Breaking: Palin exonerated by Personnel Board

Sarah Palin did nothing wrong in firing Walt Monegan, the Alaskan State Personnel Board has concluded. Their independent investigator criticized the legislature’s investigator for applying the wrong law. They also said that Todd Palin did nothing wrong in pressing for action against the governor’s former brother-in-law:
A new report just released — hours before the polls open on Election Day — exonerates Gov. Sarah Palin in the Troopergate controversy.
The state Personnel Board-sanctioned investigation is the second into whether Palin violated state ethics law in firing her public safety commissioner, and it contradicts the earlier findings by a special counsel hired by the state Legislature.
Both investigations found that Palin was within her rights to fire Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan.
But the new report says the Legislature’s investigator was wrong to conclude that Palin abused her power by allowing aides and her husband, Todd, to pressure Monegan and others to dismiss her ex-brother-in-law, Trooper Mike Wooten. Palin was accused of firing Monegan after Wooten stayed on the job.
It’s probably too late to address the political damage done by the partisan hack job from the legislature, but at least it will correct the record. The Personnel Board must have concluded that mind-reading isn’t its job or the legislature’s, and that a governor can terminate a political appointee for whatever reason. This has been the truth all along, but some in Alaska — and around the country — conveniently forgot it for just enough time to smear Palin.
Monegan won’t get a hearing from the Personnel Board to “clear his reputation”. Where does Palin go to clear hers after this tempest in a teapot?

The future looks bleak for 99% of the citizens of this country.
Depending on who wins tomorrow the future will be either a little bit bleak for them, or VERY bleak for them.

Yo Newbie,
I am an Alaskan (read my name and freaking figure it out) as well as a conservative.
Calling me a liberal is about as assinine as you trying to prove you are “educated” and the fact you obviously haven’t read the comments EVER, suggests that you really have no clue about what you are talking about.
Do you want to make a conplete ASS of yourself or just keep rambling like an idiot?
upinak on November 3, 2008 at 8:55 PM
I predict that you’re going to be good here, if you last. Hang in there…Now as far as easing up on Fox…NO! If you disagree let them know how else will they understand that the landscape is changing. We no longer accept what they say at face value. No one is really bashing, just registering some discontent. You will regularly see Shepard Smith ripped, and in the same post you’ll see Megyn Kelly idolized. Not just for looks either, but because she takes no prisoners and scorches those who would obfuscate and evade.

Mommypundit on November 3, 2008 at 8:58 PM
Geeze, this is getting ridiculous. I got a verbal warning last week when I sped through an intersection that went red with me halfway through. I don’t remember there being a newspaper article on that.
LegendHasIt on November 3, 2008 at 8:59 PM
It’s nice to see Sarah vindicated, but I don’t think it will change any minds tomorrow. Those of us who support her already knew she hadn’t done anything wrong. Those who don’t will just dredge up some other bogus argument to sustain their irrational hatred.

Wow. Spirits are high in AK I see. I’ve been registered with Hot Air for over a year, but don’t comment much. I recognize you as an older poster and honestly don’t understand what you’re talking about. Read what I said. I am talking about “the left” as in “people that are liberal” as in “not people that spend their lives commenting on conservative blogs.” Is there something about what I said that you want to attack or is ad hominem your game?
blankminde on November 3, 2008 at 9:01 PM
Astroturf elsewhere.
lansing quaker on November 3, 2008 at 8:50 PM
Newb are you deluded or what? If you’re a palin supporter I said you wouldn’t care. Astroturfer? been here a lot longer than an FNG like you.
Oldnuke on November 3, 2008 at 9:04 PM
I see what you mean. If we let them go too far left, there won’t be much a chance of them coming back. As for Shepherd Smith, I believe he’s decent, but he kinda pissed me off the other day when he interviewed Joe the Plumber and defended Obama’s “support” of Israel. It may sound like another “Obama is an Islamic terrorist” accusation, but Allah had put across a good point when he posted it; Israel would die because Obama would let Iran destroy it with his God-awful foreign policy.

Yep. I still remember how stoked I was to be able to register the last time registration was open, too. ;)
lansing quaker on November 3, 2008 at 9:09 PM
:-) No problem. I figured it was hoping it was something like that since your reply didn’t make any sense to my post. This thread is moving so fast I can’t keep up anyway. It’s got legs, and my fingers are getting tired.
Oldnuke on November 3, 2008 at 9:11 PM
Wow. Astroturfing…awesome. I’m a conservative, a Republican, and a damn Marine. Intellectual honesty regarding what you could have done better in retrospect is NOT sabotage and it certainly isn’t astroturfing…or Axelturfing if you prefer. I love Sarah Palin too for goodness sakes, but I’m not a blind servant that fails to see where we could have done a better job blunting the character attacks against her. Don’t attack your own.
blankminde on November 3, 2008 at 9:11 PM
Yeah, I know. I was so excited I was able to register today. I’ve read a lot of y’alls comments hoping to get a morale boost, but I can finally talk to y’all and get it myself. Pleased to meet ya.

Precisely, but even Shep, although biased, is not “In the Tank” for the liberal left. He has opinions and he’s entertaining. See even you’re doing it. Keep it up, agree or disagree you’re exercising free speech.
Oldnuke on November 3, 2008 at 9:15 PM
Alright, alright; calm down-relax. You are right to point out the mistakes that were made in presenting Plain, but unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about it now. It is best not to dwell on the past; you will only find yourself feeling worse about this election. We will see what tomorrow brings.
Achilles on November 3, 2008 at 9:15 PM
Sarah is our star !! We all knew that the report would be in her favor. I had the privilege of attending 2 of her rallys. There is an undenyable connection between her and those who turned out to see her. Makes me sick that the talking heads took cheap shots at our rising star. Compare her treatment to that of Joe “the ghost” Biden. The guy’s got 30 years of foot and mouth disease and gets a free pass.In addition to my Palin/McCain sign , I also fly with pride the Flag of the Great State of Alaska!

I too, like blankminde have been registered here for over a year and don’t comment much. I don’t see where he has said anything that warrants the attacks. I guess I’d better duck and expect the same thing from you. I am unwavering in my support for McCain/Palin but I feel that mistakes have been made in this campaign … lets learn from them. I also believe that McCain/Palin will win this election.

Oh no; I’m not saying Shepherd Smith’s “in the tank.” I misread your comment when you said Shepherd gets ripped regularly and Megyn Kelly gets idolized. I guess I was just trying to agree with you because I thought you were criticizing Shepherd Smith (that’s why I said he was decent because it allows me to praise him and criticize him at the same time). Believe me, I want the news to be fair and balanced; I don’t agree with liberals, but I don’t want them shunned or discriminated against like they’ve done to us over the past couple years.

We have been joined this “MORNING IN AMERICA” by PUMA’s, Reagan Democrates, RHINO’s, Conservatives, peoples of all faiths, of all social backgrounds, of ALL races, arm in arm, shoulder to shoulder, clinging to our God, our Guns, our Flag, our Constitution!
We are looking up at a huge mountain, with a fortress of the far left radicals inside awaiting our attack. The Socilialists, protected all the way up the hill by the MSM, and with Pundits blocking our paths, the task is daunting and will require all of the effort a human can muster!
But we are bolstered by our faith, comforted by that still small voice inside… Fortified by the knowledge that from our efforts here today our children and thiers will grow up in a FREE, PROUD, STRONG AMERICA… The America of our Founders, of our Grandfathers and Fathers, of our FALLEN HEROS who gave it all for our RIGHT TO FIGHT TODAY!
Drawing comfort from our friends, family, church and our mission we march onward, “RUSH”ing up the hill, tossing aside all the Pundits, embarrasing the MSM, confronting the radicals and leaving them wondering what hit them…

These last minute surprises portent one thing…..
Both campaigns realize the undecideds are VERY squishy on who they are going to vote for and the right message in the last minutes before they vote may make the difference.
Considering the media bias against McCain and Obama hasn’t sealed the deal, this is the indication that McCain WILL get the undecided vote and WILL win this election.

You better believe I’m serious. You sick evil people hammered Governor Huckabee all through the Republican primaries saying he was a liberal and all sorts of vile stuff (Socialist, worse than Hillary, would destroy the Republican Party!). You really could burn in hell for that. Not because it’s Mike Huckabee. It could be anybody. It’s because these are bold faced lies and the Bible says, “All liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone” (Revelation 21:8). Whether you agree with Huckabee’s policies or not is not the issue here. Disagree with him all you want. It’s condemning a decent man that’s wrong. Deliberately lying about him that’s wrong. No thief, no adulterer, no liar, no fornicator, no blasphemer, will inheret God’s kingdom. So yes, people could go to hell for this unless they repent, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23). Now that’s the truth whether you believe it or not.

This is turning out like I predicted before McCain picked Sarah.
I kept telling people, if McCain picks anybody other than Sarah, he will lose handily because the base will not put out. I said that McCain MUST pick a gamechanger and take a risk. He did with Sarah despite the observation that normally you don’t bring someone up like that that early in their career. Sarah was an exception due to her accomplishments and the way to fit McCain’s needs perfectly.
Ultimately, tonight we may have a shot at the upset due to Sarah being the Veep.
I’m glad that McCain didn’t just pull a total Bob Dole. At least he took a few risks in an environment where playing it all safe would have ensured a loss.
Let’s pray that get PA, and if not, we hold OH, FL, CO, VA.
Nobody knows how this will turn out due to the flawed polling, cheating, lack of vetting Obama, fear of Obama.
I finished up working in FL in Lakeland today and what is driving increased grassroots of the Republican Party this election compared to Bush is Sarah and total fear of Obama with Reid and Pelosi. Great chance FL stays GOP this time around.

I was raised by “Greatest Generation” parents who loved God, worked hard, and taught me right from wrong. I do not need these arrogant people to tell me how to be an American. You are a bold-faced liar! Mike Huckabee wants to abolish the IRS and institute the Fair Tax. Failing that, he wants to cut taxes and cut spending. He took the no new tax pledge. He wants to stay on offense on the war on terror. He is committed to eliminating Irans nuclear weapons. He wants to protect the sanctity of unborn life. He wants to protect traditional marriage. He has introduced a plan to secure the border without amnesty. He opposes a Government controlled universal health care system. Which of those are so bad?
Mike is a true conservative. A genuine 100% pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, Christian conservative! You’re not olny a liar, but a rampant liar and “He that speaketh lies shall not escape.” Proverbs 19:5
