Open thread: Transmission from Mt. Olympus, or whatever else you’re watching

posted at 7:21 pm on October 29, 2008 by Allahpundit

8 p.m. ET on CBS, NBC, Fox(!), Univision, etc etc. ABC and all three cable news nets are scheduled to be Hopenchange-free, but don’t be surprised if Olby points the camera at a monitor airing the commercial and just lets it roll until 8:30. That’s pretty much all “Countdown” is anyway.

Here’s a sneak preview, in which we find The One using his “empathy” voice — quite distinct from this one — and the awkward directionless hand gestures to which we’ve become accustomed during these closing arguments. Snark away below. If you’re depressed at the sight of him momentarily taking over the airwaves, this might cheer you up.

While we wait, anyone have any song ideas for Joe Wurzelbacher? A country/western cover of “Taxman” is obligatory. What about originals? “Your Cheatin’ Clogged the Drainpipe to My Heart”?

stuff like that tells me they have figured out the O-gasm has plateaued at best and is tanking and they are trying to salvage some vestiges of credibility…we’ll know more by Saturday based on their tone….the newsies will jump ship before the pundits.

sven10077 on October 30, 2008 at 1:17 AM

Missed the infomercial……….. decided to watch SpongeBob SquarePants with my six year old instead……….

We laughed at how stupid Patrick is, and Mr. Crabs, what a hoot…………

Then he wanted to sleep in Daddi’s room, where I lied down with him, telling him that I loved him, until he went to sleep.

I myself took a short nap, then had to shut the house down before sleep myself, then off to work and school in the AM….

For giggles, I logged back on to this site and started to read the comments…………. you guys/gals are great.

It seems like the only thing I missed was the “… but wait, there’s more……. if you order now, we will add a key chain light, only pay the additional shipping and handling…..” {with the Australian accent, of course}

How much did “the One” pay for this?

……….. looks like SpongeBob was the wiser choice for the evening.

I also saw a little of Bob Beckle on Hannity’s rerun….. If I’m not mistaken, you can see the sweat of defeat under the make-up and hair dye starting to creep in……. this weekend should be interesting.

Good night all…….. spend time with those you love, the coming weeks should be ones for the history books.

Wow. That sounds truly strange. I hope it turns up on YouTube – sounds like some good ad fodder.

I think one Obama’s biggest weaknesses is that he often comes off as a not-very-serious punk; whether it’s flipping off Hillary, laughing at McCain’s remarks about ACORN during the final debate, joking about communism today (in the face of his OWN WORDS), or this, it’s his Achilles heel, imo.

Someone’s sure to put it up on YouTube, if it doesn’t get yanked for copyright reasons. Might be available at Comedy Central’s web site as well; I haven’t checked yet.

It sure sounded to me like he was talking as he would if sitting around with Ayers and some of his ultra-lib pals discussing how this is the perfect storm that will allow him to further the Cloward-Pliven Strategy.

From the John Stewart interview:

Jon Stewart: No, that’s nice. Is there a sense that you have, you know, two years ago when you began this journey, the country was not necessarily in the shape it’s in now. Is there a sense that you don’t want this? (Obama laughs) you may look at the country and think, you know, when I thought I was going to get this it was a relatively new car. Now look at it!

Barack Obama: You know, I actually think this is the time to want to be president. If you went into public service thinking that you could have an impact, now is the time where you could have an impact. We tend to be a pretty conservative country. I don’t mean conservative politically per se, but conservative in the sense that, you know, things are kind of going along pretty well and we don’t want to mess with it too much. And then every once in a while you have these big challenges and big problems. It gives an opportunity for us to really move in a new direction. I think this is one of those moments on things like energy and health care and the economy and education where I think people recognize what we’ve been doing isn’t working.

The full transcript is here, but most of it was a predictable ass-kissing festival. He used the same cutesy story about his kids wanting to watch something other than himself that Michelle used on one of the talk shows, and other fluff.

But that bit above is downright frightening IMO.

FWIW call me Jonsey.

My handle is actually from my granddad, who served in Normandy, France and occupied Germany once we won the war. Right now I am the same age (22) as he was when he dove out of a burning c-47 to liberate southern France.

Unfortunately I was permanently prohibited from serving in uniform due to a birth defect-trust me I’ve tried over and over again. I figure to serve in other ways. To make sure my friends “over there” who live to come back here don’t get screwed over by Senator Government.

And to honor the ones who don’t come back, as the list gets longer each year, ensure that their sacrifices weren’t for nothing: Hold the Congress and President (whoever it shall be in a week) to the fire to get those guys the best tactics and gear possible so that the list doesn’t have be any longer than necessary.

Semper Fidelis my HotAir friends.

PS VOTE MCCAIN!!!

Would any responsible company make Obama its CEO or CFO? Would any sane investor put money into a business/corporation in which Obama is its CEO or CFO?

I rest my case.

Obama’s self-indulgenet infomercial appealed only to those who cannot get enough of “Dancing with the Stars”

Speaking for myself, I avoid television at all costs. It is the opiate of the masses…and Obama is its star.

Had those words been uttered by any of Obama’s mentors and buddies, to include Alinsky, Ayers, Dohrn, Pfleger, Wright, etc., he would literally be talking about a Communist revolution. Based solely on Obama’s post-2000 public statements and his voting record in the Illinois and U.S. Senate, we would have to conclude he’s talking about a shift toward democratic socialism — some nationalization of the means of production (e.g. healthcare, banking) and significant wealth redistribution for its own sake. But Obama wants us to believe, based upon his WORDS, that he’s talking about centrist reforms and tax cuts.

What to believe, American people? What to believe??

Expect to see Obama rule this country in a Chavez model of creeping socialism and reduction of individual liberties, suppression of political opponents, and so forth. Obama won’t use violence, nor will he try to “cancel” elections or suspend the constitution or anything like that… I’m talking about public policy goals.

Well my take on it is, someone ought to give these participants the Joe the Plumber treatment.

These people are probably NOT telling the truth in this MSM sponsored propaganda film and probably CAN afford to buy medicine and food. they may even have a long history of Democrat activism (paid actors or partisan volunteers)

I just get a sick feeling when I see someone of Obama’s dictatorial character using the national media (who in a democracy, is supposed to be an impartial safe haven for the distribution of information)to brainwash the masses with distored facts and soothing pictures in primetime.

McCain is correct. This 30-minute program was the result of an Obama broken promise NOT to use federal campaign funds. He lied, suckered McCain into going one direction and then takes the money to produce a propaganda flick.

To me, Obama has all the characteristics of a person heavily inclined to be severely corrupt.
