I voted …
posted at 2:45 pm on November 4, 2008 by Ed Morrissey
… and it took such a brief period of time that I didn’t even get an opportunity to take a picture. When we arrived at around 10 am CT this morning, half of the booths were empty and no one was waiting in line for their ballots. We even had parking in the lot available to us, which is quite out of the ordinary on Election Day. Of course, the last time I voted, I did it at 7 am when the polls opened so I could get to work, an issue that no longer arises.
How did we vote? I’m certain you know that I voted for John McCain, Norm Coleman, and John Kline for the national offices. I voted against an increase in the state sales tax and a city bond issue to purchase land from a golf course, although the First Mate voted the other way on the latter. (It was a tougher issue than it sounds; the city blocked the owner from developing the land into residential housing and didn’t compensate him for the loss. I think the city should just allow him to develop the land rather than pay him $10 million to buy it.)
My friend and radio partner Mitch Berg told me a few years back that he always finds a way to vote for himself as a write-in candidate for a local office or a judicial post as a means of ensuring that his ballot got counted. If he sees a vote for himself in the final returns, he knows it worked. We decided to write me in for the city council, so anyone in Eagan who wants to make my life miserable can write me in as well. If I win, well … I get what I deserve.
We’re hearing that turnout is heavy here in Minnesota, which is no surprise, since we do better at turnout here than any other state in the nation. That doesn’t mean that you can’t get in quickly, if you plan well.

My husband stood in line for 3.5 hours Saturday because he is out of town today.
It took me 15 minutes from the time I parked until I got my “I Voted” sticker.
Praying the whole time.

Never could understand that. i moved down from Pa about 13 years ago. The reason I had to move was because of the liberal dems policy in Pa destroyed the economy. why would i vote for the idiot policies that destroyed my homestate?
I wonder if those that do may not understand that it was those policies that made them move in the first place. insane

There really should be a concerted effort, in the future, to encourage all of ‘our’ supporters to voice support for the leading opposition to all pollsters. It doesn’t matter if ‘their’ supporters do likewise, the result will be the same – to destroy all confidence in the integrity of their ridiculous industry.

Venice, CA. Got in line a little after 10 a.m., voted shortly before 11 a.m. I have NEVER had more than 8 or 10 people in front of me (usually a lot less). I suspect Prop 8 is driving a lot of that. I voted yes.
Rest of the day will be spent practicing my happy dance, drunk blogging and getting used to hearing the media utter the phrase “President-Elect John McCain.”
We’re gonna win this thing!

Wife and I voted by mail here in CA a couple weeks ago. This is our first election living in CA…we’re originally from the Republic of Texas.
We live in North County San Diego, a generally more conservative part of Southern CA.
When I left for work this morning around 7 AM, line was already wrapped around the school across from our home and in and out of a couple tents.
Prop 8 has the masses voting here in CA. I’ve actually seen way more McCain/Palin and “Yes” on 8 bumper stickers and signs throughout ALL of San Diego in the days and months leading to the election than I have seen Obama bin Biden and “No” on 8.

I just voted in CA, McCain / Palin. Dreier. Yes on 4, yes on 8. Most of my friends here in the blue lands of the left coast are Dems. Because of information gleaned from this site and reading Robert Spencer I was able to convince 11 of them to vote Republican for the first times in their lives. Have called all of them to verify, all have voted already. If others here have done the same thing we have a real chance here.

I walked into a busy polling place at 7:17 am, (for here in tiny Buffalo Valley, Oklahoma, that’s saying something!) and was astounded being #38 to vote at that time.
Yep, McCain/Palin and Inhofe here, and voted against Dan Boren. I’ll try that clever trick of writing in “Local Malcontent” as a judge or something next time… :-O

Thank you! we need to keep doing this through the day. And don’t forget your neighbors and friends, don’t take it for granted that they will vote. My wife called our neighbor on an unrelated issue this morning and was shocked to learn that she wasn’t planing on going to vote because she didn’t have someone to take care of the children, and she is very conservative. So one of my daughters is babysitting for a couple of hs this afternoon. It takes very little to keep many people from the polls.

680am WPTf just reported that about 33% of resgistered voters voted early. We usally have about a 50%-55% turnout. So that means in a normal year helf of those that are likely to vote have already voted.
this is not normal and i think we may get about a 70-75% voter turnout. Which since the black population is about 30% of the population and so far about 26.5% on avg have voted it would mean that most of Obama supporters have voted. the rest wer eundeciders and McCain supporters.
IMO.
So a heavy turnout today would mean good things for McCain.

ok new numbers from the link:
blacks are 22% of NC. Polling about 26.55 of the early vote. So the at leas tin the early voting blacks voted more than there percentage of population.
Therefore a heavey turnout in NC will be good for McCain IMO

One of my employees who I’ve had some political discussions with over the past month (actually he told me he just wasn’t going to vote) just stopped by and asked me if I voted. He admitted that both HE and HIS WIFE voted for McCain!! They are two pissed off Hillary supporters and were angry about the primary. So he was doing the PUMA thing…not telling who he was going to vote for and then in the booth went for McCain. Both voted for Kerry in the last election.
Oh boy…this could be very interesting tonight.

Just returned from voting here in Southern Arizona. Didn’t have to wait in line, but that’s not unusual at this polling place. It’s in an odd location. You have to drive up a hill on an unmarked street, and then drive around a bunch of government buildings before you get to the building where you vote. It’s sort of like a maze — with your vote being the cheese at the end (if you can find it).
When I went in, the poll worker checked my name on the list and told me I had requested an early ballot. I told him I most certainly did not request an early ballot, nor had I received one. He said that he had heard the same thing from “a bunch” of other voters today. He said I would have to cast a provisional ballot, which I did. I don’t know if this is some bureaucratic screw-up, or an actual attempt to suppress Republican votes in this area, but I’ll be following up. I’ve never had a problem voting here before (other than finding the damn place!), so this was unusual.

My prediction NC remains Red this year and elects a rep govener after 8 years of tax increase, a busted state budget. low employment etc. The dems have screwed this state from one of the fastest growing to one that is barely growing if not for illegal immigration. Hispabnics made up about 5% of the NC pop in 2000. Probalby closer to 10% ( high I know but go with it)now.
So if McCain can split the latino vote, lose the black vote 100-0 and which would give Obama 27% of the vote total. If McCain than can then get 6 out 10 white votes he should carry the state

I had my sticker on before second bell, tried to say “Hi” to my son, but since it was raining, the kids were not in the playground, or in the class room, or……. “Mom” was running a little late……..

Today Ladies and Gentelmen, we are in the valley, clad in our battlegear, awaken to the day by a force from within, a purpose, a mission, battle lies ahead!
We have been joined this “MORNING IN AMERICA” by PUMA’s, Reagan Democrates, RHINO’s, Conservatives, peoples of all faiths, of all social backgrounds, of ALL races, arm in arm, shoulder to shoulder, clinging to our God, our Guns, our Flag, our Constitution!
We are looking up at a huge mountain, with a fortress of the far left radicals inside awaiting our attack. The Socilialists, protected all the way up the hill by the MSM, and with Pundits blocking our paths, the task is daunting and will require all of the effort a human can muster!
But we are bolstered by our faith, comforted by that still small voice inside… Fortified by the knowledge that from our efforts here today our children and thiers will grow up in a FREE, PROUD, STRONG AMERICA… The America of our Founders, of our Grandfathers and Fathers, of our FALLEN HEROS who gave it all for our RIGHT TO FIGHT TODAY!
Drawing comfort from our friends, family, church and our mission we march onward, “RUSH”ing up the hill, tossing aside all the Pundits, embarrasing the MSM, confronting the radicals and leaving them wondering what hit them…
VICTORY AWAITS for all those willing to lay it all on the line today! Are you ready? Will you fight? Will you vote?
LET’s ROLL!

In North Carolina only “broken glass” Conservatives will wait in the rain to cast a vote. (Conservatives who are willing to walk on broken glass in bare feet to defeat Obama.) Obama supporters will not brave the elements. Besides, this think is in the bag for him, right?
