Video: Megyn Kelly, Obama spokesman go nuclear over Fox News and the redistribution tape

posted at 6:33 pm on October 27, 2008 by Allahpundit
Share on Facebook | printer-friendly

Time for the daily combative Kelly interview, featuring muppet-ish Obama spokestool Bill Burton in his recurring role. The beauty of this clip is how it ties the day’s two stories together in a bow. Got a question about The One’s penchant for socialist rhetoric? Then prepare to have your motives challenged and maybe your access cut off, on top of the abuse you’ll take once his vicious little cultists get involved. Just ask “extreme hate monger” David Freddoso.

She came ready to play, though, didn’t she? The polling stats flow effortlessly! Exit quotation: “You may have the rest of the media in the tank, but Fox News reports it straight.”

All they do is run out the clock. They know there is only a limited amount of time and if they keep talking about ANYTHING ELSE other than the question at hand, they will at least come out even in the end. (And prevent any more embarassing questions coming up during that segment.) It is all about time and running out the clock.

I may get ripped for this but I think Megyn Kelly is much more Thatcher-esque than Governor Palin.

And by the way, GO PHILLIES!

Those tools in the Obama campaign are getting AWFULLY cocky. I hope they all end up in the loony bin, where they belong, on Nov. 5.

HornetSting on October 27, 2008 at 7:36 PM

Megyn Kelly is one of the best reporters out there period.

On the Duke rape case she was the one that was always ahead of all the other reporters. She knew what that Obama idiot was going to do – he just filabusters the minutes away with nonsense to avoid the answering the question.

Its becoming clear an Obama presidency is going to accuse any reporter of rascism then threaten the reporter and the station, and then legislate them out of existance with the Fairness Doctrine.

We live in scary times.

ALLAH and ED–get the audio from Mark Levin’s show. he is eviscerating a prof from New School who is behind the proposal to take 401k plans

It’s absolutely INSANE

all about how rich people don’t “need” the tax break; the government is “losing” tax revenue that it is owed; he is relentless…..

funky chicken on October 27, 2008 at 7:41 PM

Margaret Thatcher is stiff, upper lip British personified. British politicians are much more direct and biting towards each other than American politicians. (Just watch one of their free-for-alls when the PM goes before Parliament to answer questions.) Sarah is more down to Earth, and must be more careful about what she says although she is not afraid to let it go. Different bakcgoround, different political culture. Megyn is certainly a trained lawyer and builds her case appropriately and bores in to make her point without letting her prey off the hook (unless she runs out of time.) Three tough women, very different in style but willing to dish it and take it as well. They show more guts and determination for their cause than most men in similar positions.

jerseyman on October 27, 2008 at 7:42 PM

I think this guy says what he says just so Megyn will get ruff with him. I wouldn’t be surprised if this guy has a ball gag and a collar in his briefcase.

I see only two ways for their to be parity in wealth. Tear the upper class down or build the lower class up. I think that the latter, while more difficult, puts the task where it belongs. We are the land of opportunity, get out there and make some on your own, don’t take mine. I give enough though current taxes that support all the failed social programs of today and the last forty years. We have immigrants come here from all over the world with NOTHING and they make a successful and prosperous life here. And we have those that have been failing for forty years with all the help and money that the Government and us have been willing to throw at them, and they wasted it. Shit to bad, Joe! It is time for us to realize that there is a large portion of the populace that are just failures and no amount of money thrown that them is going to change that, only they can. Offer them a ticket to a better place and be done. My new motto: Cuba – why not. It has income redistribution, free health care, it’s already Marxist (no need to change anything) and a tropical climate. Now here is your ticket, shut up!

rgranger on October 27, 2008 at 7:46 PM

Love Megyn Kelly!!!

Everytime there is some legitimate news story that shines the light onto who Obama really is, the Obama camp hammers away at Fox. They try to discredit Fox so people won’t watch and find out the truth. It’s getting old.

artchick on October 27, 2008 at 8:08 PM

Megyn…as far as I’m concerned, she is “The One”….

…and Bill…the dough-faced Bill…a walking, talking bumper sticker that won’t quit quoting himself…and better left stuck to a bumper somewhere….

…fake controversies? Try Palin’s wardrobe….

…imagine…a provocative recorded statement is found and aired, and the motives of the network are called into question…so’s we don’t actually get around to discussing the statement itself….

…imagine doughfaced Bill actually having a place in federal governance…chilling indeed….

Puritan1648 on October 27, 2008 at 8:10 PM

Very dangerous ground he’s treading, telling us what the American people think are important issues, when the issues that might be important to them are decried before they ever come out. If Obama was another liberal I wouldn’t be so worried, his changes can be undone, but when the media becomes another branch of the government as it will if Obama is elected we head toward Stalinist Russia, fascist Germany, or totalitarian 1984.

I love that FOX news = McCain infomercial. I guess MSNBC is an Obama running of Cats.

Iceman on October 27, 2008 at 8:10 PM

Yeah, we are concerned about the economy and national security.
We are also worried about a SOCIALIST taking our money and giving it to those that don’t deserve it…oh, and giving us 20 to 40 million other “mouths to feed” with his open borders. YEAH, WE’RE WORRIED ABOUT IT. Thank you, you douchebag.

…first of all, we can thank the God who slew Pharoah’s army that you don’t have Ms. Kelly’s microphone under you nose, as I doubt you’d be able to “shut her down”….

…Mr. Obama’s has been on the network, but would rather skulk over among the folks in the tank for him…NBC, etc….

…as to her attitude problem, it seems to spring from an attitude that what is newsworthy belongs on a news network, and that a candidate’s minions should be able to answer questions…not just regurgitate boilerplate party position papers…not being too quick on the uptake apparently, I presume that Mr. Burton has problems answering direct questions with original thoughts….

…there ya go, spunky…news analysis…fair and balanced….

Puritan1648 on October 27, 2008 at 8:14 PM

Megyn is a goddess!!!! It is just a shame that not even one of the network is likely to pay attention to this valid issue.

I’ll ask you, a supposed libertarian, why are my fellow libertarians supporting this $hithead Obama? Tax cuts? How exactly are you giving tax cuts to 95% of Americans when 35% don’t pay a dime in taxes or get money back?! REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH. When it comes to the libertarian ideal, John McCain fails. But when the same light is cast on Obama, it becomes an EPIC FAIL! No way, no how, NOBAMA! At least McCain’s Veep has a hint of libertarian in her. You know, I don’t really care for how O’Reilly just cuts off the microphone of a guest, but this sort of thing is a pretty good example of when that option’s needed. NeverLiberal on October 28, 2008 at 1:41 AM

EVERY time some Obama shill speaks the words “95% …tax cut,” they should immediately get the follow up question, “So does that mean that Obama is going to make the Bush tax cuts permanent?” See he doesn’t think that allow that to lapse is an increase. And the question after that, “So how are you going to offset that increase for ALL taxpayers, as that cut will affect almost every tax payer.” (Married, filing jointly, $75K joint salary, means a $3000 tax increase if Bush tax cuts repealed.) He can call it anything he wants, but you still have to write the check.

skeeter on October 28, 2008 at 1:45 AM

I hate to rain on anyone’s parade…but I think Burton won that particular engagement.

He never addressed the question, he merely attacked Fox News and got Megyn Kelly very spun up. And that was the end of the probing right there.

She got hot-headed and let him off easy on the real issue, while taking the booby prize of defending Fox’s honor.

Attacking the messenger doesn’t work when the interviewer stays on point…

its_a_trap on October 27, 2008 at 7:26 PM

I disagree. “Stanley” made the issue FOX news’ reputation. Megyn had him on to address that.

1) Megyn nailed him because he was attacking FOX and not his candidate who actually made the comment.

2) Megyn proved McCain had mentioned the interview after “Stanley” lied and said he had not.

3) Megyn proved that this story was all over the news and the internet.

4) “Stanley” realized that attacking FOX was going nowhere and needed to change the subject. He pivoted to what McCain said about the tape and thus ADMITTED that McCain actually HAD talked about the audio tape already.

5) Megyn got him back on the subject of “Stanley’s” constant whining about FOX news’ coverage of Obama.

6) She then hung him on his own petard by quoting polls chapter and verse that totally proved him to be a lying sack of $hit.

7) “Stanley” tried to pivot off the subject and she pushed him until he became increasingly erratic to the point where he started attacking her personally as giving a political speech.

That is just the basics. The people who watch FOX are not stupid. “Stanley” was exposed as a petty whining liar.

csdeven on October 28, 2008 at 2:12 AM

If only McCain responded half as well as Megyn in the debates, he would be leading now. That 95% tax cut means that Obama’s going to make 5% pay for his expanded social programs.

It’s clear what the conservative problem is: we can’t cleanly draw the line as to what should be a function of government and what shouldn’t. This is a gray area silver-tongued politicians like Obama & Biden can win (i.e., swing voters).

Unless we get crystal clear (and we can) we can kiss America goodbye.

(Hint: America is about unrepentant property ownership, and that is a GOOD thing.)

Quetzal on October 28, 2008 at 2:16 AM

Bill Burton exhibited a common trait and behaviorism of left wing, liberal, Democrat, Barrack Obama shills, that of attacking those who speak truth to power, and interrupting and talking over opposite points of view, drowning them out with their voice, even raising their own voices if need be, in order to censor opposing points of view.

Nevertheless, according to polls, roughly 1/2 the population polled actually have been duped and are falling for the ignorant, arrogant, disrespectful, speech muzzling, hate filled, class envy promoting, race mongering, self centered, malicious movement that is the Barrack Obama/Joseph Biden, leftist, liberal monolithic beast.

William2006 on October 28, 2008 at 3:14 AM

The tone of Burton’s last words was “We’ll be coming after you when Obama wins.” I find that rather interesting in itself.

Honestly, would you say that about O’Reilly or Levin for going after someone like that? For some reason, I think not.

I guess we know who will be the first target of the Fairness Doctrine.

Who will they hit first. Rush Limbaugh or Fox News.

If they have the opportunity,, the next Fairness Doctrine will outlaw free speech just about everywhere.
I expect it to incorporate some kind of National Truth Squad rapid response team.

I’ve noticed AP is a little less–a LITTLE less–undermining of McCain’s campaign lately. Could it be it finally hit the HA staff that a “President Obama” would put them out of a job?

Some of the MSM are beginning to realize they have created a monster. Most won’t come around and start with the “woe is me” and “what have we done” and “we failed as journalists” until Obama and the dems have pretty much ruined this country.

Is Burton “mixed race” like Obama? His hair looks a little “nappy”? Is he black? Just wondering.

On hot button issues like this one all the dems have are overused talking points and a loud voice. They will never address the question directly (because the can’t).
