Obama already raising money for presidential transition, hiring for cabinet positions

I offer this in the same spirit that coaches use guarantees of victory by the other team to motivate their players. Consider it tacked up to our collective locker-room bulletin board.
Now get out there and win.
The Obama campaign has opened a new fund-raising front, I’ve learned, creating a nonprofit entity to bankroll Barack Obama’s presidential transition operation, quietly in business for months.
The organization is called the “Obama Transition Project.” The money is being raised from individual donors — no Internet, direct mail or events — with a $5,000 donation cap. Under self-imposed rules, lobbyists will not be allowed to contribute.
Though Obama has raised more than $600 million for his White House bid, legally it is for the election only. The first disclosure report does not have to be filed until Nov. 15.
The likely first draft pick of the Golden Age: Rahm Emanuel as chief of staff, which makes sense insofar as he’s a Chicago crony and the architect as DCCC chair of the Dems’ House sweep two years ago. Daschle had been touted for that position, but he’s been away from the Hill for awhile and doesn’t have Emanuel’s reputation as manager, and it sounds like he’s more interested in HHS anyway.
Exit question: Mr. Cool and Captain F-Bomb, joined at the hip for four years? Really?

Too bad it is a waste of money. Barack Obama is a very arrogant man.

I don’t know if I’ve ever said this specifically on here, but whenever Obama’s team does stuff like this to me it shows a bit of panic. It’s like they have to put on a front to make it seem like everything is going great, when at the same time there is evidence pointing to the opposite (ex. polls tightening pretty much across the board, national and state polls).

McCain is an American Hero, but Obama cannot seem to respect this fact. I remember that Bill Clinton started each of his two presidential terms with speechs where he started with a story about a courageous war hero. In 1992, it was the story about Bush surving his crash as a fly boy; in 1996, it was about Dole surviving his injuries. Each time I was impressed at Clinton’s placement of his adversary at the front of each speech. And the story was told with great effect, the way Clinton can tell a story. It was a classy move. Somehow, I doubt that Obama will be able to do the same thing for McCain. He will acknowlege his status as a war hero, but he will not tell the story with the conviction that Clinton did.

I’ve actually heard more Nader ads on the radio than I have McCain ads.
I’m here in NC and I’m getting plenty of McCain radio and TV ads. They have a great one playing that ties Obama nicely to the liberal congress. We’re officially a ’swing state’ this time around with the Gov’s seat up for grabs as well as Liddy Dole’s senate seat. It’s really been cranking up the last couple of days and I’m seeing a real GOP ground game here. Races are close, but its starting to break for the Repubs down here. Looking like we’ll get a republican gov and I’m pretty sure that Liddy Dole has started to poll above her challenger. I’m feeling GOP momentum down here so I really don’t think that NC will flip for Obama. Their even talking about the GOP picking up the state senate down here! NC is one of those weird states that historically votes Dem for state government but tends to go Repub for national offices.

Candidates are responsible for that funding. Usually it just comes out of their federal funds, though.

Smoke and mirrors is all his campaign is about, don’t fall for it. They are wielding the Demoralizing Sword of Arrogantic Proportions +5 just to make you blink and for no other reason.

I hear McCain ads quite frequently on the radio and see a few on the television. Obama’s purchased a lot of air time as well. Between the national races and the local ones, there are entire ad breaks that are nothing but political ads.
Sometimes, being in a swing state really stinks.

McCain Palin have been here several times. Liberal Iowa newspaper polls show 0Bomba up by something like 59-35.

Under normal circumstances, yes. This election is NOT normal anyway you look at it. I honestly think McCain is doing the best campaigning of which he is capable. Since these are abnormal circumstances considering what is at stake, then our only option is to grab the SOB by the seat of his pants and drag his a$$ over the Presidential finish line whether he likes it or not—for national benefit, not his benefit.
