Congratulations, Obama

One of the last things Dean Barnett said to me was that, as best he could tell, Barack Obama is “a good guy and a decent man.” I don’t think he’d mind me telling you that, especially under the circumstances. It’s a testament to his generosity of spirit that even in the heat of a campaign, with every reason to think the worst of his opponent, Dean couldn’t help but give him the benefit of the doubt. That’s Barnett all over, and that’s what made him an indispensable man whom we’ve been forced, horrendously, to dispense with.
I offer that as comfort to those of you who have no faith in The One but who do have faith in, and abiding affection for, DB. My guess is he’d have handled the news tonight with the same magnanimity that distinguished all of his writing. So in that spirit, congratulations to Barry O on a race superbly run and to our country for not having let the wrong reasons deter it from making the wrong choice. I’ll never be a fan, but I swear I’ll never take a nutroots posture either in relishing his failures because it helps my party. Like it or not, he’s my president. As a great man once said, country first.

What, because I’m not some placating, appeasing obsequious yes-man? Because I love my country, and can see the damage this moron is going to cause? I will never wish him well, only the worst life has to offer. He is the opposite of what this country stands for; he’s no different than the terrorists that attacked us on 9/11. His method may be different, but the madness is the same.

On the obverse, we do now have a club to beat liberal Europeans with now when they accuse us of not being liberal enough. Many parties will have a much, much tougher time playing the race card. I saw Jesse Jackson crying tonight and I’m generous enough to concede they were tears of joy around his lifelong struggle. But I’m sure he was also realizing that his shakedown market just got that much more difficult to mine. I appreciated Obama’s statement that even if he had not earned my vote he would still need my help. We’ll see.
And McCain is still a Senator. We need to start pestering him to fix McCain Feingold with what he learned tonight.
So tomorrow it’s time to fax the RNC and remind them why we didn’t contribute when they called us 3 or 4 times this season. If they want our contributions next season, they need to…
Ensure that currently serving members are above reproach
Fight earmarks
Stop hiding under the bed when a liberal starts to hyperventilate
Commit to filibuster unacceptable judges
Insist on justice (not persecution) regarding Obama’s unacceptable internet contributions
Agitate for true election reform, making it simple, not complicated.
Remove the option for private campaign financing.
Stand up for the moral values of our country.
ElRonaldo on November 5, 2008 at 1:08 AM
Obama did nothing but make mistakes. Whenever he let his true view of our nation’s foundation or his plans for our economy or the wars our military is involved in slip out, I was sure he’d lose. Every time another member of the endless parade of truly radical friends came to the light, I thought he was done for. Every time I heard an excerpt from his autobiography – read by Obama himself – detailing his radical past and Marxist views, I knew he couldn’t really be leading in the polls. We heard his pastor shouting “GOD DAMN AMERIKKK!”. A day before an election that hinged on Pennsylvania and Ohio, of all states, we hear Obama say he wants to BANKRUPT THE COAL INDUSTRY!
Nothing about this election makes sense to me. Obviously, he won, but it’s really hard for me to believe the American people knowingly elected an anti-American Marxist to be the commander in chief. If these damned uninformed and misinformed/apathetic voters had to vote based on the candidates’ records and policy positions and didn’t get to know their party affiliations or see their pictures, McCain would have won in a decisive landslide.
For the first time in my adult lifetime, I’m ashamed to be an American.
Sign of the Dollar on November 5, 2008 at 1:08 AM
This is what a Post-Christian society deserves.
It reminds me of that high school experiment where the sci teacher throws a frog into boiling water and it then simply jumps out. Next he sets a cold skillet of water on the burner, throws the frog back in and then turns the heat on. The frog just sits there as the water heats up gradually as he cooks to death totally unaware.
That’s the Nation.
Israel by the way just launched an attack into Gaza after they fired 20 rockets into Israel to celebrate the Obama win.

It’s called a disease. The MSM has the same affliction that the people in Grant Park have. A big tingle up their leg. To you it would be an annoying itch. To them it is a higher calling. It’s a religious experience. It’s a way for them to peel away from the country that has given them so much without asking anything in return.
It’s all about having it easy and wanting more without having to pay a price.
There is no way to change them unless they are held accountable. They cannot be held accountable until a tragedy takes place.
Get your sh it in a group and learn about self defense, neighborhood defense, county defense, state defense, and national and international defense.
If that is to much of a problem for you.
Then call the United States Marines. The United States Army. The United States Air Force. The United States Navy. The United States Coast Guard. And the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America.

Sign of the Dollar –
Obama made plenty of mistakes, and rather big ones, too, but when the vehicle by which those mistakes should be reported suppresses all potentially damaging evidence of one candidate’s foibles, it’s rather hard to disprove the notion that he is, in fact, The Holy Annointed One that is practically perfect in every way.
Also, as a lurker, I’ve enjoyed this blog for quite some time. Many, many intelligent posters here, but the comments by the “losing” team (and I count myself among you) are out of control.
I do believe Obama will run America into the ground so much so that she is a shadow of herself by the time he, Pelosi, Reid, and the terrorists are finished with her, but we must in this moment lose with dignity intact.

From now on, blacks have absolutely nothing to complain about, even though Hussein still can’t figure out his ethnicity.
And tonight showed me one thing – Racism is okay. It’s okay to be a racist. It’s okay to vote or not vote for someone based on the color of their skin, not political experience, or in Hussein’s case, lack of.
Now I can be a raging overt racist. Because That’s what I heard from his zombies, from the media, from opiners.

I really believe the Republican party needs a rethink on what their composition and emphasis should be. I am an immigrant who never felt included in the typical Republican party (just take a look at the Republican conventions v/s Democrats, and you would know exactly what I mean). With the minority becoming majority, the Republicans need to consider whether the “base” will be sufficient to win future elections.

We wish him well because we are Americans first, and Republicans or conservatives second and we want what is best for our country. Some of us don’t wish to be petty and small minded and bitter like the crazy left, pouting and sneering and ridiculing when our guy loses.
Obama ran and he won. That’s what happens in a democracy. This is the way our system works. How can we say we love America but despise the Americans who voted for Obama? They voted their conscience, presumably, picked the person they wanted. Enough of our fellow citizens did that and he won. Did they make a wise choice? We don’t know. But it can’t be wrong to hope so and to pray that Obama will be a good President. Because he’s who we’ve got.

Like Manly, I’m leaving HotAir too. But I’m leaving on a good note and for a different reason.
I’ve spent way too much time talking on this website rather than doing.
One reason why the Marxist won is because we on the other side talk too much rather than doing the work it takes to win.
HotAir was a good website for me to really follow the whole last three months of the election and the guys/gals here are smart and witty.
However, HA is NOT the website I want to spend time on for following POLICY FORMATION and the rebuilding of the Republican Party and the Conservative Movement in America.
Great site and I’ll check back some time in 2010 during the summer as we approach the Congressional Elections.

aengus on November 5, 2008 at 1:21 AM
Ok let’s look at the results. those voting for Obama were the poor and the affluent white middle class with white guilt.
The blue collar middle class voted for McCain, the wealthy voted for McCain, the chirstians voted for McCain.
Obama’s stated policies hurt the wealthy affluent middle class. Liberal policies hurt the white affluent middle class.
I make a prediction that the colition that Obama forged can not stand. They have two different objectives. The white guilt has been expunged. They did the “right” thing and voted for the black man. Their guilt is “gone” Now they can say they are not racist.
Now their money becomes the overriding concern.
Now the reps can steal the wealth affluent middle class by talking about taxes, less government. they can grab the blue collor folk by saying how Obama’s energy policy is causing them higher gas electricity etc.
They can bring out the christians again in 2012 by showing the decay in the culture under Obama.
The young voters can be taken back by showing them how their college degree means nothing in an no upward mobile world.
If the reps are smart (which I question everyday now) they will immediately start attacking this partnership. By using the affluent middle class fear of their money to break up Obama.
Obama will b ethe president of the poor in 2012 if done correctly and we can be the party that runs on class warfare. The middle class, wealthy agains tthe poor.

I’m going to have to stop crying over dead babies…I’ve been crying over dead babies for 35 years, and the last 5 or so, things seemed to be getting better…partial birth abortion was banned, states started to seriously consider parental notification so that your daughter wouldn’t bleed to death in the middle of the night without the parents knowledge, the Supreme Court came one president away from allowing states to decide what restrictions made sense.
Gone. All gone.

AP, Post this on the website
# Five Stages Of Grief
* 1. Denial and Isolation.
* 2. Anger.
* 3. Bargaining.
* 4. Depression.
* 5. Acceptance.
I’m coming out of step 2, and looking forward to depression.

I will give Obama one chance to prove to me that he will manage from the center. The first time he f’s up, I’ll begin treating him the way the left treated Bush.

I’ll tell you why I think this is a bad idea.
The Colin Powells, Peggy Noonans, and the Davids Brooks screwed the GOP.
And the most asinine part of that is…their candidate was at the top of the ticket.
They left. They walked out. Good riddance.
This is prime time to reclaim the party.

So what the hell ought that tell you about The Stupid Party? Geez, you mean you didn’t see the hijacking happening for the past 20 years?
News alert: you no longer have a party — you haven’t had one for years.

That’s the tack I’m going to take. I figure, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander. Unite? Behind Barack? Oh, HELL NO! He can get behind me, get on his knees and kiss my wrinkled butt!

…Chamberlain preceeded Churchill…Clement Atlee is probably who you’re thinking of…and, in six years in leadership, he handed the British Empire back to people who promptly killed hundreds of thousands; kept the nation in artificial poverty with “austerity measures” and rationing; invited throngs of commonwealth citizens to throng to the “mother country”, creating no end of trouble ever since; created the British welfare state, where healthcare is rationed and people expect to be kept like housepets; and created Britain he sick man of Europe, succeeding Turkey in that role.
…Britain went into the war powerful and rich, came out scarred as you’d expect, but also on the fast track to quaintness and historical irrelevance….
…goes to show you what can happen in a short span in office.

Ok, kids. Spilt milk and all that crap.
It’s November 5th, not November 4th.
Time to make a list and check it twice. Time to sit down and put all that grey matter God gave you to good use.
Falling out of a 12th floor window won’t kill you. You know the moral of the story.

MR left because he stated that if he was wrong on this election he would stop commenting. He’s living up to his word. Read the thread…
To Hawkdriver, Tankkiller et al, and those of you that have family in harms way its unfortunate that come January you will be taking orders from a man that has less use for our military than BJC did. I sincerely hope that BHO’s decisions won’t further put your lives in needless jeopardy.
For those that are venting, starting tomorrow, let’s find ways to turn that energy into reclaiming our Country.
