Video: Jessen responds

posted at 12:10 pm on October 27, 2008 by Ed Morrissey

Gianna Jessen says she’s survived worse than the attacks directed at her from the Barack Obama campaign, and she’s not kidding. Jessen survived an abortion and was fortunate enough to receive medical care, while Obama voted four times against a law that would have required doctors in Illinois to end their practice of abandoning infants that survived abortion with no medical care. After Jessen pointed out Obama’s record, Team Obama came gunning for her, and she responds today:

Seen this ad? In it, Senator Obama personally attacks me. I’ve dealt with worse; I survived an abortion. State Senator Barack Obama voted 4 times against laws to protect babies who survive abortions. Meanwhile, U.S. Senators voted 98-0 for Born Alive Infant Protections. Senator Obama says deciding when babies get human rights is above his pay grade. Tell him abortion survivors deserve legal protections too.

Senator Obama has attempted to cover up his abysmal voting record, saying that there were already protections in IL state law for babies born alive after abortions. However, existing laws had loopholes and the IL Attorney General at the time determined the practice of abandoning infants born alive during late-term abortions was not covered by the law.

Obama had several chances to close that loophole in IL law and give babies like Gianna the necessary medical care they need to survive after a failed abortion, but he didn’t do it. In fact Obama voted against bills to close the loophole.

What kind of President would Obama be if he refuses to give infants basic human rights?

What kind of President? In terms of abortion, the most radical President in American history.  He has already told Planned Parenthood that one of his top priorities in his administration will be signing the Freedom of Choice Act, which will essentially federalize all aspects of the abortion issue.  It will eliminate any restrictions at the state level, even those that have survived the scrutiny of the Supreme Court.  FOCA will also repeal the Hyde Amendment and restart federal funding for abortions.

Obama likes to speak in soothing tones about abortion, claiming that “no one is pro-abortion” while promising radical change on behalf of the abortion industry — which is what Planned Parenthood represents and to a large extent comprises.  His record on the bills Jessen references shows how radical he is.  While the Illinois AG told the legislature that the existing law could not be enforced, Obama actively blocked efforts to rewrite it so that abortionists could not simply stuff living infants into closets for them to die from neglect.

I’d encourage those new to this issue to read my previous posts on the subject:

One of the …. amusing… parts of Obamas stance on abortion…

He was VERY lucky his Father was Moslem, and could Marry multiple women (in his eyes), or Barry’s Mom may have very well gotten an abortion… as out of wedlock birth of a multi racial child back then would have been a serious “burden”…

Romeo13 on October 27, 2008 at 12:19 PM

And this is where all these “conservative” pundits show their true stripes. Obama wants no restrictions on abortion. Protecting innocent life is one of the undiscardable conservative principles. And so whenever a Kathleen Parker or a Christopher Buckley notes they are supporting Obama, you can read between the lines that these columnists are not true conservatives.

Obama will appoint activist judges who will thwart any attempt by the citizens of states to enact legislatively any restrictions on abortion, and will (with the help of the Democratic controlled congress) pass laws that remove any current ones.

This cannot go un-noted. Obama is the most radical candidate on the issue of life that this country has seen. And who has taken the time to point this out? Very few.

One thing that worries me. Is as a courier, I pick up deposits for companies. One of them is planned parenthood. I hate that organization. I fear that my boss might give me that stop. If he does, then I have to stand on my beliefs. I will tell him, I don’t go to a place where abortion is just like doing the dishes. I keep fingers crossed because my job is important. But I have my beliefs. At times it is necessary for abortions. But planned parenthood gives abortion as first choice. Don’t have sex unless you take birth control. Just aborting a baby because one has no regard for human life is not right!!

Oh, you laugh now Mr. Architect… I predict that President Obama will govern in the Chavez/Mugabe model, except without the physical violence and coups and so forth. I had a coworker that got an abortion. Before she got it, I spoke to her about adoption and mentioned the long waiting list for babies.

Her response:

“Oh, I don’t think I could do that to my baby. It seems wrong to just hand my own flesh and blood off to some strangers and hope that they are abusive psychos.”

If abortion = good but adoption = bad isn’t doublethink, I don’t know what is.

rockmom on October 27, 2008 at 12:36 PM

Omama, the follower of Christ.

Take note all the hypocrites that claim to follow Christ, and fall into the same lie as Obama. People can be deceived to believe that voting against Republicans that support life is actually voting for some feel good cause more important than allowing children to survive a painful, nameless death.

Obama is fine with 25% of American babies never having seen their mother. Babies are a burden according to him, as will be the elderly, the handicapped and probably just about anyone that stands against his new order.

Obama is an absolute ghoul. I’m also glad to see the Catholic leadership weighing in forcefully on this issue.

I wish only that evangelicals would follow the lead of their Catholic brethren. I think these evangelicals such as Jim Wallis who back Obama merely because he may fund their outreach are toads. Churches shouldn’t be dependent on the government teat. In fact, they ought to be thankful for the tax-exempt status that they enjoy. And that will very likely be short-lived in an Obama administration unless the are willing to welcome and perform gay marriage ceremonies and the like.

Yakko77 on October 27, 2008 at 12:21 PM

It’s great that though you are a borderline atheist you can recognize barbarity when you see it.

But what has stopped the thousands of Americans who are pro-abortion from coming to their senses? They accept the barbarity because they want their precious power to choose at any cost. It’s nothing short of a human sacrifice uppn an altar set up to worship self.

God by His grace has given you, though you don’t deserve it (none of us do), a measure of wisdom. Fortunately for those who can’t defend themselves God has given you in that measure of wisdom the ability to see the horror and injustice in abortion.

I was once catholic and grew disgruntled with religious hypocrisy within Rome and main stream christianity in general. I too walked that borderline fence for awhile.

By God’s grace he introduced me to the doctrines of grace and also opened my eyes so I could see the truth.

Have you ever looked into reformed theology taught by such as John Calvin? When I did, it exposed many inconsistent beliefs that I held tightly to.

It’s a mistake they learn too late.

JadeNYU on October 27, 2008 at 12:35 PM

I think you’re co-worker was lying to you. People choose abortion over adoption for one reason. People who give babies away are trash, horrible people, and that child may show up at you’re doorstep 20 years or so later wanting love, attention and answers, but with an abortion they can secretly take care of the problem with no damage to their reputation, and no need to have to explain their actions to the child some time in the future.

Any Catholic who votes for Barack X should be condemned and excommunicated. And Kmeic’s excommunication should be broadcast on tv.

PimFortuynsGhost on October 27, 2008 at 1:27 PM

Most women who undergo abortions undergo one because they are coerced into getting one. Boyfriend, husband, mother, father, pimp force them to get one by threatening to abandon or not support them if they have the baby. And they never forget the baby that they aborted. Ever. Freedom of choice, my ass. Some choice.

Pro-Obama Catholic claims pro-lifers adhere to ‘pelvic theology’

I think I prefer that more than black liberation theology.

Dr.Cwac.Cwac on October 27, 2008 at 2:06 PM

These people need to have video of a newborn baby in a box with a voice over stating that Obama voted 4 times to allow doctors to abandon that baby on a shelf to die. Maybe draw back the camera and fade to black with crying baby sounds at the end of the voice over.

Nothing like video of a newborn to drive home how little he values human life.

It is incredibly ironic that of all his radical positions and beliefs from his pre-Presidential past the only one Obama seems unwilling to modify or jettison is support for the one program that might offer proof of the white supremacist effort to suppress blacks that seems to be the key belief binding Obama and all his Chicago radical pals. Ample evidence exists that the roots of the abortion rights movement were based on actual and explicit racism against blacks. Sanger and her cohorts made no bones of the fact that the eugenic aspects of birth control and abortion would be aimed at restricting the growth of the black population. Statistics showing the overrepresentation of blacks in abortions indicate they have been somewhat successful in their plans.
The black community has invested a great deal in Obama’s success, but I wonder if any of them have stopped to ponder his incredible devotion to unlimited abortions and what it means for them.
Earlier this year I came across a few blog posts that talked about genealogical records showing that Obama senior was in fact 7/8 ths Arab. At the time I dismissed them as wingnut versions of the moonbat school of attack, but now I find myself hoping that they may someday proved to be true. If Obama is elected our first “black” President, his Presidency will be such a disaster that we may not see another black presidential candidate for a generation or more. It would be the sweetest of ironies, if all the deceit, corruption, malfeasance, and thuggery perpetrated to elect him would have succeeded in providing our first Arab-American President, whose only unabandonable principle was the real government supported genocide against blacks that Rev. Wright has been claiming the AIDS epidemic was.

There is only one thing you need to know about Senator Obama to NOT vote for him, but I’ll give you two so you can pick which one is enough:

1. Vote against infants born alive act
2. Brother lives in hut on $12 a year and he made $4.2 million last year

Take your pick… either points to him as one of the vilest creatures living.

It will eliminate any restrictions at the state level, even those that have survived the scrutiny of the Supreme Court.

Might not the Dupemes, excuse me, the Supreme Court have something to say about that? I’m sure there will be couple of quick retirements from the court if Obama is elected, but it might take a little while anyway. You never know with Kennedy. Am I wrong that he tends to write more conservative opinions in matters such as eminent domain, while more liberal in a lot of the “social issues?” Wouldn’t it be great if he would get a bad case of the balance of power blues, and start getting his back up whenever Obama tries to muscle the court around? I’m looking forward to some incendiary opinions from Scalia, if and when Obama starts up with his radical plans for the court (G-d forbid!).
