Obama: I won’t answer questions until after the election

posted at 2:15 pm on November 2, 2008 by Ed Morrissey
Share on Facebook | printer-friendly

A profile in political courage this is not.  Given his recent gaffe on redistributionism, though, it’s probably smart.  ABC’s Jake Tapper tried to get Obama to talk about his plans for the economic rescue plan, but Obama refused:

JT: What would you tell your Treasury Secretary to do differently with the $700 billion?

BO: We’re on a tarmac.

JT: Why don’t you have a press conference?

BO: I will.  On Wednesday.

Remember when the media screeched over Sarah Palin’s lack of press availability after the convention?  Neither Obama nor Joe Biden have taken questions from the press in weeks.  If Palin’s fortnight of preparation somehow revealed her unreadiness for higher office, what does this say about Barack Obama?

Sorry guys but all this talk I hear about how conservatives are different and we won’t turn on Obama if he’s elected. How we will stand and salute. Sorry. He’s not a liberal. He’s a leftist. They don’t believe in the free press, the rule of law, capitalism, the Constitution, American Exceptionalism, none of it. If we want to oppose people like this we can’t use our rule book. I’m not talking about a version of Bush Derangement Syndrome for the Right. I’m talking about not giving him any honeymoon. Cutting him no slack. Opposing him totally and completely in every way without ever letting up.

If Palin’s fortnight of preparation somehow revealed her unreadiness for higher office, what does this say about Barack Obama?

It means the Emperor realizes that we’ve all noticed he’s wearing no clothes.

He’s realized he can’t afford any more unscripted performances, otherwise the few who are left voting for him might just stay home; McCain is perched to win. VOTE people!

By the way, some of you may be interested to know that I am seeing a very lopsided trend among my law-enforcement frineds, many of who are life-long Dems, some of which are elected Democrats or Democrat appointments, towards not only not voting for Obi-one, but actually voicing strong support for McCain/Palin. At this point the numbers in that community would be running about 10/1 McCain, here in Indiana.

He really is the most arrogant candidate I’ve ever seen or heard. He thinks he is so far above everyone else and that we all have a lot of nerve for daring to question him. If he had to put up with the same treatment from the media that McCain/Palin have had to he wouldn’t last a day.

*If* he wins there will be some buyer’s remorse, but you can also bet that he’s going to use that old excuse “it’s Bush’s fault” for as long as he can and that a significant number will buy it hook line and sinker, just as they always have.

In Pennsylvania, Obama Sees McCain Hi-Beams in His Rear-View Mirror: Barack Obama 51%, John McCain 44%, in Pennsylvania interviewing through Friday night 10/31/08. The candidates are tied among white voters, tied among those without a college degree. The situation is volatile. SurveyUSA will continue to collect data for WCAU-TV Philadelphia, KDKA-TV Pittsburgh, WNEP-TV Wilkes-Barre, WJAC-TV Johnstown, and WHTM-TV Harrisburg.

ManlyRash on November 2, 2008 at 1:38 PM

When will buyer’s remorse hit people?

After the coal plants decommissioned or when we run out of candles?

lorien1973 on November 2, 2008 at 1:18 PM

It will happen pretty soon after Obama takes office. Obama is a great lawyer — he knows how to manipulate procedural rules to his benefit (e.g., playing in Chicago machine politics, using petition signature challenges to win his State Senate seat, convincing Hillary to go along with Dean’s plan to discount MI and FL) and how to avoid taking a firm position (e.g. voting “present,” not writing anything of substance other than his goofy memoirs in his entire life, weasel double-talk on his policies). Actually, I’m not so sure how great Obama is at those tasks–yes, he is going to be our next President, but he had a HUGE assist from the MSM and the financial crisis, and will probably only beat McCain by a narrow margin.

But at bottom, while those are important tools to help you get elected, they won’t work to save him once he’s in office. Some of his political advisors will probably tell him to triangulate, but there’s a difference between Obama and Clinton: Clinton fundamentally was a centrist. Obama actually IS a leftist radical. And when Pelosi and Reid present him with commie legislation to sign into law, the tug on him will be too great, and he’ll sign off on it. Likewise with his executive policies. People will soon realize he is FAR more left-wing than they signed up for. And then I think he’s going to crater.

And for a good laugh, Biden is out claiming that they will want to heal the nation when they are elected, and that they will be bipartisan. Having had an 87 year old grandfather undergo a hip replacement, let me tell you that it was a VERY touch-and-go situation. I do not blame Obama for his return to HI and will give him the benefit of the doubt on that.

To be honest, I think the more likely reason the birth certificate was covered up was maybe to conceal something ELSE embarrassing about the birth. Perhaps one or both parents were underaged? There’s no way Obama can keep the lid on his birth certificate forever. If he took office and then a year later, documents providing that Obama was born in Kenya or somewhere else came out, it would be an epic scandal and I honestly do not think Obama could survive it. The American people and the Press REALLY do not like being lied to, and Obama has stated several times on the record that he was born in America.

Spread the wealth, he says.

He just say, bottom up economics. Take from the rich and give to the underserving. This will increasing spending, he says.

But of course, all that unemployment his policies will cause will quickly lead screeching halt to any growth, or spending

I can’t believe my tax dollars go to NPR. Yesterday, I heard some Obama lovin’ reporter in Arizona saying it is only you and your conscience in the voting booth…McCain will never know if you don’t vote for him… you have to ask if you can live with yourself the next four years… blah blah blah.

Yes–why I am paying for NPR and PBS (and ACORN and Planned Parenthood)? Make these media outlets compete like everyone else–it’s not as if they don’t have advertisers funding them.

The media are absolutely complicit in this guy’s current position in the race. If he wins it’s because of them. If he loses narrowly it will have only been close because of them. It is immensely frustrating. – t.ferg on November 2, 2008 at 1:44 PM

How about this: McCain will win handily in spite of them?
