ATF busts skinhead plot to assassinate Obama, murder blacks; Update: Complaint added; Update: Photo added

Just a few details so far, but it sounds like some sort of Nazi Columbine fantasy with assassination as the capper. Not the first time white supremacists have had their guns out for Obama, although the immediate concern here was obviously the school:

In court records unsealed Monday, federal agents said they disrupted plans to rob a gun store and target a predominantly African-American high school by two neo-Nazi skinheads. Agents said the skinheads did not identify the school by name.

Jim Cavanaugh, special agent in charge of the Nashville field office for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, said the two men planned to shoot 88 black people and decapitate another 14. The numbers 88 and 14 are symbolic in the white supremacist community.

The men also sought to go on a national killing spree, with Obama as its final target, Cavanaugh told The Associated Press.

“They said that would be their last, final act — that they would attempt to kill Sen. Obama,” Cavanaugh said. “They didn’t believe they would be able to do it, but that they would get killed trying.”

They had a rifle, a shotgun, and three pistols and were planning to break into a gun store to grab more. Stand by for updates as local media jumps on the story.

Update: Here’s the ATF’s criminal complaint. The suspects met a month ago on the Internet, as so many terrorists do these days. Sounds like the feds decided to move in after they went looking for a house to rob.

Update: Look at this and you’ll see why the feds decided to move sooner rather than later. Plus, a new detail from the AP:

“Both individuals stated they would dress in all white tuxedos and wear top hats during the assassination attempt,” the court complaint states. “Both individuals further stated they knew they would and were willing to die during this attempt.”…

“They seemed determined to do it,” Cavanaugh said. “Even if they were just to try it, it would be a trail of tears around the South.”

I’m kinda slow. It took me a while to even figure out what GTA was. But what I meant was Doc Cwac was illustrating how Kos Kidz would be vile with their Cheney assassination attempts way back in 2007 but the tagline referenced Leno talking about Palin being a hunter and vice prez and all that here in 2008 which would mean somebody went back and changed ‘em all to condemn assassination attempts against Cheney. Am I just being paranoid?

Any reasonable person has to question the timing.

Seems something happens each time some new revelation comes out pointing to the “real” Osama Obama.

Wonder how many “plots” against George Bush ATF uncovered over the last eight years? Haven’t heard any big revelations….

I want Obama to live. I want him to live to see his nutball political theories and the quasi-religious mania he has built up completely discredited and destroyed.

I wish him a long, healthy life. In obscurity.

Apparently you are unfamiliar with “No Place to Hide”? In that video, the FBI informant discusses being present in the room where the Weather Underground top dogs are meeting discussing the “after the victory” party… the topic comes up regarding the re-education camps in the southwest and how they won’t be able to change some people. They estimated that they would not be able to change, and thus need to eliminate (kill) 25,000,000 people. They were then planning on the logistics of accomplishing this task.

Some blogs/forums/commenting programs have applications that allow you to set an “avatar” – a picture – and/or a “signature” – usually a few lines of text, the tagline with the Leno quote is a good example, but sometimes they also include images. WordPress doesn’t allow either of these, it’s a much simpler service.

Services that DO allow avatar and/or signature service are programmed to update whenever the user changes the content, so that all posts by that user display the same avatar image and signature text. What most likely happened is that the poster with the Leno quote in his signature changed it between the time that post was made (2007) and now (late 2008). The post was old, but the signature had been updated in the meanwhile and the archives changed along with it, thanks to the signature software.

That a bit clearer? I’m used to talking to forum users elsewhere who already know a lot about the software so I admit I use terms and such for granted that might not be understood outside their normal medium.

The part, to me, the morons miss in this is that our military would never participate in an action this large against the population. They seem to think that if they somehow get in charge, that the military will simply do what they say. Won’t happen. Not now. Not ever. Their moronic idea of a purge would take several lifetimes.

HornetSting on October 27, 2008 at 6:08 PM

The reason why we have the right to bear arms is not because we need guns for hunting …but because the founding fathers assumed that at some point, we would need to kill our leaders and overthrow a corrupt government.

Therefore our constitutional rights,by definition, allow civilians the right to own machine guns, missle launchers, armed helicopters and any other such weapon as necessary.

As much as I despise Obama and the DNC, it’s not ad-hominem. I despise their plans to hurt America, I despise the clear and present danger they pose to the nation I joined the Army years ago to defend. I am not a liberal, and because of that, I will not lower myself to hating them on a personal level. I am glad these racist scumbags were captured by federal officials, and hope they feel the full weight of the United States Codes applied to their backs, for the rest of their lives. However, I also despise the fact that the ‘post-racial candidate’ seems pretty likely to blame this on GOP supporters, and characterize their behavior to be indicative of all Conservatives. My aunt, an unreasonable liberal, seemingly impervious to logic and reason, blames McCain for a black man allegedly being gunned down in the UK by a skinhead who was anti-Obama, and urged to kill by McCain. I’m very certain her derangement is not an isolated case, not in this country, nor any other.

They should have waited, and watched, until they broke into the gun store. I mean, all kinds of investigations and court proceedings, investigating a variety of voter fraud allegations and inquests into Obama stuff, are being held until after the election…Why not wait for the bust as well..?

I don’t want to see harm befall anyone, but I can already hear this being used to guilt-trip white folks into voting for the one!

Gavin DeBecker, violence expert, says that to dissuade most of these nutjobs what media needs to do is to stop portraying them in photos holding guns or knives, etc, or having their “tough guy” statements out in the media. Have police officers describe how they “meekly” surrendered or “like a coward” held others hostage, or that they were arrested “cowering in a corner” or tried to kill themselves “like the losers they are.”

Make them appear as truly the cowards and wimps they are, and future nutcases will be less likely to try imitation to go out in some imagined violent blaze of glory.

14 is the number of ingredients in Manly Rash’s medicated ointment. – HornetSting on October 27, 2008 at 6:54 PM
I thought we would keep that a secret.

Sorry. I was just excited because I received my “Manly Rash Holloween Costume” today.

Sweeeet. Don’t forget the batteries for the electrodes.

ManlyRash on October 27, 2008 at 7:05 PM

The numbers 88 and 14 are symbolic in the white supremacist community.

Symbolic of what? Anybody know? Just curious.

AZCoyote on October 27, 2008 at 6:43 PM

88 because they all play piano (except the black keys), and 14 because they all liked Charlie Hustle.

Just a guess, but I think I’m onto something.

Captain Scarlet on October 27, 2008 at 6:58 PM

…”88″ stands for “HH”…”H” being the 8th letter of the alphabet…”HH” standing in for “Heil Schicklgruber”, if you catch the fetid drift….

…”14″ stands for David Lane’s “14 Words”, to wit:

“We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children.”

…and it’s similarly innocuous:

“Because the beauty of the White Aryan woman must not perish from the earth.”

…at present, Mr. Lane is a guest of the Federal Bureau of Prisons for having taken part in several nasty acts, including the assination of talk-radio host Alan Berg. Mr. Schicklbruber’s whereabouts are not exactly certain, but it is presumed that a new wing was added to Hell to accomodate his nasty ass…and that Mr. Lane will have a cell therein.

I used to be a prison chaplaincy visitor dealing with Wotanists, white supremacists, and that ilk…the whole white supremacist universe has a heavy foot in prison gang culture…as does “La Emme”, several other Hispanic “cultural pride organizations”, several black power “clubs”, and something involving Eskimo reparations, of which I’m happily ignorant.

I saw a pic of one of the guys apprehended for this schtick…to borrow from the Yiddish, he seemed for all the world from his face and his choice of weapon (a scoped HK)to be a classic “schlimazel”…defined in relation to the more common “schlemiel”…..

…a schlemiel is the bozo who’s always spilling his drink…a schlimazel is the dolt he’s always spilling it on….

…the biggest danger this guy might ever present is making his new friends in stir have to wait for his “services”…thereby making them cranky….

Grue in the Attic on October 27, 2008 at 7:12 PM

Of course, everyone’s missing the larger point here. These guys are potential domestic terrorists - unlike Bill Ayers, who was a real domestic terrorist and who had a huge network of domestic terrorist friends. I wonder if they’ll get off on a technicality too?

Connie on October 27, 2008 at 7:13 PM

So?

The likes of Hussein don’t take the people of America seriously, including these people. So was the threat real? Not according to the stereotyping the elite portray.

But I’m certain in this event, Hussein will morph into full blackness to get the most out of it.

madmonkphotog on October 27, 2008 at 7:16 PM

What a couple of maroons. I’m glad those guys got busted and I hope they go to prison for a long long time. Where do people get off thinking this kind of stuff is ok?

t.ferg on October 27, 2008 at 7:20 PM

…You can’t take down a helicopter with a pistol…

Esthier on October 27, 2008 at 5:42 PM

Yes, you can, but it takes a long time and a lot of bullets!

Kensington on October 27, 2008 at 6:07 PM

…two possibly apocryphal but still popular stories circulating in the Army when I was still slim, supple and steady on my feet would prove you wrong:

* In Vietnam, our fraternal socialist brethren took down a UH-1 with a crossbow…albeit using a pretty healthy-sized tree as the bolt….

* In Afganistan, as the fellows now fighting us were then fighting the Soviets, the plucky mujjahedin took out a chopper (I heard Mi-24, but prolly an Mi-8) with a big herkin’ rock…supposedly, it was flying down a narrow valley, and they rolled it down on the rotor….

…in any event, you can take most helicopters, especially small ones, with a single bullet…you only have to hit the one inch by however-many-inches sweet-spot that cuts the link to the tail rotor…then, the fun begins….

…it’s just not tactically sound to count on being able to do that….

…for my part, I’d try to get on the street-gang resupply-network and get ahold of a shoulder-fired missle…but that would mean that Skinhead A has to do business with Homeboy B or VatoLoco C…and that could prove problematic….

Great. Sympathy votes now because of a few jerks.

Why? Obama is friends with a domestic terrorist who actually did something, not just talk about it.

Connie on October 27, 2008 at 7:30 PM

Schools are very vulnerable to attacks, most attacks on schools are by unstable students who snap, this would have been a focused effort by clear thinking monsters if carried out. Thank God the Feds were keeping an eye on them and put a stop to their madness.

doubleplusundead on October 27, 2008 at 7:30 PM

What is the significance of the photo to the urgency of the arrest? Looks like standard skinhead to me. What am I missing?

Y-not on October 27, 2008 at 6:12 PM

timing………..

moonbats love to connect ‘dots’ which do not exist; this gives them a whole ‘etch-a-sketch’ to go berserk with

Janos Hunyadi on October 27, 2008 at 6:14 PM

…it could be a marketing thing, assisting the Obama effort…”See! We have a candidate worth killing! Nobody wants to kill your guy!”

…bad taste, true, but I was channelling Howard Dean just then….

The Left, as all fascists, love to (in General Forrest’s words) “keep up the skeer”…have us in a perpetual state of panic and crisis (global warming crisis, Wall Street crisis, racial crisis, AIDS crisis, crisis to be named later crisis), and they look for the “usual suspects” to oblige. After all, what could be less sympathetic than a skinhead?

…except maybe a “gangsta”…no…racist….

…maybe a MEChA “reconquistador”? No…racist….

…maybe an AIM “Free Leonard Peltier” type? No…racist….

…maybe a middle-eastern-type who’s overstayed his visa, practices shooting with his friends out in the woods, and stores demolitions in his basement? No…racist…topical, but still racist….

…so…stupid-looking, self-marginalizing, overwrought suburban slackers with visible swastika tattoos…that’s the ticket….

Puritan1648 on October 27, 2008 at 7:34 PM

If we were Kos Kidz, we would be allowed to say “Karma” if Obama was killed.

Speedwagon82 on October 27, 2008 at 7:34 PM

Here you go. I reworked the story a bit. Now go buzz it up.

Connie on October 27, 2008 at 7:36 PM

A little research (out of idle curiosity devoid of any sympathy) turns up this nugget about “Mr. 14 Words”, David Lane:

…he died on May 28, 2007 in the Federal Correctional Complex, Terre Haute due to an epileptic seizure.

…it would appear that justice, if not served in a courtroom, is ultimately served nonetheless. That would mean that, right about now, Mr. Lane, Mr. Hitler, Mr. Philby, Mrs. Hussein’s little scamp Saddam, Mrs. Pot’s darling son Pol, Mr. Lenin, Mr. Stalin and Mr. Trotsky should all be sitting down to a nice tea in the hottest part of Hell, right next to Lucifer’s swimming pool….

…but, there is a sad note from the same source:

On June 30th, White nationalists held memorial demonstrations for Lane in cities across the United States and England, Germany, Russia and Ukraine.

…it would seem that they’ll not want for company in the years to come.

Puritan1648 on October 27, 2008 at 7:46 PM

If they are discovered to be on the ACORN payroll, then what?

+1 – I agree and I also agree with your previous comment. Obambi will milk this for all its worth – anything to get the 2001 audio off the talk shows/internet. We all know the MSM won’t cover the 2001 audio! Hey Obambi, what goes around, usually comes around!

HornetSting on October 27, 2008 at 8:17 PM

Whacked. totally.

LibertarianConservative on October 27, 2008 at 8:21 PM

Well they certainly wouldn’t have drawn any attention to them selves walking arounf DC in white tuxedos and top hats. Brilliant, I can’t believe ATF caught onto these guys. Some one must have overheard their carelss whispers at a MENSA meeting.

Alden Pyle on October 27, 2008 at 8:25 PM
