Congratulations, Obama

One of the last things Dean Barnett said to me was that, as best he could tell, Barack Obama is “a good guy and a decent man.” I don’t think he’d mind me telling you that, especially under the circumstances. It’s a testament to his generosity of spirit that even in the heat of a campaign, with every reason to think the worst of his opponent, Dean couldn’t help but give him the benefit of the doubt. That’s Barnett all over, and that’s what made him an indispensable man whom we’ve been forced, horrendously, to dispense with.

I offer that as comfort to those of you who have no faith in The One but who do have faith in, and abiding affection for, DB. My guess is he’d have handled the news tonight with the same magnanimity that distinguished all of his writing. So in that spirit, congratulations to Barry O on a race superbly run and to our country for not having let the wrong reasons deter it from making the wrong choice. I’ll never be a fan, but I swear I’ll never take a nutroots posture either in relishing his failures because it helps my party. Like it or not, he’s my president. As a great man once said, country first.

Thanks for being a voice of calm and reason today. People are just upset and acting out, that’s all. Now we should start to think about taking back the other branches of government in 2010, protecting ourselves from the worst of Obama’s policies as they impact our individual lives, and making sure he’s a one-termer. I don’t believe he can ruin this country in only one term, and hope that he will be opposed every step of the way.

The American people are concerned. They sense that we’re going in the wrong direction. They sense something is wrong. They understand that we’re in alot of trouble. They understand that when we talk about our children and grandchildren and great grandchildren, we’re not going have a country we can hand over to our children! This country is gonna be a third world banana republic, if it isn’t destroyed first, by the time our children are our age. That’s where we’re headed…. things have to change. It has to change. People need to want it though.

apacalyps on November 5, 2008 at 2:22 PM

Remember,… remember what happened in American history? How do we know we can change this? Because we’ve done it before. We can do it again. Remember the old song, “We did it before and we can do it again.” And it’s true. And if some of you don’t know that old song, it’s one of the songs that helped win WWII. It’s true. America was a nation of 13 puny little agricultural underpopulated colonies at the end of the earth that nobody took seriously. It was a joke. It was a backwater. It was a primitive little nothing of a country. And the 13 little puny, underpopulated agricultural colonies had a hard time even surviving and were fighting among themselves the whole time. And that impossible experiment. And that impossible little 13 colonies. That impossible little joke of a country. Was transformed into the mightiest, the wealthiest, the most powerful nation in human history. So, if that can happen, then certainly… now that we still are the mightiest and wealthiest, and most powerful nation in human history. Now that we still are in that position. We certainly can change the situation and turn the tide is we have the will to do so! There’s no doubt we can do it if we have the will to do so! We need to build a mass movement. Not of Republicans or Conservatives, or do-do heads that listen to talk radio or Fox… that’s NOT the answer! The answer is to build a brand new mass movement with a completely clean slate. with patriotic, God-fearing, Bible-believing, American gentiles. American gentiles should build this country. We need a patriotic, right-wing, Bible-believing, God-fearing, movement of righteous gentiles, who are gonna save this country. Who are gonna take this country back. If the American people were exposed to this message we would win!

Couple of quick points, then I’ve gotta go.

1. Manly Rash – I understand the reason you left, but you will be missed. Thank you for your stand on the wall.

2. I will, as I did in the Clinton years, respect the office, not the man. Toasts will be said, but no drink lifted.

3. I will not go easily. Find people who think like you. Drag them with you into the battle. Make your voice heard.

I love the fact no one is whining that they’ll ‘leave the country’. That’s a big difference between conservatives and liberals. We stay and fight for what we love.

Here’s to the battle ahead.

Sounds very..mm.. Al Qaida-ish to me.

Uncle_Aina on November 5, 2008 at 1:28 PM

I’ll admit to “talking smack” about William Ayers if “talking smack” means either (1) referring to the historical fact that he actively participated in a series of bombings or (2) quoting his own published statements regarding said bombings.

And yes, of course we know Dems own guns too, as Biden himself warned his own running mate, “if he tries to fool with my Beretta, he’s got a problem.” Now that’s talkin’ smack.

I wouldn’t lie to you my friend. Save the link and check it out later. One day soon, the world is going to be permanently altered by an event the magnitude of which has never been seen. On a day like any other day, millions of people are going to unexpectedly and unexplainedly vanish from the face of the earth. This is event is known as the Rapture and will soon happen. Jesus said,

“I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.” Luke 17:34-36

Afterwards will come a horrible time of trial and affliction on this earth for a period of 7 years. YOU DON’T WANT TO HAVE TO GO THROUGH THAT. THE BIBLE SAYS YOU PROBABLY WON’T MAKE IT OUT ALIVE.

There is a difference between being the President of the US and my President. My President insinuates a degree of accomodation, compromise, and support, none of which I plan to give the Messiah. I don’t care if another WWII or 9/11 happens on the guy’s watch. (I obviously will support my country in these situations, but that doesn’t mean that I must support the Messiah’s policies).

Therefore, using this logic, one can conclude that the Messiah might be the President of the US, but I’ll never support him as my President.

After the Rapture will come a horrible time of trial and affliction on this earth for a period of 7 years. This is known as the Tribulation Period. It will last for 7 years. Jesus will remove all Christians from the Earth, to protect them from this horrible time. I hope He removes you too MadisonConservative. I’ll be praying He does.

Does anybody here seriously believe that Obama won’t try to repeal the 22nd Amendment to exceed the number of terms FDR served?

47 now.

55 in November 2016 and entering his political prime.

Read Saul Alinsky and his rules for radicals. I mean, read it cover to cover. The goal of Alinsky and his followers is to obtain ultimate power by any means necessary. Once obtained, does anyone think a man as arrogant and elitist as Obama is will willingly go back to being “Mr. Obama, former President.”

Well, thanks to 62 million fools, Obama has achieved ultimate political power when one includes an ultra-liberal Congress (which will NOT be a check and balance to an Obama presidency).

Obama is not centrist. He is a committed leftists in the Alinsky style. He will never govern as a centrist. He and the left will do everything in their power, legal and extralegal, to move our “center-right” country into a “far-left” one, even if they have to suspend the Constitution.

Once they obtain power, the left never, ever intends lose it.

For those who think that with The One safely in office that the media will suddenly become “critical” of his performance as a “free press,” you’re smoking crack. They won’t, because they already fear the backlash against them by the public. So they won’t do anything to cause Obama to become “dis-elected.”

For those that think there will ever be fair, vote-fraud free, LEGALLY financed, elections again, you’re brain dead. The “loophole” allowing illegal domestic and foreign political contributions will never, ever be closed. Thank McCain for that!

For those who think that Obama and the Democrats will NOT hold “show trials” for Bush, Cheney, Rice, et. al., which is what their moveon.org base demands, you’re useful idiots.

And meanwhile the Democrats seem to be drifting toward the concept of prosecution of former office holders by criminalizing policy differences. That’s a certain formula for civil war; perhaps not immediate, but inevitable. The absolute minimum requirement for democratic government is that the loser be willing to lose the election: that losing an election is not the loss of everything that matters. As soon as that assurance is gone, playing by the rules makes no sense at all. (Pinochet learned that lesson. Fortunately for Chile, he was old and was allowed to die in peace; the inevitable — liberals can always find a good reason not to keep their word — persecutions after he turned over power on the assurance that he would be allowed to retire in peace were not so severe that his adherents didn’t take to their weapons.) Jerry Pournelle

This is an historic election. Not because a black man was elected, but because it marks the probable end of the Republic.

That is why Obama is not, and will never be, my President.

Oh, he’ll sit in the chair and rule us. But I’ll owe no obedience to him or those who support him.

And I intend to do everything legally in my power to register my opposition to him, his election, and his party.

And given the hatred I’ve already received by liberal Democrats both online and in person as a Republican, I intend to give them what they gave us.

And I don’t really care what anybody thinks.

So because he was elected President we should forget who he is and how he got there? We are supposed to forget the thuggery, the press cover-up, the illegal money, the illegal vote, the race baiting, the anti-American associations? and now we must give him our respect? Even if I were to forget all that, there is one thing I cannot forget and one reason why I cannot ever give him any kind of respect. That reason is his extreme position on the abortion issue. If the president cannot protect the most vulnerable among us, and worse than that, would deny newborn infants medical care when they are dying in agony on the table after being ripped from the sanctuary of their mother’s womb, then he is in my view an evil and heartless man, and not fit for the Presidency of the United States.
This is a dark and shameful day for our country.

profitsbeard on November 5, 2008 at 6:58 PM

Sorry, I didn’t mean to just single you out…was just glancing at the comments here and it seems to be the overall theme. But it is understandable the day after the end of a hard-fought 2 year campaign.

But after the venting and the soul-searching, the party of Lincoln must adhere to his call for us to live up to the better angels of our nature and make sure the strained passions do not break the bond of our union.

I think this country will succeed when we are all united in common purpose.

username-

Lincoln won the war when he was being generous.

Before winning he had Sherman March to the Sea.

Obama is a crypto-Marxist three-faced weasel.

My opinion before the election and nothing has changed it.

Haven’t seen this mentioned anywhere, but why is the big Zero spending today naming assholes to his transition team, instead of doing something about his grandmother’s funeral?

Cold, heartless, lying bastard.

dear senator government:
congratulations on singlehandedly destroying the dream of a great american. Dr. King dreamed of an america where ALL people were judged by the content of their character, not the color of their skin. you however, hid your truly poisonous, filth infested character behind empty rhetoric and accusations of racism. you cheated, lied, and bought a job for which you are not qualified. and you encouraged voter to ignore the content of your character deeming it “distraction from the issues”. last night millions of people chose to ignore the truth about you and voted for you based on the color of your skin so they could assure your zealots and themselves that they are not racist. yes senator your goal was to be elected BECAUSE OF the color of your skin so that you could make history. you care nothing for the country you will be sworn to serve, you care only about your own ambition and desire to make history. you wanted people to vote not on the content of your character but the color of your skin and you have gotten what you wanted. you will NEVER be my president. you may enjoy the title while you have it but i will NEVER recognize your authority. i will wait until a true leader who puts country first is elected before i say “congratulations, Mr./Mrs. President.”

““a good guy and a decent man.”

Depends on one’s definition. He did sit in the pews of a church operated by a radical pastor. He did open his political career in the living room of a domestic terrorist.
He did flip off a war hero, John McCain in the final days of his campaign.
Depends on your definition. Mine is a little more strict.

I can’t say I’m much of a Christian anymore, but that’s my background and this whole process reminded me of a passage that stuck with me from Sunday School.

1 Samuel 8
Israel Asks for a King

1 When Samuel grew old, he appointed his sons as judges for Israel. 2 The name of his firstborn was Joel and the name of his second was Abijah, and they served at Beersheba. 3 But his sons did not walk in his ways. They turned aside after dishonest gain and accepted bribes and perverted justice.

4 So all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah. 5 They said to him, “You are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways; now appoint a king to lead [a] us, such as all the other nations have.”

6 But when they said, “Give us a king to lead us,” this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the LORD. 7 And the LORD told him: “Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king. 8 As they have done from the day I brought them up out of Egypt until this day, forsaking me and serving other gods, so they are doing to you. 9 Now listen to them; but warn them solemnly and let them know what the king who will reign over them will do.”

10 Samuel told all the words of the LORD to the people who were asking him for a king. 11 He said, “This is what the king who will reign over you will do: He will take your sons and make them serve with his chariots and horses, and they will run in front of his chariots. 12 Some he will assign to be commanders of thousands and commanders of fifties, and others to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and still others to make weapons of war and equipment for his chariots. 13 He will take your daughters to be perfumers and cooks and bakers. 14 He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves and give them to his attendants. 15 He will take a tenth of your grain and of your vintage and give it to his officials and attendants. 16 Your menservants and maidservants and the best of your cattle [b] and donkeys he will take for his own use. 17 He will take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his slaves. 18 When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, and the LORD will not answer you in that day.”

19 But the people refused to listen to Samuel. “No!” they said. “We want a king over us. 20 Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles.”

21 When Samuel heard all that the people said, he repeated it before the LORD. 22 The LORD answered, “Listen to them and give them a king.”
Then Samuel said to the men of Israel, “Everyone go back to his town.”

Is there a point at which we can honestly question Obama without criticizing his entire race? I just wish he was more moderate. Why couldn’t they find someone who was moderate? Then we could all be happy together. This is the guy who wanted to surrender in Iraq remember? He voted against our troops. He voted to let babies die in closets. This is a scary man. This is a guy who believes in Reverend Wright and hates whitey even though he went to the best schools and had more opportunity than his white mother and grandparents. This is a man who doesn’t even think America is an exceptional place to raise his daughters. I want a better black President. Please. Could we have a do over?

The first black President is great but could we get a better guy for the job?

petunia on November 5, 2008 at 7:34 PM

petunia on November 5, 2008 at 7:34 PM

Exactly.

I wouldn’t mind one single bit if the Democrat party had nominated, say, Bill Cosby for President. (IMO, he’d rock) So the guy’s black – big effing deal. It’s the fact that America has just elected a nappy-headed Communist/Muslim that scares me.

Dark-Star on November 5, 2008 at 7:57 PM

Obama will be a disaster as a President. He is a radical socialist, anti-military appeaser. He does not have the experience and knowledge to be Commander In Chief. No, I won’t be respectful. I think we conservatives should treat Obama for what he is.

Phil Byler on November 5, 2008 at 7:59 PM

95% of blacks and 75% oh hispanics voted for the black racist and socialist muslim; that means that white america rejected Obama

Wow. That was wierd; I went looking to see what some of the regulars had to say “the day after” and I was disappointed to see that Manlyrash felt he needed to bail on the site. I don’t think he should feel he needs to do this- no one took him seriously. It was nice to have the optimism, but c’mon, this is just a place for us all to vent and share opinions- It’s only a matter of time before Barry gives us unending fodder for ridicule- the more the merrier, I say.

Conservatism in America is in a very unique position we no longer need to go out and seek the approval of everyone and their dog while ditching our principles in the process. Neo-Conservatism has not been working evident in Bush and McCain. We need to get back to our core principles, limited government, low taxes, free enterprise, strong defense.
Hopefully there is a better outlook in 2012.

As for the Democrats and Obama I hope they have the interest of our country ahead of their partisan agendas. If they proceed to pass far left legislation and raise taxes and spending I guarantee both unemployment and our deficit will grow. Companies that can not afford to pay workers will lay off workers. I sincerely hope that Obama is a successful president and does what is best for this country.

It is without question that I will be particularity critical of this administration and legislative body. However while being the first to point out faults and mistakes I am also open to giving credit when and if it is due. Let us not enter into this Presidency the way the Democrats entered Bush’s second term with anger, hate, and resentment, otherwise we will be doomed to failure. We Conservatives pride ourselves on our principles and values lets take the high ground on this one, and look forward to 2012.

Like it or not, he’s my president. As a great man once said, country first.

Bizzy on November 5, 2008 at 8:33 PM

Only in America can a President get elected with no business experience [except as a community organizer for ACORN], no foreign policy experience, no military experience, and his only political experience was 132 days on the Senate floor because he was out campaigning for Office. His choice of an inner circle the likes of Farakahn, Wright, Aeyers, etc makes him unfit to be Comander in Chief under any circumstances. This election is similar to when Hitler was able to con a population, and most of Europe also, so beware all of you ignorant Obama supporters when that bull—t of Change and Hope is not what you think it is

tocoloro on November 5, 2008 at 8:26 PM

they will definately try..but they’ll get an ugly surprise!! the Lord Himself will defend Israel…

Ezekiel 38..

18 This is what will happen in that day: When Gog attacks the land of Israel, my hot anger will be aroused, declares the Sovereign LORD. 19 In my zeal and fiery wrath I declare that at that time there shall be a great earthquake in the land of Israel. 20 The fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the beasts of the field, every creature that moves along the ground, and all the people on the face of the earth will tremble at my presence. The mountains will be overturned, the cliffs will crumble and every wall will fall to the ground. 21 I will summon a sword against Gog on all my mountains, declares the Sovereign LORD. Every man’s sword will be against his brother. 22 I will execute judgment upon him with plague and bloodshed; I will pour down torrents of rain, hailstones and burning sulfur on him and on his troops and on the many nations with him. 23 And so I will show my greatness and my holiness, and I will make myself known in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the LORD.’

all that is missing from that scenario is that israel stands alone…the US supports israel…until jan 20 2009..

Just please cut it out with the Chicken Little shrieks of “The End Times are coming! The End Times are coming!” The chance that you are right is incredibly tiny considering how many times that prediction has been made.
