How’s everyone feeling this morning?

posted at 9:15 am on November 4, 2008 by Allahpundit

The game plan: First drink at 10 a.m., followed by seven hours of sousing and meditation on the mystic teachings of Dan Rather, at which point it’ll be time for the exit polls and then events will begin in earnest. To belabor a point I made on Sunday, the four-state cluster of Indiana, Virginia, Ohio, and North Carolina that comes in between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. will tell us what we need to know. If Maverick takes all four, he’s got a real shot; if he takes three, he’s alive but nearing the brink; any worse than that and the reaper cometh.

Nothing to do now until late afternoon except worry. What’s your agenda for the day? To focus your mind, I offer you two clips. You’ll be seeing one of them again later.

Blowback

I am feeling really very great.

I don’t like the “riot gear standby” news.

I am looking forward to seeing Obama scratch his face with his middle finger at his concession speech.

Otherwise, I’m headed out to get some things done for the day.

No sense waiting around here. I voted for the Mac and Palin last week.

I know Manly will keep the house in order.

In about 24 hours I’ll be reporting on my Intrade.com fat bank account.

I note that our local graveyard remains undisturbed. This does NOT bode well for “Queen” Christine Gregoire. She pretty much counts on that Dead Voter bloc.

I slept well last night, I’m feeling good. Will clean today, I am not going to turn on the TV. The droning on and on and on will be what drives you nuts. Tonight I’ll take my son to football practice, and stay with him there, instead of coming home.
Just VOTE, VOTE, VOTE… Don’t listen to EXIT Polls…

Welcome Fallen Sparrow.. This is a great site.

All done. Now all I need to do is sit and listen to the liberal co-workers all day. ugh.

Of course I hear Obama on the news this a.m. saying how he’s not sure he’s gonna win and bla bla bla. Oh knock it off. The man had voting machines wheeled into his rally’s for goodness sakes and the MSM is selectively putting coverage to his favor. If you don’t win dude after all the tricks you had to pull, well guess what, you’ve lost and lost hard.

By the way can someone explain to me this early voting stuff when our Constitution explicitly states voting is to be the 1st Tuesday of November?

Just vote folks. They are in 2 hour waiting lines here in parts of Maryland. In my little town, I walked in and out in 5 minutes.

I am a New England born conservative; believe me we are as rare as we sound.

I got to my polling place at 5:55am and the line was already 100 feet long. Didn’t take too long though – 30 minutes and I was on my way to work.

I’m feeling very empowered today – and hopeful. Nervous, but hopeful.

[Quoted Obama supporter] … “There will be rejoicing not rioting. Obama is going to win and if the Whites try to stop us we will fight it. When Obama wins we will take your car for ourselves. We will get a house redistributed. We can have anything we want now.”

dinkyjackson on November 4, 2008 at 9:44 AM

Can’t really blame this guy, after all that’s what the Dear Leader told him.

The frightening thing is, a large percentage of his black supporters probably feel the same way. Win or lose, there will be rioting in the streets.

strosfan on November 4, 2008 at 10:02 AM

Current bets at work:

Post-election Riots if Obama loses?

Yes – 3, myself included (including one who believes either way there will be riots)

No – 1

Election results, negative for Obama positive for McCain

Me: +4
Supervisor: -14
Colleague 1: +1
Colleague 2: -5

All of us conservative, by the way. Yes, even in Madison. Supervisor has an “I Miss President Reagan” bumper sticker on his pickup truck.

MadisonConservative on November 4, 2008 at 10:02 AM

I am in a heavily democratic area here in south Florida, being Palm Beach County (of infamous hanging chad fame). I saw a lot of McCain supporters by the Boca Raton mall yesterday waving signs in support of McCain’s commitment to Israel. I really feel the Jewish vote down here is trending towards McCain.

With that being said, we have a long way to go in VA, NC, PA, etc. However, this election’s coverage, by any measure, has been the most corrupt in a long, long time, perhaps ever with the proliferation of the internet sources and whatnot. What I’m getting at is that the general thought, and I think the polls, have been heavily skewed. I have spoken to people in my area who have always voted liberal and they are going with McCain because of character issues. This election could turn on the character of John McCain (god willing).

I hope everyone has a great day, and remember that we are still a great country no matter what, and our conservative principles are timeless and WILL endure. Thanks to HotAir, Michelle, AllahPundit, and Ed for all their great work covering this election; HA is the first website I pull up in the morning and you guys really deserve a big THANK YOU for all your efforts!

FLcapitalistthug on November 4, 2008 at 10:04 AM

Would of liked something more positive to be my first post, but I must say I am a little nervous. Who knows if that will continue throughout the day or not. I have vowed to try my best not to pay attention to any election coverage tonight until tomorrow morning when I get into work and am either depressed or thankful that God chose to have grace on this country by keeping Obama from power.

Just voted in Madison County, IL (East St. Louis, Granite City, Alton). I’m sick to my stomach…there were 12 Democrats running unopposed on my ballot for various offices. This place is Cook County South. I want to help clean up the patronage and other crap here, but I’ve no idea where to start. If Republicans can clean out the rat’s nest here in Madison County, then Cook can swing nearly 100% Democrat and Illinois would return to being a red state.

I’m nervous as hell, but hopeful.

I’m hopeful that after decades of America serving as the bulwark against socialism, communism and Marxism, after we lost 58,000 men fighting a war to hold back communism, that there are enough sensible people left in this country that we will not fall for the smoke and mirrors, hype of Barack Obama.

If Obama wins, this country is in serious trouble. It will be a temporary victory for those who want to sit back and be taken care of. That will work until our economic engine sputters to a standstill.

I would just cancel classes but we have a test thursday. I’m just gonna have to keep my laptop open while we’re working proofs on the board.

I’m taking the department digital projector home, and we’re watching the coverage on our living room wall.

Wine and pasta.
Hopefully laughs and cheers, but even if no cheers, then laughs and tears.

Anecdotal accounts reported across the web indicate that turnout is high in red states and counties, too.

A big thank you to:

1. Sarah Palin, who has excited the base and been a boon to — not a drag on — the McCain ticket.

2. Sean Hannity, who has done more to uncover the real Obama than any other media figure.

3. The fine folks at Hot Air — Michelle, AP, Cap’n Ed, Manly Rash and the always interesting cast of irregulars regulars.

reshas1 on November 4, 2008 at 10:09 AM

I spent 9pm-1am last night chalking McCain/Palin signs around the CMU campus. Our College Republicans were outnumbered by Obamatons, but I overheard them say “If you’re not a student make sure you stay with someone who has a campus ID, otherwise you could be considered trespassing,” so my guess is at least half of their crew were outsiders.

Got up at 7am and went to the polls. Longest line I’ve seen since I started voting there. A staffer in our department was in line behind me and my husband. We chatted a bit and she asked if I was voting the “right way” today. I showed her my McCain t-shirt under my jacket and she gave me the thumbs-up. The downtown Pittsburgh area is all Obama, but McCain is strong in the suburbs.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

In Chicago, just cast my ballot for McCain. I feel extraordinarily good because I just cancelled out the Obama vote of the women in front of me who kept repeating “yes, we can” in a singsong voice. Low enough to not attract attention but loud enough to make me want to push her in some mud. Then as I walked out some radio station asked who I voted for. I said “proudly for McCain”. I’m feeling cautiously hopeful.
.
It’s eerie in Manhattan. First, dropped my son off at school on the UES, then went to our neighborhood’s polling site on the UWS. The line was not too long. When I got to the registration table, the poll worker asked for my last name which I gave. She found my name, I offered my driver’s license as ID, but she said it wasn’t necessary and refused to even look at it. (sigh…) I cast my (pretty much) meaningless vote.
.
On the way to work, the subways and buses had hardly any people. When I got into the office, one of the co-workers who lives in Harlem said that he got up @ 5:30 to go vote before work and there was already a three hour wait to vote. He couldn’t wait that long this morning, so he came into work. He hopes to vote after work.

Since it seems likely that we’re looking at Team Obama for the next four years, perhaps it would be appropriate for a new Hot Air Manifesto.

Basically, we all pledge to treat Obama will the same degree of respect that the left has shown Bush – and every time we dump on The One, simply cite an example of their respectful treatment of Dubya. (There’s more to it, no doubt, but it’s early and unlike AllahPundit, I have not yet begun to drink.)

So say we all!

He asked why I didn’t like Obama. I told him I wouldn’t trust Obama with my houseplants.

WOOHOO!!!! Good for you Sherry! You must be a saint or have a good healthy fear of the law because it would have been tough to keep my mouth shut. Glad you canceled her out!

I’m feeling good today. MUCH better than yesterday. Turnout is generally HUGE and I think that’s a good thing. I think many DEMS have voted early so that leads me to believe that the major turnout is for McCain.

Keep praying folks!!!!!!

Vote as if it all depends upon you. Pray as if everything depends upon the Lord.

Very well then, if you will not believe Manly Rash and insist on a reasoned, empirical analysis then READ THIS.

And prepare for victory tonight.

Thought of you when I saw that site earlier today — very, very encouraging.

Am well prepared: a bottle of scotch that’s old enough to vote. Will pop it open as soon as Pennsylvania is “too close to call.” (Or when New Hampshire is called for McCain, whichever comes first.)

CMU–Carnegie Mellon? Gotta go by there one of these days after having read Eyeball This by David Heddle (CMU alumnus, physicist, and Calvinist blogger) a few years ago. The book is set at CMU.

‘Twas the night before elections
And all through the town
Tempers were flaring
Emotions all up and down!

I, in my bathrobe
With a cat in my lap
Had cut off the TV
Tired of political crap.

When all of a sudden
There arose such a noise
I peered out of my window
Saw Obama and his boys

They had come for my wallet
They wanted my pay
To give to the others
Who had not worked a day!

He snatched up my money
And quick as a wink
Jumped back on his bandwagon
As I gagged from the stink

He then rallied his henchmen
Who were pulling his cart
I could tell they were out
To tear my country apart!

‘ On Fannie, on Freddie,
On Biden and Ayers!
On Acorn, On Pelosi’
He screamed at the pairs!

They took off for his cause
And as he flew out of sight
I heard him laugh at the nation
Who wouldn’t stand up and fight!

So I leave you to think
On this one final note-
IF YOU DONT WANT SOCIALISM
GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!

My wife just got back from voting.Said it was chaotic. The method of voting has changed, no touch screen this year, and alot of the volunteers were kind of confused on the procedure.

vcferlita on November 4, 2008 at 10:26 AM

It was horrible at my polling place.

I was greeted with ‘Good morning’ and sent off with ‘Thanks for voting’!

The nerve of some people.

Feeling guardedly optimistic here in NC. No line at the polls, and things went smoothly.

I have no doubt that NC will go red for Mac – I’m just worried about the rest of the country.

The only thing I can guarantee about today is that I won’t have any fingernails left by 10:00 tonight!

Just got back from my precinct. Waited only 30 minutes and was voter number 371!

I live in a pretty lib town so I was praying over all those around me while I was there :)

ClintACK — “a bottle of scotch that’s old enough to vote.”

Be sure to properly dispose of the dead soldier, or it might somehow vote for Obama!
