Audio: Palin pranked
posted at 8:17 pm on November 1, 2008 by Allahpundit
Clip via Tapper, who has a transcript. Starts off cute, ends with them congratulating her on that Hustler porno Larry Flynt made about her. She handles it as well as anyone could, although the left will seize on the fact that she would have known it was a prank sooner if she had recognized the fake names of the Canadian officials.
Quoth her spokesman, “C’est la vie.”

That’s because she was pranked by people who aren’t political fans of hers. Heck, they aren’t even part of her electorate. Of course… you understand that.
Are you going out of your way to prove you’re a stupid immature child?
By the way, I just listened to it. Alaska borders Canada… the negotiatied a pipeline deal with the Canadian government. How come she didn’t know the Prime Minister is Stephen Harper?
That was embarrassing. And her aid should be fired.
I love Palin as a person, but wow.

Exactly. And if Allah didn’t even mention it would the same people be harping about that or would they be happy to hear that “news” from another source. I may not like what has been happening to Palin and her family, but I sure as shite would rather hear about it here than some source such as msnbc.

Wow, you guys got some thin skins. Yeah, it was stupid, but why the hate for Allah? Are you guys really that insecure that you can’t handle anything that puts our candidate in a less than favorable light? Do you really believe that anyone reading this blog will change their vote from McCain to Obama because Allah posted this? Really? Do you really want Hot Air to be nothing more than a right-wing DKos? I know I don’t.

Nice try, Lefty. Real conservatives don’t “shrug away” and excuse Socialism like the Health Services Fund or the horrible Canadian excise taxes.
Check your day-cares again; it’s called rationing and only the dull-eyed and dull-eared accept it. Since you not only tolerate subsidized daycare, but extol it, you can only be a TRUE BELIEVER.

The Canadian Government is in a surplus due to my taxes. My taxes are steady at 32%. And you want me to do what exaxtly to screw myslef.
I pay no healthcare

I pay cheap daycare
My tax rate is on par with other Canadians. Do I take a conservative stand and refuse it all. I’m sure the government will lower my taxes by at least 2 percent that won’t save me squat.

As a long time reader and somewhat infrequent commenter I have to say that yes, the gloom and doom DOES get a bit wearing. There is however, enough solid content here to allow me to disregard the bulk of it, ESPECIALLY the poll surfing.
I have to further say that I’m sure all of you realize the import of this election, and all the familiar exhortations about support are even more important this year. So perhaps a sober realization of that, and not dwelling quite so much on the negatives is in order.
Make what you wish of this.

I think people are upset because this is the one safe-haven we have where we don’t have to hear the constant media assault on Sarah Palin and her family.
Some of us here still have morals and values that dictate that women should be respected, not treated like whores or sluts, unless they carry themselves in that manner, which Gov Palin most certainly does not.
There are 2 things I consider off limits, and in bad taste to attack in regards to the 2008 election.
1. A Candidate’s deceased spouse
2. A Candidate’s underage children
Have you seen or heard a single right-wing outlet attack Biden’s deceased wife? Of course not, it’s in bad taste, and above all absolutely terrible to do. I don’t think I went a day in September where I didn’t hear or see someone from the left smear Bristol Palin.

TOPV on November 2, 2008 at 1:58 AM
Yes, of course. Your staff, whom you trust, tells you a head of state is on the phone. The conversation initially sounds reasonable, then gets a little odd, which you can tell Sarah picks up on by her reactions. The guy has an accent and speaks quickly, especially with names, as you will notice. But Palin is the one who is stupid. Got it. I guess Sarkozy is stupid too, since he fell for a similar prank.
Oh and Steph Carse was the name given instead of Stephen Harper. Throw in the accent and the quick talking and tell me you would catch that without a doubt.
SAZMD on November 2, 2008 at 2:21 AM
I’m thinking they should be firing the aide that handed off that phone call to Palin.
Note to Sarah: If you become VP, please fire every aide McCain dumped on you and get your own staff.
P.S. I’m available for such a job by the way. =D

Blake on November 2, 2008 at 8:57 AM
I would never attack Biden’s deceased wife (there but by the grace of God go I). However, Biden sure opened himself up to attack by lying and saying the guy that hit her was drinking. His lies caused that poor man and his family terrible pain.
Blake on November 2, 2008 at 9:18 AM
Wanting or wishing for people who disagree with you to be banned? I’m so shocked. And here I thought that you didn’t like it when people did that. I guess you are all for it now. How ironic.
Imagine that. People who express their opinion need to shut up and support the site without saying anything bad. And here I thought that was the exclusive behavior of McCain supporters ‘telling people to support McCain or shut up.‘ Again, how ironic of you to act this way now.
And while this prank at Palin is given the widest distribution here on the main page, allowing the most people to hear of this humiliation of her by liberals – did you catch the obscure headline post about Newt? Here’s a snippet:
Pretty powerful stuff. Also good to know if you encounter a democrat who wants to tell you how much of an idiot they think Palin is. If you knew this quote from Newt, you could answer them with this fact of Biden’s actual stupidity. And that’s buried in the headline section where fewer people read.
Pretty awesome, no?
wise_man on November 2, 2008 at 10:38 AM
On BBC’s Graham Norton Show, guests Ricky Gervais (The Office, Ghost Town) and Thandie Newton (W, Crash) joined in a script reading of the Sarah Palin porn film. This was a follow-up joke segment that previous guests Jennifer Saunders (Absolutely Fabulous) and Cindi Lauper found distasteful. Right before the script reading, Ricky stated that “Sarah Palin was just unbelievable.” Graham stated “she’s genius, no one saw that coming, it was a really good election anyway, and she showed up, it was like woow.” Ricky added “there’s things on the internet that she’s the new David Brent, she screws up and lies and it’s really dreadful, she says you shouldn’t have an abortion even if you’re raped by a family member, how f***ing mental is that.” Graham showed a picture of a basset hound with large artificially raised ears, to which Ricky quipped “Sarah Palin!”

Just another example of how sweet and sincere Gov Palin is in the face of a childish left-handed prank. Makes we want to vote for her ticket even more.

Sigh. Just two more morons whose movies I’ll avoid.
Blake on November 2, 2008 at 11:02 AM
You’ve bought brought up excellent points. One, that articles that would keep us informed are pushed out by the Palin bashing ones. And none of you idiots better come back with the b.s. retort that we must know what the left is saying. This prank crap was already posted on HA. Two, that the left continues to lie and demean Palin and are assisted in doing so by “conservatives” who repeat it ad nausem. Three, any complaints about the above will send the usual suspects into obscenity laced tantrums.
Blake on November 2, 2008 at 11:13 AM
Very funny. She handled it well. These days you need to be careful. There is a protocol for handling these things and they took advantage of her aide’s inexperience. Someone I know got called up to represent his country in a big sporting fixture and he told his coach to ‘f@%k off’and hung up because he thought it was a prank. He still got to play.
Palin won’t be hurt by this at all and I’m not sure why Allah is getting stick for putting it up.
lexhamfox on November 2, 2008 at 11:25 AM
That’s exactly the way I felt about that prank. I almost wish McCain hadn’t picked her. If they lose, she will have endured all of this for nothing and those vultures will continue to pick at her. I am so angry with the left and some on the right, they destroy anyone who doesn’t think, or act or talk like them.
All those “conservatives” who jumped on the trash Sarah bandwagon should have been bolstering her instead. They should have been celebrating the fact that she is not a bought and paid for mouthpiece. But, they don’t like her background. They don’t like her style. They don’t like her.
Too damn bad. They should have STFU. With friends like them, who needs enemies. I say F-em.

DarkCurrent on November 2, 2008 at 12:21 PM
What do Biden’s dead wife or Palin’s kids have to do with this particular entry? This is about Palin falling for a silly prank. Sarah Palin. Not Bristol or Piper Palin. You know, the Palin who is actually running for VP on the Republican ticket? I don’t see the big deal here. Maybe I’m naive, but I honestly can’t imagine anyone changing their vote over this, and I really don’t understand the vitriol directed at Allah for posting this.
holygoat on November 2, 2008 at 12:43 PM
Within 10 minutes the guy posted nineteen times, most of them with one word. What exactly constitutes spam for you? Disagreement has nothing to do with abusing the privilege to comment here.
When their opinion is stating over and over that the person who runs the site is a jerk and needs to be fired, that person is a troll. Email your complaints to Michelle, and if she sees fit, she’ll deal with it. Continuing to say that Allah is an “ASS and a JERK and WHATEVER” is pure trolling.
Take away your agreement with the guy and be objective for a minute or two.

This story is in EVERY newspaper as it reveals a lot about the VP nominee whom is a heartbeat away from the presidency! So you fools want not to hear about Sarah’s latest fiasco or want the story as a headline so it will quickly fly off the HotAir HomePage?! You are sad.
Sarah Palin is beyond dumb to NOT realize UNTIL BEING TOLD that this was a prank call!!! She IS NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME!
FAKE SARKOZY: “Exactly, we could go try hunting by helicopter like you did. I never did that.”
I LOVE these guys for bringing that up!!! It is a barbaric practice that Palin shamefully supports! Check out how “fun” this is, especially for the wolves!

Since you deem the question irrelevant, I can only assume then that you consider trolling relevant discourse and therefore undeserving of a ban.
That is what your snide dismissal leads me to believe. Please correct me if I am wrong in extrapolating that you consider more than a dozen one-word posts in 10 minutes to be relevant discourse that does not constitute corrective action.

Portrait of a man with character and integrity telling the truth:
I am done with this, which is yet another, wasteful thread of Allahpundit’s. Oh – and, yes, I have the Freedom of Speech to voice that opinion here, despite the protests of some who would censor and silence that ability.
grtflmark on November 2, 2008 at 4:25 PM
No, you don’t. You have the permission to voice your opinion here, which can be revoked at any time. Could you go into a stranger’s house and force them to listen to what you have to say? Of course not, because they could throw you out without you getting a chance to say a word. Free speech means that you cannot be punished or censored by the state for expressing yourself. Private site, with rules and restrictions. You don’t know the difference, and that’s because you don’t know your rights. Until you know them, you’d best stop making an ass of yourself.

That’s settles it – I think everyone should vote for Obama, because I’m sure he would never get pranked or punked and he knows the name of every Canadian and French official. Because he is just that clever. Never mind that he had to call the grownups about the financial crisis before responding.
Just because he thought that guy in his neighborhood was rehabilitated, and slept through 20 years worth of sermons at his church (even the ones that were so good they made the Best Of DVDs in the church gift shop)well, that’s just beside the point.
Queen0fCups on November 2, 2008 at 7:19 PM
Assuredly, no one here hates AP more than me. AP’s history of creating and spreading doubt, dampening, dissension, discouragement, and disinformation would almost make me hope for a Hussein victory, in order for AP have to change to a less “intolerant” username before being shut down by Internet “fairness doctrines.”
But in this case, AP presented this almost appropriately. Even the negative point at the end was offered with at least some sense of having a “constructive criticism” element.
But I have every confidence the HA staff has a nice little November surprise in store for the next 48 hours. They will clutch defeat from the jaws of victory yet! And eliminate their line of work as a result. Internet journalists can be so silly!
As for Palin there, on the name of the Canadian PM, I’ll cut just a bit of slack because of the accent (“Stef Carse”-”Stephen Harper”–spoken with that goofy accent over the phone by someone believed to be French) and because of the protocol calling for not “gotcha-ing” a foreign leader. I can picture a frog screwing something like that up.
Tapper said Quebec has a premier, not a PM. The two terms are used interchangeably. He’s thus a liar. As for not knowing the PM/Premier of Quebec, that province has nothing to do with Alaska, and I suspect most Canadians premiers don’t know who the governor of Utah is. (They might know Louisiana, though.)
On the bright side, it does give us yet another reason to invade Canada. Though the liberals would say, “No war for maple syrup!”

Who knew Keith Olbermann posted his special comments in the comments section of HotAir?
MadisonConservative on November 2, 2008 at 11:19 PM
AP may be sucking up to Obama because he believes that the big-eared goblin will not shut down this site after his coronation if he thinks he has a friend here. He’s wrong.
Or…it may be that AP is indifferent to the opinions of anyone because, like most atheists, that void in his life was filled with his own self-image. This delusion merits only pity.

This was a funny game but I feel sorry for Sarah Palin about her ignorance. It says a lot about her poor knowledge outside America.
To have fun is Quebec’s specialty. Making fun of it’s heritage: French seriousness, English arrogance and American pride. Laughing is the best treatment for the underdog.
One thing, education is a priority in Quebec, it rates first in high school Mathematics all across Canada. It’s French culture survived 400 years of English speaking American immersion. Last night we honored the world best singer Céline Dion in Montreal.
