Quote of the day

posted at 10:35 pm on October 27, 2008 by Allahpundit

“Now by ‘smart,’ I don’t refer to a person who is wily or calculating or nimble in the way of certain talented athletes who we admire but suspect don’t really have serious brains in their skulls. I mean, instead, a mind that is thoughtful, curious, with a discernable pattern of associative thinking and insight. Palin asks questions, and probes linkages and logic that bring to mind a quirky law professor I once had. Palin is more than a ‘quick study’; I’d heard rumors around the campaign of her photographic memory and, frankly, I watched it in action. She sees. She processes. She questions, and only then, she acts. What is often called her ‘confidence’ is actually a rarity in national politics: I saw a woman who knows exactly who she is.”

Sounds like a breath of fresh air, as compared to Bush.

Mark Jaquith on October 28, 2008 at 12:08 AM

I would hope and pray after 7 plus years of being beat up by the Dems and the Media that I were half as great a man as President Bush. I think most people would have a different opinion of him if they could see him around the troops. I think most people would have a different opinion of him if they didn’t have to have him presented through the filter of the media who decided over 7 years ago that he stole the election from their guy and they were going to make him pay.

Say what you want, but as my CinC, I love the guy.

It’s a facade of epic proportions and they know it, McPalin is going to grab states which will surprise the crap out of a whole slew of people, and the media will be caught dead in the water.

The more that Obarfy tightens his grip, the more states that slip through his fingers.

Bishop on October 27, 2008 at 11:39 PM

It’s at least possible – that is, it’s a valid working hypothesis – that the urban bias in opinion polling, something that’s as basic even as the ineffecient pseudo-random selection of area codes, has specifically worked to mask Palin’s positives.

On one to one interviews I think she gets irritated with inane questions. And really doesn’t want to answer them at all. She either gets stupid questions or gotcha questions. There have been a couple of interviews if I were her I would of just got up and walked out.

It’s no accident that she’s rarely asked about energy or gun rights. How deep can she look answering questions about newspapers and fashion? Unedited and unrestrained, she holds her own against anyone, certainly either guy on the other ticket.

Ronnie on October 28, 2008 at 12:27 AM

There was a good example of the “genius” Leftist mind at work over there, trying to criticize the part of the article that said Palin’s critics are most often people who haven’t met her by saying that Palin did the same thing when she made stinging speeches about Obama and Biden. Well, it’s a little bit easier to make a speech about a guy who’s been on TV day after day for two years telling us that he wants to be President and another guy who’s been in the national political scene for 30+ years than it is to be knowledgeable about Palin, who’s been on the scene for a few weeks, isn’t it? Palin’s critics had far, far less information about her than she had about Obama and Biden.

The fact that Leftists have not all died of collective stupidity never ceases to amaze me.

venividivici on October 28, 2008 at 12:28 AM

Don’t forget that CNN has spent the last three days pushing a tale about how there is this massive schism going on inside the McCain campaign because Palin has supposedly gone rogue on McCain’s staffers and that she is behaving like some sort of political Diva. (mind you their only proof of this are some unnamed sources within the campaign yet they continue to report the storey as fact)

Dreadnought223 on October 27, 2008 at 11:52 PM

That really didn’t take off though huh? No one seems to be buying…doen’t help that she and John get along so well and that everyone around her eventually grows to love her…I loved watching her with Hannity tonight..Piper was talking to him and Sarah was standing there just beaming at her little girl…very real and very comforting…I’d like to think that is how I look with my daughter…

right on.

This actually captures what the intelligent media is desperately trying to suppress. They are trying and I think the general public know it.

When ever the media tries to catapult an unknown into messiah status and attacks and hides a true phenomenon, you know the jig is up.

Yesterday on my way to lunch at Doe’s, I passed one of the homeless guys in that area, with a sign that read; “Vote Obama, I need the money.”

Once in the Doe’s my waiter had on a “Obama 08″ tee shirt. When the bill came, I decided not to tip the waiter and explained to him while he had given me exceptional service, that his tee shirt made me feel he obviously believes in Senator Obama’s plan to redistribute the wealth. I told him I was going to redistribute his tip to someone that I deemed more in need; the homeless guy outside. He stood there in disbelief and angrily stormed away.

I went outside, gave the homeless guy $3 and told him to thank the waiter inside, as I had decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy looked at me in disbelief but seemed grateful.

As I got in my truck, I realized this rather unscientific redistribution experiment had left the homeless guy quite happy for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn. Well, I guess this redistribution of wealth is going to take a while to catch on with those doing the work.

OT I know, but I just read this on the HCForum and I think it’s a great idea. So Friday I’ll see if I get the opportunity to do this… Lot’s of Obots in L. A.

I feel that the Palin Derangement Syndrome is just Envy:

1. Some are envious of Palin simply because she makes everything she does look easy!! (One of the same reasons that some people envy Condi Rice). People who have few accomplishments or who have not worked up to their potential are particularly affected, as they simultaneously feel guilt as well as envy.

2. Some are enraged because after just a few moments in the room, it is obvious that Palin is actually the smartest person in the room…not them. Those who have an over-inflated view of themselves are most affected.

In either case, the Envy manifests itself in an ugly, irrational hate which is unbecoming and more damaging to the hater than the hated.

Interestingly the number of undecideds in most polls went up after the last debate with most those coming from the Obama column.

Personaly I belive the undecideds will break for McCain puerly because they wiil make a judgment call based on which of them is the most experienced candidate.

Oh God…

As far as Palin, yep it seems Fred Barnes was absolutely correct. The more people like her or meet her the more they appreciate her abilities and qualities for leadership. I’ll just say what I’ve always said; you don’t get 80 percent approval ratings as Governor and be an idiot. You don’t work your way through a states’ political entrenched system taking on and leaving body bags of your political advisories in your own party as well as the other side if you’re are stupid. You don’t solve 40 billion oil deals that give your predecessors nightmares in 2 years if you are retarded.

This media narrative is a damn joke and if People would actually look at her record they would see that.

Yeah, that slippery slope we’re on, once you start losing your footing its pretty much is all over. No one is going to cover anything about BHO and his campaign except Fox News. The press is lost.

The great thing is, once you’re at the bottom on the slope, you can scrape the crap off your shoes and start right back up. We talk a lot here, let’s organize. I am already not spending a single penny of my paycheck on Hollywood. Movies like W are tanking. That hurts a studio. Lets get the word out and make more of that happen. There are a thousand better things to do with your family that go pay to see a movie that funds the pampered liberal crybabies of Hollywood who in turn fund this liberal movement that oppressing everything we stand for. We’re buying the bullets they shoot us with.

Products: I dumped my PC for an IMAC. If you’re inclined and can afford it, do it too. Or if you’re smart with computer install Lunix. That’s what I’m doing with my out laptop. I will not buy a GE product again until MSNBC is tamed.

I will not buy nor subscribe to a magazine from the extreme liberal press.

Resist Unions. Oppose the NEA.

Communicate on line with like-minded Conservatives.

Time for Conservative Grass Roots to change the surface of that slippery slope.

I’ve seen tapes of Palin’s debates in the Alaska Governor’s race, and since she had been watching previous Governors make policy up there for 14 years as Mayor of Wasilla and as a member of the state Oil and Gas board, she was extremely sharp on issues confronting Alaska, and could debate policy minutiae with the best of them–two previous Governors!

She was thrown into the Vice Presidential race barely two months before the election with very little time to get “up to speed” on national issues (which might not affect Alaska), and has had to rely on quick thinking, her gut instincts, and down-home charm to make up for her youth and inexperience relative to Biden.

But she is an amazingly quick study, and very quick to pounce on “unforced errors” from the Gaffemeister from Delaware (or was that Scranton). Win or lose this election, America will be hearing a lot about Sarah Palin for decades to come.

Typical liberal, thinks the only reason the world’s problems haven’t all been solved is because evil people are keeping others under their boot.
