An obligatory pep talk for the 16-hour holding pattern we momentarily find ourselves in.
“We got a real good shot at catching the guy,” says Mark Salter.

As Coach Marty Schottenheimer would say, “there’s a gleam, men, there’s a gleam.”
Mac and Cindy (and Sarah and Todd) have that winning gleam today…
Nat Hound on November 3, 2008 at 3:07 PM
Clearly, Mark Salter is a racist, and is further implying that Obama is in mortal peril of being killed by a Reich Wing nutjob.

Isn’t that a tacit admission that they are really behind and it doesn’t look good?
A Axe on November 3, 2008 at 3:07 PM
“He’s even more liberal than a guy from Vermont who used to call himself a socialist.”
I guess Mac’s come a long way from that interview where the guy asks McCain if he thought Obama was a socialist, and he said he didn’t know. That was way before the “spread the wealth” stuff came out.

I believe the polls are wrong, but it’s hard to believe they’re so far slanted as the media is claiming.
We need McCain and Palin so badly. Remember God is in control and with him nothing is impossible.

The media wing of the democratic party has painted this alleged “economic crisis” for the sheeple to feed on, worry about and wring their hands. In steps Barry with his socialist agenda (not to mention shady background and associates) to “fix” everything. Really. I can’t believe people are falling for this. I refuse to believe it. Let’s put the socialist in charge of the economy! I mean, how bad can someone hate George W. Bush to actually vote for this lightweight? Oh by the way, my credit is considered “good” and I just got approved for two loans totalling over $6500.00. I can’t wait to vote for McCain tomorrow morning.

One thing about freedom is we can create our own heaven, and, unfortunately, our own hell. The left doesn’t seem to get this and believes that if they take more from the hard working and give to the slackers there will be parity. The US tried this with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mack, which was pushed, backed, protected and steamrolled by the Democrats, and while there was some good that came out of it the results are the financial mess we are in. The left has made political hay about the recent crisis by blaming Bush and Republicans, but, President Clinton recently chastised the Democratically controlled congress for blocking all attempts to correct it. Free enterprise does work when you keep Big Government from interfering with it. There are many financial experts in the US that say that if Obama wins we will face a world wide depression. The reason is that the Democrats don’t understand about business and believe that anyone that has a business is wealthy. They don’t understand that higher taxes equals less profits, equals job lay-offs and businesses moving to China, equals more and more people out of work that can’t afford the goods, equals a depression. Economics 101, apparently not taught in the Ivy League schools the elites send their children to.

Salter is notoriously grumpy and apparently pessimistic. He sounds like the Allahpundit of the GOP strategists. Him smiling and saying we’ve got a good shot of catching him is a good sign.
No, an MSNBC comment would be calling it useless. It is obligatory. With less than a day before the vote, candidates make sure they fire up their base to get out the vote.
amerpundit on November 3, 2008 at 3:29 PM
Always notice how Allah denigrates any potential good news with the “obligatory” label. “Obligatory” is code from Allah to say you are silly if you find this encouraging. He intentionally undermines good news because he doesn’t want to give us any. Sad.
Maxx on November 3, 2008 at 3:31 PM
Hate to play the devil’s advocate – but come on. The only time you ever hear that is in sports when a heavily favorited team plays a not-very-favorite team. And yeah you occasionally get the miracles (eg Giants vs Pats), but almost every single time its an absolute brutal crushing (Celtics vs Lakers, Spurs vs Cavs, Red Wings vs Penguins, etc).
That guy is basically throwing up the white flag and saying “Please God!”
A Axe on November 3, 2008 at 3:31 PM

True, but God has also been known to punish people for bad behavior. If things like abortion is really the moral crime many think it is, there would be every reason to believe that God would justly punish this nation with a bad president.
As for me, I can’t say either way about that. Because if McCain wins, I will be the most smug, “in your face” winner that has ever been. And I won’t apologize for it either.

The best part is watching Cindy McCain trying to remember when to shake her head and when to nod her head and to pretend to not be thinking of the hot looking guy in the front row.
A pep talk like that makes us republicans wistfully remember the good old days of the warmth and sincerity of Richard M Nixon.

Cut it out with the negativity please :) I think we’re going to win. The only wildcard in my mind is ACORN’s effect on the election.
The polls are ridiculous. I used to work for a surveying company and I am pretty sure that if we had 85% of respondents say they refuse to answer, we would have to tell our client these may not be mathematically accurate. Think about it — how many Obama fans do you know that wouldn’t say they’re voting for O. From all that I know, they are very vocal about their support.

joepub on November 3, 2008 at 3:35 PM
A McCain win would be wonderful for so many reasons. The nut job media (specifically FOX) has just published a poll giving Obama a 7-point advantage nationally. At the same time they have published a poll of the battleground states showing McCain and Obama in a statistical dead heat. The greatest deviation in the battleground states is Colorado with Obama having a 4-point lead that is 3 points less than that shown in the national poll. This means that the additional 3 point Obama national advantage must be accounted for in states outside the battleground states . . . what are they and why haven’t they been receiving media attention? I sincerely believe these polls are putrid mathematical garbage and are effectively suppressing the McCain vote.

Try this on for size baby:(From ‘Our Country Deserves Better.’
“Fantastic News! The brand new Fox News/Rasmussen battleground poll shows Sen. John McCain has surged ahead to tie or lead in key battleground states where Sen. Obama had held a lead just a few days ago.
The undecided voters are breaking for McCain and the McCain/Palin campaign clearly has the momentum to win this race!!
McCain now leads Florida (50%-49%) and North Carolina (50%-49%) is tied with Obama in Missouri (49%-49%( and Ohio (49%-49%). And in two other states McCain is within the statistical margin of error to be tied with Obama: Colorado (51%-47%) and Virginia (51%-47%).
We have a little more than 5 hours left to place one final TV advertising buy to defeat Obama. Let’s give this campaign everything we have and win this election. This is our final appeal for contributions to put into our TV ad campaign before voters go to the polls. You can contribute anywhere from $5 to $5,000 online – HERE.”
