I love Ms. West she did a bang up job. Imagine if the clip that came out late last night had been available and she played it for Biden and asked, you mean to tell the American people that this is not pure Marxism? Have you no shame Senator?
But at least Ms. West got the conversation talking on Marxism, and the talking heads who poohpoohed it yesterday, now have their credibility in ashes due to words from the horse’s mouth.

I worked in a newsroom in an area that was more red than blue. Actions and letters like this force them to at least take note.

As much as they would like to they cannot ignore the public, especially with profit margin at many newspapers dropping like the Dow.

I highly suggest calling in and voicing your support for Barbara West and actual journalism when it comes to interviewing presidential candidates.

This is an excellent point: There are a lot of people – even in America – who are stupid enough to believe this kind of crap.

You can blame it on the schools, lead-based paint, etc… But all of those are only partial answers. In America today, true political terms – with real definitions – have all been forbidden from public dialogue as dirty words. When this guy says the word “Fascist”, is he referring to a 1930’s Italian political movement? Of course not; he means the same thing my three-year-old means when she says “poopie head.”

The same terms (right vs. left) that were used in the old, rabid arguments between Socialist collectivists and Communist collectivists are now warped into the argument between free enterprise supporters and collectivists. Try to explain to him what the various combinations of letters actually mean or even, at the very least, try to politely point out to him that he probably should confine his public coments to subjects more along the lines of sports and soap operas and what happens – he throws a screaming fit.

But this can’t be explained by mere stupidity. There have always been dumb people in the world. The difference in the past 50 years has been the prevelence of mass media and its need to service the egos of the least common denominator. There is a REASON they substitute catch-phrases for defined terms – and even go so far as to treat the use of defined political terms as if they were profanity.

When real words are used, dumb people feel left out. As long as the discussion is strictly limited to catch-phrases (fuzzy and ill-defined terms like like ‘liberal’ and ‘conservative’) then all that matter are the FEELINGS which have become attatched to sounds people make with their mouths. That way everyone gets to have an equally valid opinion. Sports, soap operas, politics, nuclear fusion and global weather patterns – it’s all one big, happy shouting match.

This will be the first firearm I’ve ever fired, much less owned, save a couple of trips with low-caliber hunting guns when I was in my teens. I’ve got three or four of the folks at church helping me out though, so I’m confident I’ll have all the advice I need to get where I need to go. And thanks for the support, it was much due to you people here and the things I’ve learned since first coming here that convinced me that the time has come for me to take this step. :)

Since when is it a bad thing to stand behind your ideals?
Since when is it a good thing to compromise those ideals?

There are many factions in our nation, and there are two major political parties with, in many cases, diametrically opposed ideals and agendas.
How has it become a good thing to compromise on, say, an unborn child’s right to life? Or national security? Or the strict interpretation of our Constitution?

I find it chilling that the conversation in our country has ceased to be about a refusal to compromise on certain fundamentals, and has turned instead into how we can best go about compromising them.

Sorry barry, but everybody knows that Nazis were socialist, that’s what the “s” in Nazis stood for. That puts them on the left on the American spectrum no matter what the lefties at the media say.
