Fred, Huck, NRCC pitch in to help beat Murtha; Update: DCCC rushes ad money to Murtha

They must smell blood because the new ads are coming fast and furious. Here’s Huck’s press release and the new radio spot from Thompson. The NRCC, which is strapped for cash, just put out the following this morning, which tells you everything you need to know about how vulnerable they think the old crank is.
If you’re mulling a donation, now’s the time.
Update: Just a squib from Roll Call, but enough to confirm that this seat is most assuredly in play.

Kick in, so we can kick him out.

I’d almost be happy trading a Murtha loss and a Coleman deafeat of Franken for an Obama Presidency. Almost.
BadgerHawk on October 28, 2008 at 4:29 PM
Something to hang our hats on for Tuesday?
We’ll lose the country, but gosh darnit; we can take out 1 democrat.

Donated to Russell; and donated to the PUMA’s for the OH GOTV efforts this weekend.

I love it!
Geeky yet interesting & informative.

Really needs a “Hit The Road, Jack” or “You’re Fired!” tag at the end. But still great.

Fred and Huck–Good Comination for this area. Adding John Kasich in a spot just might be the final torpedo, unless someone has a better suggestion.

You’re missing the NRCC’s other ad against Murtha, Allah.

I really like that ad. Lord I hope he loses…how can he wein when he’s accused our soldiers of being murderers and calls his own constituents racist rednecks? What the hell is wrong with you, PA? Rusell ought to be 20 ahead…

The same NRCC that pulled money from more conservative congressmen according to Michelle?
Skywise on October 28, 2008 at 4:45 PM
OT: Dow’s up almost 900. What’s up with that? Is the market hopeful now that McCain has pulled within the margin of error again?
aero on October 28, 2008 at 4:46 PM
Murtha’s going down with Obama! LOL!
OSUBuciz1 on October 28, 2008 at 4:47 PM
When is Fitz going to make that same order for Ohio?
Rovin on October 28, 2008 at 4:48 PM
This old moron will probably survive. His constituents are addicts for his pork.
Speedwagon82 on October 28, 2008 at 4:48 PM
You do not believe. *sigh* Stock up on Prilosec, then, because the next 6 days are gonna suck.
ManlyRash on October 28, 2008 at 4:48 PM
Yes. The markests follows the polls. The more Obama was in front the more the markets were tanking. The moment McCain showed a chance of coming back and winning they came back to life and went up almost 1000 points. Investors are scared as hell of an Obama adminsitration. I hope some talking heads on Fox are going to finally say it as it is and not try to put it on some other external signs like a cut in intrest rates.
clemycali on October 28, 2008 at 4:49 PM
Yes. And the Obama campaign and their lackeys will do everything they can to drive the markets back down. Remember…Democrats can only do well when America suffers.

Wine is better darlin’….
kareyk on October 28, 2008 at 4:50 PM
Suspected rate cut tomorrow. A lot of people who know the market are thinking there could be a short bull run, followed by a longer sell-off as 4th quarter numbers come in looking bad.
BadgerHawk on October 28, 2008 at 4:50 PM
Man, I hope Murtha loses!
CP on October 28, 2008 at 4:51 PM
Cavuto mentioned it yesterday.
But there is the caveat. Correlation does not imply causation. So don’t assume stocks up means the market thinks mccain will win.
lorien1973 on October 28, 2008 at 4:51 PM
They gave out the phone number. How much does anyone want to bet that Obamabots will keep spamming this number to prevent real voter-fraud calls from coming in? Just like they did to Stanley Kurtz on the Annenberg files…
Steve Z on October 28, 2008 at 4:52 PM
Funny, they want to attack Democrats, but not support GOP congresswomen like Michele Bachmann
Pussies.

CanadianGuy on October 28, 2008 at 4:54 PM
Fitzgerald as far as I know has no jurisdiciton over Ohio.
William Amos on October 28, 2008 at 4:55 PM
That is not quite news. They were talking about this yestarday.
I say that markets hope that McCain has a chance of winning. But if he loses, which I hope is not going to be the case, dow is going to be down more than 1000 points on 5th of november.
clemycali on October 28, 2008 at 4:56 PM
I think that Michelle exposing the RNCC has now put pressure on them to do something. Fred and Huck step in on their own and I think that forced the RNCC’s hand.
William Amos on October 28, 2008 at 4:56 PM
Nowhere to be seen. Haven’t you learned by now that actually Romney hopes in a McCain defeat? That will clear his bid for another run in 2012.
clemycali on October 28, 2008 at 4:58 PM
Obama administration means a higher capital-gains tax rate and it could mean the end of private retirement accounts. McCain should be pointing to House discussions about throwing everyone into a government pension. Those two things will tank the market.
Wealth: Obama will either spread it around or kill it off. But he’ll still have his–he’s fully invested in…tax-exempt bonds.
BuckeyeSam on October 28, 2008 at 4:58 PM
The numbers might NOT be bad (George Will said as much today, though they certainly won’t be good).
They can’t go that much further on a rate cut though. Another .5 percent? .25 percent? How long before we hit 0?
Skywise on October 28, 2008 at 5:00 PM
Murtha looked out through his fence.
The Rednecks were packed in quite dense.
“How dare you dumb dorks!”
“I’ve given you pork!”
“I’ll get you and spare no expense!”
Limerick on October 28, 2008 at 5:01 PM
He attended an economic roundtable with McCain and others in Cleveland yesterday–one at which, when McCain was introducing the attendees, he introduced Pawlenty (and no one else) with some superlative that I can’t recall.
Besides, do you really think Romney would come off well in ads to constituents in Murtha’s district. As I said above, use John Kasich.
BuckeyeSam on October 28, 2008 at 5:01 PM
Looks as though the DCCC has “earmarked” some money for Rep. Murtha…so to speak.
Blaise on October 28, 2008 at 5:02 PM
I would love to donate, particularly since I know the useless of the pork he’s spread up there in the Johnstown area. However, the donor site requires you to check that you’re not a government contractor. Maybe Obama’s myrmidoms can do that, but I can’t
RedinPDRM on October 28, 2008 at 5:03 PM
I feel for the good Americans of Pennsylvania. I hope the best for them.
For the ones who support Murtha? They can go to he(double hockey sticks).
madmonkphotog on October 28, 2008 at 5:03 PM
I was thinking that Romney would be much more helpfull on explaining the markets not to talk against Murtha. Huckabee is much on Murtha’s constituents like. Country guy that worked his way up. He’s although likebele.
clemycali on October 28, 2008 at 5:05 PM
an Obama gf story that is juicy, you’d think, would atleast have as much of an affect as the Bush DUI story, heck why hasn’t his Cocaine use come up?

Then he’s royally farked, because McCain will win. He may try a run against Sarah in the Repub primaries in 2012, but he’ll get destroyed. The branch of Republicanism to which Romeny belongs is dying off.

And Mitt was with a cadre of economic advisors with McCain yesterday.

He came late in the game. He should have been all over Nevada and Colorado and leading the a victory comitee. He is not the most avid campaigner for the McCain-Palin ticket.
And maybe ManlyRush is wright. Now that he sees that McCain really can pull this off tries to look like part of the winning team. That after people in the media close to him trashed Sarah Palin as much as they could.

dugan on October 28, 2008 at 5:27 PM
I have been very harsh on Mitt Romney for months now but I dont see that he isnt working to back McCain and Palin.
That said Mitt does need to flush a lot of his worthless staff. They are poisoning the well for him and the GOP.
The best thing Mitt can do to prove he doesnt agree with those tactics is to start dumping people who are doing this.
William Amos on October 28, 2008 at 5:28 PM
I know, I know…you just live there, right?
ManlyRash on October 28, 2008 at 5:29 PM
You have no idea what you are talking about. He has done every single thing McCain asked of him.
He cannot go campaign on his own without McCain’s approval. If McCain choose not to use him that is not Romney’s fault.
Elizabetty on October 28, 2008 at 5:30 PM
Donated to Russell. Hope he wins and Murtha is defeated.

The bluebloods who supported Romney (for whatever reason)seem to have bailed, not only on him, but on the republicans in general. The business backers are still around, and are definitely needed in the future. The one glaring weakness McCain has right now is the anti-business stance he takes. That needs to be adjusted.

Terrye on October 28, 2008 at 6:01 PM
Time to not only put a nail in the coffin of Murtha’s political career but also a chance to rattle some cages nationally against the Dems.
We need a commercial which starts by showing the statements made by Murtha, against the Marines, the racist and the redneck comments and then make the point that this is somebody the Democrats feel worthy of protecting by rushing to his rescue.

Why are they shocked that a Dem seat might be in play? Murtha’s said some stupid things, and the Dem congress only has a 12% approval rating.
More seats should be vulnerable not less.
We’re being subjected to a massive psy-op by the Obamabots. Just check Hillbuzz. The Obamabots flooding the polls, especially the online ones, in an effort to skew the polls and demoralize us. They are trying to actively suppress the Republican/Conservative vote by making the election seem like its a done deal and all is lost. Its not, and we can actually win.

Just saw a piece on Murtha on Brit’s show on Fox. In it Murtha is talking to a reporter and he calls Russell a G_D carpet bagger in full anger mode and red faced.
Here is my question media. I continually hear about how McCain is supposed to have a temper, he is a loose cannon just waiting to go off, and I have never seen that through this whole campaign, even though he has had plenty of reason to be angry, so will you tell us about how what an angry old man Murtha is and foul mouthed to boot?
