Video: Czech PM “takes questions” from the media

posted at 6:27 pm on October 30, 2008 by Allahpundit

They descended on him while he was out pushing his kid in a stroller. Compare and contrast the reaction with the ‘Cuda’s graciousness even during the height of Trig Truther insanity.

He does not, shall we say, possess a “first-class temperament.”

We used to call them Czechs, back when it was Czechoslovakia. Shouldn’t we call them something even shorter, now? And why do they get to pronounce “cz” as ‘ch’? What’s up with that?

I liked the side-wheelie with the baby carriage.

Wow. Popping a Paparatzi magically makes them get out of your face. Imagine that. He didn’t just back off. He disappeared.

I think a few of our journalists might need their heads bounced of a wall a couple times too. They abuse the very freedoms they enjoy to the point where they endanger them.

Doesn’t he have security that can do things like that for him? And good job almost losing your baby onto the sidewalk, moron.

They really don’t seem to waste much money on security for the PM, there.

This begs for a new Poll:

If you could pick one asshole for Sarah to kick in the groin (I know some women are on the list) on YouTube who would it be:

1) Olberman
2) Obama
3) Biden
4) Mathews
5) Noonan
6) Brooks
7) Buckley
8) Allahpundit
9) Osama Bin Laden
10) Dowd
11) Bill Maher
12) David Axelrod

I would have to say Olby would be the sweetest, but there are so many including ones not listed.

Suggestions?

They also seem to be flying in the face of all free-market logic. They have a public transport system that is second to none. Trams are every 5 minutes, metro every 10 minutes, buses every 10 minutes. You can go anywhere on them within 24hrs for just $5.

Information for everybody to share:

Sources: Sarkozy views Obama stance on Iran as ‘utterly immature’

French President Nicolas Sarkozy is very critical of U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama’s positions on Iran, according to reports that have reached Israel’s government.

Sarkozy has made his criticisms only in closed forums in France. But according to a senior Israeli government source, the reports reaching Israel indicate that Sarkozy views the Democratic candidate’s stance on Iran as “utterly immature” and comprised of “formulations empty of all content.”

I like calling them Bohemians, but I tend towards Romanticism about the past.

thuja on October 30, 2008 at 7:58 PM

I don’t blame the PM. I’m sick of the idea that some groups of people have a right to unlimited rudeness to which other groups aren’t allowed to take offense.

I’ve always been a mild-mannered, but I had a jailbird friend for a while (until he went back to jail) and he would confront a**holes. It amused the hell of out of me to see jerks get what they deserve. Of course, most confrontational jailbirds aren’t on the side of the angels.

…I used to speak Czech, but the audio is bad, and the Prague dialect is to Czech what Puertorican is to Spanish….

…he’s saying something to the guy he’s punching in the familiar voice (tu, as opposed to vous, for you Francophones out there)…as you would either speak to a child…I remember hearing that Czechs would go from familiar to formal when they wanted to slam you, but not in this guy’s case…it’s sort of a “yo, homeboy, what the **** do you think you’re doin’?!”, whatever the actual words or idioms might be….

…but, c’mon, which of us, stroller tipping or no, hasn’t wanted to sock a reporter at least once in his or her life?

…hell…I’d consider hitting him with the kid…kids are resiliant….

We used to call them Czechs, back when it was Czechoslovakia. Shouldn’t we call them something even shorter, now? And why do they get to pronounce “cz” as ‘ch’? What’s up with that?

progressoverpeace on October 30, 2008 at 6:32 PM

A. Czechoslovakia (as was) was made up of three regions. There was C’ech (Bohemia), Morava (Moravia), and Slovensko (Slovakia). When Czechoslovakia broke up, it was a matter of what we call Slovakia — long the rural, backcountry part of the nation, which spoke a dialect that became a language — breaking off to become it’s own republic, leaving what we call Moravia (the central bit) and Bohemia (what they themselves call C’ech) staying to be the Czech Republic. C’ech (spelled with a little “V” over the “C”, called a “hac’ek”, making a “CH” sound) is what they call the state, and they’re “c’echy”, pronounced “chechy”, the second “CH” sounding like the “CH” in the scottish “loch”.

B. The “CZ” comes, actually, from the Polish, because that’s how Poles express our English “CH” sound. The Germans spell it “Tschech”. The actually have a distinct letter for it, and use it…and, as we don’t use that same letter (and I checked three different ASCII character lists and didn’t find it, although you can set your keyboard up to type it). Failing that, with an English keyboard (going back to typewriter days), you can express that sound by typing “C’” to express that sound.

…finally, most Europeans, west and central and north and south, are fashionably anti-American in places…what Prague’s becoming known for, for better or worse, is that it’s becoming the porno capital of Europe….

Puritan1648 on October 30, 2008 at 10:08 PM

Video: Czech PM “takes questions” from the media

“You wanna press conference? Let me “press” your nosy head against the wall!”

jgapinoy on October 30, 2008 at 10:09 PM

…after all of that, check out this about the hac’ek on Wikipedia, explaining its use in Czech and whatever other bloody languages which use it.

…now, I’ll curl back up and sleep ’til morning…nasledanou….
