Round three: CO, NM; Update: Fox calls Ohio for Obama; Update: CNN calls Iowa for Obama; Update: Fox calls Virginia for Obama; Update: Denver Post calls Colorado for Obama; Update: NBC calls the election for Obama
posted at 9:06 pm on November 4, 2008 by Allahpundit
At this point I’d be shocked if either of them mattered, but the polls have closed so here’s a new thread for results.
As I’m writing that, CNN calls Minnesota and Michigan for The One.
Update: Turns out my prediction was too conservative: I had Ohio going for McCain. Fox calls it for The One. And with that, the hour of reckoning is at hand.
Update: I said in this post over the weekend that under no circumstances could Maverick lose more than one among Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Virginia. Unless the network projections are drastically wrong, he’s already lost two. According to MSNBC, with both PA and OH in the ledger, Obama has 195 EVs with 55 still to come from California. Florida would put him over the top.
Update: Ohio’s the first red state from 2004 to flip, incidentally, and the only one Obama needs thanks to its high EV number. He can win the election now simply by holding Kerry’s states.
Update: The nets will be appropriately cautious about calling Florida early after the fiasco eight years ago but Obama’s leading steadily by 150,000-200,000 votes with 60 percent reporting and the bellwether counties don’t look good. If that flips, we’re approaching landslide territory.
Update: Obama wins New Mexico, unsurprisingly.
Update: The polls are closed now in Nevada and Montana too, but neither will matter. CNN calls Iowa for The One.
Update: With 84 percent reporting, Obama’s now ahead in Virginia by 13,000 votes.
Update: With 91 percent reporting and a lead of more than 50,000 votes, Fox hands Virginia to The One. That gives him 220 EVs, according to my tally. California will put him over the top.
Update: More blood on the floor: The Denver Post says Colorado belongs to The One. We should have a call on California from the networks within the next five minutes, and that should wrap things up.
Update: And there’s California, and there’s the election.

I’m not backing down until the votes are counted. Besides, they still have to backtrack on PA yet tonight . . .or tomorrow morning.

See now guys. Can we agree to hit bottom now? Are you guys ready to rethink your ideas about the role of the federal government in our lives? Support for Bush was support in a massive consolidation of Federal Power. Wake up people, Al Franken is a Senator. All you need is (R-State) and a pulse.

No, Palin does not blow. I can remember people saying the same kind of things about Reagan. It took him years to get established in the party and become accepted. There was nothing overnight about his political success.
Palin is very bright. She needs to get more experience and establish more of a reputation for herself in her own right.

uncalheels on November 4, 2008 at 10:26 PM
I doubt it. Obama was a near certainty today and we had a big rally. We might give some of it back, but not all of it. Obama has some decent advisors like Larry Summers and Austin Goolsbee. If he listens to them we may be ok. If he listens to the marxists in his administrations we won’t be. We have to see which group will dominate. If it’s the latter, then we’ll know its time to get out.

Well, small consolation, but the next four years are going to be entirely on Obama and his circle of advisors, and the next two, at least, will be entirely on Pelosi and Reid. No excuses accepted…none.
For the GOP, what seems to be left of it, time to get back to basics, and fast. Trying to play Dem-lite for the past several years has done nothing.
Hold Obama and his Administration to the same standards the Dems have used against the Bush Administration and Republicans in Congress. Take no prisoners. Accept no alibis. And start teaching, and preaching the basic concepts of Conservatism, even if it takes dumping the GOP entirely and building a true Conservative Party in America.
Spoke to a neighbor a short while ago…said he did not vote today…said he couldn’t “stomach” voting for McCain…but that was OK, he said, since at least he didn’t vote for Obama.
I walked away from him, turned my back on him in mid sentence, and just walked away…

Did you see the woman in the video who was interviewed on tv, dec5? She said that with Obama, she didn’t have to worry about her car payment or rent bill or something idiotic like that.
And they’ll find a way to blame Bush. Remember the Clinton recession that Bush inherited? And Clinton’s refusal to go after Bin Laden when they had multiple opportunities (path to 9/11 movie) – Bush’s fault. The moment he took office.
They’ll find a way to excuse every single issue that happens in the next 4 years as bush’s fault if Obama wins.

Well guys, the sun is going to come up tomorrow, I’m going to work, we will go on. Let’s not start infighting, we are going to look like kos or huff or some other moonbat site.
Invest what money you have left as safely and as conservative as you can, buy any guns, ammo or components that you need or want between now and January, and remember that we will be attacked. Make sure you and your family can survive without the governments help for awhile.
I believe that Obama won this because he promised large government dependent portions of the population something for nothing. Hard to beat that. It looks like, for now anyhow, that American individualism is over, except in my house and in my family.

Cash will work for a while, but they will ruin that too by first over printing it, and then by changing it to a more controlable tender, like electronic.
The trick long term will be to network with each other and deal in trust, and barter, and gold. The time is now to do the John Galt thing, and stop the engine that drives this beast; meaning we have to not feed it our productivity or our ability.

I think they will blame Bush for as long as they can, but sooner or later that will not be good enough, it never is.
After all, if Clinton had killed Bin Laden, stopped the whole Fannie Mae business before it took off, and resolved the long stand off with Saddam…how different would Bush’s tenure have been? But how much good would it do him to blame Clinton?
