Ramirez on judgment

posted at 10:03 am on October 29, 2008 by Ed Morrissey

Remember when Barack Obama touted his judgment as a reason to vote for Hope and Change over traditional qualities like policy, experience, and track records?  He has a curious double standard when it comes to judgment, as it turns out, and two-time Pulitzer winning editorial cartoonist Michael Ramirez makes that plain in his latest IBD entry.  Only The One can exercise judgment in the Age of Obama:

Ramirez has a new collection of his works: Everyone Has the Right to My Opinion, which covers the entire breadth of Ramirez’ career, and it gives a fascinating look at political history.  Read my review here, and watch my interviews with Ramirez here and here.

That is Barry’s entire campaign strategy right there.

Have the schools and media dumbed down the American people enough for it to work ?

DeweyWins on October 29, 2008 at 10:07 AM

Is there any better…and in four small panels he defined Obama’s campaign.

Nice.

BadgerHawk on October 29, 2008 at 10:11 AM

Obama is the most anti-American liberal to evrer have run for the presidency. His anti-American ties and his desire to change the fabric of what our nation was founded on has been established without a doubt. If he is elected, it ia absolute proof that turning the publc education system over to a socialistic labor union (NEA)has worked quicker than expected. The ignorance of the American people will be the weapon to bring this country to it’s knees.

volsense on October 29, 2008 at 10:12 AM

This year the dems won’t need the usual amount of walking around money for whiskey and cigarettes. Heck, I bet in some places they’ve got a scheme set up where they convince their people that they actually have to PAY Obama a fee for the privelege of voting for him.

AZCoyote on October 29, 2008 at 10:16 AM

He betrays Obama in those cartoons with funny looking ears…

……kinda like the fat Santa I saw headed this way for an early Christmas,

…..only it had pigs feet and a porky looking belly and was carrying bags of chicarons to celebrate Norm Coleman’s senate win as a first stop, (beings Minnesota was first in line from the magnetic north pole).
This Santa I saw was supposed to have a smaller porky looking belly by the time he arrived in D.C., and, have only one veto pen left for McCain’s Christmas present.

I’d love to see a brief spot, seeing a tape of Ronald Reagan taking the Oath of Office in January 1981, hearing the words “to Protect and Defend the Constitution…”

Then cut to images of Obama with the sound of his voice:

“But I think it is an imperfect document, and I think it is a document that reflects some deep flaws in American culture…it also reflected the fundamental flaw of this country that continues to this day

Contrast.

This weapon is a double edged sword, to be sure.

One edge cutting at the fabric of our unsuspecting youth, the other at the mindless drones perched before their 42 inch flat screen TVs, with a blade so sharp, so finely tuned, the wounds delivered are hardly noticed.

Have faith. The Super Messiah is imploring his supporters to keep going because “I’m almost there”; even he doesn’t believe it any longer.

Notice those subtle shifts in the air, those are average Americans, people who might have voted for Obarfa in quieter times moving, setting their minds to vote McCain. There is a lot of well-deserved bitching going-on about the media whores, but enough is slipping through the cracks to give Oborg a death by a thousand cuts.

Hell, even my neighbors who are not political are determined to vote for McCain. I’ve seen them watching the debates and listening to the news and there is a deep mistrust about a democrat who is so slick and yet so empty.

It’s over for Oloser, he just doesn’t know it yet.

Bishop on October 29, 2008 at 10:40 AM

With Obama, it’s all about the cult of personality, rather than substance or content. In this cult he should be judged by who he is, not by what he does, his associates, or what he’s said. Trust him because of who he is. If you don’t, that’s a personal affront.

This is third world stuff, becoming a nation of men, not of laws. The cult of personality of a charismatic leader. He’s a narcissist. He’ll be a disaster.

Paul-Cincy on October 29, 2008 at 10:41 AM

Once upon a time, I comforted myself with the idea that if the horror of an Obama presidency came to pass – at least we’d all benefit from having the first Black president.

That seemed to me to be a good thing, a barrier that needed to be broken. And I think with the right person in office, it would have been a good thing – a unifying force, even if I disagreed with the man.

I don’t think so anymore. I think Obama will intentionally use his race as a bludgeoning tool, and rather than bring us together, it will divide us more sharply than ever.

Every disagreement with policy will be racist. Every statement will be dissected in a search for hidden racism.

Obama knows this – and his cynicism in exploiting it is a national nightmare. Rather than heal the racial divide, he’s ready to set us back a generation, to further his own ambitions.

Thought I’d fix the cult of personality comments. On top of that, we know what happens when cults of personality are affronted: The affronter gets to stand in front of a wall facing a firing squad. I expect no less from the Obama.

jeff_from_mpls on October 29, 2008 at 10:30 AM

Exactly.

Just like all those “we hate America” parades around the world before the Iraqi war: they were just the freakin’ commie and socialist organizations using it as an excuse to bash America/capitalism.

NOTHING to do with “iraqi citizens” or “pre-emptive strikes.”

Basically a bunch of Bill Ayers people gone wild.

I counter-protested these freaks in DC a couple of times.

I was amazed at the radical groups for supposed “anti-war” reasons. The media NEVER showed the anti-Israel, anti-American, isslamofascists majority in these crowds.

It wasn’t “anti-war;” it was all an excuse to bash America.

Let’s roll.

Great cartoon. It really nails the cult of Obama. The only way it could have been better in my view is if, instead of using Obama himself, it had a multi-racial group of Obama cultists saying “Don’t judge him on his words”, “Don’t judge him on his friends”, etc…

What I have noticed is that it is mostly, almost exclusively, the MSM that, with their pseudo polls with skewing and slanting, have been suggesting that Barack Obama might win.

However, much to the contrary, and given that of the 12% Blacks in America — an estimated less than 5% will vote for Obama (less than 14 million Black adult voters in a country of more than 305 million!) — McCain has a better than most chance to win big time on next Tuesday.

Over the last several months, we have learned that Obama is a radical, repugnant, and incessant liar. Obama is a thug much like the many, many “friends” and “mentors” he hangs with — Rezko, Farrakhan, Rev. Wright, Khalidi, communist Frank Marshall David and others. Now we learn that Obama is definitively a socialist and extremist leftist. Obama gets upset when TV hosts point this out — why? — because it’s the truth. Barack Hussein Obama is a loser.

The tens of millions, and more, voters that have learned the ugly truths about Barack Obama are NOT going to vote for him. They will defeat Obama.

The best hope we have for our economy, our military, our health, and our freedom is to vote for John McCain — honorable, with integrity, and a true patriot.
