Video: Obama scratches mouth with middle finger, earns banner treatment on Drudge

An unlikely meme du jour for the day before the election, but you go to war with the content you have. Here’s the video of him supposedly doing this to Hillary in April. To believe it’s intentional, you have to believe The One is either stupid or reckless. Uncomfortably comfortable with radical leftists? Yes. Vastly overrated as an orator? Yes. Stupid and reckless? No.
It’ll be fun watching Drudge follow this dopey tic throughout The One’s term if he wins tomorrow, though. One absent-minded chin scratch with the wrong finger during a summit with Vladimir Putin and presto — international incident.

YRM is a perfect example of why HotAir should not have open comments registration right before election day.
BigD on November 3, 2008 at 3:02 PM
and I wonder who was pushing for that opening? could it have been Allah to get the conservatives down a little more by allowing trolls galore in?

Calling Dr. Freud. Please see Mr. Obama and discuss his unconscious use of hand gestures when speaking about political opponents.

Normally that kind of behavior wouldn’t be logical, but since he’s obviously a liberal, it makes perfect sense.
He (or she) just happened to be around when registration was open and decided to cause a little trouble and fully expects to get banned……
I say, let’s put him out of his misery now!!!
Let’s just all send a troll email alert to Allah and Ed starting right now.

Off topic: FOX News Babe Harris Faulkner just ran a quick blurb… In Florida, along one of the highways, someone dumped many thousands of completed voter registration forms. They are just blowing around along the median.
Police say “it is a civil matter”.
I don’t quite know what to think about that, but it would be pretty easy to come up with some good conspiracy theories.

Not just a good thing, Manly, but an absolute imperative if our Republic is to survive.

If you’re an American, this is your country, but being a poster at a blog is not the same as being a citizen.
Exactly. I don’t want you to shut up. I just think it’s nonsense for people to read blogs and bloggers they don’t like.
And while I’m not calling you a troll, attacking someone specifically to get others angry is the definition of trolling. You’re defining yourself as a troll.
Allah doesn’t have a religion, and since when is criticism of our candidates not news? Was he supposed to pretend it didn’t exist?

Watch the Messiah always scratch his head with his index finger just before he delivers a prepared “funny” line.
He does it here also.
It’s on purpose.
He’s out of control.
Delivering Malcolm X lines this week “hoodwinked” “bamboozled”
He will create a Civilian National Security Force that’s as large as the military.

Show me video of Obama doing the middle figure scratch any other time on any other subject and I will let this pass as unprovable and unimportant. Otherwise I say it is unprovable, unimportant* and very likely true.
*Unless you endorse Obama due to him having a first class temperament.
abw on November 3, 2008 at 3:11 PM
Not “stupid and reckless enough” to do what he was clearly doing? That’s like saying he’s too moral to vote against keeping infants alive. He did what he did, both times. He’s way too immature to be President.
edj on November 3, 2008 at 3:12 PM
Ya know, on one hand it might be good to let the Dem’s hang themselves by letting them have the White House, Congress and the Senate for four years. At least it would shut up all the lefty blogs. No more, “they stole the election” for a few years. On the other hand, what if it’s the last real election? With the MSM suckling at the teat of the chosen one and the democrats in control of the house and senate, what keeps the Dem’s from doing away with the two term limit? Acorn gets all the money they need to secure the vote for the Democrats and Obama is president for life.
RetiredLifeguard on November 3, 2008 at 3:12 PM
Yes, really. You appear to be unfamiliar with his old blog and the response to it by some elements. If people wish to use aliases, that’s their business. That other people chose to use their real name is irrelevant to those who choose not to.

I was introduced to AP during the Rathergate affair via AofSH. Ace and AP, based on the years I’ve read, seem to be decent friends. AP stopped his own blog after the Yankees lost the World Series but he would do great audio and photoshop mash ups and is a hit with people who like MM, LGFs, and Ace.
AP hasn’t always been this negative. Ace and AP are both non-religious, non-social conservative, fiscal conservatives. That hasn’t changed and they both seem to have difficulties with religious conservatives directing the GOP. I may be religious but I think that on that level they have a point. I disagree with some of their views regarding social issues but I think most of us ‘conservatives’ agree that these things are not the responsibility of the government to police. If it’s not in the constitution it is the state’s right, or amend the constitution.
Having said all that, I have no problem saying my view about AP right now. I’m p!ssed! He’s playing bad cop to Ed’s good cop and MM’s okay with this and it’s her right to do so. How things have changed around here are fundamental. MM has her own blog so why HA? It was supposed to be and original was a Vlog. However, I can’t remember the last time MM did a video commentary. It went by the wayside when Brian left to work on Laura Ingraham’s radio show pretty much. As for AP, he has always had disdain for McCain as long as I’ve been reading him. He never seemed to be moved by any of the primary candidates, and, I suspect, would like to have the US suffering under a completely Liberal government for compare and contrast reasons. If sh!tty stuff gets put into place under their control, Democrats have to OWN all that sh!tty legislation. There will be no scapegoats. My problem with that philosophy (which I must admit I had when McCain first got the nod) was that Obama is so bad it will be a very, very, very, long time for us to recover from that kind of lesson making. I certainly don’t want my children to suffer through that kind of despair.
For all you AP defenders. ‘Tis your right. Yet, it ’tis my right to bitch and complain about him when I feel the need. I read his BS, so I’ve been registered for a while, he can read my BS. Unless, even though I’m a conservative non-troll, I’m not allowed free speech because AP’s too big of a baby wimp to hack it. So far, he doesn’t seem to be the weepy willow so I’m sure he can defend himself if necessary.
But I guess it is fun to argue how bad or not bad APs’ admitted Eeyore-ism is at this point.

Stuff like this would only be stupid and reckless if it were done by anyone but Obama. Media bias is the only plausible explanation for this sort of thing not becoming a “Macaca” moment or Quayle’s “potatoe” incident.

No, I don’t think unseen is a troll and would never make that claim.
Yes, I am a little riled up. That’s true. I’m sick of people ragging on Allah all the time. He’s not perfect, but he’s brilliant and without the Vents, he is Hot Air.
He’s pessimistic. Well, many of us are. I don’t like McCain and believe we’ll have a horrible president no matter who wins, but with Palin I have some hope and even donated for the first time to a campaign (or rather, to the RNC for the campaign).
Are you going to deride me now just because I’m not convinced we’re going to win?

TexasJew on November 3, 2008 at 3:27 PM
Yes he does. It’s called Atheism. And he spends a good percentage of his blogging time mocking those who don’t agree with it.
I think it’s fun for him to mock his readers.
Gregor on November 3, 2008 at 3:27 PM
Good point.
Esthier on November 3, 2008 at 3:27 PM
I’m well aware of the fact that neither of you are trolls and would never claim such, but to argue the point, if AP can’t take the heat why hasn’t he ever, ever banned anyone for raking him across the coals.
I’ve seen plenty banned for being completely inappropriate (one guy calling him a faggot comes to mind) but he’s never suppressed someones criticisms.
SouthernDem on November 3, 2008 at 3:29 PM
He’s not a religious atheist. If he were, Christian Michelle would never have hired him. He has no problem getting along with Michelle, Brian, Ed and Mary Katherine Ham.
And while there were a couple occasions I think he went too far, I’d say it’s a stretch that he “mocks” his readers. More often than not, his readers mock atheists, religiously.
Esthier on November 3, 2008 at 3:29 PM
Exactly. You’d have to believe he’d be reckless enough to attend a racists, anti-American church where the pastor sells videos of his sermons. Or you’d have to believe he’d tell a room full of supporters people of PA cling to guns and religion and hate outsiders, or tell a newspaper he’s going to cause energy prices to “skyrocket” and bankrupt the coal industry. You’d have to believe he’d claim the US Military is carpet bombing villages in Afghan.
I mean to believe such things is just crazy! The man just likes to unnaturally use his middle finger to scratch his face when he talks about his opponents. What’s wrong with that?
TheBigOldDog on November 3, 2008 at 3:31 PM
No, go back and look at YRM or whatever’s posts. Every single one was about something AP said to him and hoping he gets fired. And it joined this morning. That’s a troll.
SouthernDem on November 3, 2008 at 3:31 PM
Exactly. So many of his critics like to talk about the possibility of being banned, but he’s never done it. Either the attacks don’t bother him or he simply values free speech that much.
Esthier on November 3, 2008 at 3:31 PM
I think the people who are calling for Allahpundit to be fired are crossing the line. Just because you don’t agree with him doesn’t mean he should be silenced. AP is a good writer. I don’t always agree with him but I like to read what he has to say. He has to blog for hours at end so I’m not surprised that I disagree with him sometimes.

This is prescribed aggressive behavior from within the campaign, just like the angry pointing. It’s not a mistake that he is doing exactly the opposite of what normal people would do if running for Pres and trying not to look like the angry aggressive black man. Watch the live ending of his infomercial in the second video here (sadly HuffPo has the best isolated clip I could find).
He’s sending viewers a message of his complete command and authority. That’s part of the NLP con game he’s been running the entire election. He’s doing so many things “wrong” but actually even the insults are intentional and part of the con to display authority. He is attempting to establish his supreme command over these other “lesser” authority figures in our minds by brazenly accidentally flipping them off or with his obvious personal/sexist demeaning insults. If they even refer to his ideology or previous job title though, then the race card is used.

good point. But if Allah banned those that disagreed with him at one time or the other. he would lose about 50% of his readership. It is a simple fact that among the right blogs Allah is the eyeore of the right and most laugh at him for it. If he started banning people I think the other blogs on the right would be happy to have Hotair readers.
unseen on November 3, 2008 at 3:36 PM
LOL! Trolls? I’m not a troll. I’ve been here since Michelle started the site, and I agree with Michelle about 99.5% of the time and Ed about 90% of the time. Does the fact that I don’t think Allah belongs as a blogger on a conservative site mean I’m a troll? Does the fact that I get angry when the head blogger purposely mocks Christians for fun mean I’m a troll?
You continue to suggest that those who don’t agree with Allah should simply not come to HotAir, but that is a childish belief. I’m sure you don’t agree with everything you watch on TV, read in newspapers or on the internet, are told by others. You don’t spend your life hiding in your grandmother’s basement to avoid being exposed to it, do you?
We read HotAir because it’s one of the best sources of information, and for the most part … we know we’re going to see news that won’t be covered elsewhere in the main stream media. It doesn’t mean we have to agree with Allah’s opinion when he comments on that story.
You people are acting just like Obama supporters. You attack anyone for speaking out against your buddy Allah. How dare they! They must be silenced!

You should be of the GOP politcians that get elected here, not the actual constituents who do their best to get these pretend GOP grafters out of government. These politicians are all the likes of Sen. Stephen and I liken my and my fellow city dwellers to be like Sarah Palin. The GOP Riverside supervisors and CA GOP itself pour over a million dollars into the recall of the mayor in my small obscure city. They ran phone bank computer calls that said it was disgruntled Democrats that were behind a recall. No, it wasn’t. It was conservatives that don’t particularly like over-development, government waste, and corruption in their cities. These politicians were getting so much money in kick backs from developers besides their own investments it was ridiculous. Scary fact is that most of these so-called Republican politicians around here are like that. RINOs looking to use unsuspecting,anti-activist,conservatives to line their own pockets. I was happy that the citizens of my city saw through it and kicked them out. It was a shock to the system to have your own Party fight against you just to get developers dollars in their coffers. It makes me distrustful of those who merely claim to be Republican. Without ideology to back it, it’s in name only and it doesn’t make you a Republican.
Sultry Beauty on November 3, 2008 at 3:37 PM
In case all you do for news is read blogs, then I need to tell you something, the vast majority of the news that has come out about Palin in the last two months has been very negative. Why would Allah be expected to ignore that when the rest of the media won’t? What good is it to ignore that?
And it’s not even just Allah who blogged about the Republican writers who decided to support socialism. Even Ed blogged about these issues as well. People at Hot Air were so interested in Buckley’s article that it turned into three posts all on the same subject.
It seems losing your respect is an easy thing to do if that’s all it took.

This is a business. I imagine both Ed and AP receive compensation based on traffic. Allowing new registrants at election time generates more traffic. As a capitalist, it makes good sense. If we aren’t mature enough to make our own decisions on whether to vote or who to vote for, we’re giving way more power to the mods of a blog than they deserve. I like them both, although I don’t agree with either of them all the time. They make a nice counterbalance.
a capella on November 3, 2008 at 3:39 PM
Agreed. I never call for him to be fired. However, these are very tense moments and people are emotional. Let people vent, it’s not like MM is going to fire him because a few people yell to do so. I figure he’ll go back to AP as usual, and we’ll all take a chill pill and move on. We’ll eventually get around to playing nice in the sandbox.
Sultry Beauty on November 3, 2008 at 3:40 PM
Just for the record …
I haven’t called for Allah to be fired. Do I think he should be blogging here? No, but that doesn’t mean the dude should lose his job because I disagree with his views.
I do think Michelle should put a stop to the blatant mocking of Christians though. Being a Christian herself, I’m surprised she’s put up with that. I don’t mind it when Allah asks questions about various religions, debates the issue, or even states his opinion that it’s wrong. Unfortunately, Allah seems to have fun going out of his way to mock Christians, simply because he knows it will keep the comment section busy.

I didn’t call you a troll. I defined what a troll is. If you feel I’m talking about you, then that’s your own guilty conscious, not mine.
A troll is someone who says something for the sole purpose of angering others. Is that why you’re attacking Allah? I was assuming you had better motives, but if you think I was calling you a troll even after I defined exactly what a troll is, then maybe I’m wrong about you.
I don’t hide from it, but I also don’t continue to read or watch things I don’t like. I don’t like Two and a Half Men, and guess what, I don’t watch it. When I accidentally flip to a channel it’s on, I change the channel. It’s really easy to do, and I fail to see how it’s childish to decide to not inflict something I don’t enjoy on myself.
Masochism isn’t my thing. If it’s yours, then more power to you.
No, it’s not. It takes other sources of information and posts them here. It’s rarely a source of information itself.
I’m not attacking anyone. I’m simply pointing out how illogical your actions are.

The difference being that, unlike Colmes, Allahpundit is not an idiotic, liberal tool. He is an extremely intelligent, highly talented writer whose insights and observations become the essence of Devil’s Advocacy here at Hot Air. And every good blog has a Devil’s Advocate, lest it become little more than a navel-gazing echo chamber. A quick visit to the lunatic asylum that passes for DKos, DU and Huffpo is ample warrant for the presence of balance here at Hot Air.
Moreover, Allah’s posts – as I have pointed out repeatedly – act to innoculate us against overconfidence, the very thing that we see in the Obama campaign.
Allah is a cold splash of water, a hard slap in the face, a 2×4 upside the head.
The weak and thin-skinned carp and moan and b!tch about it. The intelligent and mature will sprinkle a few grains of salt on his posts and consume them, for there is always a nugget of wisdom in every dish he prepares – even when it’s humping robots.
If there is any doubt, then listen up: Allahpundit has the Official Manly Rash Seal of Approval.

you mean the report that could not prove that she used any power to fire that guy. Not one shred of proof.
You mean the fact that she has fired up the base and besides Obama has drawn the most crowds, infused the most money into a campaign. you mean the ratings she brings to every event she has on TV.
Or do you mean the edited, chopped up gotcha interviews of her on CBS and ABc.
Or do you mean the string convention speech and debate performace she had. The facts and figures she talks about on energy policy
Her policy speech on woman’s issues that strangly the MSM and Allah didn’t cover.
Her policy speech on energy that again was not covered?
Maybe you are talking about her drug use, no that’s obama. her smoking no obama again.
Maybe you are talking about the 18,000+ people that showed up today in MO to her her speak while biden got 400. That is massive negative news.
Maybe you are talking about her meeting and the good words those she met had to say about her like Balwin, head of SNL, etc…
Yeah all that negative news….
but since you listen to ALlah of course you see only negative news on Palin infact your posts prove my point. If you listen to allah you would think that Palin was a drag on the ticket unquailified for the VP slot and scandal prone. If instead you go to places like Ace, or gatewaypundit. hillbuzz etc you get a different picture

I agree, but that’s why I thought one headline post was quite enough. I didn’t bother reading any of the other Buckley posts (not that I can recall) so I don’t know what they were about.
progressoverpeace on November 3, 2008 at 3:47 PM
Dude, you are so hilariously gullible when it comes to this effing douche. He pulls the exact same stunt with McCain that he pulled with Hillary, and it’s a “tic”?
You’re worse than McCain when it comes to projecting nobility on this street punk.

This reminds me of an incident @ my bank a few months ago. I signed on the sheet to talk to the manager and seated myself in the wait area. 10 mn later a youngman in US army uniform walked in, signed the sheet, and took up a seat to wait for his turn. When my turn came, I asked the manager to help the kid in uniform first. The manager happily agreed and the soldier thanked me profusely .
But a customer waiting in a line by the tellers actually BOOoooD me, real loud .
For some ppl, this gesture of contempt is a natural instinctive reaction everytime a patriot is mentioned.
macncheez on November 3, 2008 at 3:49 PM
People at Hot Air were so interested in Buckley’s article that it turned into three posts all on the same subject.
Esthier on November 3, 2008 at 3:38 PM
Again you prove my point. There was no reason for three posts. I have seen posts with hundreds and thousands of comments. Allah simply wanted to drive the point home.

Yeah I love sending stuff in just to come here and watch people read it. Im a little too crazy about it though heh
In the coming months this blog will be more important than ever.

It’s the game. He gets to play Captain Bligh, we get to play mutinous crew. It’s supposed to be fun, people. Duhhh….
Fortunata on November 3, 2008 at 3:50 PM
No, I wasn’t deriding you on that. I didn’t deride any commenters only to correct I think are mis-statements. Just as others sometimes feel the need to do with me. I never take it personal. But if you can’t be honest with yourself that AP has been posting MAINLY (I’d be kind if I said it was 75-25) negative posts that do nothing but dishearten and demoralize the very people the support him and this site. As a conservative, my philosophy is based on optimism, and happiness. Peace, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Coming to a blog that spouts out more than 50% negative commentary does not fit in my conservative mentality and I have no problem to express my distaste for it. If it was always like this then I’d say, ‘I maybe ought to go elsewhere. There’s nothing to be said or done here.’ But it hasn’t has it? So, I feel the need to express my disappointment in the change in tone of the site. Nothing more, nothing less.
Again, unseen if my very small echo chamber. I think the emotions do run high here that people cannot see the forest through the trees.

He is not stupid or reckless, but he clearly has poor judgment, and does not fear accountability. I wonder how he could have gotten the idea that he will not be held accountable?
lionheart on November 3, 2008 at 3:51 PM
But the Devil’s advocate is supposed to be a supporting actor, not the main character.
I like Allah’s writing, usually, but I could certainly do without the defeatism. I lost tons of respect for Allah when he claimed that BHO was such a smart guy. For me, that was a big red flag.
progressoverpeace on November 3, 2008 at 3:52 PM
Classy salute Barak. Right back at you.
McCain-Palin 08.
SanitySpeaks on November 3, 2008 at 3:52 PM
So my first impression is… Did I just see him flip the bird? I say this because he went to his mouth initially with his index finger, then switched to his middle finger? I have never seen that. I used to point with my middle finger, but I broke the habit. That just seems weird. You either go with the middle all the time or you don’t. And doesn’t it seem coincidental that he did this same thing when referencing Hillary? Odd.
Theworldisnotenough on November 3, 2008 at 3:52 PM
I kinda like the idea of Allah as some kind of scurvy Pirate. Im sure though his eyepatch is over his left eye and not his right one.
Some have bashed Michelle for bashing McCain. I found its possible to be a republican and have problems with GOP leaders when they dont match up with you.
I certainly dont hope we ever get as thin skinned as the dailykos crowd

Our public schools are closed today. That explains the maturity and language of YRM.

Terryann isn’t the only one with that glitch… GoodLt on the “Were going to win this election” thread has the same thing.
Probably a glitch on the hot air server.
LegendHasIt on November 3, 2008 at 3:55 PM
In three different cities Obama gave his speech about Hillary and flipped the bird in the exact same place each time. This isn’t an accident. This guy is a poopyhead. I think he’s in a bad mood because his plan to bankrupt the coal industry is not sitting well.
justincase on November 3, 2008 at 3:57 PM
While I don’t see any evidence to suggest this was intentional, I have to disagree with you about whether or not he’s “stupid and reckless”, in the same way I’m tired of hearing what an “amazing campaign” he’s run. He’s been nothing but stupid and reckless, and he’s become a gaffmaster throughout. The only reason he’s even in this race is because the media decided that was how it was going to be, and as powerful as they are they still haven’t given him a very commanding lead. But come on, the radical associations, saying he wants to bankrupt coal, “clinging to guns and religion”, changing income ceiling for raising taxes constantly, changing plan on capital gains, “airraiding villages”, invade Pakistan, talk to enemies, waiting until Wright repeated his comments to throw him under the bus, the $1/month half brother, the illegal alien fugitive aunt living in public housing but donates hundreds to his campaign, race card playing, infanticide, gun positions, “we are the ones”, “the sea levels…”, I could go on and on…
This POS has not run a great campaign, he’s been carried by the media and a bunch of followers who’ve yet to explain why they support him. And I would wager that he is in fact “stupid and reckless”.
RightWinged on November 3, 2008 at 3:57 PM
Oh yeah goodie. allah got another post up about Peggy Noonan. Yeah positive Palin my as*.
unseen on November 3, 2008 at 3:58 PM
And Allah didn’t even take that story seriously. He ridiculed it when he posted a link to it.
Which is what Allah wrote as well.
Allah’s posted these things as well, especially the ratings. Were it not for him and this site I would have no idea that she gave SNL its highest ratings in 14 years.
That was reported here as well.
Yep, here as well.
Nor did Ed. Did he lose your respect as well?
Not even by Ed.
And Hot Air, including Allah, has covered that. They’ve covered every credible negative thing about Obama.
Hot Air has covered her huge rallies as opposed to Biden’s bombs, including Allah.
Yes, and the news that Fey thought Palin was nice, she even offered to have Bristol baby sit. That too was Allah.
Actually, it’s because I read Allah that I get most of that news. You’re upset but for what reason? He covered all but two of those issues, and the person you’re not upset with didn’t cover them either.
Esthier on November 3, 2008 at 4:02 PM
Who says she’s voting for McCain. How is that negative?
Esthier on November 3, 2008 at 4:02 PM
It wasn’t just Allah. Ed wrote one of those.

why am i upset.
exhibit A is the new post allah just put up about Peggy.
unseen on November 3, 2008 at 4:04 PM
But, Esthier, the question for people like me is, “Who cares who Noonan is voting for?” I don’t see how that is news that should interest any conservative.
progressoverpeace on November 3, 2008 at 4:06 PM
This is supposed to be a conversation about Obama’s “F*CK YOU” gesture to McCain.
Perhaps a new one could be started for the pro/con AP bickering, and not dilute this one?
pseudonominus on November 3, 2008 at 4:07 PM
And that’s all I was doing to you and unseen and all the other people expressing their disapproval of Allah.
