Will the goddamned carpetbagger triumph? Or will this reckless, bullying fossil actually be returned to Congress for his thousandth term?

The answer rests in your goddamned hands.

I WISH someone would say something like that here in Virginia! Our past two Governors have been carpetbaggin Yankees!!

TugboatPhil on October 28, 2008 at 10:34 PM

carpetbaggin Yankees!!

Yankees, as in NY?
They’ve got a carpetbaggin’ Rebel Senator who just ran for President.

jgapinoy on October 28, 2008 at 10:37 PM

That bast**d needs to be taken out. Not killed. Just removed. Someone Fresh! Replace all the Democrats. That would work better. No Yankees too. How is that TugboatPhil?

Um, it’s hard not to elect Yankees in the Northern States.

I am as interested in the Murtha race as I am the Presidential election. If I had the time I would be heading to PA to knock on doors now. SO anyone who is close by, please do.

House Democrats move to shore up Murtha

I just donated $200 on my corporate American Express. This could cost me my job because my employers are Osama all the way.

I don’t care though because even if McCain isn’t perfect there is one thing that that he says that constantly tugs at my heart strings, and that is COUNTRY FIRST.

It’s true and I readily admit it, I love my country and I stand by our founding fathers vision. The democratic party and in particular Osama Obama is standing ready to bend our nation over and screw us and our ideals without the courtesy of a reach around.

Obama wants us to be part of a global solution.

I want us to be part of a nation wide anti democratic solution.

I am fighting with McCain, I understand him, he loves tis country.

Osamabama has no concept of what America is all about. He is a very bad man.

The smart guy has a PayPal option – use it. I just did to the tune of $20. Least I could do… most I could spare in WA state (we really need Dino Rossi as Governor).

I don’t know how this goddamned son of a bitch keeps getting goddamned elected. I guess the people in Pennsylvania are not only racists and rednecks, they’re goddamned morons too.

Goddamn it.

HRC is from Illinois, Billy boy brought her to Arkansas when he came back from climbing trees in England…

Gohawgs on October 29, 2008 at 12:10 AM

You know, being from the south, the term “carpetbagger” is considered a racist term. At least, around here it is.

Why? Because carpetbaggers were typically travelling black men who sold snake oil, etc. out of their carpet bags for the express purpose of fleecing the white man.

So while I’m not sure that it’s considered a racist term everywhere in the south, his usage of it made me laugh out loud…considering his comments about western Pennsylvania recently.

jedijson on October 29, 2008 at 12:27 AM

Keep talking, a-hole.

Just keep f’ing talking.

There’s a special spot in hell waiting for S.O.B.s like you.

Hawkins1701 on October 29, 2008 at 12:34 AM

John “Code Pinker” Murtha has a freakin heckava lot of nerve calling Russell a carpetbagger. Two years ago, when hundreds of Pennsylvanians (like me) gathered in Johnstown for a Boot Murtha rally, he brought in Georgian Max Cleland and New Yorker Bob Carey, fellow vets that day to hold a counter rally. (I guess Michigian / Arkansawian / New Yorker Hillary Clinton wasn’t available. Oh, that’s right, she wasn’t a veteran and Murtha was then running against a Pennsylvanian woman, Diane Irey.) Now a Gulf War, Bosnia, and Iraq War veteran, who had visited PA and decided to settle there is running against Murtha, I guess the latter will drag his fellow Code Pinker lowlife Jim McDermitt in from Virginia. He can attest to the fact Russell was in Virginia, the district he represents, inside the Pentagon on 9/11 the day it was attacked and therefore ineligible to be elected 7 years later to represent the 12th District. Some carpetbagger. Sheesh.

Sergeant Tim on October 29, 2008 at 1:13 AM

Here-I haven’t done this for awhile:
Term limits. Term Limits. Term Limits!
The Murthas and Reids of Washington hang on WAAAAAAY beyond their freshness date because they can. If they were forced to leave Washington and get honest work after two terms, we might just be able to make a dent in this “Fixing Washington” thing.

Doug on October 29, 2008 at 1:37 AM

BTW, Bob Carey is the President of the New School in NYC (no Dorothy, he’s not in Kansas anymore).

Sergeant Tim on October 29, 2008 at 1:40 AM

Murtha reminds me of the guy on “Used Cars”
“I’m Roy B Fuchs G’D it.”

Fires1 on October 29, 2008 at 2:34 AM

I’m sure someone else has pointed out the irony of a northerner accusing a southerner of being a carpetbagger, but in case they haven’t already I’ll do that right now.

Tacitus_SGL on October 29, 2008 at 2:36 AM

If Murtha has such a problem with carpetbaggers, perhaps he’ll speak out against the junior Senator “representing” my state…Illinois.

ynot4tony2 on October 29, 2008 at 6:37 AM

Murtha is a loudmouthed bullying bastard who accused Marines of the most heinous of crimes and who is now facing lawsuits from those same Marines.

How anyone in Pennsylvania could want to keep a clown like this in office is beyond me, because even if he wins, he will be publicly disgraced and humiliated by those lawsuits and may be eventually forced out of office.

So why go through all that bother now?

Vote this jerk out next Tuesday!

pilamaye on October 29, 2008 at 7:17 AM

Isn’t that old thief being sued by one of the Haditha Marines? Maybe he loses twice, nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.

TugboatPhil on October 28, 2008 at 10:34 PM

Yep, and one is going to be our next Senator. The first carpetbagger I remember as governor of my Virginia was Chuck Robb. The son-in-law of LBJ, he really fell in to obscurity.

abcurtis on October 29, 2008 at 8:17 AM

jedijson on October 29, 2008 at 12:27 AM

That’s interesting. Being a native Virginian, I was taught it was the white men from up north who came south to swindle and take land from plantation owners, who could not pay the taxes on it. Around here, a carpetbagger is any obnoxious Yankee, somebody who comes in from outside, takes up permanent residence, and proceeds to tell us about the paradise he left to come to the Hell that is Virginia.
And dont flame me, I married a Yankee. (Had to go out of state to find a woman who would have me)

abcurtis on October 29, 2008 at 8:24 AM

Carpetbagger?

John Murtha, born June 17, 1932, New Martinsville, West Virginia.

Sergeant Tim on October 29, 2008 at 8:28 AM

abcurtis on October 29, 2008 at 8:24 AM

I’m native Virginian also, and your meaning for carpetbagger is my understanding of the word too.

petefrt on October 29, 2008 at 8:49 AM

I would normally remind everyone that this district evidently likes Murtha because they keep voting for him.

With the rampant voter fraud I’ll no longer use that line with any Dem who continues to win elections and no one knows why.

macummings on October 29, 2008 at 9:09 AM

Waitaminute…didn’t Hillary move to NY – a state she had never resided in – just so she could run for a Senate seat? If Lt. Col. Russell is a “carpetbagger”, what is Hillary – just a “bag”?

uncivilized on October 28, 2008 at 8:45 PM

Don’t pick on Hillary, she did no more than Bobby Kennedy.

Wade on October 29, 2008 at 9:32 AM

This Murtha clown needs to realize that a carpetbagger is a “goddamn Yankee!” It was yankee scum who came down South and committed more rape, plunder and murder after the “goddamned yankee army” left in 1865!

If the people of Pennsylvania re-elect this racist a—hole they need to have there “goddamn” heads examined!

Confederate on October 29, 2008 at 9:46 AM

If they in Western Penn choose to re-elect this man, their bad.

Repubtallygirl on October 29, 2008 at 11:18 AM

There is nothing more repulsive than a politician who has become so engorged with the power that comes with the certainty of re-election

It makes me think of King Herod who died eaten by worms. In the last days of the power-glutton politician when newcomers start nibbling at their heels, they lash out like cornered leprous pit bulls

They all look alike, red faced, bloated, scowling. The situation molds what is left of the original man into a beast who has lost perspective of what it is to be a man, a good man.

The guy lives by the fist. He will probably die not by the fist but of liver, gout or clogs

I never heard of black carpetbaggers. They were the white Yankees who moved down to take advantage of the South when Southerners were restricted and under military control. It was the Carpetbagger who would be allowed to sell beef or sugar to the occupiers, who took over land confiscated for tax or penalties, who bought at auction the forfeit items and played the freed blacks against the vanquished whites. If there was a period when freed blacks aggravated southern whites, that ended as the occupiers moved out, and carpetbaggers can take some credit for making sure race relations settked down to the worse possible steady state.

I do not understand why Murtha uses redneck as an insult. The red neck was the burnt neck of a man who walked a mule team to plow from morning to night. The red neck is the badge of a man who works until his hands are hardened leather and his face lined by the elements and poverty. These men touch my heart.

Now the red face of a bloviating politician, that is disgusting

entagor on October 29, 2008 at 11:27 AM

Oh my I can’t believe John Murtha is almost using cuss words now. What will he do next say something bad about the people of Pennsylvania?

kanda on October 29, 2008 at 11:53 AM

Murtha seems unable to figure out what he feels about “carpetbaggers”

RDuke on October 29, 2008 at 12:13 PM
