Video: The obligatory “Tito the Builder versus Colmes” clip

posted at 11:20 am on October 31, 2008 by Allahpundit

Without the sunglasses? Six minutes of fun-ish boilerplate. With the sunglasses? Awesome. Thus begins the grassroots movement to get the boss to wear mirror shades next time she’s on.

Hard to believe we’ll soon be putting away the campaign toys we’ve played with for so long: Tito, Joe the Plumber, Wright, Ayers, etc. It’s like “The Velveteen Rabbit,” if the rabbit was an unrepentant domestic terrorist.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Press Secretary Tito!

Dr.Cwac.Cwac on October 31, 2008 at 11:23 AM

Tito needs the shades because he’s got some kind of neurological tic that causes his right eye to blink and the right side of his mouth to twitch. He knows that the eye blinking is distracting, so he wears the shades to hide it. It may even reduce the blinking.

Oh, wait, that’s not irony – that’s the way it is; hopefully that can change.

Colmes reminds me of the liberal posters who post on this site…they get hammered, humiliated, stepped on, embarrassed, and they keep coming back for more, poor Colmes, oblivious is the word. He probably needs some kind of law to protect him from “liberal abuse” (or, there is the “fairness doctrine”).

Skeletor’s strategy is to just keep repeating his nutroots talking points. The entire program last night he must have repeated that McCain-Khalidi half a million dollar bit 50 times.

Intellectually bankrupt. The left’s strategy is to just keep repeating lies and talking over people.

Actually Tito said he needed the shades to protect his eye from an injury…something a liberal could not understand, someone working and getting injured doing actual work, you know with his hands, work, as in I have to work to make a living, sometimes you get hurt actually working, that’s right people really work, hello Colmes, it is true, some people do work…never mind, a liberal just can’t understand WORK.

right2bright on October 31, 2008 at 11:38 AM

I find it interesting that guys like Joe and Tito demographically seem like they should be Obama voters, yet wholeheartedly support conservative principles. They are out stomping for John McCain. And yet, does Obama have any “real” people stomping for him? Those people in his infomercial, have they been out on the stump pushing their guy? So who really represents the “common man” in this election?

JammieWearingFool on October 31, 2008 at 11:38 AM

I am glad you brought that up. I am so tired of that stupid line. Here are some facts.
First their were 7 founders, and 7 more on the board for a total of 14 that received that grant. Khalidi was one of 14 on a board for an organization, not started by him, but he was part of the group. It was for a policy investigation concerning free election for the Palestinians.
They got rid of him after a little over one year, to this day McCain’s group is still giving them money. The outreach has now extended to Afghan and other regions where Palestinians have a presence. Khalidi has no influence now or in the recent past to this group…he is persona non grata.
Khalidi was 1 of 14, Colmes and others are allowed to spew their distortions.

VikingGoneWild on October 31, 2008 at 12:06 PM

He was very funny and really nailed it with his comment about Obama’s plan only gives crumbs to the little people.

ImRight on October 31, 2008 at 11:24 AM

He’s right too! Yesterday I went to both McCain and Obama websites and applied my personal situation to their tax plans and health care plans and as a result under Obama I would get a $500 cut from my AGI and under McCain I would get a up to $5000 credit on my personal health insurance and be able to bank the rest in a individual health account tax free.

I don’t think that very many people in the 55% that do pay tax in Obama 95% targeted for tax cuts understand that they really aren’t going to get much out of it. And it looks to me that some of what Obama touts and change is already in the tax code, but you’d have to do your own taxes to know that.

One more thing, Obama has this proposal to give small business a $1000 credit for 2 years for each job they create, but he will require that business to provide for that employees heath care, so the $1000 really just goes to off set that cost, but in 2 years thats terminated so what will happen is the employer will hire the replacement employee at the 2 year point and get the credit for 2 years and they fire the old employee so they don’t have to carry the additional cost of insurance. This is exactly how the old JOBS program used to work and this is how a lot of fed grants work, the grant pays the salary for a year then the business has to pick it up, but they don’t they fire the person.

Oh yeah … take a look at Obama example on his tax plan graph of the age of that senior widow who he says will pay reduced tax.. the age is 70! Is that his plan to say SS? Raise the bottom age to 70?

Mcguyver on October 31, 2008 at 12:21 PM

“Hannity taking credit”

Relistened to the tape.

Hannity referenced aloud the news copy in his hands without saying that he discovered it.

Hannity has his bio litany down and always repeats it before making a statement so that his critics can’t claim that Hannity doesn’t know what being poor is like. We all tire of hearing litany. Give the guy a break; the habit transfers from religious response. His point was that Obama demeans and insults laborers, and Tito nailed Obama for mocking those who work hard for a legitimate living.

BTW, Hannity is not my favorite radio personality. But I like the good works that Hannity does for our military families and the leadership he takes in making certain that whether popular or not the truth gets “out there”. Catching the opening or at least the closing of his show is usually enough, though he “only” asks for 3 hours a day.

maverick muse on October 31, 2008 at 12:33 PM

OK… I love Tito. Awesomely awesome. Even more awesome than Joe the Plumber.

He’s a quick guy — speaking from the heart and gut. He owned that interview! Sean wasn’t really needed on this segment… often he’s needed to get the “says you” stuff that Colmes gets started with guests like Tito (folks who are not political insiders or pundits), but he wasn’t needed. Tito rolled over Colmes.

I loathe Colmes — he’s a soul-less black hole of stupidity — but I will give him credit for taking the glasses comment in the right spirit.

The most important part of the tape for me was Hannity’s implied warning to Tito–your life is probably about to suck. Just as Joe got hosed Tito will probably be next.

I am still amazed how little, and I mean non existent, outrage there is about the Orwellian snooping by public servants, approved by the Governor of Ohio, with almost gestapo/Stasi overtones surrounding Joe the plumber.

Tito, consider yourself warned. Think about it folks, public servants sitting at home can, on a political whim, go back to their office and ruin your life.

We’re f’ked.
