Tina Fey: Palin offered to have her daughter babysit my kid

A lefty in the Baldwin mode: Opposed, but gracious. A useful palate cleanser as tensions mount with six days to go.

Michelle offered to have her kids take Fey’s kids to church.

Heh.

changer1701 on October 29, 2008 at 2:13 PM

At the least she’s doing the right thing for her career. Millions of people love Palin, and they are in effect Fey’s customers. I don’t know why some other entertainers don’t get that. Must be hubris due to hangers-on telling them how great they are all the time.

Anybody else having an audio problem with the clip?

That’s not the complete picture of what Fey has said about Palin’s visit to SNL.

Tina Fey also said this about Palin on “Late Night w/David Letterman”:

She’s as smart as me, and that’s not enough.

Debbie Schlussel on October 29, 2008 at 2:13 PM

That’s because Palin is actually Satan and wants to corrupt poor lil’ ol’ Tina Fey’s kids.

Obviously Tina got hold of one of my Hot Air commentaries and does not want to be on Vice-President Palin’s sh!t list.

Her offer to babysit…yes, libs, conservatives have class, manners, and consideration for others…unlike 99% of you.

If she’s smart she will vote for McPalin so she stays in demand at SNL for at least 4 years until someone else takes over. Palin can be the next James Bond.

you may have more contempt for the electorate of this country than the Republican National Committee does. And that’s a lot of contempt.

Yeah, that’s pretty gracious.

Debbie Schlussel on October 29, 2008 at 2:13 PM

Yes, but Palin got the first dig, with (paraphrase) “I always play a bubblehead when I imitate her.”

I find it funny that Palin actually impresses Hollywood to the point that they don’t want to offend her, and the entire center/left part of the Republican party thinks Palin is unqualified.

wise_man on October 29, 2008 at 2:43 PM

Part of Tina Fey’s class on Conan is because the head of a show sets the tone, and Conan is very classy. Just like the heads of Hot Air set the tone here. Ed is just awesome. Very strong. He writes posts just as I would, except better. Facts, well-composed, good narrative, continuous emotional thread. Just top notch. And AP, he’s awesome too, but kind of dark, and off-beat. A little uneven. And Michelle. She’s just really hot. So Hot Air is strong, off-beat, and really hot. And Tina Fey was respectful because Conan is respectful. The leader sets the tone.

Paul-Cincy on October 29, 2008 at 2:55 PM

Oh, and I love Sarah Palin. Without reservation.

Paul-Cincy on October 29, 2008 at 2:57 PM

It’s tough when you base all of your beliefs on emotional responses based on propaganda. I’m sure that paradigm shift must have left a scar.

Sapwolf on October 29, 2008 at 3:01 PM

I’ve always liked her and thought she was hilarious — very naturally funny, unlike many comedians.

And I have no proof, but I’m almost positive that when she said “I can’t do that for four years. I mean I’m leaving Earth,” she was talking about her career.

Between 30 Rock and SNL, she’s literally working like 120 hours a week right now.

wise_man on October 29, 2008 at 2:43 PM

There are plenty of other valid reasons to criticize her. I have never understood the need to mock physical appearence. Perhaps you could explain the value added to the McCain election effort by doing it. ??

a capella on October 29, 2008 at 3:14 PM

“She’s as smart as me and that’s not enough ”

Actually Tina she is in fact more intelligent than you despite the fact that she talks funny and does not live on the upper east side.

DeweyWins on October 29, 2008 at 3:15 PM

Perhaps that’s not my point, a capella.

wise_man on October 29, 2008 at 3:23 PM

Tina Fey thinks she’s as smart as Sarah Palin. Awwwww, cute!

Jim Treacher on October 29, 2008 at 3:40 PM

Actually, I’d wager Fey’s remarks just moved several thousand votes – maybe more – to McCain/Palin. If as many people base their votes on the casual remarks of celebrities as we think they do, little things like this have real effects in the booth.

greggriffith on October 29, 2008 at 3:44 PM

Now I’ll be bummed out if McCain/Palin loses, because McCain has shown so much character in these last few days, and leans conservative, and Sarah is just so awesome. It will be very disappointing. They both really are reformers, and they would do so much to kick Washington in the ass.

Paul-Cincy on October 29, 2008 at 3:52 PM

Debbie Schlussel on October 29, 2008 at 2:13 PM

If that were true she’d be right, but I juuuuuuuust don’t think they’re in the same league. If Palin were at sea level Tina would be in The Nautilus.

Gov. Palin offered to have her daughter babysit Ms. Fey’s?
.
That just goes to prove how out of touch Palin is. She should have offered to have her nanny babysit.
.
How can we trust Palin to be a heartbeat away from the Presidency when she doesn’t even have a nanny?

Fey is incredibly arrogant, like many showbiz liberals. She just doesn’t have a clue. Of course, that’s to be expected because she also thinks she’s funny.

JimC on October 30, 2008 at 1:18 AM

Thanks Tina for the giggle. . .Question ?
Why don’t these showbiz peeps let there own kids watch
the product they put out. I always hear these stars
talk about how they’re so protective of their own.
