Jonathan Martin wonders why she’d broach this subject, thereby keeping it alive for another news cycle. The likely answer, per his colleague: Because she had nothing to do with the RNC clothes purchases and is boiling about what it’s done to her image.
[T]he final straw for Palin and her allies was the news that the campaign had reported spending $150,000 on her clothes, turning her, again, into the butt of late-night humor.
“She never even set foot in these stores,” the senior Republican said, noting Palin hadn’t realized the cost when the clothes were brought to her in her Minnesota hotel room.
“It’s completely out-of-control operatives,” said the close ally outside the campaign. “She has no responsibility for that. It’s incredibly frustrating for us and for her.”
McCain defended her this morning on MTP but doubtless he’d like to change the subject. Maybe tomorrow.
The video I really wanted to give you was of her warning Obama not to pop the champagne just yet — “You kinda get the feeling that the Obama campaign thinks this whole election process is just a formality” — but I can’t find it. If you see it somewhere, I’d be grateful for the tip. In lieu of that, you’ll find Hasselbeck’s intro of Palin today below. Exit quotation: “This is deliberately sexist.”

Income distribution for GA suggests McCain’s purported recent gains in middle class (Joe the Plumber effect) should help him there. Median income is around $42,000.
But… IGNORE POLLS! If they help motivate you to vote or convince others to vote for McCain, great — otherwise, ignore them! :-)

The problem with both Allah and Ed is that, as bloggers, they seem to be more concerned with how what they write will be received by other bloggers, and are more concerned with other bloggers opinions, than they are with just getting their opinions out there and letting the readers decide what to think.

Yeah, I just wish he would actually made a point every now and then so we could see what the other side is arguing. There was one really interesting troll here who used to do that…I disagreed with everything he wrote, but I liked him because he kept it lively and engaging. I think that was a Hillary troll, though, and they were much more intelligent than Obama trolls, who really are aptly described as Obamabots. All their arguments are based on emotion.

On topic, and to address Allah’s question on the wardrobe; it is a girl and credibility thing. For one thing, she tied the squawking from the media memes to each clothing comment she makes. Loved it! Some have tried to paint her with this clothing fiasco as not being genuine, and basically called her a liar in her suggestions she is just like us. From “this is my own jacket” to the earrings and flag pin, she is solid prime U.S.A., the exact opposite of her challenger.
I think this also appeals to the female voters. Some have said we females are one voting block sought after with great fervor. In female think, it was a good idea to address this malarky and get it out of the way. Elizabeth was a vehicle to do so, and with the Cuda flair that we all love, she knocked it out of the park. Unfortunately, Governor Palin cannot allow much to just slide or go unnoticed like say, oh, uhmm, PLO members, Marxist professors with penchants for bombs, felons, radical racists, and well you know those kinds of people. Nope she has to defend the clothes on her back!

I was discussing this very point with my 9th grade child just the other day. In hindsight, the Governor answered the question the only way it could have been answered (something to the effect of “I go through all of them”).
If she were to have identified with any *one* particular publication, she would have been branded too “left”, too “right”, or too “centrist” by a large section of the electorate (rightly or wrongly – it is what it is). Not to mention the old favorite, “elitist”. And that doesn’t even take into consideration what the publication itself would have had to say about it! (eg: there is NO way she doesn’t read the NYT; yet they would have had kittens if she had mentioned them).
This goes back to an old meme wherein a reporter asked W the same question and he answered flat out that “he doesn’t read the news”. Of course he reads the news. It is presented to him every single morning in his daily briefing book: the good, the bad, and the horrible.
Barton Gellman, who wrote the latest book on Cheney, said in an interview that, far from the Bush/Cheney relationship being one of puppet and puppet-master, as the media has portrayed it, Bush is actually quite… involved. The idea that he could be that way and not “read the news” is specious. I would find the same argument to hold sound for Gov. Palin.
I believe the media (and many others) are seriously underestimating her, as they did W. I would also never wish the series of world events thrust upon W on any of his adversaries.
