New RNC ad: “Surgeon”

They’ve made the point here about as effectively as you can make it but surely his inexperience has been priced into the polls by now. He’s been deflecting attacks on this point literally for years; all this is, really, is Hillary’s “3 a.m.” ad by another name. Why will it resonate any more than that spot did?

Right, right. I keep forgetting. Idgits don’t pay attention until the final week.

Didn’t he already say he runs the family budget? I call false advertising.

We must defeat Obama!

mindhacker on October 29, 2008 at 8:57 PM

Very well done. I predict a landslide for Truman McCain.

winemkr on October 29, 2008 at 8:58 PM

“Untested” is being pretty darn generous.

Bet he’s got a 593 credit score.

Jaibones on October 29, 2008 at 9:00 PM

McCAIN: You’ve never run anything, ever!

OBAMA: That’s not true! I ran a strategy session at ACO… I mean… I chaired a sub-committee that I never called into session!

Tuning Spork on October 29, 2008 at 9:00 PM

Would you get on a plane flown by an incompetent pilot?
Would you trust your child with a person who was guilt of child neglect or child abuse?
Would you go under with a surgeon who has made life altering mistakes?

So why vote for McCain?

VOTE OBAMA!!!

barry norris on October 29, 2008 at 9:01 PM

You’re right Barry, the belief in beginners luck is a great philosophy to vote by.

warden on October 29, 2008 at 9:05 PM

People know he’s inexperienced, but this makes them think. They think inexperienced president and don’t think a ton about it. Then you point out that they wouldn’t let an inexperienced surgeon operate on them and it puts it into a little perspective.

amerpundit on October 29, 2008 at 9:06 PM

Ennui-laden troll is laden with ennui.

carbon_footprint on October 29, 2008 at 9:06 PM

Very good ad. I hope they play them in enough markets.

JellyToast on October 29, 2008 at 9:09 PM

Should have had Biden and his on the job training comment.

ctmom on October 29, 2008 at 9:12 PM

Voting for Obama is like going skydiving.

Lots of people would think it would be very cool to jump out of an airplane until the day of the jump comes and they realize they could be splattered upon the earth if it goes wrong.

I predict the largest ever percentage of people who change their mind inside the election booth this year.

Elizabetty on October 29, 2008 at 9:14 PM

VOTE OBAMA!!!
barry norris on October 29, 2008 at 9:01 PM

Would you get on a plane flown by a pilot whose only flight experience will come from getting your plane into the air successfully?

Would you trust your children with a person who won’t allow you to treat your kids to the same privileges his own enjoy?

Would you go under with a surgeon you refuses to release information pertaining to his training, abilities or competency?

If so, vote Obarfy.

Steve Sailer has a free ebook out on Obama that might be worth a read…

People generally fail to understand that political positions require actual skills, and specific sets of them. Of course, the fantasy world running on universal democracy depends on the notion of the idiot amateur politician. Things are just more complex, these days.

progressoverpeace on October 29, 2008 at 9:20 PM

This is one of if not the best add yet.

KBird on October 29, 2008 at 9:22 PM

great ad…hope it actually airs…

On the upside, I Voted McCain-Palin TODAY!!!!

deedtrader on October 29, 2008 at 9:22 PM

That’s the single best ad I’ve seen. The GOP should run it till they’re broke.

edgehead on October 29, 2008 at 9:23 PM

I think this just makes the average guy out there think about Palin. The Biden “mark my words” ad is much more targeted at Barack and I love at the end when they say, we don’t have to find out. It grabs me emotionally every time, feeling relief at the end if we get McCain in.

nemo239 on October 29, 2008 at 9:24 PM

Would you give total control of you country to the folks who helped ruin our banking system? With a guy who has never done anything but run for office, vote “present” and give decent speeches only when he could read them?

I sure gotta hope NOT!

nemo239 on October 29, 2008 at 9:24 PM

Palin would not be POTUS in three months. Besides, she runs a very large state with thousands of employees and billions of dollars of revenue.

She is light years more ready than Obama for a job she may never have.

Elizabetty on October 29, 2008 at 9:29 PM

Slightly false.

Didn’t he run the Chicago Annenberg Challenge? How’d that work out?

Wasn’t he the editor of the Harvard Law Review? How’d that go?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…………….

API is reporting that Granny Sarah (Senator Obama’s Kenyan grandmother) has been banned from giving interviews until November 5th.

He said all visitors to the home would be thoroughly screened by the police before being allowed in.

Meanwhile, Obamamania continued to grip Kisumu town and its environs as hawkers cashed in on the craze to sell branded T-shirts, caps and badges.

Seems to be confirmed by the Daily Nation (Kenya)

Obama’s Kenya family halts media interviews

But Mr Said Obama said the family would open up to the media on November 5, a day after the elections.

And on Wednesday, Siaya District police chief Mr Johnston Ipara said security officers would restrict entry to the home to ensure the family privacy is guaranteed

“People who visit the family’s home in K’Ogelo will be restrained from conducting interviews to the family members,” he said.

Dr.Cwac.Cwac on October 29, 2008 at 9:48 PM

If Obama wins and the congress falls under the complete control of the Democrats, the rest of us will become disenfranchised and will be taxed without representation. You can only have adequate representation when your congressperson and senator have power to influence the government . . . they will have none. Haven’t we been here before . . . didn’t we have a tea party to highlight the event?

barry norris on October 29, 2008 at 9:01 PM

You jerk. Composition 101 and a short course in spelling should greatly improve your argumentative skills and your ability to influence others . . . or in your case, it probably wouldn’t help.

rplat on October 29, 2008 at 9:57 PM

Who says the 3 a.m. ad didn’t work? Wasn’t that around the time Hillary started gaining momentum?

Kronos on October 29, 2008 at 10:01 PM

Allah,

I like this one from the Onion. Obama undertakes Presidential Internship program. He interns with the President of Spain.

That was hysterical!

“Andrew, as good as this internship might look on Obama’s resume, will it really get him a full-time job as the US President?”.

You know who else thinks he isn’t ready? Michelle Obama.

Michelle: “It’s way too soon he hadn’t done anything yet?”
With all of her education, why does she insist on speaking this way? NO way she will be our first lady.

carbon_footprint on October 29, 2008 at 10:25 PM

Now THIS is a good ad. Errrrr ahhhhh…. what took so long? And will anybody see it but me?

Sugar Land on October 29, 2008 at 10:33 PM

That’s a good ad.

JustTruth101 on October 29, 2008 at 10:46 PM

Speaking truth to idgits is something that must be done. So there, they did it.

This just hammers home the OS moment before the idgits pull the lever, punch the chad, color in the circle, or tap the computer screen. It is powerful Allah because it is something that will stick in their minds. You can like the glossy, slick talking MESSIAH, but does he qualify for the job? He looks all GQ, but what is underneath the suit? It sticks and is not like nailing Jello to the wall.

freeus on October 29, 2008 at 10:54 PM

The simple act of ‘running for president’ qualifies you for the office…if you are among the anointed.

whitetop on October 29, 2008 at 11:25 PM

This is what’s wrong with early voting. It doesn’t matter what info comes out now, over 1 million people in Colorado have already voted, either early or early by mail. That’s half of the voters.

And you can’t take it back.

Common Sense on October 29, 2008 at 11:41 PM

Wait, isn’t “inexperienced” code for ‘black’?

Racist Ad!!!!!

/snark

Seriously — I like it. It’s one of several good ads that ought to help seal the deal for late-deciding voters.

Common Sense on October 29, 2008 at 11:41 PM

I could be wrong, but my sense is that if you’re not sure who you’re going to vote for, you don’t vote early.

(An exception might be people who can’t get off work during the week — but I’d guess they’ll vote this coming weekend, right?)

The critical voters who are still in play aren’t voting early — despite Obama’s massive effort to get them to do so.

ClintACK on October 30, 2008 at 12:19 AM

Sturgeon yes; surgeon no

“hey NRA: turn the gun on yourself for once…Vote OBAMA!”

LOL

Elizabetty on October 29, 2008

As an 18 year skydiver I call “blue skies” to you, Elizabetty. I remember that first jump like it was yesterday and the fear you referenced loomed large in my mind. Surprisingly though, very few first-time jumpers chicken out once they’re in the plane. Some do slink back to their car before their jump and drive away. For me, it was about facing my fear and pushing through it to do what was right for me. It also helped to have faith that God was looking after my dumb a$$.
As for those who stand in the voting booth on that fateful day…
They are not just looking at their own mortality, but the fate of the nation and the future for their children. I believe you’re right, Elizabetty. Again, blue skies.

Dr.Cwac.Cwac on October 29, 2008 at 9:30 PM

He squandered over a hundred million dollars of other people’s money on a bunch of nonsense that ultimately helped no one and accomplished nothing. Probably a pretty accurate preview of what an Obama WH administration (God forbid) would be like — except that the amount of money pissed away (that’s “code” for redistributed) would be infinitely greater.

AZCoyote on October 30, 2008 at 6:44 AM

Powerfull. Short and concise.

all this is, really, is Hillary’s “3 a.m.” ad by another name. Why will it resonate any more than that spot did?

The point is, that ad did resonate with the public; it was one of the most effective ads during the primary. It just wasn’t enough to overcome Hillary’s negatives. This is a great time for this ad to come out, and I hope it’s run continuously until every voter sees it.

rmgraha on October 30, 2008 at 9:02 AM

This ad should finish with Biden and Michelle Obama’s spoken words about his inexperience and on the job training.
