Quotes of the day

“That’s not exactly the philosophy of a Democrat. Not only has this party belittled working people in this campaign from Joe the Plumber to the bitter comments, it has also been part of tearing down two female candidates. At first, certain Democrats and the press called Senator Clinton ‘dishonest.’ They went after her cleavage. They said her experience as First Lady consisted of having tea parties. There was no outrage over ‘Bros before Hoes’ or ‘Iron My Shirt.’ Did Senator Clinton make mistakes? Of course. She’s human.
But here we are about a week out and it’s déjà vu all over again. Really, front-page news is how the Republican National Committee paid for Governor Sarah Palin’s wardrobe? Where’s the op-ed about how Obama tucks in his shirt when he plays basketball or how Senator Biden buttons the top button on his golf shirt?”
*
“When Senator Hillary Clinton was demeaned and degraded during the Presidential Primary, many of us of, myself included, vowed ‘never again’. The treatment of Governor Palin by both the main stream media, and now the Obama Campaign, shows that the misogyny fest is alive and well in our country. There has been a complete and utter smear job of our fellow citizen, Sarah Palin, who is only trying to serve her country.”

sven10077 on October 29, 2008 at 10:44 PM
Uhh, but this is exactly what the democratic party’s been about since 2000. Attacking anyone viciously who doesn’t agree with their soviet-like doctrine of “gimme gimme, i need, i need”. Clinton was attacked, not because she was a woman, but because she stepped off the plantation. Palin is attacked because she’s stepped off the plantation. Joe the Plumber is attacked because, as a blue collar man, he’s stepped off the plantation.
This is what leads me to believe the polls are wrong. It’s not about the “Bradley affect”…it’s about the leftest affect. They are the new brown shirts.

You have to remember how Obama got elected to the senate in the first place. He went from also ran to the front runner after somehow his opponents (a highly respected incumbent) sealed divorice records were made public. Of course Obama didn’t know how this happened, and didn’t know anything about this.

Feminism to the Dems is ALL about abortion. The NOW gang’s support of serial skirt-chaser Bubba Clinton proved that.

You people will be rushed into the new obama reeducation camps. This kind of attitude problem may be corrected with some stern lectures, if that doesn’t work, perhaps some (newly reauthorized and previously reviled) waterboarding, beatings if necessary. But for the most recalcitrant, I cannot urge public beheadings enough. And you former Democrats that have abandoned the party because of your inherent RACISM, well, we have a special place for you.

…which is strange given that unwanted pregnancy is only an issue for women of child-bearing age whose contraception fails (or who don’t bother using contraception).
jazz_piano on October 29, 2008 at 10:57 PM
Exactly. That is like the ultimate #1 for them. That is their right, that they supposedly fought for. The fact that liberal women define themselves by such a violent act really says a lot about them.

Meanwhile, in Kentucky….an Obama effigy has been found and removed today at UK. An intensive manhunt is on to find those who perpetrated this blasphemy against that one and the professors are readying the re-education camp. Oh the horror.
Sporty1946 on October 29, 2008 at 11:02 PM
The PUMA movement is one of the least reported factors at work in this election — and they’re not just women. Will Bower, a Hillary “never again!” supporter, appeared with Greta tonight to explain why he is voting McCain-Palin.

…the price of freedom is vigilance.
Puritan1648 on October 29, 2008 at 11:32 PM
I dunno, I think Governor Palin was winking at Barry, telling him, “I’m on to you, pal”. A wink conveys power and confidence to me. She is outrageously amazing. I saw in NC and the girl is gifted.
bloggless on October 29, 2008 at 11:35 PM
Heck Puritan, you can go further back than that. Think McGovern, Carter and Dukakis. Clinton would be there too, if it hadn’t been for Perot, GHWB’s idiotic agreeing to increasing taxes, and Newt’s Contract with America that forced Clinton to the center and allowed him to succeed. Although, like all good Democraps, he won’t admit that, it’s all about them and NOONE ever gets credit for anything unless they can claim it for themselves. NOONE.

I’ve read the word “desperate” so much from the left, I think they’re having flashbacks to their forays into singles bars. It’s gotten so the word desperate itself sounds a little desperate coming from their lips and pens.
There’s going to be so much sh*t coming out about Obama, whether he wins or not, even before the Inauguration, that he’ll have lost all credibility with any independents that vote for him, precisely because his past appears to be so hard left and his present doesn’t show any indication of having left that behind, like most normal people do once they pass a certain age and realize those hard left “solutions” are mirages.

Oh you rotter…that’s seared into my quote memory now…LOL!!
Fortunata on October 29, 2008 at 11:40 PM
Drywall, the thing that is hilarious is how many times I hear the liberals say we are “desperate”.
How this entire campaign was conducted by Obama and his people is desperate. What else would you call the lengths that they’ve gone to, to win this campaign? I don’t know how old you are boy, but in the better part of five decades, I’ve never seen a more mean-spirited, corrupt, overtly race-baiting, double-standardizing and underhanded bunch of dirty tricks by his people and the media behind him. What is desperate is the amount of their sense of honor if they had any they had to compromise to get where they are.
You’re as deceitful in your comments here as they were in their campaign. But it aint over. Not even after the 4th is it over.
hawkdriver on October 29, 2008 at 11:42 PM
OK. I’m definitely not voting Obama and don’t really care for the guy. He’s a hard core socialist…probably a communist. However, could someone please explain to me how in the hell I’m supposed to see Sarah Palin shown winking for one second in a video is somehow sexist? I’m just not seeing it.

All O! had to do was swallow his pride and give the Hillary supporters a chance to be heard at the convention… or, better still, PICK HILLARY… and he wouldn’t have to worry about the PUMAs. What a maroon.
Y-not on October 29, 2008 at 11:57 PM
It’s the new math, my friend. Let me give you the equation:
truth = racist
truth = desperate
truth = lie
For example, if a train leaves Chicago at 7am travelling eastbound at 45mph, then you must be a desperate, lying racist.

The PUMAS at Hillbuzz and other PUMA site are totally jazzed and positive about our candidates. There’s some great articles up at Hillbuzz that are uplifting.
I think the PUMA factor is what’s going to win this for McCain/Palin. You can’t understate the contempt they have for Obama and his thug tactics. They’re on to him. And, they’re lying to pollsters…

Yes but the flipside of that is Republicans whose only opposition to feminism is anti-abortionism. Sarah Palin, who is a member of Feminists For Life, and her supporters (i.e. all mainstream conservatives) affirm every radical egalitarian feminist principle bar support for abortion.
Thats why Sarah Palin was the recipient of NOW’s endorsement. Abortion as a court-ordained right is unlikely to be overturned soon. In the meantime a useful idiot potential Republican VP who supports every feminist position aside from abortion is nothing to shake a stick at from a leftist perspective.
aengus on October 30, 2008 at 2:20 AM
“Sarah Palin was the recipient of NOW’s endorsement.”
um, care to back up such a wild assertion with a link?
Buckaroo on October 30, 2008 at 2:25 AM
Correction: It wasn’t NOW but rather the President of NOW’s LA Chapter giving her personal endorsement.
Its clearly not a “wild assertion” as it was linked on HotAir two weeks ago to mass acclaim by HA commenters. I can’t find that particular link because the HA search function is useless.
Here is the endorsement filmed at a Palin rally on YouTube.
aengus on October 30, 2008 at 2:35 AM
um, that’s a pretty big difference between the actual horrifically leftwing organization and ONE INDIVIDUAL who finally saw the light — and/or is just really, really pissed at duh1 …

S on October 30, 2008 at 2:47 AM
What does that have to do with my original point which was that Democrats support the entirety of the feminist agenda whereas Republicans oppose one aspect of it – the Supreme Court abortion fiat which is unlikely to be overturned in the near future – whilst endorsing every other aspect of it?
Here is the Hot Air post which I manged to track down by Google via Patterico.

I always thought that there would be a black man in the White House before there was a woman, for this very reason. It is true, there is a strain of girl bashing going on out there that is not so subtle.

PBS has an online poll posted, asking if Sarah Palin is qualified.
Apparently the left wing knew about this in advance and are flooding the voting with NO votes.
The poll will be reported on PBS and picked up by mainstream media. It can influence undecided voters in swing states.
Please do two things — takes 20 seconds.
1) Click on link and vote YES if you agree!
Here’s the link:
PBS Poll
2) Then send this to every McCain-Palin supporter
you know, and urge them to vote and pass it on.
The last thing we need is PBS saying their viewers don’t think Sarah Palin is qualified.

Democrats have always been more nasty and mean spirited. I guess it is because their foundation is class envy. My sister is a democrat and we can’t even speak during elections, each one getting worse. She cannot debate issues without turning it into a personal attack.

Any feminist who votes for Obama…isn’t a feminist, understand “sweetie”?
right2bright on October 30, 2008 at 9:36 AM
Probably what he was referring to was the endorsement and introduction by the predident of the L.A. chapter of NOW.
There is a whispering campaign of support of Palin by the NOW group. Being vocal and supporting a Republican in public is not a good thing if you are an avowed “feminist”. Just ask Tammy Bruce.
right2bright on October 30, 2008 at 9:40 AM
Screw that! The bigger poll happens next Tuesday and the question is whether Barry Obama is qualified to lead the nation after 143 days in the Senate!!!
It’s absurd to question the qualifications of the VP candidates without asking about the heads of the respective tickets.

johnnyU on October 30, 2008 at 9:41 AM
Many people said it and it might well come to pass.
‘America will elect a black man as President before it will ever elect a woman as President.’
No doubt under the new Obama fairness doctrine that is a racist comment. If so I’d like to elect for Gitmo as my prison – the weather and the food are apparently not bad at all.
Ares on October 30, 2008 at 10:16 AM
I gather you think Palin is some sort of closet feminist, but I’m really not clear from your posts what policy positions she’s taken that worry you.
To what aspects of feminism do you object?
Palin (and McCain) support equal pay for equal work
Palin supports Title IX
Neither of these are taboo positions in the Republican party.
What are the other “feminist agenda” items that concern you?
