Video: Palin hammers Obama on coal

A bullet pass aimed at the end zone in Pennsylvania and Ohio as the final few seconds tick away. Maverick threw his own long ball earlier today in Scranton:
“My friends, you know what Senator Obama said about a year ago, he said he had not been a, quote, coal booster,” he said, as the crowd booed. “My friends, I’ve been a coal booster and it’s going to create jobs, and we’re going to export coal to other countries and we are going to create hundreds of thousands of jobs. That’s going to help restore the economy of the great state of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.”
Exit question via the ‘Cuda: Why is the audio tape just now surfacing? Three cheers for the crack McCain oppo research team.

Seems like the timing of the audio is OK. Enough time for ‘Cuda to get it out in front of swing state voters, and not enough time for Obama to come up with a believable walk-back.

Some dude on Politico, was on Fox. They are very Liberal which I know. But he claims he is from VA. And that Obama signs in his area, and the next town seem to be all Obama. Some reason I don’t believe the whole state is that gullible.

No wonder Barry doesn’t want to answer any questions until after the election …. let’s make the questions ALL be about why he lost.
VOTE VOTE VOTE …. and take someone with you for McCain/Palin!
Let’s roll.

We’ll see on Tuesday night. Vote.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard a presidential candidate suggesting that he would bankrupt an entire industry. It’s absolutely stunning.

I’m from (liberal) No. VA and he’s on crack.
More disinformation…..in fact, I’m going out tonight and relieve my media strip of some new Barry signs that went up today. Payback for my two signs that were there first and went missing.
GET IN THEIR FACES PEOPLE…..it’s our country at stake.
Let’s roll.

She’s a fine woman. Too bad she wants our troops to stay in Iraq and for us to bomb Iran. Otherwise, I’d be voting for her ticket.

Anecdotal to be sure, but here’s an excerpt from an e-mail from my sister in No. VA:
On the way to Charlottesville for [son's] end-of-season crew regatta, I saw very few Obama posters/signs. The real Virginians are for McCain; it’s No. VA that’s more liberal. Come Tuesday, I think VA will go for McCain.

Speaking of Palin, did anyone see the extended version of Palin and her family being introduced at a Friday night (Halloween) rally in Ohio to the tune of Michael Jackson’s Thriller? I saw a short clip of it on Greta, I think. It looked as if it was a wild rally.

Michigan Police Officer’s Take on Obama
The most interesting things arrive with the morning mail.
To all,
I have read all of the emails from not only some of the [Michigan Tactical Officer’s Association] board members, but from other Law Enforcement & Military personnel about Barack Obama’s rudeness and what seems to be disgust for basically anyone in uniform. Well, it’s my turn to add to the list of emailers and here it is:
So members of the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department, Michigan State Police, (me included) and other local agencies inside Calhoun County are working with Secret Service in the security of Mr. Obama. Mr. Obama’s bus arrives in Battle Creek and pulls into the stadium area. Before Mr. Obama exits the bus, he has the Secret Service get off and tell all Law Enforcement personnel in uniform that they now have to stand behind the bus so Mr. Obama is not seen with anyone in a Law Enforcement uniform before he gets off or while in the public view. So, everyone from Michigan State Police, Sheriff’s Deptments and other agencies look at each other for a brief second, go and stand behind the bus out of sight so Mr. Obama does not have to see, or been seen with, what to him is ‘undesirables’ since he refuses to been seen or even acknowledge Military or Law Enforcement personnel in uniform. And he wants to be our commander-in-chief!
At a time of war and terrorism in our world, this presidental candidate who is being protected by various branches of the military & law enforcement at the tax payers expense, refuses to acknowledge, be seen with, have in his photographed background, any type of Military or Law Enforcement in uniform.
But this is not in the headlines or in the news or on TV. The TV news doesn’t show us marching around behind the bus. In the future, look and see if you can see a single soldier or police officer in uniform when you see Obama. Why? I wonder what the story or media frenzy would be if it was Muslims, blacks, whites, Jews, or any other race, gender, religon, and/or occupation, that Mr. Obama refused to be seen with or have around him.
Why would I make this up? Everyone in Law Enforcement knows we have traditionally had more funding under Democrats.
Just food for thought leading up to November 4th.

If Obama succeeds in bankrupting coal, and prevents the construction of nuke and natural gas plants, we will all be sitting in the dark in a year or two.

Has anyone coined a term for the Bradley effect as it applies to the specific situation of blacks saying that they’ll vote for Obama and then pulling the lever for McCain?
I’m sure the numbers aren’t great, but those blacks who are salt-of-the-earth are just that. Some number of them have to be saying, “This guy’s going to set us back a generation.”
Indeed, Walter Williams said just that in a column that ran in my local paper in mid-March–the same weekend that the Wright clips went viral. Williams essentially argued that blacks need to have a Jackie Robinson-type to break the presidential color line, and Obama isn’t even close.
So, how about that Bradley-effect-like term?
The Just-Say-No-to-Kool-Aid Effect?

But the people’s temple of Obama and their leader have no problem with sending troops to Darfur and to Pakistan.
Apparently waging war against a country that is no threat and has not attacked us is only okay when you are a democrat.
Kind of like the war in Bosnia(no threat to us,had not attacked us) that was not sanctioned by the UN but Clinton was viewed as a liberator.
Yea,taking out genocidal, terrorist regimes that are responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people and started many wars, freeing over 50 million people
is a real big mistake .
The overwhelming majority of conservatives I know think we
have done the right thing.
The democrats did to until they saw an opportunity to use the difficulties of war as a means to make political advancement and a drive for the White House, selling out this
nation and stabbing our troops in the back in the process.
Baxter Greene on November 2, 2008 at 9:24 PM
Wow, linking to a “conservative” site which is linking to a video chopped by Talking Points Memo. Well done.
And so what if McCain is more likely to bomb Iran? Isn’t that good for us? Doesn’t that make Iran less likely to be more brazen in the future? Surely, if you understand Obama’s intentions this well, the intelligence community in Tehran does as well. Just because McCain is more likely to bomb Iran doesn’t mean he will. And just the fact that he is more likely to do it will deter Iran, which is what you want, right?

There will always be suffering in the world. You neoconservatives are thinking in the same terms as the Communists who believe that one day we can create some type of utopia on earth. There has been a war with Iran since they ceased our embassy in November of 1979.
carbon_footprint on November 2, 2008 at 9:29 PM
Nice paranoia. I prefer to look at things from the other perspective. The strength that McCain and Palin will put forward will go a long way to enabling us to avoid minor and major conflict.
Obama is Carter all over again. And Carter’s weakness led to the Iranians’ taking our citizens as hostage. Carter’s weakness almost got me drafted for an unnecesary armed conflict. Once we had strength back in the White House, our citizens were on the first flight back to the U.S. We can’t afford a weak-sister president like Obama.

You are correct that we cannot save the entire world from evil. For me, there’s room for disagreement about where/how the US can/should be involved militarily to relieve suffering.
But surely you believe stopping the Holocaust was justified. If not, you’ve embraced an absolutist ideology.
Also, the outright rejection of all ideology is an ideology in itself.

Sarah Palin is such a fantastic campaigner. I wish we had her on the team about a month earlier. Oh how I also wish McCain would have managed her rollout better. Or that we could just take back the Gibson and Couric interviews. Stupid political handlers just botched that one. Just let Palin be Palin and look at the momentum she builds for us. There is no way McCain would be in the running without her.
t.ferg on November 2, 2008 at 9:33 PM
I can’t believe some of you people are taking this lying POS seriously. Look, if you use Catholic in your name, you are either a devote Catholic or a lying POS. A devote Catholic could never, would never, support a candidate who actively promoted infanticide. So, you’re wasting your time taking this duplicitous pond scum seriously.
TheBigOldDog on November 2, 2008 at 9:34 PM
Yeah, I caught that Greta interview. She and her family are great. The kids are well disciplined and polite, they represent all that is good and great with the American family.
When Palin gets on a roll, she makes a convincing argument that consists flawless logic.
However, I find it disheartening to read someone would think she and McCain would start throwing bombs around. Especially, after Obama dingdong said he would invade Pakistan.

right4life on November 2, 2008 at 9:37 PM
Its okay, I think I drove the “Catholic” away with my ultimatum. He openly admitted that Obama would be less serious about opposing Iran, and I brought up a real reason why we should have a much stronger person in power when it comes to dealing with Iran. I mean, if you prefer the weaker person when it comes to dealing with Iran, you must, of course, be tacitly supportive of Iran’s nuclear efforts. There’s no other explanation.
jimmy the notable on November 2, 2008 at 9:37 PM
I’m in the Tampa, Fl area and let me tell you the McCain/Palin signs are everwhere now. 3 weeks ago all you saw was Obama bumperstickers. Today, coming back from Mass, I counted 23 McCain/Palin bumperstickers to 12 Obama. There were people waving McCain/Palin signs on Dale Mabry and I have not seen any people waving Obama signs.
I had a great conversation with a vet at the gas station about McCain. He had admired my Mavrick/Barracuda bumpersticker. I chatted with the other people in line to vote on Friday (we waited 1 1/2 hours). Florida is going to go for McCain.

I’m also horrified by infanticide (and by Obama’s support thereof). But there’s a fog of confusion concerning this election, even for some people of genuine faith. I’d rather err on the side of reaching out to someone searching for truth than simply rejecting him/her outright. If I’m fooled, so be it.

Er, in MN, not PA.
lorien1973 on November 2, 2008 at 9:39 PM
disheartening? I take that back, disingenuous.
As a recovering Catholic, even I know the democratic party is the party of infanticide and Obama is their high priest. But to say, even suggest that McCain Palin will start a war with Iran is disingenuous.
I would suggest you are so far from your faith as I am.
The difference is, I know right from just wrong.
Kini on November 2, 2008 at 9:40 PM
So, you’re a pacifist?
Are you aware of Obama’s stated position that “Iran must not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons under any circumstances”? He clearly implied that he would attack Iran to prevent that, and most recent intelligence estimates have them acquiring the bomb in 6 to 48 months.
I can only assume from your statements that you believe that McCain and Palin mean what the say about preventing a nuclear Iran, and that Obama is lying about it.
Is that fair to say?
Jaibones on November 2, 2008 at 9:41 PM
Ah, no, sorry. There’s no fog or gray area when it comes to devote Catholics. It’s crystal clear and repeated frequently.
TheBigOldDog on November 2, 2008 at 9:42 PM
Jimmy, there will be blowback if we keeping intervening w/ these Middle Eastern nations. These Islamists hate us first and foremost because we’re meddling in their affairs, not so much because they hate Western culture.
The GOP foreign policy is causing more people in the Middle East to hate us, planting the seeds for another 9/11. Al Qaeda will grow larger because of our intervention in the Middle East. If we bomb Iran, we’re only going to make more enemies. We have had aircraft carriers and nuclear submarines parked in the Persian Gulf for decades. No wonder the Iranians hate us. Imagine if China had its battleships parked outside of California. No American would tolerate that.
The solution is to not take such a ideological approach to supporting “democracy” or Israel in the Middle East.
Someone please answer my question: why does the US have the play the role of Israel’s big brother? Why do we have to fight Israel’s wars. How is this in our national interest? Why Israel, and not countries like Georgia, or Taiwan? Should we go to war with all despotic nations just to secure these democracies?
And as we’re trying to make the Middle East more like the US, we’re allowing the US to become more like Mexico. Let’s take our troops back from overseas and place them at the border.
MedSchoolCatholic on November 2, 2008 at 9:43 PM
People, people, people you are missing the forest for the trees.
Obama did not say he wanted to just bankrupt the coal industry. He said every carbon producing quote”I was the first to call for a 100 percent auction on the cap and trade system, which means that every unit of carbon or greenhouse gases emitted would be charged to the polluter”
that means coal fired electric plants, natural gas fired ones, that means cars, buses, trucks, train, airplanes, every industry in the nation, chemical plants, farmers, cross ocean shippers, computer makers, schools, resutrants,
HE WANTS TO CHARGE FOR EVERY UNIT OF CARBON EVERY UNIT>
Last I checked we produce carbon by breathing will we be taxed to breath?
unseen on November 2, 2008 at 9:43 PM
By the way, I taught at a Catholic college and was shocked at the “values” of the faculty there. Then you have Kerry, Biden, Ted Kennedy, etc.–all good Catholics (we’re told).
I wish the Church would break out the whip (metaphorically) and cleanse the temple of these pro-abortion types. As it stands now, it’s a mess.
