I knew a guy just like you once, except he was just slightly more arrogant. He croaked at the ripe old age of 47, from an artery weakness problem that plagued other members of his family. He died while skiing. He was not quite as healthy as he thought he was. I admit, he did look real good in that coffin, best looking corpse I ever saw.

Anyone consider the possibility that the informercial on all major channels was merely a way to slush money back to the networks who are needed to do heavy lifting for Obama through election day?

I would not call it a flop.

I call it payback

Obama is the politician who took enough hard left positions early in his career to cement his position with the hard left. Then, he stayed in the background pretending to be all things to all people

I imagine his prime time slots helped the sliding networks with the bottom line. His enormous campaign fund goes mainly to purchase media, or as entagor says, it goes to buy media.

Clever, what?

Since Obama has made a strategy of presnting a decaying America as part of his push for 'change', a decaying Aerica was his theme. If the public did not change their opinions, Obama did quite well. His real target was the networks

His handlers know how to move money in, and out, a magical shell game before your very eyes, somewhat legal and authentically nasty

I do not think Obama would give any hard solutions withing days of the election when the smallest facts are already killing him

A wise person recently posted the possibility that the European tour, bigger than his American tour, which sucked up to Europeans at the expense of Americans, was merely a fund raiser for a campaign that had figured out pre paid VISAs and unautheticated charges could expand his fund raising boundaries beyond our borders

Oh for the days fo the Clintons. We did not know what we had back then. The Clintons ran as Americans

Well, given the supposed polling boost (2%), I would say the money was well spent. Although I personally would have aired it on the evening of November 3, given the short lived nature of these polling boosts.

And I'd say that a 21-22% share (1 in five viewers) was good, even if spread across a number of channels. It's how many you reached, not now many ways you tried to reach them. And given that Obama has money to burn right now...

Well, my son came home yesterday and told me that his Government and Economics teacher forced the class to watch Obama's infomercial. The guy is a die hard Obama supporter and is continually praising Obama and criticizing McCain.
that was it for me,, I called and talked to him today over his lunch. I was respectful but firm,,, I ask if he had shown any of McCain's campaign commercials. He said "No, but that was because McCain hasn't aired any 30 minute ones." Well, I let the guy know exactly where I was coming from,,, I told him that McCain certainly has been making commercials and he could find them all over YouTube,,, they're only about 30 seconds long and he could easily fit 20 or more in a 30 minute period. I explained further my concern when a teacher decides to play a campaign commercial for a particular candidate, especially a 30 minute one, to his students without giving the other side. I explained that any story sounds good until you hear the other side. I told him I didn't care what his political persuasion was, but those students are a captive audience and they have choice about being there. he got a little defensive and said he always tries to give the other side,, and stated he told the kids that Obama was able to do this commercial because "Obama was getting so many more donations ,, well over McCain, that McCain wasn't getting as many donations, Obama had a lot more money to spend"
After saying a quiet "Thank you God." I told him I was glad he brought that up. I asked if he had bothered to mention to his students the controversy surrounding a lot of those donations,, the foreign money trails, the fraudulent credit card donations, etc,, and of course,, he said "No."
Well, I posted long here,, I spent a good 10 minutes educating this guy,,,, He was a little defensive,, I think mostly he was in shock that a parent would find this unacceptable. I ended with telling him my son respected him, likes the class and that I know he has thus far been getting a good grade. (just to let him know I knew where my son's grade level was up until this phone call)
I would not be surprised if this has happened in other cassrooms.

Typho:

I think Obama is an unprincipled liar trying to buy the White House and I absolutely refuse to even watch his crappy ads much less his silly infomercial.

As for the polls, lets and wait and see what actually happens in the election. I am not saying Obama won't win, but if he does it is because he is a liar and a fraud. Once reality hits home we shall see how much the people like the Messiah.

and, might I add, he got those numbers appearing right before the world series game. Which means we should be looking at the number of viewers for the world series as well and deduct those or half them for the "interest" value as opposed to people who might have just had it on the channel because they were unaware the game was delayed and left it there.

Then there is the TIVO factor. Imagine how many people were TIVO'ing the world series and ended up with the first 30 minutes being Obama (and now they are cursing him).

I’m sorry if this sounds calloused, but I’m a 25 year-old that doesn’t smoke, eats well, and exercises several times a week. Had you taken better care of yourself, you wouldn’t have had a heart attack in the first place, and surely wouldn’t have needed a stent to prop open that artery that you clogged up by eating all that garbage food that you knew was bad for you.

Being unhealthy isn’t something anyone should feel sorry for you about. Get off your ass and exercise, stop making my insurance premiums go up.

Um....

Three of the biggest preventable health problems are

1. Alcoholism-Do you advocate prohibition? or are you more inclined to go "Islamic" on those who drink, even in moderation?

2. Drug Abuse-Perhaps it would save all of us billions of dollars every year if we just flat out execute anyone using drugs that are not prescribed to them by a doctor or those "recreational drugs". You are aware of the fact that smoking Marijuana is much more damaging to the lungs then tobacco smoke, right? And don't give me that "people don't smoke pot all the time like cigarette smokers-I have seen too many who do to know better.

3. STD's and AIDS-I am sure you would agree that these cost billions of dollars to treat yearly and they would be so easy to stop. So I am sure you would agree that anyone who is having sex outside the bonds of marriage should be denied all medical attention, especially those who engage in sodomy which is one of the primary ways to transmit AIDS.

Oh, let us not forget those who injure themselves participating in sports. Sports injuries cost our insurance companies millions every year-from broken bones to torn ACL's to stitches and broken teeth to tennis elbow etc. I am sure you would agree that this kind of risky behavior should not be covered by insurance. These people chose to do something that injured themselves, they should pay for it out of their own pocket.

Another thing. Vegetarianism. In the department I work in the person who has been the sickest and has cost our health insurance the most is our resident Vegetarian. In fact he had to be taken to the emergency room and given over 100 pints of blood because of massive internal bleeding. Why was he bleeding internally? Because his diet had so little iron in it his blood started to break down. Why should I have to pay higher premiums for him to eat his "healthy diet", hmmmm?

I’m sorry if this sounds calloused, but I’m a 25 year-old that doesn’t smoke, eats well, and exercises several times a week. Had you taken better care of yourself, you wouldn’t have had a heart attack in the first place, and surely wouldn’t have needed a stent to prop open that artery that you clogged up by eating all that garbage food that you knew was bad for you.

Being unhealthy isn’t something anyone should feel sorry for you about. Get off your ass and exercise, stop making my insurance premiums go up.

I eat what I want when I want in moderation. The only thing I avoid are the processed things with nitrites and nitrates... otherwise, as long as I stay active I'm fine. That pyramid is a canard . I'm an avowed carnivore and have excellent cholesterol, triglycerides and BP.

First, smart ass, I don’t eat things that clog my arteries

If you are eating the politically correct things from the so called food pyramid written by none other than our government at the behest of grain growers, you might very well be eating the very substances that clog your arteries and are starving yourself of the real nutrients you need.

I've found a line of reasoning that actually gets through to some bone head liberals. I get them talking about how corrupt and dangerous Chicago is. I point out that statistically you are safer in Baghdad than you are in Chicago. Then I simply ask them how much better off Chicago is having had Mr. Hope and Change around. I ask them "If he can't even fix his home town, how is he going to fix an entire country?".

Gets 'em every time.

It was interesting to note that the people Obama profiled would be better off with McCain's policies than Obama's. The McCain camp should have issued a response.
