Video: Michelle oddly skeptical of Obama’s newfound appreciation for immigration law

posted at 7:45 pm on November 3, 2008 by Allahpundit

Cynic that she is, she can’t quite accept that a guy who supports amnestizing illegals by the millions means it when he says, “I’m a strong believer that you obey the law.” A question via e-mail from our old pal See-Dubya: Does this mean Geraldo wants to spit on Obama now, too?

McCain also takes a few well deserved jabs. Looks like the boss forgot to leave her principles at home on election eve.

OT, but…

The Personnel Board seems to have cleared Sarah Palin.

CNN reported it, and quickly buried. Standard operating procedure.

KingGold on November 3, 2008 at 7:53 PM

That sounds odd and a bit cold coming from Obama. He would deport his aunt who he, apparently, had fond memories of in his book without hesitation? His willing to just throw her under the bus, yet, grant Mexican illegals the path to citizenship without question?

Now, I could care less if Mexicans are legal or not (my only two cares are capitalism and national security), but as usual, Obama seems to have flipped-flopped again to justify himself and gain credibility. Wonder what his supporters will do when they find out he can’t appeal to them all?

First off, illegal immigrants are no different than shop lifters or tax evaders. They break our laws for their personal financial gain. More importantly, the immigration issue is a keystone issue because of the far reaching ramifications. Millions upon millions of low skilled and unskilled workers have put downward pressure on wage growth for tens of millions of Americans. This dramatically increases the demand for leftist programs and candidates.

When you hear Dems make the argument that the gap between rich and poor is growing, remember that illegal immigration is a big part of that equation.

The simple fact that we have a large number of people here illegally from wherever is a national security issue. It means our borders are not secure. So if you accept that, then illegal immigrants are one of your two issues.

Oldnuke on November 3, 2008 at 8:08 PM

Polls continue to show that illegal immigration is frowned on by up to 80% of the American public. When they tried to railroad through the Shamnesty bill under the guise of Comprehensive Immigration Reform, only millions of faxes and e-mails and phone calls from the American people forced them to table it. But it looks like whoever we elect will try to get passed again. Get ready for the fight!
We’re with you Michelle! Thanks for standing up for what’s right!

The Aunt, I wonder if she VOTED for him, will probably become the new head of ACORN.

Mojave Mark on November 3, 2008 at 8:10 PM

He wrote THIS about her in “Dreams of my Father” :

“If Jane or Zeituni ever felt ill, if their companies ever closed or laid them off, there was no government safety net. There was only family, next of kin, people burdened by similar hardship. Now I was family, I reminded myself. Now I had responsibilities.”

And yet, she lives here illegally, and on welfare. You would think that a Senator who wants to be President Could and would help her, especially after saying that he had responsibilities to her just a few years ago.

And he says that he has been “unable to contact her” in the clip above. If a newspaper from Britain was able to find her walking down the street and ask to speak to her, but HE can’t contact her with his nearly unlimited resources (He was able to find out all about Joe The Plumber’s private life), it doesn’t speak well about his claimed ability to solve all the worlds problems by the force of his will.

He can’t contact his “dearest Aunti Zeituni” at her home in Boston, despite her address being published in major newspapers… But he will “find Osama Bin Laden”…..

And his supporters gobble up BOTH statements as gospel, without the slightest sense of irony.

Oh, I know…. He left his address book in his OTHER Armani suit, and Michelle0 sent it to the cleaners. And of course his Secret Service detail is unable to use their ability to access ANY public (and private) records. AND his dog ate his homework the Christmas card list.

LegendHasIt on November 3, 2008 at 8:13 PM

How did Auntie get into public housing in Boston when the waiting list is over 100K long and 3rd+ generation Bostonians have to wait years and years? How did she get into the Southie projects, which, for all their problems especially in recent years, is still probably the safets inner-city area in Boston?

Why did they move Auntie from the Old Colony projects (partially Federally funded) to the D-Street projects (fully state funded)? Did the move have to do with shielding her and her immigration status from discovery?

How did an illegal alien with no social security number get a little side job with the Boston Housing Authority? How did she report those wages? Where is her other money coming from?

Who told Auntie not to talk to anybody until after Nov 4th?

This whole thing stinks to high heaven. I know how Boston works. It would be a miracle for all these things to happen without major strings being pulled. Trust me….

TheBigOldDog on November 3, 2008 at 8:14 PM

His response IS cold. But no more cold than his lack of concern for other indigent relatives. Or his willingness to betray his good friend and mentor, Alice Palmer, to get his first senate seat. And let’s not forget the story he tells of his poor mother, fighting insurance companies from her hospital bed (while he and his lawyer wife were presumably too preoccupied to lend a hand).

But don’t blame him. He acts this way because his crazy upbringing left him emotionally stunted.

First post here on Hot Air since you opened the registration today, and can I say Michelle, YOU ROCK

My mom came over from Ireland in the early 50′s she had to have at least 2 US Citizens to vouch for her and provide her a place to stay and support her until she found a job, a complete physical and bring the Xrays with her, provide a letter from the local police station in Ireland stating that she was not a criminal.
It really annoys here to see people coming into the United States and leech of the system.

I do not believe we should provide amnesty to someone who wants to break our laws to get into this country.

Obama’s family is really making the news on the eve of the election. First he throws his illegal aunt under the bus to show his commitment to immigration enforcement, and now his grandmother passes away. What do both of those people popping into the news have in common?

They are both engineered to generate sympathy for the candidate from the all important independent voter. Which makes it hard to believe they happened when they did, completely spontaneously.

I seriously doubt that Obama’s grandmother dying on the eve of the election was engineered. There’s a word for that and it’s not nice. If you mean that the press is using it for a sympathy play, well could be. I prefer to believe that a human being just took the inevitable final step on their journey through a long fruitful life. I hope that it was reported simply because she was associated with a national figure with no ulterior motives no conspiracy theories. Just an elderly lady passing nothing more, nothing less.

Our Southern border and amnesty are a real security problem. Druggies are taking over Mexico. The only, for now, good point is that many illegals are returning; can’t find even subsistence jobs. Mex law and government are under assault as bad as Iraq 05. Car bombs are next but doubt suicide bombers. A more unstable Mexico absolutely requires a secure border – or invasion.
Neither Castro or Chavez nor Russia can interfere but al Qida can. Not so much but just more nastiness. One year for not so simple repair but doable. More requires invasion. Or legal US drugs.
Good work Michelle. Thanks.

What Part of ILLEGAL Imigration do people not understand Is it the word illegal or immigration. These people are criminals and should be treated as such. It is equally criminal that our government is doing nothing about it and people are willing to overlook it. It is a FELONY to cross the border without proper documentation and those that do should be removed from this country .(By Force if thats what it takes)

Hilbilly on November 3, 2008 at 9:07 PM

There won’t be any deportations.

Michelle,

I am a newb but long time lurker on this site.

Just want to say, thank you so much for your honesty and condor about your position on the illegal immigrant issue.

My personal feeling is that a huge national security issue is being swept under the rug. I have no axe to grind here, I am not involved, except by economic perifery, with immigrant labor per se.

Whatever the outcome tomorrow, my perception is that we are obviously a highly polarized nation.

By failing to discuss issues such as immigration that have a true social, economic, and security effect on our nation, both parties do a diservice to the people.

Additional issues such as the expansion of the fiat monetary system with subsequent economic ramifications and debate about what level of taxation can keep the masses placated without armed revolt would also be appropriate.

Zorro on November 3, 2008 at 10:34 PM

As I stated, Aunti Zeituni had political protection, at least the Obama campaign and Obamessiah knew she was here an illegal as well. So, clearly, the Obamessiah is lying about knowing she was here and in welfare housing, along with food stamps and other aid. So, how did she get here. Other news outlets are claiming that she traveled here often since 1975. Unlikely, as dirt poor Kenyans have little chance of getting a visa. The law requires that an applicant for a non-immigrant visa prove that they have an unrelinqueshed residence abroad that they will return to after their stay in the U.S. Clearly, she did not. Interestingly, her asylum claim is that she feared the violence in Kenya, but her tribe, the Luo, and the leader of the Luo, Raila Odinga, Obamessiah’s close friend and an ally of radical Islam, advocating sharia law for Muslims and the submission of Christians to sharia law when in conflict with Muslims. Odinga also helped burn down Chrisitan churches. It is very common now to use general violence as a claim for political asylum. It actually started with Philippinos who claimed that they were victims of the New People’s Army, NPA. I remember some cases with Phillippinos who claimed fear of the NPA, but as soon as they got their green cards, started traveling back to the PI. So, in reality, their claim of fear of violence, though there was violence, was just an rational for asylum. It then went to Salvadorans, who previously denied asylum based on political beliefs, then claimed the violence was the basis for asylum, as if a crime victim was a “social group” that asylum law provided for. Now “social group” under asylum law actually had a meaning when it was written: it meant bouroisie fleeing a communist dictatorship. Communists executed the bourgoisie, but now any crime victim or potential victim was an asylum applicant. But now MS-13 gangbangers claim fear of violence as the reason for their polical asylum cases. So, not only did Aunti use a fraudulent basis for claiming asylum, but she got a job and an apartment with someone’s help in Boston. Deval Patrick? Or some other Democrat in the Boston machine? Got to be. Just as some Demoncrat opperative in the State Deparmtment gave Aunti a visa that she was obviously not qualified for. No home, no job, no ties to Kenya and a rich, powerful relative in the States.

“I haven’t been able to get intouch with her?” What a lie.

federale86 on November 3, 2008 at 10:49 PM

Looks like the boss forgot to leave her principles at home on election eve.

You mean she forgot there’s a greater battle to be won right now.

Meanwhile, “Uncle” has fallen into a hole. No one is able to find him.

That sounds odd and a bit cold coming from Obama. He would deport his aunt who he, apparently, had fond memories of in his book without hesitation? His willing to just throw her under the bus, yet, grant Mexican illegals the path to citizenship without question?

Obama would deport his wife and kids if it would ensure him the presidency. Don’t believe anything that comes out of this guys mouth.

Obama has been well scripted for our enjoyment and entertainment pleasure. Can we now proceed with the Coronation?

Obama: the law and order candidate? Funny, he doesn’t seem all that interested in enforcing laws against ACORN’s voter fraud. How about digging up dirt on a private citizen for no good reason? Haven’t heard any comments from him about that. What about finance laws? Will he be turning himself in for accepting illegal donations? Holding my breath…

jakabok_botch on November 4, 2008 at 1:26 AM

Since Obama has voiced such a high regard for the law perhaps he should introduce himself to folks a the EOIR, of course he’s more likely to use his authority like so many other sellout politicians have instead.

Speakup on November 4, 2008 at 1:33 AM

Obama believes in obeying the law? Since when?

This guy is one cold fish.

Obama is one CREEEEPY person.

Sorry to be a stickler, but Michelle is a skeptic, not a cynic.

blish on November 4, 2008 at 8:23 AM

Isn’t it fascinating how many poor relatives Mr. Obama has? Those millions of dollars don’t seem to go towards them at all… (E.g. His abjectly poor brother in Kenya.)

Vote M/P!

Michelle is obsessed with immigration. Geez, get some new material

Yes,

Thanks to this loose-cannon, and her ilk, and their vitriol, Conservative/Republicans will most likely lose at least 3 states.

Her screech and howl, is going to sound awfully hollow after the election.

franksalterego on November 4, 2008 at 9:12 AM

I didn’t hear any “screech and howl” must be a liberal socialist sensitivity that Legal Americans don’t experience
