One other note on this: the Omar mentioned in this story is also known as “Maulvi Omar” in the Pakistan papers, and he was the top Spokesworm for Baitullah Mehsud to the Pakistan press.

I have to agree with exhelodrvr on the intel: with the Taliban declaring war and working for a separatist state in Pakistan (it truly is now a civil war) they are getting ratted out by disgruntled FATA and NWFP residents more often.

At this point it is probably just a factor of the intelligence. It would be appropriate, though, for as much of this stuff as possible to be done by the current administration no matter who wins the election. That gives the incoming administration more flexibility
