Carl Cameron: Optimism growing inside McCain camp

posted at 9:18 pm on November 3, 2008 by Allahpundit
Share on Facebook | regular view

It won’t be easy but it is do-able. What’s got Maverick, Salter, and other senior aides suddenly so bubbly? Their internal polls, in all likelihood. Lead pollster Bill McInturff pronounced the race too close to call in a memo sent out late last week that claimed things were trending their way in the battlegrounds. They must have gotten more good news over the weekend. Someone had better tell Joe the Plumber because he’s sounding even more pessimistic than I am.

Stats wizard Nate Silver puts their odds at 1.9%. Click the image to watch.

The money quote:

“I’m just so proud to be Sarah’s father. Years ago I taught her to field dress a moose. Tomorrow I want you to see her field dress a donkey!”

Bill O thinks is show is hot stuff look what he is up against. That retart on Msnbc and nothing on Cnn.Fox could run a picture of Rush for the whole hour and beat those stations. What is still strange to me is why Laura Ingraham keeps going on his show. The only thing that Bill O had done in the last few years that amounts to anything is pay off the women he talked dirty to on the phone.

This reminded me of something off-topic. Back in the 80s my father worked in the petroleum industry in countries all over the world. While working in one African country, I can’t remember which one, he read an announcement in the official english language newspaper of the government. People in this country drove on the left side of the road, and they were going to switch over to drive on the right hand side. The announcement said that all commercial vehicles were to switch on Sunday and all cars were to switch on Monday.

Obama: “We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”A civilian force as strong as the military? Your kidding, right? Um it’s Obama, so he probably isn’t kidding. Who would this force report to? The Messiah himself? What would be their mission? This is truly frightening. The Germans used to have a police force like that:The gestapo (help·info) (contraction of geheime Staatspolizei: “Secret State Police”)

I must respectfully disagree with the NAZI, GESTAPO analogy. Instead, you should look to the East German STASI which hearkens back to Micah 7:6; “Do not trust in a friend do not put your confidence in a compaion; Guard the doors of your mouth From her who lies in your bosom. For son dishonors father, Daughter rises against her mother, … A man’s enemies are the men of his own household.”
This is the scariest aspect of a civilian defense corpse. Scarier those that are not in uniform that are unseen and that turn on their own for the sake of order.

That still works with the NAZI analogy. Don’t forget Hitler was a socialist, and the Hitler Youth was one of his “great” strategies. They were indoctrinated in the schools, reported family and friends for any dissent. When the fight hit home (when we were hosing their backsides), they sent the kids to public boarding school for the kids’ “protection”. Once away from any outside influence, the Nazis were able to really radicalize the children.

Think Bill Ayres much?

Manly dear, thanks for the welcome, but I’ve been here for quite some time, I just post very rarely. I love your posts, and admire your optimism and singleness of purpose.

I’m one of those who was going to sit out this election, (eeyore that I am) I just knew McCain would NEVER pick Sarah Palin. Now with the perfect VP pick, and encouragement from internet cohorts*ahem* I’m actually JAZZED for this election.

If you think Hitler’s gestapo was disturbing, look at the Stasi of Adenauer and the Comintern. There is no comparison. Perhaps the mild nature of the Gestapo is due in part to their duration. Years of reporting the unueberzeugt has left tears in the fabric of East German psyche that are easy to see. The citizens of east and west are amazingly different.
However, yes, the net result is the same as an Ayers philosophy, in which is preached the death of the nuclear family.

I live on the “Left Coast” a very lonely place for conservatives. But I try to work on my friends back east.

chacker on November 4, 2008 at 1:13 AM

Rush Limbaugh says it will be a ‘turnout’ election. I believe him. The Republicans will turn out in force; they are too enamored of Sarah and too scared of Obama not to.

Those Obama freaks are going down – unseen on November 4, 2008 at 1:11 AM

Absolutely. Make sure of it tomorrow.

ManlyRash on November 4, 2008 at 1:15 AM

I saw Cindy McCain on Larry King tonight. She looked very composed and confident as well.

Out here in California a lot of conservatives are voting Libertarian. They are very upset at Republicans

chacker on November 4, 2008 at 1:17 AM

ManlyRash;

I appreciate your election vigil. You’re doing a great job.

Keep up the good work!

Saltysam on November 4, 2008 at 1:19 AM

Because if God wants Obama I’m going to feel very conflicted.

Maybe I’ll pray for the Palin kids. :)

CambellBrown on November 4, 2008 at 1:07 AM

Ah, but here in lies an issue I have with many of my fellow Christians, who always talk about “God’s plan”, etc. You need to remember that we have free will and live in a sinful world since the fall of man.

I don’t doubt that in the long run, God’s will will be done… But in the interim, we (humans) decide how things go. We could be in for rough times for generations, but that doesn’t mean God decided this for us (IMO). So please, don’t be conflicted on God’s will if Barry wins. Do we believe he decided Clinton should win? Or a House and Senate controlled by people who applaud the holocaust of millions of innocent unborn children every year? Remember that a lot of terrible things are written in Revelation, but I don’t think we could say God willed those things. He’ll finish things, but we control our own destinies right now.

Just my opinion, FWIW, on the whole “what does it mean if Barry wins”. Means nothing more than war or massive natural disasters.

That said, pray that he does NOT win. That will spell the beginning of the end of this country, mark my words. I don’t see us coming back from a BHO presidency. This is a “do or die” sort of moment.

RightWinged on November 4, 2008 at 1:21 AM

The money quote:

“I’m just so proud to be Sarah’s father. Years ago I taught her to field dress a moose. Tomorrow I want you to see her field dress a donkey!”

bdestini on November 3, 2008 at 11:44 PM

He said it tonight in Reno, too. It was priceless.

What a great headline that will be:

Palin Field Dresses Donkey

Above the fold.

After months of lurking I’ve come aboard, thanks to the new registration period. I want to second ManlyRash’s optimism – I believe that Mac’s going to pull this one out. Vote, pray, do the work and we’ll win this thing.

I hope to see Matthews and Olbermann end up like the guys in this clip at the 3:35 mark.

I see things the same way.
Yes pray that he does not win

I wonder if Sarah’s father knows something we don’t know.

technopeasant on November 4, 2008 at 1:26 AM

I know a lot of people who are voting for BHO that think that he will not do any of these crazy things that he talks about. They are just in denial

chacker on November 4, 2008 at 1:27 AM

Just like Germany 1933.

technopeasant on November 4, 2008 at 1:29 AM

Field dress an ass (double entendre intended) is more like it…The Palin family has conducted themselves very well since being thrust onto the national scene just a few short weeks ago.
