New RNC ad: “Stooges”

posted at 1:55 pm on October 31, 2008 by Allahpundit

Has there ever been a final-week ad more attuned to the sensibilities of low-information, late-deciding “persuadables” than this? It’s an arrow aimed straight at the heart of idgit voters everywhere!

Isn’t Sandler a Republican? We should get him to reprise his Waterboy role for one last ad on Monday. “Mama says you shoud votes for McCain.”

That’s an insult to Larry, Curley and Moe!

But I likes it!

Tony737 on October 31, 2008 at 1:57 PM

Freakin’ Fantastic!

The Stooges, Yah

Hening on October 31, 2008 at 1:57 PM

Judge rules that Obama cant be thrown off of Ohio ballot due to birth certificate

The 3 stooges were lovable. Not like the 3 clowns from the movie “It” above.

William Amos on October 31, 2008 at 1:59 PM

To paraphrase Meatloaf …

“When it comes to politics,
there’s something you should know,
the three men I admire most,
are Larry Curley Moe”

Tony737 on October 31, 2008 at 1:59 PM

That ad is racist….

lol.

Chudi on October 31, 2008 at 2:00 PM

Dumb. I hope nobody paid for that.

Labamigo on October 31, 2008 at 2:00 PM

Hey Larry! Hey Moe! It BIT me!

CyberCipher on October 31, 2008 at 2:00 PM

Oh! A wise guy!

Right_of_Attila on October 31, 2008 at 2:00 PM

Okay, I almost ….. almost mind you…. think this is a bit much….

Thankfully, I am able to get over it.

I love the Stooges and think they would actually do a better job than the three would could get!

All but Moe, I believe died broke. Sort of ironic, eh?

kybowexar on October 31, 2008 at 2:00 PM

Now all we need is a bit O Marx Brothers… staring Obama..

Wait… Marx Brothers… how… appropriate…

Hail Hail Freedonia!

/channels Groucho..

Thats about the silliest thing I evah heard…

Romeo13 on October 31, 2008 at 2:01 PM

Women generally don’t like the Stooges.

We need swing voter independants…especially females.

Thus, IMHO, it’s a bad ad. It’s infantile and reaches the wrong demographic.

It needed a fart gag

LimeyGeek on October 31, 2008 at 2:01 PM

Romeo13 – that’s hilarious!

Yes bring on the Marx brothers. Too perfect!

kybowexar on October 31, 2008 at 2:02 PM

The Stooges always make me smile. The originals, not Pelosireidobama.

Nethicus on October 31, 2008 at 2:04 PM

We knew that the idgit vote would be key.

lorien1973 on October 31, 2008 at 2:04 PM

Throw in Abbott and Costello’s math gag to explain the Obammunist tax plan (from the Navy episode) … then Laurel and Hardy “This is another fine mess you’re gotten us into.”

Tony737 on October 31, 2008 at 2:05 PM

anyone voting for Adolph Obama is already and IDGIT!

SDarchitect on October 31, 2008 at 2:05 PM

Good thing they’re dead, or the stooges would respond like every other celebrity and demand that ad be taken off the air.

Scathing condemnation from Moe III in 3, 2, 1…

jimmy the notable on October 31, 2008 at 2:06 PM

Now all we need is a bit O Marx Brothers… staring Obama..

DO IT!!!

Off topic: Gas is down to $2.19 a gallon! WOOO HOOOOOO!! thank you Mr. Bush! (It’s his fault when gas prices go UP, right?)

Tony737 on October 31, 2008 at 2:07 PM

This ad tries to tie The Chosen One with these two white people is racist.

That ad made me smile… :^)

CliffHanger on October 31, 2008 at 2:12 PM

“Has there ever been a final-week ad more attuned to the sensibilities of low-information, late-deciding “persuadables” than this? It’s an arrow aimed straight at the heart of idgit voters everywhere!”
Here we go again…high brow bashing of low-brow commentary. As a Stooges fan (and a college grad), I found the ad entertaining and accurate. Should all admakers ask for approval before they release their wares? Besides, there are idgits out there and if they change their mind according to this ad, what’s the big deal? The basis for the ad is correct; let’s not lose our sense of humor, assuming there was one to begin with.

Christine on October 31, 2008 at 2:12 PM

Now we need the updated ad with O/P/R’s heads tacked onto the Stooges!

Mr_Magoo on October 31, 2008 at 2:12 PM

There is something magical that happens when Moe has a pic axe in his hands – hilarity ensues.

This country has sure gone crazy!

dmann on October 31, 2008 at 2:23 PM

Wow. Not really likely to persuade any undecideds, I’d guess.

And this one really is cut for a 30-second TV spot.

*sigh*

Perhaps there’s a market where they need to get out the vote, or bring Republicans back to supporting an unpopular senator or congressman?

This is the kind of ad that *ought* to be a web release to fire up the “nutroots” or whatever…

ClintACK on October 31, 2008 at 2:25 PM

Funny stuff.

Mojave Mark on October 31, 2008 at 2:26 PM

Definately racist.

Rode Werk on October 31, 2008 at 2:26 PM

I remember the skit where they were fishing
and they started to wave the white flag, and
realized there was a red dot in the middle!

And unfortunately a US warplane was patrolling
and opened fire,LMAO!

Any chance of putting Reid,Pelosi,Hopey in a
fishing trawler parked in the Hormuz Straight,
butta boom,butta bing!

right2bright on October 31, 2008 at 2:32 PM

They should’ve used Joe Besser instead of Curley.

steveegg on October 31, 2008 at 2:36 PM

Oh Soitenly….
I grew up watching the Stooges… I’d trust them alot more at running our Country..

Fires1 on October 31, 2008 at 2:38 PM

Christine on October 31, 2008 at 2:12 PM

You see, you get it…it is not the content so much as the way it is packaged.
They didn’t try to be pretentious, they (the ad creators) understand your intellect and know you will discern what is depicted, that is a few loons running around making policy.
This is the “anti-elitism” ad that drives the elites crazy. They don’t have a funny bone…
The irony is, as elitist and intelligent they think they are, the real intellect will get this ad, and laugh…and in the final days we need a laugh.
This ad is a winner, funny is in the timing, and the timing is perfect…yuk, yuk, yuk, what are you a wise guy?

right2bright on October 31, 2008 at 2:38 PM

Wasn’t the guy who played Moe an avowed communist?

I dunno, but he was their unqualified leader, he was an arrogant bully, & he was a smoker, so there are similarities.

jgapinoy on October 31, 2008 at 2:39 PM

“Mama says you shoud votes for McCain.”

You left off “She says Obama is the devil.”

skatz51 on October 31, 2008 at 2:42 PM

this is an INSULT to the real stooges…they couldn’t have been as stupid as the current crop of dems..

I’d like to see Moe poke Putin in the eyes…

right4life on October 31, 2008 at 2:45 PM

Larry, Moe, and Curly would do a much better job than the Three Dopes.

I love old movies…charlie chan..cary grant…john wayne…and of course the friends of mr. cairo…bogey and the fat man…

right4life on October 31, 2008 at 2:48 PM

Loved it! Finally a good RNC ad!

My guess is that most of the ‘undecideds’ are people without a clue. You know, the ones who can’t name the Vice President or the Secretary of State, and think maybe ’57 states’ is a good guess. They may not know who Reid and Pelosi are, but the idea that Obambi is like one of the Three Stooges might stick in some corner of their tiny brains.

MrLynn on October 31, 2008 at 2:50 PM

Too bad he already has the idgit vote locked up.
