Obama has figured out that all he has to do is gradually nudge up the percentage of voters paying no taxes to 51% and the welfare state will be self-perpetuating and undefeatable in future elections. That percentage is currently in the 30's and is scheduled to go into the 40's under Obama's tax proposals.

Jusr a few more "middle class tax cuts" amd "soak the rich" tax hikes and he should be over the top.

“There are a lot of Democrats who may be elected who’ve made a commitment to their constituents to be centrist.”

Just like when the democrats want to play ball with the republicans for bipartisan cooperation, until it comes to judicial appointments, social security, entitlement cuts,....

Yes, the commitment by the dems is a moral commitment only, they will do what Nancy and Harry tell them to do, " Get in line and get those goose-steps together!".

Well, look at the bright side…when Israel and Iran go to war the day after he is inaugurated, and Russia invades Ukraine soon after, he really won’t have time to do very much on the domestic front.

rockmom on October 27, 2008 at 1:47 PM

Um, during WWII EXECUTIVE orders were used to create the Rationing system, and to Nationalize entire industrys.

We're already seeing the Nationalization of the Banking Industry under a Republican... someone who is supposed to be doing this against his inclinations, do you really think Barry will not use the opportunity provided to further his own agenda is there is a further National Crises?

Don't expect any sudden lurches to the left...except for the Freedom Of Choice Act....and The Fairness Doctrine...and massive tax increases on the wealthy followed by income redistribution...and a 25% cut in military spending...and putting the previous administration on trial.

No, aside from implementing all the things the left has been squawking about for decades, don't expect any lurches to the left.

Obama: Don’t expect any “sudden lurches to the left”

I think the term "lurches to the left" implies their is room to move that direction. Experiment: Place your left shoulder against a wall. Now, try to lurch to the left. How'd that work out?

BTW: all the trolls leave to go forge voter registrations?

there’s at least a chance Obama would govern from the center-left. If either of those things isn’t true, then good luck, America.

First class hopey and changey springs eternal.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________-

I tell you, I had the shock of my life this weekend when my adamantly liberal friends told me.... to make sure and vote for McCain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was so shocked I couldn't even speak!!!!!!!!!!

Sooooooooo...... needless to say, I'm just now headed out to the bank to pay another $65.00 fee to wire a "double up" investment in McCain!!!!!

I'll be damned if I'm missing out on this historic election!!!
The question is how much of my savings should I put in... 50%... or 75%?
By the way.... I did totally cover my initial investment with an outrageous possible come-from-behind, off chance, low cost risk insurance (Hint: it would make our host proud. Can anyone say, "A pair of Eagletons?")

What I'm sure of, is that the Hillary supporters, being the smarter bunch of Democrats, now see Obama as a sure loser and they are voting against (along with 84% of Americans) "spreading the wealth".

- The legal.... citizen plumber who did the job nobody else could do. -

I would love, love to see Joe The Plumber state publicly, that he will accept the write-in election, if the people of Ohio give him a majority.

And with that, - faster than you can say Wurzelbacher... - I'm off to the bank!!!!

How can you, as a party, lurch to the left when you are already as far left as you can get? Obama is THE most liberal Senator. He can't lurch any further left. He's at the wall. Done. Stick a fork in it. Pelosi and Reid are his partners in crime, and with a super majority they will enact policies and make appointments that further damage America.

GET THE VOTE OUT!

I don't believe anything that comes out of Obama's mouth about what he will, or will not do, if enough fools vote to elect him president. Obama has repeatedly demonstrated that he's willing to lie (e.g., I never supported gun bans; I never voted against a law to provide medical care to abortion survivors, etc.), cheat (e.g., having his campaign bypass credit security measures so that he could accept donations from anyone, including foreigners and people who had already donated the legal maximum), and steal (e.g., votes, via his $800,000+ payment to ACORN subsidiary for GOTV efforts, that he lied about in initial filings) to get elected. I prefer to evaluate him on his record (what there is of one), and not on his promises -- and his record sucks.

Well, look at the bright side...when Israel and Iran go to war the day after he is inaugurated, and Russia invades Ukraine soon after, he really won't have time to do very much on the domestic front.

Could it be what Osama Obama meant to say was: "No sodden Lurches" in my administration," meaning John Kerry won't get a job?

/s

Seriously, he'll make the transition to totalitarian Marxism with a strong racial component smooth and easy. It'll take, say, maybe two months to get all the pieces in place.

That waiter has every right to express his/her political opinion when not on the job. Unless the business endorses Obama or it is some sort of an Dem hangout, that waiter is in the wrong to bring politics in the workplace.

I'm with HH on this Sky... the workplace - especially retail and dealing with customers - should not be the place for political show. Not that it stops the libs, mind you: my office is supposed to be politics-free, but there's at least two cubes covered in articles, pictures, cards, etc. of Senator Government that no one's bothered to complain about.

Where is the line? Does it take smoke on the horizon, or in your eyes? I dunno, myself. I just know that there is a place where someone will make that call-out. A spark in a dry corn field.

Nope, you haven't missed anything. Obama is all about redistribution and reparations. He's all about race. There's nothing "post-racial" about Barry.

the half of the nation that is to the right of both candidates will lose all faith in government and take matters into their own hands.

We never have, and we never will...we leave that to the left.
We will pick up the pieces and move along, making the best of the situation, and work to make it better. That is what American's do, the others whine for 8 years.
We will complain, and we will force the issue, but we won't "take to the streets", unless they call us out.

I know you will agree that waiter has every right to express his political opinion. My opinion is that I would refuse to be served by that schmuck, or I would just get up and leave, after telling the management why they lost a customer.

I don’t think we’re going to have time to engage in a bunch of crazy things that people, the McCain campaign specifically, has suggested we might.

Hey, even Bawny Fwank has said 'not right away', (but for sure, yes).
I think they DO recognize the limited time to accomlish his goals.
Witness the break-neck rush of the present dems composing new legislation faster than their fimmers can write them !!

Good googly moogly.
Pray for the USA.

Of course there won’t be a sudden surge. IF he’s elected, the 40-plus-year hijacking of the Democratic party by the Marxists will have been completed without anyone noticing a bloody thing. Nice and smooth, like nothing even happened at all.

G-d forbid…..

It's soft jihad...just like Michael Medved, Daniel Pipes, Mona Charen, and Frank Gaffney discussed at the forum I was at last night. I was deeply disturbed by the thought of a BO administration before going to that forum, now I'm 100 times more so. Google their names, they all have websites. Read their writings. They were all very articulate last night. The enemies of our capitalistic free society are infiltrating in any way they can. God help us. Having said all that, I am confident that the right man will win this election...that being John McCain. We need to do everything in our power to destroy the ideology that wants to destroy our country.
