Video: Peggy Noonan votin’ for … McCain
posted at 3:42 pm on November 3, 2008 by Allahpundit
After weeks of suspense, she finally declares at around 4:10. I honestly don’t get it. After all the praise for The One’s coolness and supposed eloquence and passages like this about the ‘Cuda, she’s going Republican anyway?
In the end the Palin candidacy is a symptom and expression of a new vulgarization in American politics. It’s no good, not for conservatism and not for the country. And yes, it is a mark against John McCain, against his judgment and idealism.
Her last column declared “the imminent arrival of a new liberal moment.” Presumably this is her small way of standing athwart history yelling “stop.”

Blowback

First Frum, now Noonan? Dude, what’s happening? The Obama date-rape drug wasn’t supposed to wear off for another 24 hours!

Nothing to add except:
Peggy Nonnan, go pound sound you hack!
kahall on November 3, 2008 at 9:20 PM
God I had to listen to that pinhed Joe for one sentence from the nut Noonan
KBird on November 3, 2008 at 9:23 PM
Eff you Peggy Noonan (and George Will too), we do not want your vote you effing heifer.
Hilts on November 3, 2008 at 9:35 PM
I liked Peggy before and I like Peggy now!
ggoofer on November 3, 2008 at 9:47 PM

Thanks for the vote, now get out and take Colin Powell with you.

Maybe they thought they were leaving a sinking ship and didn’t see the plague flag on the one they hopped aboard.
JEM on November 3, 2008 at 11:19 PM
I don’t get these guys, the damage is done from what they said and how they acted before. We need a new breed of conservative writers to take the place of the wine and cheese party poofs. There are a bunch right here that post.
hawkdriver on November 3, 2008 at 11:29 PM
Peggy Noonan in her response to the question: “What is conservatism?” showed her intellectual vapidity;more like pseudo-intellectual drivel. She meanders around the question and then drops a few quips about whether conservatism is a philosophy or a “program of settled ideas.” If she is supporting Obama, then she doesn’t know what a conservative is. Doesn’t she remember how her old boss articulated the tenets of conservatism so well? Those of limited government, of a society based on the individual, not the state. Socialist societies are state-based and are under-girded by a belief in an expanding government that controls the population through regulation, taxation and force (Obama-style) Socialist societies seek to control the population by creating dependency on the federal government (Obama-style). Also, Ms. Noonan’s comments about Sarah Palin are despicable, and a slap in the face of strong, successful women everywhere. Mrs. Palin is the real thing, smart, articulate, with executive experience and an ability to articulate conservative principles eloquently. No, Sarah Palin doesn’t fit into the Georgetown social scene that Ms. Noonan travels in and you know, I don’t think Mrs. Palin gives a damn about those elitist Washington circles, and that makes her a breath of fresh air, and someone that the liberal nimrods just don’t understand.
Mark7788 on November 3, 2008 at 11:32 PM
Peggy Noonan:
Either: Sexist as all the rest that she doesn’t think a female VP should be an attack dog, even if that is the VP’s job when a man is VP. Does she think she should be the rose pedal spreader for McCain, or do what VP’s do?
Or: Trying to make sure she stays on the cocktail circuit if Obama wins.
Whichever it is, we’ll take her vote and she can take a hike.

Piggy Noonan….
Do me a favor, take your snobby views and go hang out with your buds at MSNBC.
Gottrocks on November 3, 2008 at 11:43 PM
Oh, Peggy, didn’t you get the memo? We don’t want you back. Your friend Barry will have a couple years left in the Senate after he loses this election. Maybe you can go work for him on the Hill.
t.ferg on November 3, 2008 at 11:45 PM
Screw you Noonan. You are an elitist and a phoney. Your dissing of Sarah Palin was unfair and untrue. I will never read anything that this woman writes in the same light, if I read her at all. Let me repeat F— you Peggy.
geo11 on November 3, 2008 at 11:50 PM
Great Peggy, you sycophantic media whore.
That’s just so freekin wonderful votin for McCain, of course it means nothing in the BLUEISHofBLUE NY.

I used to admire Noonan’s writing skills; however, when she trashed Sarah Palin, my admiration for Noonan’s beautiful writings vanished along with my respect for her.
But even if she has now declared she’s voting for McCain, my respect for her as a person and as a writer has definitely disappeared. For good.
mz.josephine on November 4, 2008 at 1:05 AM
I was never really fan of her’s. Only had read a few article and video interviews and such….
but, giving the life of her free speech…I shall choose to view with more scrutiny and aware and /or choose not to read at all.
hawkman on November 4, 2008 at 1:11 AM
I never could stand this twit. So, she is not going to vote for Nobama? And is voting for McCain. So big of you Peg leg.
sheebe on November 4, 2008 at 1:25 AM
With all the respect and admiration I used to have for Peggy Noonan. I cannot bear to either read or listen to any of her articles or commentaries.
Mrs. Noonan, You are A Blue Blood Cocktail 495 Beltway Political Hack.
Emphasis, HACK
Goodbye and please let the door slap you on your ass.

Kini on November 4, 2008 at 2:00 AM
And to think that people like Noonan, Parker, Smurfconish, etc. want to be “in the conversation” about the future of the Republican Party.
In an election where the very nature of our country is at stake, they went over to the dark side.
They can have conversations with themselves.
They drew the line. Now they’re on the other side of it.
And there’s no turning back.
either orr on November 4, 2008 at 2:21 AM
Where did the video go? It had MSNBC calling Pennsylvanians racist right at the end.
Phoenician on November 4, 2008 at 2:40 AM
Smerconish is a bald headed smurf. I used to listen to him at 5:30am on the Big Talker in Philly. I don’t know who he is anymore.
To trash Palin is liken to Trashing us. What these Talkers don’t get is why we like Palin.
She is one of us.
To me, these Big talkers, are Big Blovators. They’ve lost their base.
Just like the Republican party has lost its base.
There is still… Rush, Medved, Prager, and…. Savage
Kini on November 4, 2008 at 3:23 AM
I agree with you here but let’s not avoid the obvious. A McCain win saves our nation – but does absolutely nothing to advance conservatism.
To some degree, we are all on the other side of the line. Don’t get me wrong, I am not a coward like Noonan and Parker and what they did was treasonous as far as I am concerned.
Regardless of who wins, Pelosi is going to be running the show. And regardless of who wins, just count on Pelosi to tell him to vote present and stay the hell out of the way.
Our supporting of McCain is more about Country First than party first. But it is what it is.

The Chinese have a saying:
Dzou tsuo de lu, hwei de lai,
Shwou tsuo de hwa, hwei bu lai.
If you take the wrong road you can come back,
but if you say the wrong words you can never take them back.

Noonan, blanking tool, she wants to be relavant, it is how she pays the bills, she is on TV! Way to go out on a limb Peggy how brave.

Off topic. With everything they have going for them, how the hell did the Chinese allow themselves to be enslaved by communism? Is it the natural result of centuries of feudal overlord domination or am I being too simplistic (as usual)?

She should remember Reagan’s eleventh Commandment, “Thou shall not speak ill of a fellow Republican.” She is now merely a Republican imposter part of the democrat’s fifth column. She is a boring has-been who rose to National prominence on the coat-tails of great Republicans. She returned the favor by sticking a knife in the back of the loyal few…

Somebody please tell me why I should give a rat’s ass who Noonan SAYS she’ll vote for. Hope the door hits ya where the Good Lord split ya, fat Peg.

Peggy, I can’t trust you anymore, girl. How do I know you won’t go in the booth and pull the lever for The One?
SilentWatcher on November 4, 2008 at 9:54 AM
I totally lost respect for you Ms. Noonan. You sold your supporters and most importantly your values down the river for a slickster.
I won’t be clicking on your opinion page links any more.

Which side of her mouth was she speaking from?

Too little, too late, Peggy. I’m never reading your column again. Vote for whoever the hell you want to…

Please go to hell. Use the quickest and most efficient mode of transportation available.
Thank you.

Peggy Noonan is doing damage control. To little too late. I won’t read her BS anymore. ADIOS PEG!
byteshredder on November 4, 2008 at 12:44 PM
She’s lying so she can still play “inadequate pseudo-conservative talking head” on MSLSD. Otherwise, they throw her off…they have more than enough commies on the show to slam republicans and don’t need another one.
wildweasel on November 4, 2008 at 12:59 PM
Peggy, there was a time when I enjoyed your articles and would share them with friends. That ceased some time ago when you started trashing Sarah Palin. Were you offended that she was not seeking your good opinion, were you jealous of her accomplishments, do you hate to see other women get ahead, or were you simply jealous of the support she gained once America got to know her? Whatever your reason(s), you lost a reader. I am a woman who takes great pride in her success. She speaks in terms all can understand and does not attempt to sway people with clever rhetoric. She is down to earth and able to relate to others so naturally that she does not have to seek a clever phrase
as you so often attempt to do. I am sorry that you were too blind to see what a genuine woman leader looks like.

One more good thing to come from this election year, the true conservatives finally see who the rats are. The so-called intelligencia turned out to be nothing more than a bunch of self-serving, spineless, blow hards. I don’t want them in the fox hole with me, and that’s what we’ll need most in the coming years, people we can trust and stand shoulder to shoulder with. Sara’cuda will be leading the way with Michael Steele, Mike Pence, et al.
Again; Peg, go to hell and take the broom you rode in on with you. I’ll never read another column you write.
