Malcolm: Expulsion of reporters from O Force One “a cheesy hardball”
posted at 11:10 am on November 1, 2008 by Ed Morrissey

Andrew Malcom gives a withering criticism of Barack Obama’s decision to expel reporters from three newspapers who endorsed John McCain this week. The LA Times’ political blogger calls it “a cheesy hardball” that smacks of the Chicago machine, but does it with humor and sarcasm:
Think about it: Why would a political campaign take retribution on reporters for a decision made by their publication’s separate editorial boards? The publications, after all, pay their own way on the charters.
That would be a cheesy hardball — and quite possibly counterproductive — Chicago kind of thing for a frontrunner to do, especially one on a national unity ticket. A candidate’s organization would have to reflect an enormous ego and over-confidence to pull something like that.
Next thing you know such a campaign might urge supporters to clog a radio station’s phone lines or e-mail boxes just because it gave air-time to an Obama critic.
And it’s certainly not the kind of hands-across-the-aisle, bipartisan change we need and/or can believe in a national capital that could use a large dose of both.
Malcolm sees what the Tanning Bed Media has largely missed in the general election. Barack Obama has no interest in bipartisanship or reaching across the aisle. He wants power, and Obama hits back ruthlessly to those who challenge his bid for it. The reporters who got their seats cancelled on O Force One got off easy; Stanley Kurtz, David Freddoso, and Jerome Corsi all had the presidential campaign target them for open character assassination.
Most of the national media chose to ignore the virulent responses and attempts to silence journalists who dared to actually look at public records and conduct interviews with people who know Obama. Malcolm, unfortunately, is an exception rather than the rule. The media has betrayed its own, and for what? Better access? This incident shows that access to Barack Obama is on the same terms negotiated by Eason Jordan with Saddam Hussein for CNN’s Baghdad bureau: report the truth, and access will be canceled.
If the media mavens think this will magically change once Obama wins the election, then they are engaging in the same wish-fantasy Christopher Buckley used in his endorsement. What would prompt Obama to change a winning strategy of media intimidation and hard-Left ideology?

Malcolm’s bio is interesting and this portion is germane to what we can expect from Democrats:
I too remember watching conventions as a child and being fascinated by each “great state’s” recitation of their delegate’s votes, while proudly extolling the virtues of their state.
Yet, for the first time in 50 years, the Democrats eliminated that tradition of a public roll-call at the Democrat Convention, and relegated it to a secret operation done from hotel rooms.

I sure hope so, MR. Been feeling more confident in the past couple weeks (you’ve been a huge influence with your optimism – it’s contagious!), but my husband said this morning not to get my hopes up for a fall, just in case. He’s a dyed in the wool pessimist anyway.
We’re going to win this – I just have this feeling deep down. I’ve been convinced that people have become just knuckleheaded drooling followers and not thinking – but I now believe there is that “silent majority” out there who will, in fact, pull this off.

About the “silent majority”, ie. not answering the pollsters, here in Philly suburbs, there seem to be more McCain signs out, just in the past week. I drive the same route each time and the Obama signs are the ones that have always been there…tattered and faded and falling over.
It seems as though even less are stolen than before as well. Are they running out of steam or just too confident?

Marxist strategy is being employed here and people should open their eyes. This is going to get worst if Obama gets elected. He will silence his critics and he will have the power to do so. If he can manage to change the election results thru Acorn, believe me, with the judges he will be putting in place, America will become a banana republic. It is not a far-fetch idea but realistic. With the media on your side, a perfect scenario. That’s what tyrants do!

Bottom line: Chicago was the headquarters of the CPUSA and not much has changed since it was founded. But don’t take my word for it, let’s go to the CPUSA’s website:
Founded in Chicago in 1919, the Communist Party of the United States has an outstanding history in the struggles for peace, democratic rights, racial and gender equality, economic justice, union organization, and international solidarity…blah blah blah

Story out of Florida yesterday. The Republican Party states that the number of absentee ballots request and the number returned in Broward County is way off. The ballots state on the outside that they are either Republican or Democrat and it is being hinted at that the mail carriers are disposing of the the Republican ballots. Now they weren’t going to win that county anyway but this is getting out of hand. On another note, I voted early yesterday in my county, they did an excellent job, it took about fifteen minutes and it was a steady number of people.

I commute from Prince William County, VA through Fairfax County into the District of Columbia to work, and back home(about 30 miles each way on I-66). The past 10 days or so, I have to say I like what I’m seeing. Lots and lots more McCain/Palin bumper stickers compared to just a month ago. I think it was Thursday, if I recall correctly, the ratio was about 3:1 for McCain. I was pleasently surprised to see that here in the liberal bastion of Northern VA.

The two are different, Dave. You think it’s a good thing that Obama takes questions only from journalists working for papers that have explicitly endorsed him? Really? You think that’s cool? McCain hasn’t done that. The New York Times is still on McCain’s plane writing up their crap even if Maureen Dowd isn’t.

It speaks volumes on how dissent will be treated in a Obama administration.

Do they get paid to mess with the signs each night? Each morning, it’s a game in our house to compare how many signs are missing or defaced. Like I said earlier, they seem to be backing off and the McCain/Palin signs seem to be multiplying…here in Philly suburbs.
I think they may be getting the picture that a recession will be turned into a depression, especially with Pelosi and Reid. They also don’t like the whole Fannie/Freddie thing and it is because of the Dems, all the way back to Carter.

As I’ve watched the media over the past few months, one historic figure has recuringly been in my thoughts. A man who believed himself indispensible to his leader. Someone who KNEW he was so important that he was safe, come what may. The members of the media would do well to review his career, and his death.

The trolls aren’t so bad because usually they write something meant to discourage, demoralize or astroturf Axelrod’s latest meme but the very quick and intelligent members of the site come right back at them, set them staight and we all get good info from the discourse. It’s when HA members let trolls hijack a good thread, they start fighting and start comparing the size of their private parts that things disintegrate and we all get disgusted.

You’ve got it wrong. It’s not intimidation. He’s just avoiding anyone that’s going to ask him tough questions and freezing out “hostile” media. Normally, when politicians are too blatant about avoiding tough questions, the press will call you on it and embarrass you. But the press is so much in love with Obama that they can’t bring themselves to call Obama on it.
Likewise, when Obama takes power next year and bans Fox from the White House Press Corps., does the Fairness Doctrine to kill off talk radio (much more effective than having his supporters jam the phone lines when Freddoso is being interviewed), and generally instructs the entire Democratic party to boycott any media that don’t fawn over them, the media STILL won’t call it, because they love Democrats that much.

Jesus the real Messiah himself, wouldn’t change Obama, not in a second, third, fourth or any number of comings, unless there is true penance for his wrongdoings and he does a true 180 turnabout.
And…. he (Barack Hussein Obama) won’t do that as long as there is some liberal or “righty” bloggers, commentators or writers calling him a first class candidate who has first class intellect and first class temperament.
If… and this is a big IF.. every toe sucking, head massaging, foot bathing, knee knocking, leg tingling, crotch admiring, naval gazing, “belly dancing”, shoulder bumping, necking, winking, smootching, fist bumping, nasal smelling and kiss blowing admirer on the left, middle, center or any other position would stop this worshipping only reserved for the real King and instead start criticizing Obama for everything that so desperately needs changing…….. then and only then would the ground work be started for an Obama personal growth journey to begin.
The problem is, Obama is a real spoiled brat from since childhood and he doesn’t understand nor comprehend, nor appreciate or welcome criticism.
And I’m real close to calling anyone a fool who doesn’t understand this.
But I’ll reserve that judgment until after his epic failed campaign fully materializes for you ignoramuses to see and then see what you worshiper’s responses’ are, after the details and the depth of his involvement in corruption is fully revealed.
I frankly get tired, really sick and tired of anybody.. but particularly anybody that confesses to having a brain to the right of the extreme liberal mindset, to CONTINUE… to continue, to act, as IF.. THIS SPOILED BRAT DESERVES ANYMORE RESPECT ON ANY.. POLITICAL PLATFROM!!
And before I tone down, I need to see a public apology from everybody who has either overtly or inadvertantly used the two (2) word phrase: “first class” in any sentence, written or otherwise, to describe Obama or anything he has done!!
To use this phrase for anything other that which truly is first class, as in, that which is top notch goodness for mankind, the world at large and etcetera, etcetera, etcetera is such a mangling of the meaning, and IT PISSES ME OFF TO NO END!!
The idea… that we as country, a society, a nation, a people, have, stooped so low and become so naive, that, we call a corrupt politician, first class… pisses me off and makes me MAD AS HELL!!!

Buy Danish,
you are right about the communists in Chicago leftist politics, but Daley is much worse, imo. He co-opts the radical left, gives them some autonomy, and gains power from it.
Same as the racial self-interests in the Hispanic and black communities – Daley gives them a government function to serve as an outlet for their patronage needs, and everyone gets stronger. Like the Democrat-Farm-Labor coalition in Minnesota, but it’s the Radical Left-Racist-Mob-Union-Democrat coalition in Chicago.
Jaibones on November 1, 2008 at 10:10 PM
Clearly, Obama no longer feels he needs to watch what he says. The selfishness remarks, the throwing the reporters from papers that endorsed McCain off his campaign plane and now he advocates a special police force under his own control that gets equal funding to the national army. A 600 billion dollar a year personnel secret police? What legitimate purpose is there for that?
This guy is just a more well-spoken Hugo Chavez. Hopefully pride goeth before a fall but once he takes all the conservative news programs off the air through the fairness doctrine he will probably get a completely pro Obama media and have a 70% approval rating like Putin has in Russia now that he controls all the sources of news.

It’s not just partisanship with the big-eared goblin, it’s vindictive partisanship on a level most folks are not prepared to admit could even exist. This slimey turd makes Billy Jeff look like a piker in that regard. For the most part, Obama maintains an air of icy calm, rarely exposing his inner ugly (but it’s juicy when he does) and letting his Igors throw the switch on his growing list of enemies. But do not doubt the depth of his vindictiveness. There’s a deep well of ugly there that must be capped on Tuesday or we will see a virulent, partisan disease loosed upon the face of a once great nation. Hitler, Stalin and Mao may be dead, but evil always resurrects in some form. And it always seeks to control through intimidation and violence. Obama will eliminate his friends…last. He only needs sycophantic toadies and control of the military.
Obama uber alles.
