Video: Michelle on Obama, coal, and the media; Update: Palin quotes Michelle?
posted at 11:45 am on November 3, 2008 by Allahpundit
Red meat for breakfast garnished with two minutes on Ohio’s snooping on Joe the Plumber. Doocy wants to know why the Chronicle didn’t make a bigger deal of Obama’s coal comments in January. I want to know why McCain didn’t make a bigger deal of Obama’s coal comments in, say, July. The audio’s available on the paper’s website for any enterprising campaign oppo researcher to harvest, just as audio of The One’s comments on the Warren Court and wealth redistribution from 2001 was available on the Chicago public radio site (at least until recently). Maverick had the nomination locked up by mid-February; Obama was the clear frontrunner by the end of that month and would just as clearly be preoccupied with Hillary for a long while. What was the RNC’s research team doing between March and early June? Or have they had these clips the whole time and inexplicably decided to hold them for the final two weeks instead of using them to build a narrative early on about The One’s riskiness on energy and the economy? At the very least, they should have dropped them before the debates so that McCain could hammer them in front of a big audience.
I can understand why they held Wright until the bitter end: McCain obviously wasn’t comfortable hitting Obama on his associations, which explains why even Ayers didn’t end up in the mix until things turned desperate in October. What’s the excuse with stuff like the coal audio?
Update: I wonder where the ‘Cuda picked up the “truth serum” line…
But she recovered to offer a stinging attack on Obama’s double speak, suggesting the city of San Francisco has a truth-telling effect on the Democratic presidential candidate.
“There must be something about San Francisco,” she said. “I heard on Fox News today, it’s like a truth serum where when he’s there, he seems to be more candid.”

McCain supports a cap and trade system just like Obama does. Frankly, it’s a conservative idea as it’s based on the idea that companies will act in their economic best interest and factor pollution into their bottom line. If you believe the market works in increasing technological advancement, then you support this. What’s irritating is that people are blind to wanting McCain to win, they don’t mind pretending there is some difference between him and Obama on this issue. If Fox was fair and balanced, they’d point that out.

Too bad Michelle was never able to get past her distaste for John McCain and realize that her chatty little TV appearances (and her blog) will be in jeopardy if Osama Obama wins.
With all she has written about Obama, she never connected the dots.

Barack should’ve just avoided San Fran anyway. Every time he goes there, he sticks his foot in his mouth, because it’s one of the few places where his ACTUAL views aren’t seen as radical left-wing nutjob views.
I do wish the Republican research team had uncovered this a week ago, though. It seems like opposition research was sorely neglected this year. The Blogosphere shouldn’t be McCain’s only source for new info!
hawksruleva on November 3, 2008 at 11:56 AM
As usual the MSM ignores these statements, and the rest of the Obamatron lackeys do their best to deflect and excuse the vomit that comes out of the mouth of the One. The good news is that the country will be so screwed up at the end of the first term of the One, it will be a generation before the left can regain enough power to attempt another coup. The bad news is it will take a generation to undo the wreck that Obama will make of this country.

Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.

jp on November 3, 2008 at 12:05 PM
To: DeathToMediaHacks:
FOX actually DID point out some differences between Obama’s plan and McCain’s. McCain cap/trade plan includes some exclusions for certain industries (like agriculture), that Obama doesn’t. McCain would also exempt small businesses from cap/trade. Also, Palin has already indicated that she’d be spearheading a lot of the energy policy plans, so there’s likely to be some pro-energy production tweaking of the plan.

Anyone in western Pannsylvania or eastern Ohio who votes for this clown needs to have their head examined!
rockmom on November 3, 2008 at 12:06 PM
Because it’s media hackery to take one snippet of Obama’s long comments on clean coal and his explanation of the way a cap and trade system works, out of context and pretend that he wants to bankrupt the coal industry. The hacks over at CNN and MSNBC are absolutely idiots, but they’re not talking about this clip because their more liberal viewership would demand they show the whole clip. And when you listen to the whole audio he’s not proposing anything other than McCain’s exact coal policy. A cap and trade system.
DeathToMediaHacks on November 3, 2008 at 12:07 PM
Coal is nice, but violating election laws by disabling credit card security to make donations untraceable should get somebody jail time. This is not an act of Omission, but a deliberate act that should be traceable to a titular head. The person responsible should be required to explain their decision and indicted. There is no practical reason to solicit on line donations, but not require address verification. This is fraud and should be investigated. However, I won’t hold my breath.
If Team Obama’s goal is to undermine the public faith in the system, consider their mission accomplished. That the RNC doesn’t have the stomach or balls to challenge them on this means the RahmEmanuel/David Axelrod “by any means necessary” wing of the Democratic party has already won.
Ken Timmerman and Michelle you guys rock. Thanks for spreading the word. Long live alternate media.

Nice piece MM.
It is hard to believe that Obama might win Pennsylvania after his ‘redneck’ comments earlier in the year, and the bankrupt coal companies comments. . . and what about all the pro-life Catholics in Pa?
I’m beginning to think that what these guys say or do has nothing to do with who wins. It is fixed. Votes don’t really matter. We need a new type of democracy where voting is a privilege and not a right. The electoral college is fine, but how we determine who votes is not.

James on November 3, 2008 at 12:09 PM
But neither of those points have anything to do with the coal industry which is a “small business” nor is it part of agriculture. I’m not sure what Palin thinks about a cap and trade system, if someone has a link to her statement on the issue that’d be helpful. But as of my knowledge she’s never come out against a cap and trade system for coal, so it’s odd hearing her and Malkin talk this up as if it were not part of McCain’s agenda.
DeathToMediaHacks on November 3, 2008 at 12:09 PM
Credit the intelligence of the American people. The same ones who re-elected George Bush over John Kerry have had 18 months of Obama talking points to digest. I think that McCain/Palin will win tomorrow, which makes us all winners.
Especially Democrats, who have crabbed and screamed holy murder about Bush…while he has done all he can to provide them a safe America with a good strong economy for eight years. How many Liberals made millions of ‘bu by calling George Bush evil? That’s quite profitable hate. I’m sure they paid no attention to the cash register and were altruistic in their demonetization of a good man.
Doug on November 3, 2008 at 12:09 PM
Candidate McCain may be “for” cap-and-trade, but Obama’a argument will be thrown back into his face hard if a Pres. McCain tries to get such a stupid and counter-productive scheme passed—-especially if the coal states helped him get elected.

A Romney spokes person was on with Megyn Kelly this morning and was saying this coal story is not going to make a difference! He was like a wet blanket! I do think it will make a difference because the story goes beyond coal and directly to the fact Obama lies and will say anything to get votes. It is like Palin says he speaks one way in SF and another in PA or OH.
It also speaks to the raising of the costs of energy and connect that with his theory on changing consumers minds by having the government dictate how consumers purchase. It that blurb he says he will force those that he deems can pay higher electricity costs in order to make sure those that cannot afford higher electricity bills. This is about ideology and not just coal.

One thing about freedom is we can create our own heaven, and, unfortunately, our own hell. The left doesn’t seem to get this and believs that if they take more from the hard working and give to the slackers there will be parity. The US tried this with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mack, which was pushed, backed, protected and steamrolled by the Democrats, and while there was some good that came out of it the results are the financial mess we are in. The left has made political hay about the recent crisis by blaming Bush and Republicans, but, President Clinton recently chastised the Democratically controlled congress for blocking all attempts to correct it. Free enterprise does work when you keep Big Government from interfering with it. There are many financial experts in the US that say that if Obama wins we will face a world wide depression. The reason is that the Democrats don’t understand about business and believe that anyone that has a business is wealthy. They don’t understand that higher taxes equals less profits, equals job lay-offs and businesses moving to China, equals more and more people out of work that can’t afford the goods, equals a depression. Economics 101, apparently not taught in the Ivy League schools the elites send their children to.

“….take one snippet of Obama’s long comments on clean coal and his explanation of the way a cap and trade system works, out of context and pretend that he wants to bankrupt the coal industry.”
Pretend? PRETEND? Obama used that exact word. He obviously WANTS the consequences of his own policy to achieve a result, doesn’t he?
A Latin phrase applies here: “Ipse dixit” — he said so himself.
Here’s another snippet from the same conversation: He also says electricity rates “necessarily” will “skyrocket”.
Are we pretending when we report that?

Wow, jp. That HAS to be on purpose if it happened again. I used to scoff at the notion that Obama was using subliminal messages (and, to a degree, I still do), but the idea seems more and more plausible every time I see more evidence of it.
As for the topic, I have absolutely no idea what the hell McCain and the RNC were doing between February and June. If yo think about it, though; if these issues had surfaced before, Obama would have had plenty of time to make up a lie to explain them. And, if the comments did surface and cause Obama to lose the Democratic nomination, Hillary would probably have gone on to beat McCain, and we never would have found Sarah Palin.
Still, Hillary was more likely to have been a moderate and adhered to capitalism rather than the far-left Obama. Ah well, we’ll just have to see what tomorrow brings. I have prayed for a McCain/Palin victory, but that’s about as helpful as asking God to help the Miami Dolphins beat the New England Patriots. If McCain and Palin win tomorrow, it will be because of their strength, skill, and determination. God has no hand in politics, and I’m certain he frowns upon them.

What’s the next resource he’ll want to control access to after coal? Firewood? Imagine this scenario after he’s managed to nationalize the coal plants:
News release (no date, 2009):
“THE ONE” requires all homes to engage in the cap and trade system for their own good. NO MORE shirking your sworn duty to uphold the righteous system of sharing coal and all other resources and implemented by THE ONE by using firewood! It releases more filthy smoke into the air, plus it is not fair for those who don’t have access to fireplaces. YOU MUST now inventory all your current wood; it will be approved or disproved by the Dept. of Shared Natural Resources, and up to half will be
pilferedshared with your neighborhood. If this is not accepted by the homeowner, the entire inventory of wood will beconfiscatedremoved to a safe location pending appeal by the homeowner. If your wood is deemed to be too green, or otherwise unsatisfactory, or is given too low a rating for other reasons deemed appropriate by the Dept., it will be removed to a safe location and properly disposed of.-END PRESS RELEASE-
Release to all outlets ASAP
Although I don’t live in an area where coal is used a lot, I sympathize with those who do; much like some of my neighbors totally rely on wood burning stoves and fireplaces for heat, cooking, and warmth, and use wood to combat the rising cost of electricity, many places use coal in the same manner. What the “Obamaman” said was shameful. Where was this a month ago?
Thanks for the video; red meat indeed! Go Michelle!

In 1959, we cubans wanted “change” and we got a 50 year old communist dictatorship. If the the racist communist Obama wins, the US will get the same “change”. We cubasn can smell a communist rat, belive us.

Just remember… through the recorded history of the U.S. of A. and Major League Baseball, prior to 2008 the Philadelphia Phillies won their only World Series title in a presidential election year… in which Ronaldus Magnus emerged victorious. The Phillies have won their second World Series title. In a presidential election year. Lightning can strike twice.
Keep faith.

I think it’s very clear that the GOP in general and the McCain campaign in particular underestimated just how vile and irresponsible the media was going to be in this election cycle.
The lesson is clear for the next time – identify the key opposition candidates and as early as possible begin researching, analyzing, dissecting every word they’ve ever written or spoken, that’s ever been written or spoken about them, or written or spoken on their behalf.

One of the common threads about Malkin and Palin is they have more “stones” then both the other guys on the Democratic ticket. These two ladies are but a small representation of what our country is made of both male and female.People, a reason why no Islamic country will ever be a world power is simply because half of their population is not allowed to be educated.

Obama is a red diaper baby. I don’t see his (communist) mother letting that one slip in.
That leaves me with an interesting question: how many childrens’ stories can be divided into pro-capitalist and pro-communist?
