Congratulations, Obama

One of the last things Dean Barnett said to me was that, as best he could tell, Barack Obama is “a good guy and a decent man.” I don’t think he’d mind me telling you that, especially under the circumstances. It’s a testament to his generosity of spirit that even in the heat of a campaign, with every reason to think the worst of his opponent, Dean couldn’t help but give him the benefit of the doubt. That’s Barnett all over, and that’s what made him an indispensable man whom we’ve been forced, horrendously, to dispense with.
I offer that as comfort to those of you who have no faith in The One but who do have faith in, and abiding affection for, DB. My guess is he’d have handled the news tonight with the same magnanimity that distinguished all of his writing. So in that spirit, congratulations to Barry O on a race superbly run and to our country for not having let the wrong reasons deter it from making the wrong choice. I’ll never be a fan, but I swear I’ll never take a nutroots posture either in relishing his failures because it helps my party. Like it or not, he’s my president. As a great man once said, country first.

Did you hard Right’s learn anything tonight…turn your back on your values and the American people are gonna chuck you outta office. McCain didn’t loose this election because he’s a moderate. Bush and the Republicans who pushed the Dems outta the way and proceeded to eat slovenly from the same troff lost it for him. They had a chance to pin this economic crisis on the Dems (where it belongs) and did nothing….remained decidedly silent as they have for the last eight years while the left bitched slapped them. As Goldberg, Bernard put it ….Crazies to my left and Wimps to my right. Its time for the Republicans to grow some balls and stop letting the Democrats like Pelosi step all over them. The only person who could have pulled this out was John McCain.

I feel nearly the same as I did the day after 9/11, numbed dazed, and hoping to wake up. And yet we saw this coming. Half of us, unlike on 9/11, took this attack on the homeland right up the yinyang, willingly. Congratulating the subversion of B Hussein Osama would be no different to me than congratulating Al Qaeda for their attack on my city. What am I supposed to say to a sleazy cloaked stalinist like Obama? “Tally-ho? Go get em’ Barry. Good job hiding that Kenyan birth certificate”? Are you kidding? Congratulations? Allah, would you go back in time and offer well-wishes to Castro or Krushchev upon their rises to power? Just because we’re called the United States, it doesn’t mean we’re united, and it doesn’t mean we can’t produce leaders with the hearts of dictators who laugh at gentlemen consumed with integrity. Look where integrity got Juan McLame, who famously told SUPPORTERS at a rally that they had nothing to fear from an Obama presidency. Are you chittin me? This is life and death, not tiddlywinks. Congratulations? How about quoting Patton instead: NUTS!

Yeah, and people hate bald, fat, ugly, skinny, and old people also…the blacks only voted 13% (less then 4 years ago) and it was the whites that carried Obama across the finish line.
So they can dump the race card.
And as much as I hate to take the time to educate you guys, here is some stats which proves that if you are an educated black you earn as much or more then an equal educated white. And it has been that way for years. Read it and weep.
Here, page 254. Studies in Labor Markets by Richard Freeman of the National Bureau of Labor Statistics.
There is more recent studies that show African-American exceed salaries that of whites in college graduate work.
But my job is not to educate you, but point you in the right direction, and to clean your ears of the liberal wax that has built up over the years.

Before you disparage all things Sarah Palin, ask yourself this:

2. How did you form your opinion of Barack Obama?
I can answer truthfully that I never used the reporting of the mainstream media for either candidate.

The Civil War started you could argue, because the Rule of Law was starting to win out; the British Banned Slavery before us, relying on the Rule of Law.
The Civil Rights Act was a triumph of the Rule of Law.

Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security

The press will turn on him in a few months. First, they’ll realize how embarrassingly incompetent they were as journalists during this campaign, caught up in some whacko fever to be a part of “history”.
Second, they’ll realize that their messiah is hopeless when it comes to using his new power to create any positive change. Journalists love to fight the Man and bring down power. Guess who just became the Man?
Third, those in the press who went along for the ride because they were intimidated by the Obama campaign (directly or indirectly) will realize that a President Obama can’t get away with isolating and discrediting them when they are sitting on legitimate stories that will harm him. There is an endless supply of dirt – much of it about how Obama’s camp cheated during this election and the rest about why he would never have made it past Hillary if the media hadn’t been covering up his many numerous flaws.
Finally, the press may have been major Obama drones lately, and they let their hatred of President Bush cloud their judgement. But when they see themselves become the target and not the ally of an Obama administration, I think they’ll fight. Right now, we can see that Obama and his liberal comrades in Congress are a threat to free speech. Once the mainstream media collectively understands that, they’ll take the fight to him.
Hopefully, this will be enough to take back Congress (or at least make in manageable) in 2010. Then we can work on taking the presidency back. While I feel liberty is very much under threat and a Marxist America is an actual possibility, it may not be time for drastic actions yet. Obama/Reid/Pelosi are incompetent fools and I think we can count on that. They’ve inherited a dangerous world and a hurting economy at home and abroad. It’s our job to expose them, make sure they take the blame and to coherently explain to the dependent class and the middle class why unchecked liberalism hurts their interests moreso than conservatism ever has.
Any collectivist government, if allowed to remain in power, will eventually self-destruct and fall apart on itself once there are no longer enough producers and wealth-creaters left willing to involuntarily sacrifice their ability for the benefit of the non-productive parasites. I panicked when I first heard this thing called for Obama, but I do not believe we’re at the point of no return yet. If we don’t kick these bums out in 2012, it will likely be time to stand aside and watch America fail. Until then, let’s stay within the system and fight, fight, fight!

Some in the South would argue that the War stated because the Federal government tried to grab power that they did not have under the consitutuion and that made the deal they struck in 1789 null and viod.
thus to many during the 1850’s in the South it was the failure of the rule of law that caused the war.

Gosh, what can I say to congratulate the one…all I can think of is a snippet from a movie. Jack Lemmon and James Garner were playing ex-Presidents; they were discussing lyrics they came up with for ‘Hail to the Chief’…so, my tribute to our Glorious Leader is what I remember:
Hail to the Chief
he’s the chief and he needs hailing
Hail to the chief because he keeps himself so clean.
I think that was part of Garner’s version..he might have been singing it in a bathtub, I don’t know. It’s been a while since I’ve seen it. I’d look up the title but i’m too bummed.

Perhaps it’s not a reward. I’ve said many times this election season that I won’t envy anyone who has to occupy the White House next. Even with all this love from the media, his followers, and “the world,” it’s going to be a rough go for him. Particularly given how green he is. Chances are high that he’s going to be bloodied but good by the relentless progress of history and the “testing” he’ll get from our enemies and allies alike. Unfortunately, when our president gets bloodied, so do all of us. It will be a high price we all have to pay for God to teach Barack Obama a little humility.

I didn’t vote for Obama, I don’t like him and I’m not going to pretend to be gracious. Allah, maybe you’re a bigger man than I am a woman, because I don’t have it in me to congratulate the person who has been insulting me for months, someone who proposes to dictate my choices by way of his punitive economic measures, suppression of First Amendment rights and threats to prosecute me if I ever need to aggressively protect my child. On some level I’ll have to “accept” that he is the president of this country, but I won’t be referring to him as “my” president.
But I’m also not going to whinge about killing myself or how the country is in ruin. Victim status is for people who can’t hack personal responsibility. And the Susan Sarandon-style whinges are just ineffective and sound old the second time they are heard. There’s work to be done in the next years and my five-years old boy will one day ask me what I did to preserve or fight for his future and freedom. I’ll never let it be said of me that I gave it up without a fight.

Unseen, I’m a PA Farmboy living in Atlanta; I have to hear all the Southern Redneck crap every week, about the “War Between the States” and how it wasn’t about “Slavery” and all that crap!
Bullshit!
Slavery was wrong, Racism is wrong, the South was Wrong, and they justifiably and correctly and thankfully got their asses kicked!
That’s over! Thank our lucky stars.
Slavery was the most vile institution that man every inflicted upon its fellow man.
The irony is, the United States is now being punished, for ending a hated institution, and being the second or third country in human history to ever do so (the UK and I think Haiti, preceded the United States doing so!); and yet, because of the self-hating Anti-American Democratic Traitors pandering for black votes, they’ve essentially changed history, and make it seem as if the United States is the most racist country in the world, and that we INVENTED slavery!
Hell, it wasn’t the “United States” that started slavery in the new world: it was Britain and Holland and Spain and France that started Slavery in the New World.
It was the United States that ENDED it, and before any of those countries except Britain.
And the only reason Slavery could’ve existed on the African Continent to begin with, was because of European Merchantmen, African Princes and Village headmen who sold their own into Slavery, and Arab & Muslim Slave traders!
And Slavery, wasn’t outlawed in Saudi Arabia, and Sudan, and Chad, and other African and Muslim and Arab countries until the 1960’s!
And frankly, it STILL exists in places such as Sudan, and Saudi Arabia, and Chad, and Mauritania.
I know.
My family has spent 13 years in Liberia; 6 years in Nigeria, 5 years in Egypt, 5 years in Sudan, 3 years in Spain, 2 years in Japan, six months in the Arabian Gulf; I’ve seen the rest of the world, I NKOW what it’s REALLY like.
We are the best, and the greatest, and the most Magnaimous, and most Alturistic Nation in the History of mankind.
We are also the most generous, and the most selfless, and we are one of the LEAST “racist” today, as well!

Hi folks,
After this night’s disappointment and disbelief subsides, we’re going to come together and figure out what the hell our party is going to stand for going forward.
We once knew what we stood for. Anyone know what we stand for now, after eight years of Bush and two years of the McCain campaign?
We lost this election when we nominated a man without any consistent philosophy to speak of. This is the same man who gave us McCain-Feingold and called us all racists for wanting to secure our borders. And our party responded by nominating him to be President of the United States of America.
All I know is that our party no longer deserves to be in power when it surrenders almost every principle upon which it was built.
Obama says it’s THEIR time. But it’s OUR time too. To come together and figure out what we are going to do and what we stand for.

Debt paid. You got what you wanted. Let’s move along. New day, different page, and you’re still coming out with the same old sh*t?

the energy industry is going to be toast
no new drilling
taxed coal
solar and wind a decade off at best (so heavily subsidized but no big contribution)
no nuclear
electric cars but no excess electricity
gas prices will be $4 real soon
with the ever deflating dollar $6
Heaven help us

Allah..I’m not lookin to get banned…realio and truilio. But I gotta say, I couldn’t disagree MORE with your attitude.
Firstly: I do not, and will not “relish” in his failures because it “helps” my party. I WILL point to them and tout them to the rooftops because it helps MY COUNTRY. (and sure..my party. But primarily my country.)
Why not? Your lack and unwillingness to do so is what leads to your ‘pessimism’ me thinkest.
The lack of spirit to go full guns, is the very same lack of will that stopped McCain from doing what he told all of US to do in this campaign.
“to stand up! And FIGHT! FIGHT for your country!..”
You have to have more than words to do that. You have to have more than ‘pessimism’.
You have to have stones and a backbone of steel. Or at the very least a backbone.
This isn’t tiddleywinks we’re playing here. Its about time we stopped playing like it was.
With all due respect.

I’m not denying its going to get grim.
I’m not denying that Obama’s “victory” was in fact, a victory for:
Anti Americanism
Communism
Marxism
Socialism
The Traitor Democrats
The Left
Hollywood
The MSM
William Ayers
Bernadine Dorhn
Jerimiah Wright
Frank Marshal Davis
Louis Farrakhan
Ward Churchill
Tony Rezko
Rashid Khalidi
Black Racism
Anti-Semitism
Al Qaeda
Hamas
Hezbollah
The Taliban
Hugo Chavez
Daniel Ortega
Fidel Castro
The Regieme of North Korea
Muamar Qadhaffi
The Mullahocracy of Iran
That’s a fairly impressive list of supporters, fans, sychophants, dictators and Nutjobs that Obama has as his supporters and endorsers!
But at this time, we MUST not sink to the level of Traitor Democrats epitomized buy ijits such as “Chimpy”, and we must move on!

ManlyRash – To me the most personal (though certainly not the greatest, that would be POTUS) loss in this election is the loss of you as a poster here at HotAir.
Thank you for putting it all on the line to rally the troops.

Slavery was the most vile institution that man every inflicted upon its fellow man.
Dale in Atlanta
I disagree. I think communism was as bad if not worse. communism destroyed millions, and caused an mental infection that to this day is not cured. Slavery comes in many forms. That practiced by the USa was a very bad form. Yet even in its darkest period half the country was free and there was a place of freedom for all slaves to hope to reach.
In a communist country all people are slaves to the state and the hope of freedom is not there. Those that want freedom, speak out for freedom are killed or reeducated.
Slavery while terrible is a physical exsistence. Communism enslaves not only the body, but also the mind and the soul.

Not one conservative complained about Karl Rove, the mastermind behind the most vile race-baiting assault in modern politics, being the “magnificent” mind behind Bush or the entire party for the last 8 years.
This duplicitous crap rings hollow with minorities and that will undoubtedly be a contributing factor to this loss.
My party will change for the better because of this loss. A lot of dead wood has been rotting on the limbs and this election was like a metaphorical meteor that will result in the dearth and death of paleolithic creatures that will seem more like mythological creatures when we hit stride again.

Well, the majority has spoken. They have elected a man no one really knows , with no experience, no voting record, few principles other than consolidating his own power and they’ve done it with what amounts to a landslide. The one positive I can find here is that is should be mighty interesting watching him living up to the image he’s created for himself. Does what goes up also come down a corresponding distance? Remains to be seen.

It is as if Bush and McCain think this is all a game.
A rousing bout of political musical chairs.
They have both abandoned the defense of the nation by not seriously opposing and warning against the follies of this crypto-Marxist weasel and his radical crackpot associates and mentors and financers.
Instead, it is all sweetness and light and “Well met,. good fellow. Yoiks!”
They’re crazier than Barry is.
He’s a malicious, mendacious, vacuous machiavellian crocodile, but at least he goes for the power openly and seriously and unashamedly.
He needs to be fought, not commended.
Obama is a disaster.
America, his victim.

Here’s hoping my worst fears will not be realized.
Or if they are, just as Carter triggered Reagan, just as Clinton triggered the revolution of 1994, Obama will inspire an appropriate backlash.
Hope for the best, folks, but be prepared for the worst. And this pal of terrorists could have some very bad sh** in store for us. I hope I am wrong, that even his radicalism is fake, but I am worried I am not.
I have never been so pessimistic for my nation, but… we live in too dangerous times to indulge in any petty tit for tat for the way bush was treated. And yes, we will have to trust him with our national security apparatus.
God help us.

I have thought about this moment for some time now. I was not happy with McCain as a candidate from the start. I would have voted for somebody else if he had not nominated Palin for VP. Romney would also have been OK with me. But most of the other choices would not.
I remember when Bill Clinton was elected. I heard many of the same things then. I agree that Obama is more left than Clinton. Yet I also feel that America is strong enough to survive Obama as well. We have had some very bad Presidents in the past and we will survive one more. We will suffer for it as a country, but we will survive.
What is important now is how do we limit the damage while working to turn America back to the traditions and ideology that made her great? I feel the answer is simple. We keep fighting.
The Republicans that remain in the Senate need to block the worst of what the left will try to stuff through while working to soften what does get through. It is important to limit the damage as much as we can.
Meanwhile we need to entrench as conservatives. We tried several weak candidates. George H.W. Bush lost to Clinton because he sold out. Dole lost to Clinton badly because he was not conservative enough. George W. Bush destroyed the credibility of the Republican party by being too moderate and was aided by too many moderate Republicans in Congress.
If you look at the people that made it through, it was mainly the moderates and sell-outs that lost. Elizabeth Dole was a moderate and she got slaughtered. John Sununu tried to distance himself from conservative principles and got slapped hard. Norm Coleman was a moderate and may still lose. McCain walked the middle too much and lost as well.
Meanwhile Senators that held firm to conservative ideals won. They won because they were able to distance themselves from George W. Bush and his wishy washy ideals. They were able to differentiate themselves from their liberal Democrat opponents. They provided a clear alternative instead of trying to be Democrat Light. We already have one liberal party in this country, we really do not need another.
We need to clean some house in the G.O.P. and go back to being what has made us successful. If the true conservatives cannot reform the G.O.P. then we need to make a party that will value conservative ideals and be the clear alternative to the Democrats. This needs to be done fairly quickly so that we have time to get organized before the next election.

I think you’re going a little overboard here. No way you can equate BHO’s election to the attack on 9/11. Sorry, but 3,000 Americans dying to a new president getting elected is no where even in the same arena. We must be respectful of the office. It’s over, the American people have spoken.
There is plenty of blame to go around, but I place most of it on the Bush Administration. My contention is that he made any republican victory this year impossible. That’s the past though, we will have to look towards the future.
America is still the best country in the world, the shining city on the hill. The Fairness Doctrine won’t get reinstated. I’m sure we’ll find that even a Democratic congress with a democratic president will find even new ways to get nothing done.

I’ve seen people who lived in Slavery.
I was in Northern Iraq for six weeks.
The Kurds keep “slaves”; they have a whole “slave caste” that they keep there; don’t like to “advertise” the fact.
Trust me, it’s more debilitating to the mind and body and soul than you imply!
The Soviet Union, East Germany, and others, threw off Marxism; that can be done, and has been done, from “within”!
Slavery has to be abolished from without! Aside from romatic notions about Spartacus, there was never a successful “Slave Revolt” that I’m aware of, except maybe in Haiti!!

…no, your party won’t change…this election will change nothing…this election, and the defections from the party, only highlight that it’s a pretty class-ist, elitist, snobby bunch, and that politics is just a game with them…like sportsmen who congratulate eachother when, alternating, they win at polo….
…the treatment of Sarah Palin shows this….
…and you don’t need to be a redneck to be a genuine conservative…but, if you can be an atheist and a conservative, or a homosexual, or — heavens forbid — a “uniter”, I’d have to ask you what you’re conserving.
…if it’s the right to be an atheist, or a homosexual, or some other specific group with a grievance, head left…there’s plenty of room over there….
…if it’s the right to be left alone, to live your life without the by your leave of your government or even your neighbors, then you might be a conservative after all….
…as to being an intellectual, so long as you are open-minded enough to consort with folks “beneath” you…and your intellect doesn’t restrict bloodflow to your balls, the more the merrier….
…as to folks who drink beer and hunt, consider a tolerance. Your statement displayed little.

What were all the libtards in Grant Park spontaneously chanting during Barry’s speech? Was it USA, USA, USA? No, it was “yes we can, yes we can.” They don’t care about America. They care about feeling good about electing a black man. Maybe finally their liberal guilt will be assuaged and we can move on.

hmmm. you all might want to take a look at those that did vote for McCain. It was the christians, the blue collar people, the puma’s, It was the South, whites mostly.
Lations and blacks abandoned the rep party.
It was not the highly educated, white afluent middle class. It was not the poor. It was those with your attitude that you are better than a joe six pack.
The party’s base now for better or worse are the middle class and blue collar white people and the extremly wealthy. the extremly wealthy choose this group so that we could keep the poor from them.
The upper middle class let white guilt sway them and they will pay much money for their mistake.
If you want to expand the party you do not abandon your base to do so. We must make the white affluent middle class fear the tax man more than they fear someone saying no abortion. We must bring them around to less gov, not more. Use free market principles to provide healthcare. We must outreach to catholics, and other religious people. We got the catholic vote this time. We need to expand that vote. We need to be the party of stability has the dems activily destroy American culture and insitutions in the coming years.

Its out of respect for the office– that I don’t like it being tainted by someone that sat in a church, listening to someone run America down. My respect for the office stands on its own. The MAN has to rise to it.
Two years in the senate with nothing to show for it other than a bill that says its ok to let an infant die in a broom closet doesn’t quite “rise to the office”.
(yes I know that was before he was in the senate..but at least thats SOMETHING…His senate record has really nothing to point to!)
