Finally: The Obama reggae anthem

Fair warning before you click: It’s catchy. You might awake tomorrow morning with the words “All the Christians in America…” echoing in your ears.

And that echo might never leave.

How many utopian Messiah tribute songs framed implicitly or explicitly as prayers are there? The allusions to the Lord’s Prayer makes this the third I’m aware of, but there must be more.

Off topic but equally touching, Barry calls his typical white person “Toot”, I wonder if grandad is “Choomba”?

“She’s doing OK, up and down. But we are just grateful that he took time off and went to see her,” Michelle Obama responded. She said her husband credited his grandmother, whom he calls “Toot,” with teaching him strength.

I keep hoping somewhere, somehow, a normal person will come out and give me a good reason to vote for Obama. Why is it that everyone who comes out for Obama is a freak?

Yeah I know what you mean. I say that American conservatives should start making country music videos concerning the presidential election in France next go round. We could vote in polls how cool it would be for the candidate we pick to be elected for meaningless reasons. Etc., etc., etc…

Consequences be damned because it’s not our country anyway.

“Barack Obama be thy name”

I woke up early as my radio alarm malfunctioned and caught the last part of some overnight talk show being broadcast at 4 am – couple of moderate political types locally here who want Obama to win just because he is set to crash and burn so spectacularly. No, he can’t walk on water, and they want him to sink BIG in front of his worshipers. Funny, the bluest parts of America are both coasts, and fearing a terrorist attack I’m glad I live in neither region.

What part of Italy does she live in? The Freedom Party-AN-NL coalition is stable. All the Greens and Communists were voted out in the last election so the factions in the Parliament are more evenly distributed.

She’s in Tuscany.

Yeah, I exaggerated a little about the state of affairs there, but not by much. I’m sure you know how many governments (or lack thereof) they’ve had over the last couple of hundred years.

It just amazes me how the populations in Europe and elsewhere seem more concerned with our election than their own messes.

anybody spot BO’s poverty stricken brother in that vid? The One has had plenty of wealth to redistribute around in his own family

kellyjane on October 27, 2008 at 11:38 PM

She’s in Tuscany.

I figured she was living somewhere in Central Italy. Barack Obama would not get any support in Padania or Il Mezzigiorno. The people who in live in the countryside, in Italy and every Western country, have no voice. I’ll bet they don’t get phone calls when the BBC run their polls.

Yeah, I exaggerated a little about the state of affairs there, but not by much. I’m sure you know how many governments (or lack thereof) they’ve had over the last couple of hundred years.

I wouldn’t call it an exaggeration (since WWII anyway) but things seem to be settling down now that far-left in Italy have run out of steam. I was in Rome shortly after the election and the Communist Party had more posters up than anyone else. They won zero seats.

It just amazes me how the populations in Europe and elsewhere seem more concerned with our election than their own messes.

I think that is overplayed by the media. Everyone cares foremost about what happens in their own country. I myself am only abler to Continental domestic politics because some blogs I read translate important articles into English.

aengus on October 27, 2008 at 11:39 PM

That video makes me sick. I am agnostic. But, I was raised in a very religious home. Remember Revelations? Almost every thing that is said. Seems to be coming true. That is what is creeping me out. I still have morals, values. I believe differently. Cannot forget the Bible. BO is no god to me. He is far from it. More like the Devil.

TommyGand darclon are asking why other countries want Obama as your president, and we don’t realise what is bad for America is bad for the world.
Are you honestly telling me that Bush has been good for us in other countries?

Your domestic politic’s does not concern us,health etc. It’s your foreign policy. We all don’t love Obama,it is not a left/right ideology.
We can’t believe that a previous great nation voted for George Bush twice. The lack of awareness of this is troubling.

Joepub,

You hate foreigners telling you who to vote for,you really do.Hopefully it may make you see how other countries feel with U.S interference from overthrowing democratic leaders, acting like regime change of other nation’s is your right.Willing to kill million’s to have control of the oil fields.

It’s not very mature to call for Americans to vote opposite to the U.N if they really want something just because.

Please get the U.S out of the U.N and get the U.N out of the U.S.There would be a huge coalition of the very willing to make this happen.

A divided country,isolated from the world.Sad.

BKennedy,
The U.N is only as good as it’s member states. If U.S leaders constantly call it powerless and ineffective, why should any ‘dictator’ abide by it.

Selecting which breach of ‘international law’ the U.S decides it wants and then demand action.

While ignoring U.N resolution’s against Israel, the double standards and hypocrisy is appalling.

So just Europe has rolled over for monsters, the U.S didn’t even declare war on Germany. How many corrupt leaders have you bankrolled.Overthrew a democratic government in Iran, installed the Shah-trained their brutal police a violent regime.
Funded S.Hussein against Iran, gave weapons including chemical weapons used on iranian civilians.
Gave S.Hussein the weapons to gas the kurds.Torture ,Abu Graib, rendition, gitmo.Have you no problem with Saudi Arabia’s monster’s.

The U.S has no moral standing to judge others, this has made you the laughing stock of the world.
