Video: Obama supporter hails the bringer of all good things

posted at 1:05 pm on October 31, 2008 by Allahpundit

Can you blame her? Run through Tapper’s litany of The One’s campaign pledges. Not only is there nothing he can’t do, there’s nothing he hasn’t promised to do, healing the planet included. Barry O’s spent 18 months building himself a halo, shrewdly enough to put him on the brink of the presidency but with one little catch: With expectations among his cultists this high, there’s only one direction for his approval ratings to go.

Which means it’s time for that halo to come off.

Barack Obama’s senior advisers have drawn up plans to lower expectations for his presidency if he wins next week’s election, amid concerns that many of his euphoric supporters are harbouring unrealistic hopes of what he can achieve.

The sudden financial crisis and the prospect of a deep and painful recession have increased the urgency inside the Obama team to bring people down to earth, after a campaign in which his soaring rhetoric and promises of “hope” and “change” are now confronted with the reality of a stricken economy.

One senior adviser told The Times that the first few weeks of the transition, immediately after the election, were critical, “so there’s not a vast mood swing from exhilaration and euphoria to despair”.

The media will make sure his grace period runs longer than usual, but we’ll know things have started to turn when Andrew Sullivan starts accusing him of having betrayed his, er, “true conservative” principles. Figure late summer/early fall 2009.

In one sense, what we are witnessing among significant numbers of blacks today, this “Peggy” dolt included, is perhaps slavery’s most profound legacy of failure.

LimeyGeek on October 31, 2008 at 1:38 PM

It’s not just blacks. I have relatives that live off the dole. They don’t care much for it when I tell them they wouldn’t steal from me but are perfectly happy to let the government do it for them.

Apparently a recent poll shows that only 65% of African-Americans in Missouri are going to vote for Barry.

Give me a break. I personally don’t care about the color of her skin or her candidate’s – except that his is Communist Red.

Actually, if we were a bunch of racist liberals – we’d have seconded her motion and felt all guilty that the poor soul is not getting enough welfare to cover her gas and mortgage.

No, instead we bemoan the fact that a grown woman, who most likely was born and raised an American, is willing to forgo her own liberty, her own ability to achieve for herself, her own desire for self-direction – for a handout.

That’s not racist Neal. It’s observation and a tinge of disgust.

kybowexar on October 31, 2008 at 1:44 PM

In a world that made sense (or at least one where the media did its job), this story wouldn’t be about “lowering the expectations of Obama supporters,” it would be about a pol making campaign promises he couldn’t possibly keep. The MSM never called Obama on these promises while they were happening, and now they’re essentially spinning it just the way the Obama camp wants them to (i.e., the economy is a wreck, people have unrealistic expectations…).

Journalism is dead.

I’m assuming they are voting for either McCain or someone else. Rush mentioned it, so I’ll have to see if I can find it. I think they took likely voters, but again it was just mentioned on Rush.

This attitude shouldn’t surprise anyone who watches the Democrats. I watched their town hall and YouTube primary debates and their “regular people” that spoke before prime time at their conventions. It’s nothing but a bunch of people that say “my life sucks, what are you going to do to help me out?” I understand the Obama Infomercial was more of the same. I haven’t seen this much promised from the government since Homer Simpson ran for Commissioner of Sanitation in Springfield:

Embrace the term in order to ridicule it. The left is very good at doing that. She how they mocklingly use the “terrorist” label since 9/11. However you deflect it, just don’t become defensive about it. It means nothing anymore.

Let them overplay the weak charge until it totally becomes the hollow argument it was made into years ago. Let it become the retort of the immature, simple minded.

I agree 100 percent. As a conservative I’ll never shake the “racist” charge, even if it means I believe that Americans of all races are equally capable of (and responsible for) living their own lives.

And speaking of expectations, I encountered a lot of young/first-time voters today, and there’s very much the feeling that “I’m owed a victory because I stood in line for so long to vote.” A lot of young people especially seem to be unfamiliar with the idea that your candidate could lose even though you went to the trouble to vote for him.

Ah yes. Dear sweet sexy Barack Hussein Obama and his legion of yearning admirers. They look him in the eyes with apprehensive wanton lust, but know not why. He can sense their apprehension. He gives them champagne and whispers sweet nothings to them. His adoring, lusting fans draw closer. Barack lights some candles. He puts on a Barry White album at just the perfect volume. He turns down the lights, and displays for them shiny, sparkley gifts that he intends to give them, some day, if only they will let him have his way with them.

He gently moves in closer and stands before them in all his glory.

He gently reaches forward and touches their cheek with the back of his hand. They look back at him with eyes filled with hope. He looks at them reassuringly and promises them that he won’t hurt them. They smile and begin to relax. Their hearts begin to beat a little faster as Barack strokes their minds with images of hope and words of promise.

He reaches up slowly and slides his hand across their cheek to the nape of their neck. He slowly and gently slides his fingers through their hair. He leans forward and whispers in their ear, “I know you want me. I give you hope. The United States is the greatest country in the world. Help me change that. Won’t you?” A shiver runs down their spines. They swoon as his warm breath and his promises caress their ears.

He slowly slides his hands over their shoulders and to their backs. He embraces them in his warm and glowing aura. He leans forward, every so gently, and kisses them oh so softly. They kiss him back. His words, the music, the mood lighting, the whole atmosphere… it is perfect. Why, it’s almost as though the high priced magic makers of Hollywood have created the mood and the room, just for them, and them alone. A mad burst of passion finally grips them. They throw caution to the wind. They decide to give themselves to him. Yet, they still do not know why.

Barack strokes them and touches them and caresses them all over as their bodies intertwine. Their bodies bump and grind. They kiss passionately. Barack rips off their clothes and swiftly, but gently, lowers them down onto the bear skin rug laid out on the the thickly padded berber carpeted floor in front of the flickering flames of the fireplace.

Barack grinds his body into theirs. He whispers sweet nothings in their ears. They gasp, “Yes yes YES”, as they gyrate and grind into each other. The sweat begins to bead all over their bodies. The breathing is hard. The expectations are high. It is time. He swiftly and gently, slips inside. He pumps and bumps and thrusts and grinds bringing all his adoring fans to the brink of euphoria and magnificent splendor… then he promptly pulls out and leaves.

Yup. That about covers it.

Check this one out:

A $1,000 “Making Work Pay” Tax Credit. For 95 percent of workers and their families—150 million workers overall—the “Making Work Pay” credit will provide a refundable tax cut of $500 for workers or $1,000 for working couples. This credit will benefit over 15 million self employed workers and for 10 million low-income Americans, will completely eliminate their federal income taxes.

So all those that are retired on a pension but not SS yet and those seniors on SS who pay tax will not be “workers”. And how far up the pay scale do you have to be for the $500/1000 to eliminate the fed tax? Most self-employed small business don’t draw a salary. So this will move the 40% of those who don’t pay to the 50% target?

Well, you are 1/2 right – if you pay OFF your mortgage, there isn’t any interest to deduct. You still can deduct property taxes, though, if it’s paid off.

Speak from experience. We got hammered with taxes when we paid off our house years ago until we took out a home equity loan to do some remodeling, therefore, back to paying interest, and a deduction.

Is that what Obama campaigners are spreading door-to-door in certain parts of America? Are low income, low educated Blacks being led to believe that when Obama comes into office they will each get a free golden ticket to Obama-style wealth and prosperity?

If so there is going be some very disappointed and very angry voters.

The thought occurs that once upon a time, black people in America *did* have massah’s who provided their transportation and housing for free. It was called slavery and we’ve been given to believe that black people did not enjoy being slaves. Indeed, thousands of white people gave their lives in a bloody war so that black people could be responsible for providing their *own* gas and mortgage payments, and not be beholden to an owner/master any more.

So really, what the lady in this video is saying is that not only does she want someone to give her gas and a mortgage payment for free but she doesn’t want to work for it, either on her own time or as a slave.

We really need to get the grounds rules straight what with all this “change” going on.

I’m watching “Its the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” with the kids before we go out trick-or-treating tonight. We just got to the part where Snoopy rises up as the Great Pumpkin. Sally’s “I was lied to…” speech fits perfectly the realization that most of Obama’s voters are going to come to on January 21, 2009, if he is elected.

Kevin71 on October 31, 2008 at 5:44 PM

I could have gone to tricks-or-treats! Halloween is over and I missed it! Instead, I spend the night on a pumpkin patch and all that came was a beagle! You blockhead! I could have had apples and gum, and cookies and money and other things! I’ll sue! Trick-or-treats only come once a year, and instead I spent all night sitting in a pumpkin patch! What a fool I was! You owe me restitution!
