Go to Schulenburg, Texas to the Oakridge Smokehouse. Great food and the Shiner Brewery is right down the road.

Join the NRA and go to a gun range. Hell, you can even rent full auto weapons at a range. You’ll meet plenty of ‘real’ Texans. We look like Brits but BBQ a hell of a lot better.

I almost can’t believe I have done it. Anything less of a threat to America than 0bama could not have made me do it. I still don’t think that it will be a good thing in the long run, but I just can’t let that marxist con man and his vapid supporters win.

If we should pull this one out, and maybe even pick up some House seats though, please don’t think we have it made. The next four years will be a constant challenge to keep America strong.

…the family and I lived in Cambridgeshire for three years, and twee stuff sends us into clouds of fond memories…we’re anglophiles with a capital “phile”…still….

…wanna meet real Texans? Come to South Texas…get out of he cities…Waco’s also nice…Fred’burg is excellent, if touristy….

…come to the Institute of Texas Cultures expo, San Antonio every year, first weekend in June I think…lots of kitch, but some nice folks…hot, though….

…check out the triangle of small towns between Austin, San Antonio and College Station…big area, but lots of great little places…try out La Grange…very pretty place….

…keep an eye in the paper in spring and early summer for some of the little town fairs and stuff…Luling Watermelon Thump, Poteet Strawberry Festival (9 miles from my house)…that sort of thing….

…but, whatever you do, get out of Austin…or, at least, range out from Austin….

Well this fat lady here is singing A Cappella at the top of her lungs right now. GO SARAH, GO JOHN!!!!!!!!!

We’ve been handed a crap sandwich of a candidate. If it wasn’t for his VP pick of Sarah Palin, I would have just yawned and pulled the lever for just about anyone, but Obama. But you are right, I wonder if other socialist and communist party candidates are going to vote Obama?

Yes, but my family lives in CA and I want big Repub turnout to pass initiative 8 to make marriage between man and woman a constitutional amendment. I’m from the SF Bay Area and the people their are nuts. I only visit there now.

Ughh… Manly, I live here now (Austin, Texas) and have a decidedly prickly relationship with my fellow (not for long) Brits.

…should you get homesick, come down to San Antonio…there’s a Brit-themed shop, with stuff like biscuits, teas and videos of shows there (UK PAL and NTSC, I think)…touristy, but some good stuff…and a place called the “Lion and Rose Pub”…as touristy as the shop is, I suspect, but not bad, I hear….

McCain will win Cahleeforniya.

Agreed – heard Mark Levin briefly tonight, and he did a great job of getting the word out on this, going over & over the point, almost steeling folks for the avalanche of B.S. he presumes (rightly IMHO) is about to be unloaded on all of us: “it’s over, go home, no need to come out & vote, what a landslide in the making…”

Sure.

Iowa… Arizona… Obama’s turning up everywhere, it seems, just to rub in his enormous “landslide”.

I predict a closer race than expected. McCain may not get it all here in CA, but I think he’s gonna make The Messiah wet his knickers!

MrScribbler, I’m from the OC and my husband grew up in East L.A., where his parents and some siblings still live. Except for my DH, they are all conservative Democrats who would have supported Hillary but refuse to support Obama. They really relate to Palin and will vote for McCain.

My DH is all too aware of inner city racial tensions and, given the demographics in California, predicted that McCain will do much better than expected and Obama much worse.
