…a mighty amen to that!
…coarse language sometimes punctuates, if abruptly, strongly held views….
…and he seems enough of a man that he’d be the first to acknowledge and address the feelings of others on the matter…as circumstances permit….
…for my part, it seems that he loves his country, as we all do, and sees the danger presented by the possiblity of electing an untried, evidently unscrupulous socialist…intent on fundamentally changing the nation the way a 7-year-old disassembles a clock…with youthful malice when parts don’t go neatly back into place….
…Manly wasn’t disrespectful of the assembly here opining…and he has my respect, having read what he’s posted.

They see what we see, and they are nervous.

Well, I”m sitting here with about 48hrs to go, before we know whether the United States of America will end, as we know it, with the election of Barak HUSSEIN Obama, the Anti-American/Pro-Jihadi/Anti-Semitic/Anti-White Racist Marxist-Muslim-practicing-Taqiyah; or if we stave off the end of our glorious country by electing John McCain-Sarah Palin instead.
And I can’t decide whether to blather incoherently like a Leftist idiot and blow my brains out at the prospect of an Obama Presidency, or to be giddy and think that McCain will pull this out?
So, my brother calls; he lives up in AJ Strata country, in northern Virginia; Leesburg to be exact.
My brother is a Liberal Democrat, and a Clinton Fan; hates Bush; has since the day he got into office.
His wife is even more of a “lib”, and her sister, my brother’s sister-in-law is so liberal, she’d feel at home in a Hollywood Cocktail Party/Mutual Masturbatory Lovefest!
Anyway, my brother calls to reveal that he, his wife, and his sister-in-law; none of whom have ever voted “Republican” in their entire lives, are ALL voting for McCain, and all have decided that Obama is just plain “wrong”; something is not “right” about him; he’s either a “Socialist”, a “liar” or “slick”; (all three in my book, but I wasn’t about to disrupt his comments)!
So, trust me, this is like HELL FREEZING OVER, for this to happen.
My brother also maitains, that everyone he’s discussed this with in Northern VA, are all voting McCain/Palin, and just “pretend” to be voting for Obama, so nobody calls them “racist”.
He said you can’t believe the number of people he knows up there, that are like this, and who are really, really, really PISSED off because they can’t be honest with what they think, because they’ll be branded “racist” if they show any anti-Obama sentiment; at least in his circle of friends/family/acquaitences, almost all liberal Democrats, he says this is VERY widespread, and he says he’d be shocked if Obama carries Virginia, based upon what he’s personally seeing.
Despite our polar-opposite political philosophies, my brother and I have a great relationship, and talk very openly and honestly about all this stuff, always have, and always will; when we disagree, we disagree, and move on.
So, I know he’s not BS’ing me.
My only question is; how far this exact sentiment really extends, and is it enough to cause a “surprise” in Red & Swing States on Tuesday night that the Obama campaign has no idea is coming?

Obama will get EVERY black vote in NC & GA; and 90% of the liberal &/or gay votes in metropolitan Atlanta; but out side that, every single Redneck and good old boy in both states will vote McCain/Palin, and that is more than enough to offset the others.
Not a chance…and from family and friends it PA & VA; I’m starting to believe McCain will take both VA & PA as well!

Congressman Jerrold Nadler seems to have quite a different opinion of BHO’s “power and will” than poor Michelle. Here’s a vid from AtlasShrugs where finds the best explanation for BHO staying in Rev Wright’s church is that BHO lacked political courage. Nadler didn’t even get to address any of the others. Your Welcome ohiorebel. What everyone needs to remember is the MSM had Bush loosing back then. Kerry (Berry, what a contrast) was expected to win. Hands down. Everyone asked afterwards, how could the polls be so wrong? I think the answer is, the polls are skewed and sloshed with inaccurate data. Skewed because I don’t think most conservatives would answer a pollsters questions, but a liberal would. As sort of a badge of honor to proclaim in a loud voice whom they would vote for.
I remember conservative talk radio being very somber that day before the election back in November of 2004. Almost to the inevitable relief of the impending loss.
I am optimistic we will prevail.

Does anyone else think this is spooky?
I went to Amazon.com just for the heck of it and searched on books with the string “righteous wind at our back”. Guess what I found? A little book called “Start Making Sense: Turning the Lessons of Election 2004 into Winning Progressive Politics”. Here is a description:
Product Description
The first look at the lessons learned from the 2004 election, and an opening salvo from leading American thinkers, writers, and activists on how citizens can begin to deliver U.S. politics from fear and fundamentalism.
Millions of Americans were shocked by George W. Bush’s victory in the 2004 election. How could a majority of voters support a president with such a dismal and dangerous track record? The answer is clear for Democrats and progressives: It is time for new thinking and an end to our politics as usual.
Start Making Sense brings together the best progressive thinkers, critics, and organizers to explain what went wrong and how we can build a new Democratic Party that best represents and communicates our values and vision for America. It offers new ways to think about organizing, communicating, and investing in the structures and resources required for a truly democratic grassroots movement. This book outlines innovative solutions for reaching out to all voters who value hope and tolerance over fear.
About the Author
Don Hazen is the executive director of the Independent Media Institute and the executive editor of AlterNet. The former publisher of Mother Jones magazine, he has edited several books, most recently After 9/11: Solutions for a Saner World.
Lakshmi Chaudhry is a senior editor at AlterNet. Previously a staff writer at Wired News, she has written for various publications including Mother Jones, The Village Voice, Bitch, and Ms.Magazine. She is coauthor of AlterNet’s book, The Five Biggest Lies Bush Told Us About Iraq.
Other contributors to the book include: Arianna Huffington • Amy Goodman • Thomas Frank • Naomi Klein • Barbara Ehrenreich • Farai Chideya • George Lakoff • Ken Salazar • Tom Hayden • and other leading progressive activists, thinkers, and writers.
Also read the book reviews. Apparently it’s a primer on what the progressive agenda “should be”. Kyoto treaty, immediate withdrawal from Iraq, etc. etc.
I wonder if Obama would ever admit that’s where he got the phrase. This looks like a radical progressive agenda.

I’ve been a silent spectator here for most of this election season. I come to hotair because it is a haven of sorts for people who believe in free-market economics, small government and democracy. I believe in all of those. The only way in which I differ from quite a few of you is that I’m halfway across the world, in India (no, I do not work in tech support, and no, I cannot and will not fix your computer :D) and cannot vote in this election of yours.
But I’m following the election very closely because the world seems to be at a tipping point, precariously balanced on a peak. On one side of the peak lie Capitalism and freedom, on the other side lie socialism and misery. The next president of the US will determine the direction the US takes, and let’s be honest, with a democrat controlled legislature, a president Obama could ram full-blown socialism down the world’s throat in less than a year. I’ve lived in a socialist country. Socialism destroyed my country for 45 years after we gained independence. But the last decade and a half, we’ve moved towards capitalism and free markets, and I’ve seen it work with my own eyes.
If the US gives up on free-markets, the world will follow suit. The US has been a beacon of freedom (economic and otherwise) for decades, and has served as an example for nations around the world. This election is about people who want to snuff that beacon. This is for the soul of the world.
I see many people here feeling despair at every little thing McCain or his campaign does. I see people here who scream that the media is in the tank, but accept that Obama is inevitable with the very next breath. I see people cribbing about holding their nose and voting for McCain, as if they’re doing others a favour.
WHAT THE FREAKING HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?
If you’re giving up right now with two days to go, shame on you! You don’t deserve to be a pimple on George Washington’s behind!
And then I see people like ManlyRash, rallying the troops, so to speak. I cannot estimate the effect hotair has on the elections – nobody can, but understand this. The effect is very much there. I’ve learned more about Politics from this site (and Captain’s Quarters before that) than from all the major newspapers combined. And if you’re affecting my opinion all the way here in India, think of the effect you guys are having in your own country.
Don’t give up hope. Don’t sit idle in despair. Get up, get up, get up and fight with the old bastard. He’s suffered boatloads for you all. Do this to respect his sacrifice. Do this to respect those 5 years of freedom he gave up to fight for yours. I would be proud to vote for a man like him.
I’m going to repeat what ManlyRash has been saying for ages now – McCain’s going to win, and win big! Get off your butts and drag him across the line. Play your part in saving the world’s soul.

That they are not, does not speak well for this Nation at all.
If by some miracle 0bama doesn’t win this election, we conservatives HAVE to take back the educational system that we allowed the socialists and the ‘if it feels good, do it’ crowd to usurp. America has been dumbed down so far that it is teetering on the edge of the point of no return.

There’s a story out there about the CEO of JAL that took a pay cut to help his company.
This was voluntary, not compulsory.
Under the Obama plan, and the democrats, the face of business will change to look more like that of communist China in the 1960’s.
Just when China is starting to embrace capitalism, a free market society, and outstanding economic growth. Obama has said that China is ahead of the United States, and he sees China as being better than the United States.
This is extraordinary since it was western capitalistic influences that brought China into the world markets and economic freedoms. Granted that China is way not there yet, but it is clearly on it’s way to a system that we all take for granted. Consider that China still cannot get southern Sichuan rebuilt (that may be a poor description) after the earthquake of August 2008. Point is, the infrastructure is not there as Obama says.
China is still an emerging market. It has a long way to go before it can be called a free market. I’ve been to China, it has a long way to go. India is freer market compared to that of China. Yet India is struggling with vast social economic problems.
Point is, we the American people are the template. The example of Greatness. The benchmark for success.
Our economic crisis is nothing compared to what’s happening around the world. It will take leadership to bring us back to prosperity. However, whatever we decide this election, it will either put us on the path to economic prosperity or economic depression.
And to use a phrase that liberals seem to like these days:
Insha’Allah
It is my opinion is that it’s our will. Not God’s will.

This morning, the mainstream media has begun a barrage of McCain negativism and dooms day predictions essentially anointing Obama a day before the election. We have two enemies in this country, the media and the Democrats. Compared to this duo, terrorists are pushovers. This country is irreparably and irreconcilable divided. The best alternative is a separation of the land mass and its resources to allow like minded people to live and work as they please without a diametrically opposed philosophy constantly being imposed upon them. The part I live in will continue to be called the “United States of America” and the other part will undoubtedly have some socialist or communist identifier. Hang it up people, the old Republic is dead.

So Barry has been quoting Chairman Mao? What a shocker! I can’t wait to hear Rick Moran’s reaction.
FWIW, I sent Drudge the Mao quote on “righteous wind” since he’s been using it as a headline.

Willian F. Buckley would speak to a generation of Conservatives… then he would father a generation of patrician RINO’s.

Do you want to see the past predict the future? Detroit has a perfect example of a charismatic, young, well-spoken, hope filled, pie-in-the-sky, promise-anything candidate. He was also inexperienced, arrogant, unprepared for the job, associating with questionable characters, claiming a righteous wind and playing the race card. Our emperor with no clothes is now sitting in a jail cell. Kwame Kilpatrick = Barack Obama. The similarities are astounding.

That’s interesting he’s been saving these powers, since up to know, he hasn’t used them for anything at all.

I wonder if she’s a bit worried that all these nice young “progressives” are going to sit on their bums and get stoned rather than vote… I mean why should they bother, the 0 has already won no?!

I was also away for the weekend, doing GOTV in PA. From anecdotal evidence in Wilkes-Barre, the PUMA’s are out in force there–they call themselves Democrats for McCain, and they were blitzing phone lines and banging on doors for McCain-Palin, and tearing Obama apart about socialism, and they had busloads coming in from New York State (Hillary country). A McCain rally in Scranton overflowed the place, over 3,000 in Biden’s hometown, and hundreds more couldn’t get in because the fire-marshall thought it was unsafe.
Don’t know for sure, but from the excitement there, PA could be a nasty surprise for Obama tomorrow!

He can DO ANYTHING…. Except:
Stand up to Rev. Wright
FIND his illegal immigrant aunt
Give back those fake donations
Find his birth certificate.
Read up on William Ayers and Bernardine Dorhn
Understand what went on in Georgia.
Pick a good VP candidate.
Stand Up to Harry and Nancy.
