Spike Lee: Obama’s emergence “pre-deortained”
posted at 11:36 am on October 28, 2008 by Allahpundit
Preordained, predetermined — you know what he means. Nothing new, but Lee on politics is fun to watch since he’s willing to articulate the sort of things many of his allies seem to believe but deem too kooky or cretinous to say publicly. See, e.g., his take on the racial politics of black Democrats supporting Hillary during the primary. Obama allies like Jesse Jackson Jr used that subject to twist arms, but quietly, behind closed doors. Not Spike: “Ooh, Massuh Clinton was good to us, massuh hired a lot of us, massuh was good!”
Anyway, a fine occasion to savor the nuance of the self-styled skeptics and iconoclasts of the left treating their candidate this year as a demigod. Obama be thy name! Click the image to watch.

Dusty on October 28, 2008 at 11:56 AM
Drunk or not, Spike’s always been a race-baiting self-promoting idiot.
When one of his movies succeeds (Do The Right Thing, He Got Game, Inside Man), it’s because he’s a genius as a director.
When one of his vanity projects fails commercially (Malcolm X), it’s because people were buying tickets to PG-13 movies and sneaking into his R-rated film
I don’t think he likes to address some of his complete and total flops, like School Daze.
(The Wayans Brothers did a Do The Right Thing skit on In Living Color where one of the big punch-lines was that Spike was giving away free copies of School Dayz and no one would take them.)

I’m convinced there’s a MULTITUDE of bloggers, reporters, columnists, talk-show hosts who are Obama supporters just for new material. McCain is indeed just the sequel to Bush-derangement, after 8 years they want a new-derangement. And they WILL attack once their prey thinks it safe and care-free.

When I was in college I had an English project regarding Spike’s movie “Do the Right Thing.” Basically the teacher’s objective was for us to write about why we think what happened (the riot) was the right or wrong thing to do and to defend our position.
I obviously said it was the wrong thing to do and defended my position quite well; I received an A in the project and an A for the course.
It was really a very simple defense of course since Spike’s whole contention in the movie was it was ok to riot and destroy the white owner’s restaurant because he didn’t have any pictures of blacks in his restaurant and he smashed “Radio Hakim’s” radio, only because Hakim was blaring his music in the restaurant even after the owner told him to turn it off. In other words because the owner of the restaurant did not have pictures of blacks and asked Radio Hakim to turn off his loud music in HIS restaurant he must be a racist!
IMHO MLK would have scoffed at Spike’s simplification and trivialization of what true “racism” is and he (MLK) would have admonished Spike for doing so. In other words don’t cry wolf as you hurt the cause when you cry racism at the drop of a hat (like Obambi does) much like the negative affect it has when a woman falsely accuses someone of rape, it hurts the cause and breeds doubt when legitimate victims come forward.

Theatres are making a visible, obvious effort to keep “American Carol” off that list. I tried to go see it last weekend and found there were only three showings on a Sunday – one at 6 PM, one at 8, and one at 10. None of which I could make – the first two due to being at church, and the 10 showing because I have work on Monday mornings and I’m already a bad enough morning person as it is.
I’d bet it’s worse on a weekday.

With Obama in office, Lee may finally help us get to the bottom of the controversy as to whether Bush and Rove personally blew up the levees in black areas down here in New Orleans or if they had somebody in the administration do it for them.

The next four years are going to be as miserable as that Spike Lee Joint, He Got Game.
We’ve heard the hymns to BHO, we’ve seen the votive candles, we hear Spike the douchebag claiming B.B. and A.B. for our new calendar, we’ve heard Farrakhan call him the messiah (and all the other myriad references to Jesus Christ), and anyone who disagrees with him will be the hateful pharisee.
We’re in trouble. Hide what money you can (from the tax man), buy your ammo (before taxes on it go up–again), and pray that we can make it through this new administration with the shirts on our backs.

The point is not to defend something you don’t support but, rather, to learn to think critically about issues. Unless your position is so clearly 100% the right one (i.e. the other side doesn’t have a single point to make) then it’s important to see competing sides.
What I hated in college were those group projects. I was never in one of those, nor do I know anyone, who found value of sitting around with other students as a group- just so the professor didn’t have as many papers to grade at the end of the semester.

It’s how my brain works… I guess that just means I’m poor at critical thinking. I simply cannot fathom a position that differs from my own until it’s step-by-step explained to me. That’s the only way anyone’s ever succeeded in changing my mind. I can occasionally understand one or two points from the other side, but never their entire position.
Same, as well as in high school. I always figured it was because I was a loner.

…no…he’s become America’s Leni Riefenstahl…except that Ms. Riefenstahl, as a film maker, had talent and a fair measure of style.
Maybe, should Mr. Obama win, Lee can be coaxed into making a “Triumph of the Community Organizer”, complete with the “cathedral of ice” searchlights at night effect, and acolytes marching down stairs carrying Obama-logo’d flags…shots of “the Leader” with the camera below the subject, sort of looking up his nostrils, making him seem noble…celebrating the one-party state, national “unity”, the dignity of labor, loads of fluffy- and noble-sounding nonsequitur slogans, while demonizing outsiders and those who resist “change”….
…except that it wouldn’t be as good a film, of course…and will be released straight to DVD….
Puritan1648 on October 28, 2008 at 12:31 PM

Wonder how happy THE SPIKE will be when THE ONE says it is time to be patriotic and give his money to THE MESSIAH? Redistribution of wealth will apply to everyone; friend and foe. The friend may be last on the list, but he will still be on the list.
I am beyond fed up with these religious connections to THE ONE. AB and BB! Jesus was a community organizer! Jesus was for redistribution of the wealth! “We are what we have been waiting for!” “I will health the Earth and the seas will recede!” “There will be a light that comes down from above and you will hear a voice that says you must vote Obama!” And so forth and so on. Even JFK did not think he was Jesus! This dude, Obama. is beyond insane with the “I am the Saviour!” ideology and his followers like THE SPIKE need to be sent to the funny farm! Talk about re-education camps!
freeus on October 28, 2008 at 12:45 PM
…and, in so saying, Mr. Bush was speaking about the actual God…what he felt as his mission is irrelevant. Anything wrong with feeling that your country is going to need you and your services, and then offering them?
…in the case of the American Left, they’ve elevated what I presume to be a mortal man (I presume because I haven’t actually thumped his chest or taken his pulse), to the station of god…a common fault among the godless. I think it was Chesterton who said that the problem with atheism isn’t that you believe in nothing, but that you’ll believe in anything.
I’m sure that, given this deification by his worshipful throngs, once in office Mr. O will have no problems come wreath-laying time at Arlington…he’ll just stroll down Pennsylvania Avenue and walk right ‘cross the Potomac to do the duty.
I wonder if he’ll call a plague down on Republicans for our apostasy…boils, maybe….
…anyway…I’m looking forward to the crucifixion….
