Obama: I won’t answer questions until after the election

posted at 2:15 pm on November 2, 2008 by Ed Morrissey

A profile in political courage this is not.  Given his recent gaffe on redistributionism, though, it’s probably smart.  ABC’s Jake Tapper tried to get Obama to talk about his plans for the economic rescue plan, but Obama refused:

JT: What would you tell your Treasury Secretary to do differently with the $700 billion?

BO: We’re on a tarmac.

JT: Why don’t you have a press conference?

BO: I will.  On Wednesday.

Remember when the media screeched over Sarah Palin’s lack of press availability after the convention?  Neither Obama nor Joe Biden have taken questions from the press in weeks.  If Palin’s fortnight of preparation somehow revealed her unreadiness for higher office, what does this say about Barack Obama?

Kini said it already – redemption can come shortly before death.

Btw, our Kini is not only a Hawaian resident, but he’s also French, or in part French.

Kini on November 2, 2008 at 3:04 PM

I wonder how many recessions Sears has survived. Not to put too fine a point on it but I’ll bet most of the stock is owned by pension plans and similar “people power” groups.

Really evil to produce profits to take care of old people.

platypus on November 2, 2008 at 3:11 PM

ManlyRash on November 2, 2008 at 2:53 PM

Yes. If you have a pension plan (teachers, autoworkers, etc.), you have a vested interest in the success of the “evil corporations.” And you should hope that your fund manager is pursuing profit-making, not some other high-minded goal.

And we know Obama and his policy makers want a piece of that action.

Obama: I won’t answer questions until after the election

That statement alone should push every “undecided/independent” to McCain/Palin…….. and if the media had any last spec of journalistic creed, this statement would be 24/7 at full volume {11}, with the follow up……..”Mr. Obama, why won’t you answer the question”, and the editorials….”Don’t vote for him unless you know his mind…”

What if his answer is………. “Martial Law”, and then some goon comes and throws you in the back of a van with a bunch of other “journalists”?

……….. plenty of time to reflect on how you wasted your 1st Amendment right.

If government pension plans are buying Sears stock, then they need to get a better broker.

I heard McCain on XM this afternoon, not sure where he was, but he was great! really upbeat, very clear, very powerful, I kept thinking, “Even if Barry wasn’t a lying, crybaby, socialist, why would anyone vote for his no-record vs. McCains?” It’s like Freedon-suicide! I’ll probably go to my grave not “getting it”.

I’m with all who’ve said it before me: VOTE EARLY! Don’t give yourself a chance to get down by the lying pollsters and pundits!!

Rom 8:35; 38,39
35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

. . .

38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,

39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
NASU

Rom 5:8
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

I wonder if Obama will be gracious in defeat or will he spend the next six months sulking like Gore did?

Dreadnought223 on November 2, 2008 at 1:31 PM

If Obama loses, it’s not Obama’s reaction I’m worried about but his followers. The chances of riots happening are better than average I’d wager.

Yakko77 on November 2, 2008 at 11:25 PM

Warning: God-talk to follow. Read at your own risk.
ManlyRash, it is not possible for God to forget you. It is only possible for us to forget God for a time. I often do, myself, but God gently reminds me that he loves me in so many ways that I never fail to get misty-eyed when that happens. God made you not to be perfect, but to know His perfect love. We all fall short (me more than most) and none of us are deserving of it, but we are all one simple prayer away from forgiveness.

SKYFOX on November 3, 2008 at 6:19 AM

The chances of riots happening are better than average I’d wager.

Riots are a distinct possibility even if Obama wins.

And if they burn down their neighborhoods then Obama can spend federal money to rebuild them.

What Comrade Obama is really saying:

“If I am elected POTUS do I have a SURPRISE for all you SUCKERS out there.
Now(at last) let me tell you & show you who I really am”

You have to wonder if the MSM will continue to not ask him any relevant questions. Also, has anyone figured out how a teleprompter works at a news conference?

Maybe he’ll answer questions if the press will let him have a teleprompter.
