Open thread: Transmission from Mt. Olympus, or whatever else you’re watching

posted at 7:21 pm on October 29, 2008 by Allahpundit

8 p.m. ET on CBS, NBC, Fox(!), Univision, etc etc. ABC and all three cable news nets are scheduled to be Hopenchange-free, but don’t be surprised if Olby points the camera at a monitor airing the commercial and just lets it roll until 8:30. That’s pretty much all “Countdown” is anyway.

Here’s a sneak preview, in which we find The One using his “empathy” voice — quite distinct from this one — and the awkward directionless hand gestures to which we’ve become accustomed during these closing arguments. Snark away below. If you’re depressed at the sight of him momentarily taking over the airwaves, this might cheer you up.

While we wait, anyone have any song ideas for Joe Wurzelbacher? A country/western cover of “Taxman” is obligatory. What about originals? “Your Cheatin’ Clogged the Drainpipe to My Heart”?

Well I have a rerun of Law and Order on that I’ve seen at least five times, and would rather listen to it for background noise until this love-in is over.

I am sure the news orgs will have the highlights – more than I care to see – during morning coffee.

tru2tx on October 29, 2008 at 8:23 PM

More song ideas:
McCain: Son Of A Son Of A Sailor by Jimmy Buffett
Palin: Hey Good Lookin’ by Mavericks or perhaps More Than a Woman by BeeGees
Joe the even Dumber: What Kind Of Fool Am I?

:p

So does everyone agree we won’t be seeing scenes of Obama’s classroom in Indonesia tonight.

I can’t watch but did wonder if he would talk really really loud like the other guy on the infomercials or if it would be more Chavez like.

Cindy Munford on October 29, 2008 at 8:24 PM

Question: Isn’t there a rule that candidates have to be given the same airtime? I’m not talking about the fairness doctrine, I thought that networks had to give equal time… So wouldn’t that mean McCain should get his own half hour variety show?

fogw on October 29, 2008 at 8:25 PM

This is so dreadful, there is nothing to make fun of, this is disappointing, at least during his Greek Temple speech, it was worth comedy gold over here.

How is Obama going to do all of this when he wants to cut future development of missile systems, does not want to weaponize space, wants the world to be nuclear weapons free.

Looks like Barack missed the spray can in the back of his head in that last shot.

War69DotCom on October 29, 2008 at 8:26 PM

I watched for a few minutes because I was looking for the ball game. I kept expecting someone to pop on the screen and say “Now how much would you pay!” I lasted maybe 6 or 7 minutes and then switched to Fox News.

War69DotCom on October 29, 2008 at 8:05 PM

And another 20% are going to be looking for the number to text their votes to at the end of American Idol Obama’s commercial.

Dick Durbin, the man who has done NOTHING, giving Barack an endorsement, wow Joe Biden’s hairplugs look divine.

Mojack420 on October 29, 2008 at 8:27 PM

Seriously, this is depressing. He paints life today as a country of sad stories. Wow has he missed the boat.

My ad would show the heart of America, the joys of success, our great military triumphs not a picture of sadsack stories designed to come across as Papa Obama here to fix it all.

BTW, Sen McKaskill (sp) lied, outright lied.

1. This whole “spending in Iraq being more than at the start of the war” thing is utter crap. Someone should tell him to look at the figures some time.

2. The “every American has a right to education and health care” crap proves that he is a true socialist.

3. Obama has no right to blame the economy as it stands now on the past 8 years.

There is nothing wrong with your investments. Do not attempt to adjust your portfolio. I am controlling the markets. If I wish to make you richer, I will lift up the markets. If I wish to make you poorer, I will crush the markets. Do not try to hide your money as I will find it and take it all. I can reduce your life to a soft blur, or sharpen it to crystal clarity. I will control your ups. I will control your downs. For the next four eight twelve sixteen years, sit quietly and I will control all that you see, hear and feel and are allowed to say. You are about to experience the shock and awe which reaches from the your inner mind to THE OBAMA NATION.
