[...] Ed links to this recap from a spring 1996 meeting of the Chicago chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America, and guess who is involved? That’s right, Barack Obama! Barack Obama observed that Martin Luther King’s March on Washington in the 1960s wasn’t simply about civil rights but demanded jobs as well. Now the issue is again coming to the front, but he wished the issue was on the Democratic agenda not just on [Pat] Buchanan’s. [...]

“even Donald Trump, if he chose to do some useful work for a change”

Because we all know that sociology professors at Ivy League schools do so much more useful work and create so much more wealth than do real estate developers.

I'm willing to bet that Prof. Wilson hasn't put in a 40 hour week since he became of professor. I'm sure he'd count all the time he puts in researching and writing his books, but if that's part of his "work" how come he's not sharing book royalties with his employer like engineering professors do with patents?

Good evening comrades…..

Only if we choose to be. We can choose to be sheep or we can choose to be Americans. It's easy to be a sheep; just go along with what your "betters" tell you. Being an American takes courage and resolve. It can ultimately cost you your life, but other than God and family it's the only thing that merits that sacrifice.
I will not submit!

There is very little to laugh about 1 week before election but this sure put a smile on my face and wanted to pass it on.

Don't know if you saw this from "Roger in Mass". It's brilliant: I love this short story;Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read "Vote Obama, I need the money." I laughed. Once in the restaurant my server had on a "Obama 08" tie, again I laughed as he had given away his political preference--just imagine the coincidence. When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight. I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I've decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful. At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient needed money more. I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

I think Obama may very well be an academic socialist, but when the rubber hit the road, he was either too scared, too incompetent, or too much hit by reality to actually put his beliefs into practice.

rockmom

I think you're way, way off here, rockmom. I think that Barack Obama - and those who have helped him rise to prominence - knew EXACTLY what they were doing.

Basically, in American politics, candidates for national offices are judged on two things: primarily, their records in office...secondarily, their personal lives. With that in mind, Obama has shown himself to be perhaps the most brilliant PURE politician in American history, because he fully understands the American propensity to not judge a man on their associations, but on their actions.

As Dick Morris has stated before, the reason Obama has done nothing in elected office is so that his political opponents have nothing to use against him. That really only leaves his personal life open for attack. Happily married? Check. Socially-engaged wife? Check. Beautiful children? Check. That leaves one weakness to exploit: his associations; however, The main problem with pinning any negative effect from these associations on Obama is that the average American voter is WOEFULLY UNINFORMED about leftist politics. Why? Because Leftists have controlled all the information streams in this country for 40+ years now, and they have spent that 40+ years feeding the American public a steady diet of propaganda that paints all right-wing political thought as dangerous and suspect and all left-wing political thought as benign and good-hearted, if sometimes a little goofy and over-the-top.

For an example, let's take a look at who are almost always the bad guys in American television and movies.

If there's any sort of a political theme present, 90% of the time the bad guys are Nazis, neo-Nazis, conservative politicians or businessmen, fundamentalist Christians, or some sort of crazy person who believes that the weak exist to be preyed upon by the strong (a common portrayal of right-wing thought). The good guys are always reluctant warriors, sensitive and inclusive, who adhere in varying degrees to Leftist tenets of multiculturalism, moral relativity, and subjective truth. But since not EVERY bad guy in the real world is a white Christian racist, Hollywood has to sometimes portray members of a "protected" group (i.e. blacks, Hispanics, Arabs, etc.) as the bad guys. But in those instances, there are always two phenomena present to help offset any negative potrayal of that protected group: 1) one of the primary good guys is ALWAYS a member of the protected group and 2) somewhere, lurking in the wings, there is ALWAYS a right-wing foil of the type I listed earlier who is trying to sabotage the efforts of the good guys and who is portrayed as being just as morallay reprehensible as the bad guys.

But where are the movies about evil Leftists? Where are the movies about Lenin? Stalin? Mao? And the millions upons millions upon millions who were murdered by these Leftists brutes? Well, those movies don't exist. I wonder why.

So in that light, is it really any wonder why the American public is unconcerned with Obama's associations with detestable Leftists like Ayers and Wright? The simple, sad fact is that the vast majority of the American public HAS NO IDEA what "Leftist" means in the first place.

Jeremiah Wright? Just a crazy preacher. Bill Ayers? Just some nutty old commie from the 60s.

As the bard wrote:

Something is rotten in the state of Denmark.

But anyway, she said she’s in the $250K+ category and that she’s happy - nay, thrilled - to pay more in taxes because she believes so strongly in Obama’s message of hope and thinks he’ll help so many people with the money

aero

If I were Ferguson, I would have asked her the following question:

"Since you're so concerned with "helping" everybody, I'm sure that you've already been donating 40% of your earnings to the less-fortunate, right? No? Well, why not? Nothing's been stopping you from doing so?"

The look of abject confusion and stupidity that would have registered on her face would have been priceless.

The simple, sad fact is that the vast majority of the American public HAS NO IDEA what “Leftist” means in the first place.

Jeremiah Wright? Just a crazy preacher. Bill Ayers? Just some nutty old commie from the 60s.

As the bard wrote:

Something is rotten in the state of Denmark.

But anyway, she said she’s in the $250K+ category and that she’s happy – nay, thrilled – to pay more in taxes because she believes so strongly in Obama’s message of hope and thinks he’ll help so many people with the money

aero

If I were Ferguson, I would have asked her the following question:

“Since you’re so concerned with “helping” everybody, I’m sure that you’ve already been donating 40% of your earnings to the less-fortunate, right? No? Well, why not? Nothing’s been stopping you from doing so?”

The look of abject confusion and stupidity that would have registered on her face would have been priceless.

Cute reference about his disability…you disgusting little rat.

I checked his/her old posts... doesn't seem to be an astroturfer or troll... just someone with a poor sense of humor, I think.

Anyway, we can all debate about how McCain ran his campaign, but at the end of the day you can't do the control experiment, so it's all academic. What we do know is that he did not resort to thuggery or lying or cheating. That matters.

This is a close race, but maybe not really that close with all of those undecideds, PUMAs, and quiet conservatives out there. Don't trust the polls!

Craig should have asked her, if she is so eager to give money to help the poor, why does she need to wait for the govt to take it first. There are thousands of charities out there, all in need of money.

The media have are active participants in this race and have sought to destroy Obama's opposition as well as suppress stories and evidence which might be damaging to his career.

The left and media have gone to great lengths to polarize the nation so even if McCain were to win, the insurgency would begin immediately.

One week before the election, and Obama is being "vetted" on this one issue. 1996...2001...2008, consistent in his desire to move wealth around.
As one of the LAT reporters stated, 18 hours a day for months and none of the reporters know anything about Obama.
How about getting off the plane and doing some research...
