McCain ad: “Tiny”

posted at 4:01 pm on October 28, 2008 by Ed Morrissey
Share on Facebook | printer-friendly

Team McCain hits Barack Obama again on foreign policy in their latest 30-second spot.  “Tiny” focuses on Obama’s stumble earlier this year on Iran, scoffing at the notion that it presented any danger to the US. Within 24 hours, though, Obama had to reverse himself after getting hammered by Hillary Clinton and John McCain:

Iran. Radical Islamic government. Known sponsors of terrorism. Developing nuclear capabilities to generate power, but threatening to eliminate Israel.

Obama says Iran is a “tiny” country, “doesn’t pose a serious threat.”

Terrorism, destroying Israel, those aren’t “serious threats?” Obama — dangerously unprepared to be President.

Here’s the video of the original incident:

Small wonder Nicolas Sarkozy considers Obama naive and dangerous. Team McCain hopes that Florida voters will come to the same conclusion after watching this ad. They should consider running this in Pennsylvania and Ohio as well.

Funny he mentioned Kennedy and Krushchev. Didn’t Krushchev own the dangerously unprepared Kennedy:

Kennedy’s assessment of his own performance was no less severe. Only a few minutes after parting with Khrushchev, Kennedy, a World War II veteran, told James Reston of The New York Times that the summit meeting had been the “roughest thing in my life.” Kennedy went on: “He just beat the hell out of me. I’ve got a terrible problem if he thinks I’m inexperienced and have no guts. Until we remove those ideas we won’t get anywhere with him.”

A little more than two months later, Khrushchev gave the go-ahead to begin erecting what would become the Berlin Wall. Kennedy had resigned himself to it, telling his aides in private that “a wall is a hell of a lot better than a war.” The following spring, Khrushchev made plans to “throw a hedgehog at Uncle Sam’s pants”: nuclear missiles in Cuba. And while there were many factors that led to the missile crisis, it is no exaggeration to say that the impression Khrushchev formed at Vienna — of Kennedy as ineffective — was among them.

WHen one compares the political histories of John F. Kennedy and Barack Obama, one is struck by how long the seemingly young Kennedy held federal elective office before seeking the Presidency, and how short a time Barack Obama held office before his seeking of that same high office.

If by fate we see the Iranian measure of Barack Obama, we almost certainly will not like it.

Mr_Magoo on October 28, 2008 at 4:38 PM

That’s actually far lower than is the rule and from what I gather, he’s continuing to hemorrhage Jewish voters. Problem is, the Jewish community in the US, especially those who are older, views itself as progressive and hence they invariably vote Democrat. They’re still fixated on the legacy of FDR and Truman.

Dennis Pragar spells it out in his book “Think a Second Time”. Basically it is so entrenched in the culture, that to vote anything but democrat is all but unthinkable. Often you would have to give up your family. He explains it from his Jewish point of view. He is disheartened because the conservatives values so much mirror the Jewish values…but the are faithful to a fault to the democrat party.

A lot of people are making the mistake of assuming that Obama is the puppet and not the puppet-master.
