Video: Peggy Noonan votin’ for … McCain

After weeks of suspense, she finally declares at around 4:10. I honestly don’t get it. After all the praise for The One’s coolness and supposed eloquence and passages like this about the ‘Cuda, she’s going Republican anyway?
In the end the Palin candidacy is a symptom and expression of a new vulgarization in American politics. It’s no good, not for conservatism and not for the country. And yes, it is a mark against John McCain, against his judgment and idealism.
Her last column declared “the imminent arrival of a new liberal moment.” Presumably this is her small way of standing athwart history yelling “stop.”

The undecided are breaking for McCain!!!

We’re all laughing at her superior intellect.

We don’t want you, Peggy.

guess she found out she wasn’t getting a job in the Obama PR department

Thanks for waiting PEGGY.
Nobody cares what you are doing…
originalpechanga on November 3, 2008 at 3:45 PM
After all that garbage she was spewing, she’s voting McCain…
Well, as long as the “base” of “real conservatives” around here vote McCain (even if it’s only for Palin) that’s good enough for me.
Every vote counts!

Something tells me Peggy’s internals tipped her to a McCain/Palin victory.
haikusrock on November 3, 2008 at 3:46 PM
Was it a real difficult decision for you Peggy?
Maxx on November 3, 2008 at 3:46 PM
funny thing with her Obama worship…she claims she turned on Bush after his second inaguration address which she called “messianic”. lot of irony there, in hindsight
jp on November 3, 2008 at 3:47 PM
Well that seals up the bitter old republican speechwriter vote
William Amos on November 3, 2008 at 3:47 PM
I just pray there are more people out there like Noonan. They can bash McCain and Palin all they want in public, as long as they pull the right lever tomorrow.
modin5540 on November 3, 2008 at 3:47 PM
Can’t put @#$% back in the horse. Thanks anyway for the vote, Margaret.

LOL
Dudley Smith on November 3, 2008 at 3:47 PM
She now sees that McCain has a chance so she’s hedging her bet.
The libs will never accept her, and now that she sees she may be “without a home” amongst us conservatives, she’s panicked.
It’s gonna be lonely out there, Peg.
BacaDog on November 3, 2008 at 3:47 PM
Who?
Good Lt on November 3, 2008 at 3:47 PM
Wow, we can all go on knowing that she is with us.
Uhm, I’m glad you are not totally silly, Peggy, but….well, join the club.
Go McCain and Palin!
kybowexar on November 3, 2008 at 3:47 PM
Her and Biden need to fight over who is smarter.

what a joke. i heard her interview on laura ingraham where she basically looked down her nose and said that sarah wasn’t “intellectual enough” for the job. she makes my skin CRAWL.
stick it, Peggy!
sandlin71 on November 3, 2008 at 3:48 PM
Noonan is a total traitor; she waits til the 11th hour to endorse McCain after penning glowy crap about Obama for weeks. What a waste of eloquence (sound familiar?). I wish she would just shut up already.
redfoxbluestate on November 3, 2008 at 3:48 PM
Hmm. She reminds me a RINO Columnist who…no can’t be her…she’s DEAD TO ME!
ronsfi on November 3, 2008 at 3:48 PM
Peggy Nooner: Give it a rest. You are simply trying to make nice with conservatives, after stabbing us in the back.
jbtripp on November 3, 2008 at 3:49 PM
You make me nauseas Peggy . . . but thanks for the vote.
rplat on November 3, 2008 at 3:49 PM
I can’t tell you how disappointed I have been in Peggy. She was kind of my pundit hero before. But she came across as a complete elitist and snob when talking about my girl Sarah.
Rightwingsparkle on November 3, 2008 at 3:49 PM
she apparently feels a righteous wind going McCain’s way
ConservativePartyNow on November 3, 2008 at 3:49 PM
Take a hike snob.
You’re gonna have to crawl through glass now to get back in good with us, traitor. We got enough squishes. Now you see McCain actually has a real shot and you start having second thoughts about SnObama? Too little, too late.
Iblis on November 3, 2008 at 3:49 PM
It is disappointing that Peggy has decided that Palin failed the Peggy Litmus Test. Wish any of us knew what it is?
Nonetheless she is voting for the right team.
Oxybeles on November 3, 2008 at 3:50 PM
so…who is she again?
YellowDawg on November 3, 2008 at 3:50 PM
Who the hell is peggy noonan???
PricklyPete on November 3, 2008 at 3:50 PM
I have been waiting with baited-breath to see what she was going to do because her opinion has been so valuable throughout this election season that I needed to know what she, the queen of conservative intellect, thought before I made my decision… /sarc
Seriously, this was her plan? Bad mouth the candidate (well, Palin) non-stop and then half-heartedly endorse the ticket to put on a show and not lose her standing? Who is she, Bill Clinton??
XWing5 on November 3, 2008 at 3:51 PM
I like Peggy Noonan. She has been a godsend for conservatives for the past 30ish years. The Ronald Reagan/Peggy Noonan team was un-freaking-believable.
I don’t care what she has said in the past month or so. Her record more than makes up for it. Her column should still be read.
/minority
Abby Adams on November 3, 2008 at 3:51 PM
Are you kidding me? Anybody who believes this windbag ought to see their analyst. She’s been dropping bombs on the McCain/Palin ticket from jump. She will execute the reverse-reverse Bradley effect in the voting boof’

I can’t take Peggy Noonen’s , voice, pitch, tenor, cadence, disposition, gestures, tone, emotion, drama, etc.

YellowDawg on November 3, 2008 at 3:52 PM
She’s got a new book….she needs an audience. pfffft!
aquaviva on November 3, 2008 at 3:52 PM
Let me see if I understand her thinking. McCain has already lost thus she can move back to the right and look good to us while not having to worry about Palin being VP.
nycjayhawk on November 3, 2008 at 3:52 PM
They said the same thing about her old boss too.

Peggy,
The Gipper is looking down from the Shining city on the hill and shaking his head saying….”There she goes again…”
With friends like Peggy, who needs enemies.
portlandon on November 3, 2008 at 3:53 PM
Brilliant strategy:
She endorses THE MESSIAH and publicly votes for McCain. Either way she will get invited to the right parties in DC over the next 4 years. And that’s what it really comes down to for most NYC/DC pundit types.

Obama must have tapped somebody else for the press secretary gig
I can see some classic youtube videos of Rev. Wright holding court now
joey24007 on November 3, 2008 at 3:53 PM
Now there’s a genuine surprise. Two possibilities.
1) She’s less confident about the coming O-pocalypse since the race is now pretty much even and she’s hedging her bets.
or
2) She actually has a conservative ideological compass (even if she’s still a snooty patrician) and can tell the difference between hating Palin and voting for Obama.
Lehosh on November 3, 2008 at 3:53 PM
Give McCain your vote, Peggy…
…and walk away, walk away…

This is why the GOP is in the state it’s in today, Republican elitists are out of touch with middle America.
Bulldogger on November 3, 2008 at 3:54 PM
she is a manhattan elistocrat who sips sweet champagne and talks about the worlds ills on the weekends with her liberal friends. some columnist who considers herself a conservative, but she claims that only because she feels we need her enlightenment to get by from day to day
what a joke!
sandlin71 on November 3, 2008 at 3:54 PM
My next door neigbor says she’s voting for McCain too.
Why on earth would anyone be enough of an idiot to think that either of those facts warrents a headline?
logis on November 3, 2008 at 3:54 PM
Just like Biden running for re-election in the Senate (what? doesn’t he have faith in “That One”), Noonan doesn’t want to be out on the cold Wednesday should Urkel lose tomorrow.
Brass Pair on November 3, 2008 at 3:54 PM

3) she finally got done with menopause
YellowDawg on November 3, 2008 at 3:54 PM
Did she endorse Obama off camera?

Hey, if that means a McCain victory tomorrow, I’ll take it!
Abby Adams on November 3, 2008 at 3:55 PM
Scarborough is not a son of the South. Peggy Noonan ain’t a conservative. She seems a little too affected for my taste.
Red Bennet on November 3, 2008 at 3:55 PM
She hates Palin for the same reason George Will hates Palin.
It is because they consider her a commoner.
Now she will be a hypocrite and vote for her best interests after trashing Palin and attempting to weaken the repub ticket.
Peggy is a summer soldier and sunshine patriot. She failed when the BHO crisis arrived.
Conservatives have long memories Peg.

Someone cue the “Incredible Hulk” ending credits music.
Dr.Cwac.Cwac on November 3, 2008 at 3:55 PM
Peggy and Frum are really ridiculous aren’t they? Pushing McCain down and then all of a sudden, ‘Yeah I’ll vote for him!’
These two have done so much harm by spilling their propaganda to the MSM and don’t realize it. Out of touch elitists.
Screw them!
Everyone go out there and vote for McCain/Palin. I am sure that we can throw some icy cold water on the MSM and especially that hothead Olbermann and Matthews.
jencab on November 3, 2008 at 3:55 PM
Thank God!
Just a reminder, When I asked the Magic 8 ball about obama winning the election: “Don’t count on it”!..: o )
I put more faith in prayer.
christene on November 3, 2008 at 3:55 PM
I’m not surprised. I’ve said all along she was no Chris Buckley. Being critical of Palin doesn’t make you a turncoat. Rock on, Peggy! I knew you’d come through.

I will never forgive her for trashing President Bush and then Gov. Palin.

Not to start class warfare tripe, but, she reminds me of of an aunt I had growing up who lived in a bigger house and drove a bigger car(late 50’s early-60’s you know the type of folks I mean). She, too, drank a hell of a lot more than she should have. And thought she knew a lot more than she did. Shall I say a “Country Club Republican”. I liked her husband, my uncle.
He hated the Kennedy’s. She didn’t.

TheBigOldDog on November 3, 2008 at 3:57 PM
Now that she’s done all the damage she can, she’s attempting to salvage her career by voting McCain.
jonezee on November 3, 2008 at 3:57 PM
You know, vulgar has an old meaning of “the common people, the general public”. And in a sense Peggy is right. Gov. Palin comes from the common people. Unlike Obama and Biden she’s not a lawyer, she has run a small business and has struggled through personally tough economic times. But last time I checked, the idea of the United States of America is that we can rule ourselves, we don’t need a permanent political class to lord over us. Quite honestly, we need someone in DC who hasn’t been in the Senate since Gerald Ford was president.
And Peggy Noonan, you would do yourself a world of good to spend a few years outside the Beltway. It’s a toxic environment.
rbj on November 3, 2008 at 3:57 PM
Peggy does have a lot in common with Obama.. says one thing, does another
beththebaker on November 3, 2008 at 3:57 PM
Noonan’s columns have indicated a disorganized, tangential thought process for a long time now. Even before her tirades against Palin she seemed to be struggling.
She should probably retire no matter what happens on Tuesday.
clnurnberg on November 3, 2008 at 3:57 PM
We weren’t wondering how conservatives were going to vote, Peg. Thanks for informing our ignorance about your vote, though.
Akzed on November 3, 2008 at 3:58 PM
Why are Murphy, Scarborough, Noonan so shy about voting for McCain… if smth ran the campaign of both Hillary and McCain into the ground is the shameful constant reminder that Obama is a great guy, that defeating racism is a great accomplishment etc..
Couldn’t they just wait to discuss the history making after the election, it’s election eve and they’re basically celebrating his skin color instead of looking at his character, which was the point in the beginning.. “judging the content of his character”.
shameful

I dig you, Abby. However, I am a little put off by all the publicity she got for her criticism of Palin. THAT’S what, pardon my expression, the mob will remember.
Hispalintologist on November 3, 2008 at 3:59 PM
That’s kinda what I told my UAW/Caterpillar consevative brother.
Ask the union brothers what the Dhimmicrats have done for them. Remind them of abortion/infanticide stance of Osamabamamessiah. Etc.
And then tell them that their vote is secret. No one will know for whom they pull the lever. They can continue to “pull” for Osamabama, but do the right thing.

Peggy can go and party with the leftist. She’s not a real conservative. If you have even a bit of doubt of what Obama is made of, for intellectuals like her, it is a no brainer. Sorry but we don’t need Peggy anymore. Same goes for David Frum, Brooks and Kathleen Parker. Just stay where you are and we will be fine.
