ATF busts skinhead plot to assassinate Obama, murder blacks; Update: Complaint added; Update: Photo added

Just a few details so far, but it sounds like some sort of Nazi Columbine fantasy with assassination as the capper. Not the first time white supremacists have had their guns out for Obama, although the immediate concern here was obviously the school:
In court records unsealed Monday, federal agents said they disrupted plans to rob a gun store and target a predominantly African-American high school by two neo-Nazi skinheads. Agents said the skinheads did not identify the school by name.
Jim Cavanaugh, special agent in charge of the Nashville field office for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, said the two men planned to shoot 88 black people and decapitate another 14. The numbers 88 and 14 are symbolic in the white supremacist community.
The men also sought to go on a national killing spree, with Obama as its final target, Cavanaugh told The Associated Press.
“They said that would be their last, final act — that they would attempt to kill Sen. Obama,” Cavanaugh said. “They didn’t believe they would be able to do it, but that they would get killed trying.”
They had a rifle, a shotgun, and three pistols and were planning to break into a gun store to grab more. Stand by for updates as local media jumps on the story.
Update: Here’s the ATF’s criminal complaint. The suspects met a month ago on the Internet, as so many terrorists do these days. Sounds like the feds decided to move in after they went looking for a house to rob.
Update: Look at this and you’ll see why the feds decided to move sooner rather than later. Plus, a new detail from the AP:
“Both individuals stated they would dress in all white tuxedos and wear top hats during the assassination attempt,” the court complaint states. “Both individuals further stated they knew they would and were willing to die during this attempt.”…
“They seemed determined to do it,” Cavanaugh said. “Even if they were just to try it, it would be a trail of tears around the South.”

Too bad so many conservatives can’t just wish Barack Obama well. This is likely not the last of these episodes. At until your family has been threatened with real violence you just can’t know the terror this instills.
No matter his politics, Senator Obama is brave. He is a target.
All of you people who can’t muster a lick of sympathy need to ask yourself why that is and what you will do if Barack Obama becomes POTUS. Are you going to walk around hoping your POTUS doesn’t make it through the term like a bunch of Kossacks and DUmbasses?
Anybody who attacks my POTUS (candidates) also attacks me. This veil extends to all candidates in all parties.

I’m going to ask my workout partner what he thinks about all of this. He’s a racist and ex-member of Circle One, a skinhead gang local to So Cal.
He is constantly telling me about how “down” so many skins are for their cause. “Anywhere anytime” is what he says about “throwing down.” He also confirms that many of these guys are cinder-block dumb.
Also, I don’t know much, but the kid in the photo seems a little light on the tatts. One swazi does not a skinhead make. As is often the case, I’m betting he has other issues that make white supremacy a perfect foil.
These guys have bigger problems than being Skinheads…like protecting their young anuses from their prison yard brethren.

Yeah and a Democrat was actually shot dead earlier this year. I don’t think these things should be taken lightly. It’s an attack on Democracy. Fortunately, this was caught early enough but it makes you wonder how many plots are already in the works. It’s very sad that we still have potential race attacks in our schools.

Sounds like they didn’t use their brains. I don’t think they were true skin heads. They looked like wanna bees. And, to want to kill any person is not cool. I cannot stand BO, but he has a family. And wouldn’t be cool for that to happen. These young dummies were going to shoot a bunch of people. That is sick! Not all races think that way. Glad they were caught. Planning it online? Fellow right-wingers, please take this seriously. It only makes us look like moonbats if we act like this is no big deal, or even a good thing. I am very glad that these people were caught before they had the chance to hurt anyone, even Obama. Don’t get me wrong, I hate Obama, and I think that his election will spell the beginning of the end for the USA, but I would never advocate using violence against him! We have to take the high road and condemn this sort of thing strongly and without hesitation. I don’t know how serious these guys were, but it does not matter. If the cops were concerned, I trust them to move in at the right time.
If (God forbid) this clown is elected, we have to protect him, as he will the the ultimate symbol of the USA. Even before that we have to protect him, that is how the system works. Just remeber that before you say anything that might make people think you condone this sort of thing…

For those of you that remember Waco, Jim Cavanaugh was the lying sack of crap on the phone with Koresh lying about Helicopter fire, among other things, promoted of course. Then a few years later Jim was the guy talking to the media when they were investigating those church fires in the Southeast, guess he would be an expert on church fires.
Sorry whenever I hear the word “skinhead” and ATF in the same story I shake my head. In this case I picture an undercover ATF agent coming up with the plot and motivation and the idiot skinhead who tagged along with him saying, “but we should wear white tuxedos if we do it.” Maybe my cynicism was renewed post Ruby Ridge/Waco when about a year and a half ago a FBI plant filed all the paperwork for a Neo Nazi rally, there’s a point where investigation turns into instigation and on this latest bit of news one should take a wait and see approach.

Growing up in the punk/skinhead scene back in the day, I have to say that most of the neo-nazi skinheads I knew were complete dumbasses, only one or two of them would I characterize as organized and intelligent, at least as intelleigent as you could be while being a racist skinhead. These one or two were the leaders and I’m not sure which I found more dangerous, the intelligent ones who did not go around bragging about being organized or the idiots who followed them and would do just about anything to be seen as tough and “for the cause”. The higher ups were in fact organized on the east coast as part of the EHS, Eastern Hammer Skins. The FBI was watching them as was the JDL.
Not all Skinheads are racist by the way.

Having read the complaint it is unclear to me who initiated the investigation. It would appear that is was started by the local LEOs and that the ATF was called in to provide the vehicle for a Federal violation. I am suprised that the US Secret Service was not involved based upon the allegation of the murder of a Presidental Canidate.
IMO The actions of these two are reprehensible. I have no sympathy for them or any others that would travel this road.
