Spectator to Palin: Do you support a new investigation of 9/11?

13,000+ views on YouTube and counting thanks to her surprise answer: She does indeed support it. Has the ‘Cuda gone Rosie on us? Nah. Her reasoning:
I do, cause I think that helps us get to the point of never again. Anything we can do to keep that reminder out there.
I.e., sure, because it’ll help us stay vigilant about jihadism — which of course isn’t at all what this guy has in mind. Consider this a case of a newbie not recognizing the agenda behind a question because she hasn’t been exposed to it long enough to know the code words. Note to S.P.: If anyone asks you whether you think fire can melt steel, the correct answer is, “It doesn’t have to melt it. It only has to weaken it.” Trust me.
The YouTube comments are, predictably, comedy gold. Exit quotation: “She’ll say anything guys. These are the people who Ok’d the attack for god’s sake.”

I am surprised there isn’t some stupid story like that going around. Give the truthers something to live for. People love conspiracies.

The Bush Paradox is the left’s insistance that Bush is both a total bungling idiot while at the same time being the world’s most formidable and menacing evil genius.

Next……
The commission into the economic disater perpertrated by the CAR act, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Barak Obama, and oh yeah, there she is again Jamie Gorelick…… all under oath……..

My first thought was that she did a great job turning the question around. Then I read AP’s take and I was thinking… Whaaaaa? Where does he get this stuff?
pugwriter on October 29, 2008 at 11:05 PM
Well, I am the chief enforcer of tin-foil hat wearing when it comes to those particular slime balls. For me, it is personal.
Sergeant Tim on October 29, 2008 at 11:07 PM
AP got it exactly right.
Sergeant Tim on October 29, 2008 at 11:09 PM
I am disappointed in this thread. First, it’s Allah basically calling this guy a Truther. I watched the video and nowhere did he sound like a truther.
He asked about the sick first responders, a reality that cannot rationally be denied.
If I missed something, somebody correct me.
Second, there’s this:
There was no insulation to blow off. During the construction of the towers, the plans called for the steel support beams to be coated with an asbestos paste (like a broken arm cast). But the environmentalist wackos either sued or threatened to sue because of the hazards of asbestos to the workers. They ran the problem back to the designers who concluded that a fire in the tower probably could not get hot enough to matter. So they ditched the asbestos.
When the planes hit the towers, the thousands of gallons of jet fuel proved that they had not done sufficient “what if” scenarios when deciding the asbestos issue.
Had the towers been built the way they were originally designed, it is unlikely that either one would have fallen.
So when you think of environmental activists as just harmless users of the First Amendment, think again. They have a lot more blood on their hands than the guys who club baby seals.
Anecdotal tale has it that even Osama was surprised at the towers falling. He should know – he’s got at least one American engineering degree in the construction field.
We need to stay on track if we ever expect to keep the loonies at bay.
platypus on October 29, 2008 at 11:12 PM
First, I do not endorse the burning of AP. I hope that remark is retracted if that was the intent. AP does drive me nuts over the poll fetish, but hey, what would HotAir be without AP torturing us with loon polls. This however, was noteworthy.
LOL! + 1 from me! Loved this.
And I second the Jamie Gorelick comment! Start with her regarding 9-11 and end with her at Fannie Mae! Woman should be in jail!

So, after her initial response, she asks the guy, compassionately, if he was affected by 9/11 and he went into his talking points, at which time she gracefully blows him off.
So why is this blog worthy?
pugwriter on October 29, 2008 at 11:31 PM
There’s a lot of bad info in the 9/11 Commission Report. The release of The Path to 9/11 would help clear some of it up.
Connie on October 29, 2008 at 11:36 PM
There never was any space travel, man. It was a conspiracy filmed on the same sound stage where they pretended to kill Elvis and JFK. Al Gore is Elvis. It’s the man making it happen, man.
Laura in Maryland on October 29, 2008 at 11:44 PM
It can very credibly be argued that Gorelick’s actions and decisions as Clinton’s Assistant Attorney General, specifically in her creation of the “WALL” betwen the FBI and CIA, resulted in a greatly reduced intelligence capability-one that most likely would have sniffed out the plot before it was completed.
It can also be credibly argued that she should have been questioned under oath by the 9/11 Commission. Instead, she was made a member of the Commission itself. If she had been an Assistant AG in a Republican Administration, would that have happened?
And as you all may or may not remember, during the 9/11 hearings when the evil John Ashcroft noted that the WALL was built by this member of the Commission, the Leftist college kids in the gallery shouted him down.
And remember, after she created this wall, she went to and plubered Fannie Mae. She’s obviously the one in DC with the pictures of Bill and Hillary Clinton having sex with each other.
Can’t make this stuff up, folks.
Del Dolemonte on October 29, 2008 at 11:45 PM
Perhaps it would. Yet while much of what is in the 9/11 Commission’s report has been politicized, most of what is there was written as factually as possible. There is much we can never know for we’ve killed many terrorists who could fill in blanks and knowing secrets that have since kept us safe (what works and doesn’t) we are better off not knowing. If some things were deliberately changed to conceal methods and operations, good on them.
What pi**** me off is the “truthers” peddling their conspiracy crap while speaking for me. Their wild statistic that something like 77% of family members and first responders want the investigation re-opened is pure B.S. The political hack family members, a couple profiteering survivors, and those BS’d by both those groups want it re-opened, that’s all.

Laura in Maryland on October 30, 2008 at 12:00 AM
DD, while Gorelick deserves the lion’s share of the blame for the Wall, read chapter 7 (if memory serves) about the FISA court judge who instigatigated it and the chain of command that drove her policy writing. Who I hold most responsible for the Wall is Janet Reno. I don’t have the footnote close at hand but I believe she received two reports (1999 and 2000), prior to 9/11, on its ill effects on intelligence sharing and should have torn it down based upon them. If you email me through my web site, I will gladly provide you chapter and verse. But in addition to the Wall and Fannie/Freddie, Gorelick was also instrumental in the Boumediene decision.

I wouldn’t be so quick to place the newbie tag so quick on Cuda. She could just be brushing off the obviously loaded question and spinning it as, “sure, let’s never forget”, and move on to the next relevant question.
Kini on October 30, 2008 at 12:27 AM
I like the earlier comment about BO being the next Edsel. Maybe someone can do a nice photoshop of that.
I think the truthers blame the government because it is not as frightening as believing that there are really (at least) a billion people out there who want to kill us. Bush the baby eater will go away one day and everything will be all better. It’s an easier fear for them to live with.
deewhybee on October 30, 2008 at 12:54 AM
Yeah, I’d kind of like a new 9-11 investigation… As long as it is structured like this:
I’d like them to find an explanation on: How could Jamie Gorelick be a major, directly culpable and obvious part of the two biggest American disasters in the last 40 years, and never even be called to defend her actions?
LegendHasIt on October 30, 2008 at 1:24 AM

Sergeant Tim on October 30, 2008 at 1:45 AM
She did handle it really well. I might prefer Bill Clinton’s reaction to the troofers from last winter, but to keep things positive at a campaign rally, Palin couldn’t have done much better. She is extremely impressive.
funky chicken on October 30, 2008 at 1:46 AM
I got a little PO’d at a troofer on a job last year. They were on about the fire/steel thing, and I gently corrected them. They brought it up again five minutes later, I corrected them again, and told them they could look it up if they wanted to.
The next day, I overheard him saying it again, so I yelled form the next room “Dude, what the **** do you think they use to melt steel, water?”
A round of laughter later, I didn’t have to listen to that particular line of BS again.
Though I almost slugged the SOB when he went off on “Jewish bankers.”
Paulnut, if you hadn’t guessed. The only other Paulnut on the gig was pretty much the same way, only lazy and incompetent and subsequently unemployed shortly thereafter.

Of course fire can’t melt steel. It naturally comes out of the ground in the shape of spoons, gears, car doors, rebar, etc.

I keep expecting these “truthers” to get a clue and slink away in shame and disgust at their own rank stupidity, but they keep hanging on to their (repeatedly) disproven theories and contentions. They really need to cover that turd of an idea with kitty litter and move on.
SKYFOX on October 30, 2008 at 5:38 AM
Well AP, either Palin’s answer was a noob answer like you suggest, or perhaps it was a machiavelian masterstroke. Think about it, by answering as she did she completely disarmed and turned the truther’s question around. He couldn’t shout at her that she was covering up because she said yes to a new investigation. He also can’t claim that she believes as he does because she stated her reasons, and they are different from the truthers. She pwned him.

Whizzman, considering the amount of froth you spew everytime someone posts something vaguely critical of your candidate, you’re the last person that needs to lecture anyone about being rational. Go sit in the quiet room and let the grown ups talk.
Kinda funny…all the abuse of power shenanigans going on by Obama supporters (state employees, media, ect) just to get him elected, and no one cares. It’s all just part of the game. But there are still people who think George Bush has a crew of ninjas on standby to kill Americans only, and Dick Cheney has his x-box that can remote pilot cruise missiles that look like airplanes. And that’s 20% of our population believes some version of that garbage. Barking mad these people are.

c) The truther vote.
d) If in doubt about any “remaining voting matrix”, refer to a)
Mcguyver on October 30, 2008 at 10:29 AM
I think you might both be right, actually.
Sarah Palin is really fascininating to me. I like her a lot, and I’m not afraid of her, but I can start to empathize with people who do, and I don’t mean that in a trash-talking kind of way.
In this quote she shows enormous political talent the way she answers the question with literally no hesitation and yet comes up with the perfect response. That is an enormous amount of power that in the hands of someone who didn’t have good intentions at heart, would be pretty freaking scary.
Combine that with 8 years of telling themselves “KKKarl Rove and Dick Cheney are planning to put us away into camps” and you can see the fear.
Even if you aren’t ordinarily paranoid about things, if you sense that she has this talent and are worried about her ultimate motives, I can see why it would be unnerving.
