Congratulations, Obama

One of the last things Dean Barnett said to me was that, as best he could tell, Barack Obama is “a good guy and a decent man.” I don’t think he’d mind me telling you that, especially under the circumstances. It’s a testament to his generosity of spirit that even in the heat of a campaign, with every reason to think the worst of his opponent, Dean couldn’t help but give him the benefit of the doubt. That’s Barnett all over, and that’s what made him an indispensable man whom we’ve been forced, horrendously, to dispense with.
I offer that as comfort to those of you who have no faith in The One but who do have faith in, and abiding affection for, DB. My guess is he’d have handled the news tonight with the same magnanimity that distinguished all of his writing. So in that spirit, congratulations to Barry O on a race superbly run and to our country for not having let the wrong reasons deter it from making the wrong choice. I’ll never be a fan, but I swear I’ll never take a nutroots posture either in relishing his failures because it helps my party. Like it or not, he’s my president. As a great man once said, country first.

“Congratulations Obama”?
What the hell kind of headline is that?
Do any of these sit right with you?
“Congratulations Lenin”
“Congratulations Castro”
“Congratulations Hitler”
A collectivist thug just took control of our government by cheating our system and deceiving our public. He intends to destroy capitalism and disarm our nation when a strong and free United States is the only real hope for the entire world.
It’s now up to us to oppose the coming liberal supermajority using everything we have left! If we don’t work diligently against this fraudulent president elect and his comrades in Congress, the Marxist vision of a worldwide revolution may finally be upon us. And that means the end for us all.
Until January 20, George Bush is still our commander in chief and real Americans are still in control of the Justice Department. It won’t take long after the election for Obama and his comrades to begin to consolidate their ill-gained power by silencing dissent in the new media and mainstream media and to disarm the populace.
This means we must organize now – before they seize power! For the sake of liberty, for the sake of capitalism, for the sake of the Constitution of the United States of America and everything our founding fathers stood for. And, like it or not, for the sake of the world, we’ve got to fight back against these Reds!
Read Obama’s memoirs. You know what his radical friends in the Weathermen wanted to accomplish. Now that they’ve managed to get a man elected on the inside – with one-party ultra-liberal rule supporting him in Congress – Bill Ayers believes his wet dream of America destroyed and overrun by its enemies will come true.
It’s up to us to stop it.

There are three types of Obama votes.
A. Those who wanted to f’ Bush because he’s somehow responsible for them taking out mortgages on homes they couldn’t afford and overcharging their credit cards.
B. Those who think that Obama will provide them with anything, including the lady that thinks Obama will pay her mortgage and the Iowa farmers who want ethanol subsidies.
C. Those who like Obama because he is black and wanted him to be President because their European colleagues/ business partners will like them. (Majority of Evanston).

…we didn’t just lose preferred seating at the theater.
…this wasn’t a pillow fight…and the winners won’t just demand that we go to bed 30 minutes earlier than they.
…the opposition don’t just hate Mr. Bush. They don’t just hate Rush Limbaugh or Bill O’Reilly or Sean Hannity…more than anything else, they hate US…their biggest grievance is that the right exists at all…and by that I don’t just mean the political right, but the concept of right and wrong as objective concepts, from which they cannot deviate at will, and against which they can’t legislate without heaps of excuses they’re not clever enough to provide.
…this wasn’t a passing disappointment, which grownups pass off as they dismiss a losing hand at cards…this was an actual loss, a smashing of the locks, which will let in all manner of mischief and real evil…this was a species of treason, and the coming months and years will tell….
I for one will not sit idly by. In my own modest way, I plan to watch and wait….

I never said that Obama wasn’t a citizen, all I said was that the guy had some interesting evidence. Do you not think that a president should provide evidence that he is a citizen to become president? That’s all I’m asking. Obama has yet to provide any evidence of his citizenship, and has refused to provide a simple birth certificate even when being threatened with a lawsuit. Why didn’t they just provide it?

We as true conservatives better not bow to the pundits and politicians that say we need now to come together as a country and put our support behind the new president Hussein Obama!
And any Republican leader who says we must come together should be run out of office and will be replaced with a conservative that has a spine to fight!
This is day one, of the new campaign to destroy this man politically, as the democrats and there partners in the media tried to do to Bush from day 1 of his inauguration. For 8 long years the left and there partners in the press had ridiculed, mocked, lied and defamed this president relentlessly until this very day! We need to take our gloves off and fight for our principles and believes to no end, we must go after him and his Marxist ways with intensity that will overwhelm him and his comrades in congress and in the media. We need to stop walking on egg shells and stop the political correctness and trying to be above all the mud slinging “and let’s start throwing punches”
We as conservatives will never win another election if we don’t articulate our differences, with passion and fire to the electorate, so they can have a clear choice between capitalism and socialism. We also have to answer every lie/accusation that is made about our conservative policies from democrats or the media with truth, passion and forcefulness. To call those out on there lies and mistruths and destroy them at there own game. If it sounds like I am bitter and angry I AM! And I am sure I reflect the majority of conservative’s views, on this sad day when the American people were misled by the so many news outlets to vote for a man that could not get a security clearance to work for the FBI, but now sits in the most powerful office in the world. For me Hussein Obama is NOT my president and will never be my president, this has nothing to do with race, “don’t try playing the RACE card with me” it has to do with policies and PAYBACK! For the 8 years of hatred towards Bush, this is the beginning of a battle that will only end with there total destruction.
The WAR has just started and it better get ugly!

Amen, and well said. I also agree to some extent with a poster on possibly another thread who commented that we are going to have to separate from the MSM. They did us the dirt, and we cannot continue to let them run their game on us. No more interviews where our guys get hammered, and their fair-haired Democrats get the softballs. If they pass the fairness doctrine (which of course, for reasons beyond me, will not include TV or newspapers, but only talk radio), we’re going to have organized a shadow media anyway, maybe pod-cast and internet based? It will have to have a way to reach out though in order to draw the growing number of disaffected Democrats (you know, the “rich” ones who make more than $250k) into the loop. We shouldn’t wait for them to pull the plug on Rush and Glenn and Sean, either. Thoughts?

This should also finish the “the country is really center-right” nonsense. The country has made a fairly radical left turn (excepting the South and most of the Midwest). This is the kind of government the people of America (i.e., the majority) have decided they want, a socialist government along the lines of France and Great Britain.
We are going to be governed more like Canada than the U.S. What can we do as Conservatives? Find a leader who can speak eloquently, simply, and clearly on the issues that made this country great. We don’t have that leader as of yet. Reagan was it in the 70’s, I don’t think either Palin or Jindal have it in them, but I could be wrong. We need someone with the intelligence of Gingrich, and the courage and eloquence of Limbaugh.
Unless we find this leader, or leaders, we will go further left as a country. Right now, the left has the reigns of power, it will take a massive communications effort to turn it around.

This day should be the day conservatives stop being nice to liberals. When you can lie, cheat, and steal your way into an election spouting bromides like “hope and change” while silencing people who are doing real investigative journalism instead of fluff pieces, it is time to stop giving the benefit of the doubt.
Obama is a monster and his associations are monstrous. He only got into power because conservatives were too nice to liberals, too willing to concede speaking the truth because we thought friendship or friendliness or good working relationships were more important and that really, at the end of the day they would see the light.
They aren’t seeing the light. The believe not only that they are right but that we are evil for believing otherwise, and quite frankly I’m tired of it. We’ve been too nice for too long, and it is time to give the asshole wing of the Democrat party a taste of their own medicine.

Not tonight, not from me anyway. For me it is because unlike many on the left our side has honor and integrity. The campaign is over, what has been voted is done. There is no denying the historical significance of the event whether we liked the result or not.
Tomorrow is another day. The battle is over. The war (in the party) has just begun. Tonight is Obama’s night, he has earned it. However the future is not yet written. Be assured that that I for on have an intention in some small way to affect what will be written.
We can be conciliatory. We can be gracious. But in no way does that diminish our resolve, our ideas. The greatest thing about this country is its people. We have experienced the highest of highs and the lowest of lows and through it all we have survived and even thrived. We will do so again.
Do we have much to fear from 1 party rule in Washington? Absolutely. But tonight is their night. Tomorrow the war begins anew. The question that remains is. Will you be content to sit on the sides complaining or will be be an active participant? I know which side I will be on, and I know I will not be alone.

I wonder who the left is going to hate now. They need something to project all of that anger on and you know Obama isn’t going to live up to their expectations. If we keep the Dems from 60, it’s going to be poor little Mitch McConnell who will just be using the little power he has to stop the occasional ridiculous hopenchange with a filibuster. If they get a supermajority and the Dems don’t have that figurehead to project all that hate onto…I’m assuming their heads will just spontaneously explode. I tend to agree with Kidd, but you make a undeniably valid point, Unseen.
However, liberals don’t share the scruples of conservatives and I doubt the strategy can be initiated successfully immediately.
I think it might be better to avoid the appearance of Obama Derangement Syndrome until there is some legitimate cause to hang it on. I base this on the likelihood that all of Obama’s voters, albeit kept in the dark by most of the MSM, don’t presently comprehend our concerns.
It won’t be long before our concerns will likely be realized, and when that happens there will be more understanding by the electorate. But if we jump the gun with the ODS, it may do more harm than good in the long run.
And since conservatives tend to be more grounded in reality than liberals, if our form of ODS is maintained at a level of legitimate outrage rather than unhinged paranoia, all the better for us.
Instead of ODS, I think VOOS might be better: Victim of Obama Syndrome.

I will… but as a newfound pessimist, I have to ask… do my pessimistic comments cross that line? (I ask you, as the resident pessimist). I really don’t think it matters, because we’re on the verge of collapse anyway, but I’m just curious.

Wow. I didn’t even see that. Disgusting. Almost so disgusting that I’m thinking that’s a lib troll. I dunno.

“FiveWays” = “‘real’ conservative”
these are the people who need to be jettisoned. not so-called “rinos”.

This is really very scary stuff (for those who know anything about history). Congratulations to BHO are not really called for.

Wow. Election night is bringing out the suicide commenters.

Frankly I think God is sick and tired of the nation that threw him out of schools, courthouses, government, and the public square in general. The big G got fed up enough with Israel to let them get run over…and they weren’t murdering millions of their own babies, legalizing buggery or cranking out Playboy.
Unless I miss my guess His will is to let us (as a nation) suffer the consequences of our own choices.

Five Ways and to all you other nuts, that is way over the line and I condone and renounce you. If you had been on anyones campaign I would have had you fired on the spot.
Keep it polite.

Don’t even joke. Not funny. We might not like the results, we may question the methods, but we are a country of laws. That is the best part of what makes American great. Otherwise we devolve into a banana republic.

Wait, how can this be? I thought Bush was a dictator and we were stuck with him for life? Thank you Dubya, for keeping us free from islaimic attacks for seven years.

Sadly, I have to second this.
We kicked God out long ago, not surprised if he decided to return the favor.

…too true…too true….
…a system which allows publicly funded advocacy groups to work for partisans ends unchaperoned…a system which rushes to excuse because a man’s skin color is the same as those who’ve suffered generations of bondage and cruelty, but whose own family suffered none…a system which allowed private citizens to be “vetted” for partisan ends when they dared to talk back…a system which, mark my words, will continue to shore up their sorry, new-won empire at all costs….
…if it’s back to opposition, they need to find out what opposition can be like…not that pissy, namby-pamby, schoolyard opposition of frat-boys and ex-geek-girls…but an opposition of a free people who will protect what they’ve earned and guard what they’ve built…even against the system….
…watch and wait….

My question is, where were the Republican voters?
Bush won over 53 million. Obama is just barely over 51 million.

AP, you’re the man.
Your realism, humility and humor are extraordinarily unique, and I hope you live forever.
Now where’s my fucking “Game Over” clip you bastard.
SouthernDem on November 5, 2008 at 12:32 AM
Don’t get your hopes up.
I saw an atheist friend get torn into for no reason the other day. I was absolutely disgusted. I hope nobody who claims to be on our side truly engages in that kind of hate. Simply disgusting.
